Southern Guardroom Round 4 continued

Init: Amiculus, Braelex, Andel, Relan, Fulmen, Baddies, Vuloo, Aidon

Dolphin 4 is sickened (no save made)

Fulmen pulls himself out of the water and pulls the rope taught, attaching it to an ancient torch sconce and securing it around a couple stone protrusions in the stairway banister, similar to the other side.. The rope pulls taught and while not a tight rope, could likely be used to shimmy along without touching the water.

The sinspawn continue to shred at the dolphins, leaving another one potentially sickened.

Vuloo opens a lifelink and one of the sick dolphins gets a weak blow in on the western sinspawn.

Southern Guardroom Round 4 continued

Braelex continues to watch and then heads into the water, firing her weapon from under water and the bolt travels just far enough to skewer the western sinspawn in the back of the head, killing it. Relan mops up the last sinspawn with a vicious blow and the two dolphins swim around in a victory lap.

END COMBAT! Note the small earth elemental disappeared when Aidon summoned the dolphins

The Dice:

Sinspawn 2 bite vs Dolphin 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16; HIT!; Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 plus Will Save DC12 or be sicked 1d6 ⇒ 5 minutes

Heh... well, the dolphins can help you across. =D

After the last sinspawn is defeated, Braelex swims across to the far side. She climbs out, frowning at her clothes, sopping wet once again.

"Those were another kind of sinspawn. We should keep a specimen for Lord Heidmarch." (right?) Her eyes perk up after a moment's thought. "Are any of them still living?"

Does he not have a bounty on their skulls? Can someone detect magic? Or is that some other PBP?

Already wet and still breathing water, Relan searches the pool, hoping to find something of worth, perhaps from a previous victim.

Relan searches the entire room but finds nothing of interest in the stagnant water other than the 4 sinspawn.

Whomever is the chronicler knows that you have a bounty on sinspawn heads ... you've collected one already.

Other than getting wet, Vuloo is perfectly OK in the water and can extract himself eventually. (Water breathing still active)

"Pathfinders of all sorts are interested in all knowledge, Vuloo ... disgusting or not. You should know this. The sinspawn are a fascinating creation born of a high concentration of sin magic and the emotion they are attached to itself. Think what we could do with that if used on the positive sides of rune magic. Spawn born of humility, generosity or love ..." Andel colors a bit as he realizes the implications of this last statement and trail off embarassedly.

Moving on

Sewer Entrance

The party heads west out of the guardroom and after 30 or 40 feet the corridor turns to the south and slopes downward for several 100 feet. A short flight of stairs leads down to a thirty-foot-square chamber with a cistern filled with dark water taking up most of the floor. Troughs of this dark water run east, west, and south through hallways alongside five-foot-wide walkways. Soggy timbers have been draped over the gaps to provide unstable looking bridges over the troughs. An ornamental torch made of onyx burns in a sconce next to a hallway heading east, from
which the distant sound of someone singing with a raspy throat wafts down the hall.

Linguistics DC14:
You are able to discern the singing is in Necril, the language of the dead. A mix of Aklo, Undercommon and Osirian and commonly muttered by the ravenous ghouls of the Darklands.

The Reservoir
Relan leads the party to the east and Braelex hops back over the gap to follow. (See map, passage is on the northside only)

As the party proceeds down the hall, the off-key singing immediately cuts off.

The water in the room beyond has slight ripples in the water. A stone bridge supported by stone pillars curves through a cylindrical reservoir. A few feet below the bridge, dark water fills the room. The walls within a few feet of the water’s surface have been painted into a remarkable mural that depicts the skyline of Magnimar, complete with numerous ships seeming to float on the waters of the room.

As Relan pops in, a raspy unseen voice asks from within the room, "What luck is this, to have travelers after so long a time? Who be you?"

A hall exits the room to the south.

Remind me who is carrying the light?

The Resevoir

"Alright then," the raspy voice replies coupled with a slight splash of water. In the pale light cast off Relens' armor, the party sees a gruesome beast crawl out of the water on to the bridge. Dripping with water, a blue-skinned, red-eyed, long-tongued creature of death stands up, fingers ending in claws. It is dressed in the tattered remnants of leather armor and some sort of livery.

Image here

"If my appearance doesn't prejudice you, allow me to offer you some free information before I make a request," the creature keeps its eyes downcast as it looks your way

"I assume you intend to progress deeper into the sewers. To the south of here is a junction where the sewer pipes from above dump. In those pipes a pair of vicious serpent-like beast reside awaiting hapless things to come by. To the west and south, you'll find a room with broken bridges and foul gases. It bothers me not, but I think you air-dwellers may have a difficult time. Finally to the far west is a room full of harmless fungus and mushrooms, but hidden amongst them is an all-destroying green substance that clings to the ceiling and in the fungus itself. I've seen it tear through a rat in mere seconds."

He pauses, looking to see your reactions before he continues, "My name is Lockerbie Brast, and a while back I lost a a valuable broach when I sunk my ship, the Liza Jane, just east of this structure. If you can recover my broach and then show it to me, I promise to tell you details about the dangers far to the south. And if you'll go one step further and promise to deliver the broach to my wife with an explanation that you found it in the shipwreck but found no sign of me, I’ll even agree to aid you against those dangers to the south."

He eyes you carefully, "Do we have a deal?"
