boy, I'm at a loss with this current battle. Ih ad a great start, but now the situation does NOT favor my input at all.
A small bow does 1d4 (+1 due to an enchantment). Pretty inconsequential, but I suppose it's better than nothing. But shooting now will give up my opportunity to sneak attack someone. I think I have to think of somethign useful to do . . . I might have something.

The hard part with this is that the dragon is CR11 in Pathfinder. In reading the message boards, apparently dragons were grossly underpowered in 3.5. I never played 3.5, but that is the general view of this battle from different posts. We will see what happens, if Mantooth and I can get a few more hits in, then we have a shot.
As far as the hobgoblins go, I have shut them down for another 49 minutes, so we should not have to worry about them. I would have a sneak attack shot prepared for the dragon as he will likely be flying over you very soon considering where Mantooth and I are positioned.

ah, good thought. And having drunk the Exp Retreat potion won't be a BAD thing, that way I can run away faster.
I still have a neat trick to play. but your thougth on holding the shot is a good one. I'll adjust my plan accordingly!

Thordak,
Yes, each square on the map is 5 ft. Also, that 120 feet is not the maximum range; it is simply the range you may shoot without any penalty. Here is some more info on ranged weapons.
Range: Any attack at more than this distance is penalized for range. Beyond this range, the attack takes a cumulative –2 penalty for each full range increment (or fraction thereof) of distance to the target. For example, a dagger (with a range of 10 feet) thrown at a target that is 25 feet away would incur a –4 penalty. A thrown weapon has a maximum range of five range increments. A projectile weapon can shoot to 10 range increments.

Bofus, thanks for the info on the crenelated tower. Do you know the name they give that top level of the tower? I did not see it in the wikipedia.
I am not sure if you all saw the picture of Skull Gorge Bridge posted earlier. Note that the towers actually have roofs on them.

I think a dragon has to be a certain size before making useful armor, and I don't htink a juvenile is big enough. I can't speak for other components.

Thordak son of Throtgar |

Either way, it's pretty big. If not for a biggun', one of us little guys could get some armor out of it. Do the scales provide energy resistance of the corresponding dragon type or no?

Hi Folks,
I am not usually inclined to overrule decisions you make in this game, but if you separate as Thordak suggests, you will have a difficult time getting back together. It would not be a big deal if you were simply choosing to run across town while the rest were hanging out at the Stone Wyvern, but flying across the Elsir Vale is another matter all together. At one point I considered having Matthias send word to Brindol, but to be honest, that was before I realized how badly you are going to need him. Besides, if Thordak did decide to go, what would he be telling people? In this OOC thread, please tell me how much you do know at the moment. What sort of message would you actually send at this time?

Tirion Jörðhár |

That is why I was sort of inquiring whether Jorr might have some animal or fey contacts who could get a message to Drellin's Ferry. Hobgoblins are just as bad for the forest creatures as they are for humans and demi-humans. (Do they still call them demi-humans?)

Thordak son of Throtgar |

OOOOHHHH, I forgot about my contact among the Elves, too! (Archery tournament). So here's the thing: I can cast animal messenger a couple of times, but only if I wait until morning. I am not too concerned about going out alone, and I can probably find you guys again. But I'm open to staying together. I was just concerned that because we are in such a time crunch we need to get word out as soon as possible. the message would be to bring forces to skull gorge bridge immediately to combat a hobgoblin horde that has been massing in the whatchamacalum mountains. Until we're decided though, I will hold off from flying away.

yeah, i'd be arguing against splitting up, both in character (as Bofus is doing in teh game thread), and out of character because it's such a pain in the butt to split the party (especially for the DM who has to keep track of what happens when!).
The hobgoblin horde is certianly secure in their knowledge of the bridge being held, so they're porbalby not in a HUUUUUGE rush. Until they discover the bridge is no longer theirs, we've got the advantage.

DM Harpwizard |

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. I really want you to feel the verisimilitude of this world and adventure and feel that you could make any decision you like. However, Bofus is right. DMing a separate adventure for so many role-playing situations would be very difficult. With Lulu flying those distances, your role-playing could put you days into the future of where the rest of the party is. These things will need to happen, but I would really prefer it if you did those things together as a group. Thanks!

DM Harpwizard |

I am toying with the idea of putting all of your equipment under spoilers in the campaign info. The advantage is that we can always look up at what everyone has under a single page. The drawback is that I will need to keep track of it and you will need to tell me if you add or subtract anything from it. What are all of your thoughts?

![]() |

"Candy Gram for Mongo!!"
MMmm Mongo like candy!
*10 awesome points for anyone who gets that reference*
On equipment lists: how about this. DMHW, if you want to add an Equipment spoiler, you just copy each individual's equipment list from their page into it. That way, it minimizes your work in re-creating it (and if we have substantive updates, we can shoot you a line to "please update my equipment spoiler"), we're all still responsible for our own stuff, and there's also that single, central location.
The Group Stuff should probably at least be on that, in any case . . . I try to keep that up-to-date to the last 24 hours. :-)

Tirion Jörðhár |

Isn't that from Blazing Saddles?
Bofus, you should keep a list of all the dragon gems and who has which one, that way we just have to remember that we have ER if we have 2 of them.
Damn - Ninjaed again - I had it first, but then typed an additional message.

![]() |

well, in my experience a paladin is going to ahve a hard time with a rightfully surrendered enemy being exterminated in pretty much every circumstance. In truth I hadn't considered Matthias as an "issue!" :-)
I think DMHW and Tirion can split the points. Tirion gets +6 awesome points for being first (even though he posted second). +4 for DMHW for posting first.
I've got the dragon gems on my sheet, in Group Pot toward the bottom.

I have such fond memories of laughing hysterically with my dad watching that movie as a kid! I really busted a gut watching it every time. Everything from kidnapping the sheriff, to the scene with the beans at the campfire, to slowing down the bad guys by setting up a toll booth in the middle of the desert! ROFL!

![]() |

yeah, there really isn't a not-funny part of that movie.
That and Top Secret.

Tirion Jörðhár |

There were a number of quality movies like that. Spaceballs and the History of the World, Part I also come to mind. Although most of those were Mel Brooks films.
I'm a Mog, half man and half dog. I am my own best friend.

I've got it on Netflix, but haven't started watching it yet. Didn't realize it was kid-friendly, have to revisit that!!
