Sorry I should have clarified a bit more they are actually grappling you, that was the 'latched on' part. So you could jump down but they would be coming with you, although being grappled you technically can't move as part of the grappled condition. In any case, it is a 30 ft drop. Not looking at the rules at the moment but I believe you can only use acrobatics to ignore the first 10 ft of fall damage if intentially jumping down.
DMPCing Jirani
After Virgil's bomb, Olik hurries toward Tam leaping from column to column almost getting to her. Jirani takes his time and jumps after Olik, with his caution he only gets to the first column. Tam smacks one of the creatures but it is still persistant.

Very sorry...system did not show an update....
Batah moves forward beside Virgil and once again calls upon his goddess to send out a bolt of fire at one of the blood sucking bugs.
Attack-Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

![]() |

Don't forget you get a -4 for shooting into combat, Batah.
Tamarie shrieks as a firey ray streaks past her, scorching a few locks of her hair.
"STOP SETTING ME ON FIRE!" she shouts back, as she is not used to being the frontline man.

GM Dak |

Batah burns off some of Tam's hair with his spell, though you notice the creatures seem to shy away from the fire.
CMB-Grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
CMB-Grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
CMB-Grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Even with Tam struggling they all stay latched onto Tam and continue to suck more blood.
-3 Con damage for a total of -6. You are down to an effective 7 Con and -12 HP
Tam starts to turn pale as the things suck more of her blood until she passes out and falls to the floor of the pillar she is on.
Round 2
Batah, Enemy, >Rest of Party

His concern growing the paler Tamarie gets, Olik waits for a clean shot and slashes at the one that seems most injured.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

![]() |

No problem, I'm getting to know your characters so well I can predict what you are going to do :). Although I was half thinking you might want to just jump, with it being a big hole and all. :P
"I'm telling y'all: if we took the pit, we wouldn't be having this problem!"
Jirani himself pales as Tamarie drops. Can't afford to miss... With shaky hands, he thrusts his ranseur at the creature within reach with as much precision as he can muster.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 1 = 15
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5

![]() |

Con check DC 14(con 13>7): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7
4 damage from bomb > 8/12 hp
-6 con > -4/0 hp
Failed check > -5/0 hp
Dead at -7.
--
That's correct, right?
Tamarie's body twitches as the blood runs out of her eyes and mouth. Her chest is barely moving.

GM Dak |

Olik and Jirani smack two of the things which burst open on the hits spilling blood all over Tam and the column, the scene looking even more dire then it currently is. Virgil jumps over to the first column with a bit of a running start, but realizes further jumps will be a little more difficult not being able to get a running start.
The remaining creature sucks some more blood out of Tam, you can see her breathing getting extremely shallow.
-1 Con damage for a total of -7 Con, effective 6 Con. -2 HP
You made your save so half damage from bomb
-2 bomb (10)
-12 Con (-2)
-1 bleed (-3)
-2 Con (-5)
After it finishes sucking more blood it detaches and flies back up to the creaves in the ceiling content with it's meal.
Out of Combat

Batah quickly moves to the edge of the pit. He calls upon his goddess to release a burst of healing towards his allies, keeping the healing from their enemies (don't know if I need to worry, as I think the creatures are dead, but better safe than sorry..lol)
Channel Positive: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Once this is complete, Batah will attempt to climb down and help the girl more.

![]() |

That was close! :-o
Tamarie awakens, blood all over her armor.
She grasps the hand of Olik who is standing over her, and says "Thank you brother!" before closing her eyes a few more seconds.
"Are they all gone?" she says, sighing but in pain from the attacks.

GM Dak |

Ok, so for reference Tam currently has 4 HP max and is currently sitting out 1 hp from the healing.
Batah the only way to help her is to jump over to her (but really all the pillars over that direction are taken) If you climb down and walked over toward her you would still be about 30 ft below her.
Side not, interested to see how you manage to get Tam back across alive. IE falling would very likely be the end of her

![]() |

"I... I'm not feeling too well." is all she says before getting up.
"I agree the mission will have to wait for my arm to be strong again, but how.. The jump now looks insurmountable, when before it was just a small obstacle..."

![]() |

I thought the acrobatics check was only if you were rushing across. In any case, we could tie a rope around her waist to keep her from falling to the bottom as she makes her way back. It was all con damage, right? Not str or dex?

![]() |

I'm guessing we'd go through the hallway 1 at a time again. Batah could use that channel to max out Tam's HP, and if anyone can boost her dex or skill checks that would be good. And we should probably just climb down instead of going all the way around.

![]() |

Thank god for no dex dmg :)
'Assist' could also help me not fall, so if we can avoid that natural one.. *touch wood*
Tamarie is lookign down..
"didn't look so high before.."

![]() |

Olik slips an arm under Tamaries and aids her on the journey back to town. Along the way he keeps a constant stream of conversation going switching from thoughts on what they've seen so far, old war stories and tales of adventure. Though there seems no theme to his chatter the underlying theme, keeping Tamarie conscience and moving, soon becomes apparent. Once they reach the Greenforest he calls for the innkeepers attention, "Ah Master Tulmen a good hearty meal for our friend here. She's a bit pale in the gills as it were."
Helping Tamarie to get settled in their room he quips, "Now rest up, your aunt would kill me if I let you get done in by a bunch of over grown mosquitoes." When her food arrives and all seems well he heads down to the common room to join the rest of the group.

![]() |

Once the party has a chance to settle in a bit...
"So Virgil, Batah what bring you to the society? I know it was just a pack of overgrown bugs but it was good to have you both there." Olik asks, raising a mug towards the duo.

![]() |

"I joined in my native lands for a chance to see the world and do some good. My first assignment ended up being deep in the Mwangi swamps at Blood Cove. We fought cultists and giant apes...it was terrifying, as well as exciting. One of our party was even able to activate an ancient Azlanti artifact! On my return from the south I was ordered here to join up with the rest of you here at Thornkeep."

![]() |

"Well, I am a brewer by trade. It's where I learned my alchemy. There's a lot of alchemical science in brewing a good beer. Temperatures, alcohol contents, yeasts, carmelizing sugars, and the lot."
Virgil chews on his unlit cigar for a moment and continues, "I once had chance to see what a museum claimed was an ancient Azlantian magical potion formula. Ha! It was an ancient recipe for sweet barleybrew. The only problem was that it was only the middle third of the recipe. The top and bottom were lost to the ages. So, I scribbled down what they had and am trying to track down any other recipes to see what the ancients considered a great tankard of ale. The Pathfinder Society has a lot of resources and information on ancient scribblings and I figured why not?"
The Dwarf puts his feet up. "Works out great for me. They send me around the world on missions and I get to try drinks I've only read about. Plus, I get to search their libraries for any other remnants of recipes for that lovely liquid gold."
The alchemist frowns and sets aside his cigar. "Only problem I've had thus far is that the one library they've let me into is owned by that blasted Blakros family. Horrible place. You need to be armed to the teeth just to do some light reading in that place."

![]() |

"The Mwangi jungles eh? I've heard many tales of that land though I've not seen it myself. Did you have the chance to talk to any of those from that land? I would love to hear the tales and songs of their people. Speaking of tales, if you don't mind my asking, what brought you to be a follower of the Dawnflower?"
"Well master brewer, you will be a most welcome companion! I think you'll find our pallets most enthusiastic, if not particularly discerning. As our friend Salador might say, we're always ready to lift a cup in thanks to the Lucky Drunk!" he eventuates his statement by taking a long pull on his tankard.

![]() |

Jirani cheerfully listens to the stories swapped back and forth, nursing his own tankard in quiet contradiction to Olik's assessment of the group's capacity for drink. He was glad to see that Tamarie seemed to be feeling better in the comfort of the inn. He looked forward to a long night awake and an appropriately long night asleep.

![]() |

"By 'biters', do you mean the goblins or those blood-sucking wasps? The goblins were far less dangerous," Jirani's voice sounds jocular, but the tight-lipped grimace on his face shows that he jokes only in half.
TBH, I'm not sure that we would've left the rope, if we were expecting to be in town for a few days. Now, we might should have bought a grappling hook before we came back...

Survival T10 or roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
"Let me check..." she says while trying to figure out whose track is caused by who?
"Care to help, brother?"

![]() |

"Let the light of the Dawnflower brighten our endeavors." Batah intones and summons light on the end of his scimitar.
"There, that should help us see what we are doing, and help you see any tracks, I hope!"

![]() |

"...
Thanks Jirani, I'm still not really up to par. I'll go right behind you, as my eyesight is still 100%." she says thankfully.
After investigating the tracks, she looks up at the group from het squated position.
"I don't see any signs of recent activity, so that's good."
