and yes, I'm "very around." heh.

Rough and Ready is no longer a feat, just a basic trait. Hopefully that is all, please let me know if there is anything else that needs to be corrected.

Well, the Silhouette has arrived! It came in a tractor trailer truck yesterday! I am now on my way to becoming a rock star! LOL Now I have to save up some money to buy a great big power amp to send the neighborhood into a harp rock frenzy!

Male Human Paladin 9 (HP:68/102, AC: 28, Touch: 16; +10 Fort, +6 Reflex, +11 Will)

You got an electric harp? That's awesome! Now you can play your new hit single "We Three Kings" anywhere!

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I remember the peaceful days when all you had was a little portable harp.

Dungeon Master

Tirion, I appreciate the round number, but if you forget, it is not necessary to repost the entire thing. I can usually figure it out pretty easily. However, for combat I should also ask you to post your current hitpoints out of max hitpoints (if they are less than full) directly under the round number. This is helpful if I am trying to put the health bar on the maps without having to click an extra layer into people's character sheets to find what their current hit points are at. For movement or attacking, always use the coordinates from the map to help keep directions clear.

If you roll a potential critical (usually 20) then also roll the confirmation roll (a 2nd dice roll that indicates a hit would confirm a critical hit, which is usually double the damage). Your use of skill check rolls as you think you need them are perfect. With PBP, sometimes you may make a post that has if statements in them such as this: I attack the orc at A5, but If the orc at A5 is slain before my turn then I will attack the lich at C6 instead. You should be able to pick it up pretty quick. Just ask if you have any further questions as we go.

I hope I didn't force anyone into doing anything they didn't want to do. Especially mantooth--I *did* purposefully put you on the spot with teh "deferring to your jurisdiction" thing, and I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable or anything. :-) but at least we forced the dude's hand, and really show his true colors.

Kazam! I think today will be the day to reach 2000 posts! Let's see who gets the prize! 100 x.p. bonus to whoever posts #2000 and 50 x.p. to whoever posts #2001. (No consecutive posting allowed)

Dungeon Master

That was nice of you to share the 1000k honor, Bofus!

Well I am off for a hike this afternoon. I will post again tonight and see you gets #2001.

Dungeon Master

Hello Folks,

The family and I are off on a three day trip down to southern vermont. I will make one more post in the morning before we leave. When we are away we are staying in a little motel, but I am not clear if I will have access to Wifi or not. We will be back on Friday night. Either way, posting will be lighter than usual. Please feel free plan and discuss your next steps with each other.

I was thinking that someone (and by "someone" I'll suggest "I") should keep a tab of non-distributed treasure. Someone in another thread simply put another spoiler in their character sheet, so I'll do that too. Thsi way we won't lose track of the goodies we haven't sold/split yet.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Thief/9 Init: +12 HP: 53 / 53 AC: 30 Touch: 21; Perception 15 (19 traps; TRAPSPOTTER)

OK, so I just listed out all of our unallocated equipment. It's under the "Un-Allocated Equipment" spoiler in my profile. Make sure you tell me if you take something so I can remove it from the list. Everything there will be Medium sized unless noted.

I went through the posts on Nextic's lair, adn there was QUITE A BIT of valuable stuff!! Pleasae note that there are magical items that are very useful and we definitely should not sell--the Feather Token (whip) is nice, the +2 dagger is awesome, and the ring of jupming is pretty good too.

I'll bet we could sell Yab (or mabye some other inn or shop owner) the rights and a map to collect everything in Nextic's lair for like 500 gp (it's worth more, all told). I'll have Bofus ask around.

If anyone wants to claim anything . .. we should decide how we determine who gets what. In most of my table games, we did a "claim it, own it" system. We also had something of an understanding where certain items, by default, when to certain classes (the best strength boosters whent to the front-line melee fighters; dex boosters to the rogue, cha to bard or paladin as needed, etc)

If there was a multiple claim, we did a roll-off with high roll winning.

Anything we agreed to sell and not divvy out, we'd split. If you got something, it was YOURS though--if you got something better, you could do what you wanted with the original (give it to another party member, sell it, whatever--it's YOURS).

Any thoughts in this regard?

Oh, one mroe thing: may I suggest we start a "group pot" of, say, 10% off the top of all coin/money/sold goods we get? That worked out really well in my last campaign--we bought group treasure such as wands of Cure Light wounds and the like without worrying aobu twho would pay for them.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

In most games I play, all the loot goes to the first gnome with a charcoal complexion, but if you want to use this complicated division of property technique instead of everything going to the charcoal gnome, I guess I will have to acquiesce.

[spoiler=DMHW] Guess I will not tell them about my Rod of Instant Death to any PC, NPC or Monster with unlimited charges that I have [\spoiler]

Dungeon Master

Hi Folks, I am having a great time in Bennington! I don't have much time, but I will be back tomorrow night to keep things moving. Today I found a game shop in town with tons of Pathfinder stuff! I picked up some cool battlemaps, miniatures, dice, and some other pathfinder stuff. Very cool. Have a great day!

Male Human Paladin 9 (HP:68/102, AC: 28, Touch: 16; +10 Fort, +6 Reflex, +11 Will)

Sorry everyone, I went to Montreal for the weekend and wasn't able to access the campaign.

Bofus, I was beginning to keep a tab of treasure that Thordak was carrying under his profile when we left Nextic's lair, but I believe I only got the latter half from the slavers and their chests. It looks like there are some things that are in Thordak's "Loot" and not in your undistributed treasure - should we just ignore the non-masterwork things?

Dungeon Master

Mantooth, thanks for the heads up. We really appreciate it! If you see Matthias, could you please kindly inform him that his presence is requested on these boards. I cannot believe that life at the general store is consuming his entire life. I promise not to put him in jail, yet, but I can't speak for the others. At the very least, he could reply to my emails.

@ Mantooth: I typically ignore onesey-twosey items that aren't masterwork, magical, or artistic, so unless it falls into one of these categories, I'd skip it. But we shoudl keep it all in one place, so if there's something worth noting, let me know and I'll add it to mine.

If someone wants something, mention it in-character and I'll update it on my list. I'm quite comfortable keeping up with this kind of list, and it's fitting that Bofus would be the one to "find a buyer" for most of this stuff, so unless there are objections I'll keep this job.

@ DMHW & Mantooth: I can't help but second DMHW's sentiment. I mean, if you say you're going to be away--or you say "I was away" after the fact like you did for this weekend--that's one thing. But 2 weeks and no posts? It takes a few minutes each time. Granted, the longer you stay away, the longer it takes to get up to date, so it really is kind of a nasty cycle. But first and foremost, we miss Matthias. Second . . . we miss teh STORY PROGRESSING due to PLAYER INACTIVITY!!! :-) So I have no problems if you decide to add my "please come back to us" message to the one from DMHW, OK?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I have a gaming question. Do you get a +2 for a masterwork item (weapon for instance), but only a +1 for a magic item - even though you need a masterwork item to make the magic sword? Am I getting something backwards - if not it would seem that all the work of making a magic item actually decreases the quality which would be kid of strange.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Also - I just want to confirm before I update my character sheet. Do I have the Bracers +1, the Dagger +2, Wand of Magic Missiles, the Cloak and Boots of Elvenkind and the Ring of Jumping? I do not need all of this, but if nobody else is claiming them, I can make good use. As I noted above, we can easily trade items back and forth if Mantooth needs to make a jump in his armor or Bofus needs to go on a clandestine mission. not sure if this should be here or on the Game thread

Dungeon Master

Tirion, the masterwork weapon gains only a +1 enhancement bonus. The magic weapon gains a +1 enhancement bonus, but they do not stack. You simply take the highest enhancement bonus. Therefore a +1 dagger has the same bonus as a masterwork dagger. I know this may seem strange, but at least magical weapons are not worse to hit. The big difference between +1 magical and simply masterwork is that it is considered magical when trying to attack creatures that are resistant to nonmagical weapons. I hope this helps.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Thief/9 Init: +12 HP: 53 / 53 AC: 30 Touch: 21; Perception 15 (19 traps; TRAPSPOTTER)
Attacks:
Rapier: +15/+10 (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +2 ench); Bow +14/+9(+1) (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +1 bow/+1 acid arrow)

on masterwork vs. magic:
the Masterwokr enhancement bonus is on the to-hit roll only, not damage. Magic gives you its + to hit and damage.

All magic items are masterwork, so even in an anti-magic field or under the (temporary) effects of a Dispel Magic, a magic weapon would still get its +1 Masterwork enahncement bonus to hit.

On items:
Tirion, I use Stealth all the time, so I'd prefer to "default" the Cloak of Elvenkind to Bofus, to be shared if needed. Can we make that work?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Yep - figured that the cloak would be best for you since about 1 of every 3 checks you make appears to be stealth. Was surprised that it was still unallocated loot. Thanks for the info on the masterwork v. magic. Gotta remember, I still live in the AD&D world and it is taking a little updating to move forward 25 years.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

AD&D > D&D :)

There is definitely a heavy nostaligic value to AD&D, and there's a charm that can never be replaced. However, there ARE clearly superior aspects of 3e/Pathfinder. Prime example: you ever read the Telekinesis description in AD&D? It's effing laughable.

@Mantooth--I looked at Thordak's list of goodies, and took anything that wasn't on mine but was on his, and put htem on mine. That way, we've got one-stop shopping. I didn't bother with mundane weapons. I *did* bother with alchemical items, kits (climbers), and other cool stuff.

Male Human Paladin 9 (HP:68/102, AC: 28, Touch: 16; +10 Fort, +6 Reflex, +11 Will)

@ Bofus - Thanks for keeping up with the list. i wasn't sure if anyone wanted to do that, so that was my feeble attempt to at least keep track of what Thordak picked up. What happened to that magical amulet? As soon as Mantooth is able to channel positive energy, he could definitely use that if Matthias is too busy petting Humphrey.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Man - should have just used the old method of rolling characters (4d6 - lowest), tried it this afternoon and would have had:

11 Str -- 13-2(gnome)
16 Con -- 14+2(gnome)
14 Dex -- 14
15 Int -- 15
8 Wis -- 8
20 Cha -- 18+2 (gnome)

That would have been a nice character, lol.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I want to confirm what equipment I have before I modify my Character Sheet:

+2 Dagger
+1 Bracers
Boots of Elvenkind
Wand of Magic Missiles
Ring of Jumping (should probably go to Mantooth and his 500 pounds of armor)
Ring to Release Arcane Lock

If I missed anything, please let me know. Also, what, if anything, do you want me to try to identify? I think I saw the Dragon Gems, just let me know so that I can write it up in the Game thread.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

And as my last post tonight, unless I think of something else. Have you guys ever thought of setting a period of time to play remotely at the same time? We could easily use Skype or a similar chat/e-phone program. I use Skype chat in other non-D&D games and it works quite well. We would still play by post, but could probably get a lot more done. - Just a thought.

Dungeon Master

I was actually thinking the same thing myself today. That would be fun! Florence would be the only one having trouble with an evening session, but I suspect if you were all willing on a Saturday morning, we could get a lot done. Let me know if the rest of you have such an interest.

Weekends are always tough with the family, but if everyone else agrees on a time, I will try to make it work. Evenings are best, but if Florence is in Europe, that would be difficult.

I don't know if I could make that work. I mean, I've already got a regular (bi-weekly) gaming group; we're thinking of starting a 2nd campaign, and I haven't even brought THAT up to my wife yet!

I think adding in another regularly scheduled game time thing would not go very far in "insuring the domestic tranquility." I mean, I don't get a heluva lot of home time as it is.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Sadly have to second Bofus in that :/

Dungeon Master

It would probably be good for domestic tranquility at my house as well. However, if the cats are ever away, you will be able to easily tempt this mouse to go out and play!

I would love to join another campaign, but I am not sure about saturdays. I usually work on the weekends.

Dungeon Master

Folks, i am trying to find the details of Thordak giving his pelt to the tanner to make into hide armor. I though his name of Jorgan Balch, but the search engine cannot find it. Can anyone help me find that piece of info in the thread. Thanks.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Thordak.

Not knowing what Jorgan Balch looks like, you certainly cannot identify him. However, you are aware of a section of the grounds where merchants do sell their wares. Perhaps, you might have some better luck there.

You leave Summoners field and wander across the grounds to a section known as Merchant's row. As you begin walking through, you are suddenly greeted by a salesman.

Good afternoon, Master Dwarf. Where are you from? Can I interest you in purchasing a carpets from our fine selection.

Post 801-850, somewhere in the middle.

Dungeon Master

Thanks, Zyren! That was a huge help. I'm not sure why the search cannot find the name Balch for me.

Florence, your concert should be coming soon. . . You may want to be thinking about what you are going to play for your set.

Folks, for the next two days I have a brain based learning workshop to attend. I am commuting there and back each day. I will be posting mornings and evenings, but I'm not sure if I can access the net during the day. I will still try! : )

On what other organs can learning be based besides the brain?? (well, in the case of men they can learn through their dumbstick, but that's pretty Pavlovian style learning--but besides that)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Well - since a large portion of our population seem to rarely if ever use their brains, there must be some other type of learning.

Dungeon Master

LOL. You guys are great at cheering me up when I'm in the middle of a day long lecture. Thanks!

Dungeon Master

I've got to get to bed now. I'll post again in the morning.

Dungeon Master

So folks, the family and I are leaving for vacation soon. I've got a wedding to play at tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday morning we are departing for Nova Scotia. I anticipate that we will be back on August 11th. I do not anticipate that I will be posting at all for those days, but if I find a computer with internet capabilities I am sure I will not be able to help myself. We've had a really good run of our game since we started, and I hate the thought of stopping completely, but I know we will be back soon. Hopefully Thordak and Matthias will also be back soon after I return and we can proceed with our adventure with everyone. If you guys want to make posts to role-play with each other in character, please feel free, but I know this can only go so far without a DM. So, I hope you will all enjoy some time off and when we return we will be ready to see where our story leads us.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

DMHW - have fun in the maritimes, watch out for those crazy Canadians.

Dungeon Master
