Snarkiness aside, there's no reason the archons would continue mindlessly blasting the closest target when they can see greater threats such as the devil, which I originally ordered them against. They aren't geniuses, but I think they could determine a greater fiend and/or dread wraith to be more appropriate targets than the damn zombies.
DMFflash |
Save or take a hit load of damage. Not truly instant death ... like the spell used to be.
Nowzai, yes, please run Tlanextic. As your cohort, he's part of you. I'll fix the access thing. Sorry about that.
BTW, how does attacking your opponents mean stupid (although at Int 6, I could argue they are stupid) What's the impetus for them to read your mind and change targets?

We posted at nearly the same time...
I get the mindlessly attacking if the summons were animals or constructs, etc, but the archons have brains (or, well, ... minds of light or something). I can specify their targets if we can communicate, but they can make their own tactical decisions. I understand my original target went invisible the first round, so attacking the zombies made sense... but as soon as the devil or the wraith, or the obviously evil uber-cleric, were valid targets, I think they're smart enough to adjust.
DM Fflash |
Fair, I forgot you originally sent them at the devil. I think they would retarget him.
However, on a larger theory of "the best of their abilities" I don't think they'd make massive tactical decisions like sensing the danger of a high level caster or incorporeal undead without direction or without direct experience of their ability. Devil over zombies, sure. Int 6 ... not a hound archon ... it's sentient light.
Nowzai al'Nazari |
Massive tactical decision, agreed... but it doesn't take a Kalashtar to sense that the cleric spewing spells that disintegrate people in evil energy is a bigger threat than the lumbering zombie. They are archons -- fairly sure they understand the fundamental badness of divine evil.

That's ok Dave apparently Sam is too stupid to know he is in a silence even though there is nothing on the map to show that, and to know his spell failed to take a 5' and attack and his int is 28 so don't feel bad

who heal me at the end of the first fight? i got hit with a critical by the half orc. lost 90 hit points and we went right up the stairs into combat again.

Sam, we are at the top.of the order Round 7. You posted two rounds previously. Not sure why, but those attacks haven't played through yet. Technically I should ignore your second post previously per the rules, but ill play it out this time since you were trying to move the game along.
Generally if you just look at my posts, you get a sense of where we are. Everything else is just a suggestion until it's adjudicated in one of my posts.

Sorry Tike it's more my fault because I haven't been putting in my round at the top and I have completely lost track this fight where I am action wise vs round.
I will hold off posting until I know I am caught up

Its going to take a bit of time, of which I currently have little, to go back through the last few dozen pages of gameplay and try to compile potential clues. I'll try, but it may take until later this week or next week before I get a good chance. If anyone has any theories on the top of their mind, please spout off!
Oh, and Happy New Year!

I went back and skimmed posts from when we got back from Occipitus. Here's the raw notes... I'm sure I'm missing something, so please add what you know. We could also use a list of important NPCs (too many weird names) and who our friends are. Another perusal of Tike's summary posts might be good too.
- City guard is largely gone to war, besides wounded; half-orc mercs have taken over
- Blue Duke took the rest of the martial forces in the city to war
- Last Laugh have risen in power because of the above -- do we have friends/contacts in LL?
- Refugee influx from Redgorge battle
- Lord Severen Nalavant (Lord Mayor) missing for a while; Lord Vhalantru voted in as temp replacement -- "missing" like a lot of people
- Dragons of all sorts attacking refugees and outlying villages
- Pharasma temple locked up; Iomedae bishop blaming everyone else, picking fights with CC followers -- explains why they're trolling the tavern
- Fellian is missing? -- something Nemoris was supposed to follow up on
- Iomedae bishop is a huge jerk
- We confront the half-dragon minotaur Zarik Dhor and are immediately ambushed by another group
- The ambushers’ wizard had our names, descriptions and frequent locations
- Symbol on the list “like the roman numeral II with the top of the second character moved down to be in line with the middle of the first” -- clue to who hired them
- Iomedae Bishop Jerkface unwilling but more likely unable to revive Jenya -- may be an imposter
- Unable to meet with Vhalantru
- Pharasma temple a s!~# show… taken over by cultists of Norgerber
- Find small sheaf of papers between the high priestess, Embril Aloustinai and a man named Fetor Abradius. All but one of the letters are brief reports that allude to a continuing and taxing search for something unnamed. Each letter concludes that all remains on schedule, but that the final answers still allude the searcher. But one goes into far more detail (Roll20 journal)
- Karran-Kural is something you've come across in your research. You're reminded of it from your recent exploration into Vapraks Voice since it is a specific complex from.the ancient spell weaver empire that dominated this area millennium ago before Earth fall, before Thassilonia. It was an arcane research laboratory related to necromancy and ice and rumors are that the spell weavers research was sealed in with them during the mysterious events that suddenly ended their reign.
- Ike Iverson wtf is this guy?
- Portal to KK, and cage thing

Of note, the NPC tab from.the old Shackled City Journal should still be mostly current. I try to keep up with it. Let me know if anything I missing and I actually think you can add ones

From Nemoris upon your return from Occipitus
So am I reading this correctly that minus these 5 items, if we sell the rest we're expecting to get ~ 116,253.48 gold (or about 23k gold each)?
headband of inspired wisdom +4
kauronphon loot
headband of alluring charisma +2
ring of protection +3
amulet of planes

Did we level up? I honestly can't even remember the last time we did and what we have done since then, I think it's been about a year since the last one, but honestly I am not sure we have really done much in the last year...
