"With all the commotion you've stirred up in Bloodcove, perhaps leaving through the docks might not be in your best interest - that's a good place to get knifed and dropped in the sea. Exiting Bloodcove is relatively easy, but less than a mile from the city the road leads to a narrow bridge crossing a small tributary of the Vanji River. On the other side of the bridge stands the Consortium agent from the Witchlight Inn, Na’alu, accompanied by two bonuwat toughs and an unnaturally beautiful bonuwat woman. “I’ll be taking those documents you recovered back now” he says smugly, “My employer would very much like to know their contents.”

Before the party can react he points his staff and speaks an arcane phrase flinging a fireball into the party's midst.

Kelsier charges over the bridge, pulling out his Lucerne hammer as he comes. Once in reach, he swings it over the side of the bridge at the man that threw the fireball.

although I bet the side of the bridge gives him some cover.

As the wizard throws the party his fireball Vanya jumps aside avoiding the flames completely!
"Ehi Na'alu, old chap! Is that the way to greet your old friends? I get the meaning of warm welcome but throwing a fireball at us is a bit over the top as far as reactions go! It would be like me knifing you in the gut as soon as I see you... Unfortunately for now an arrow would have to do" says the taldan girl before sprinting into action and shooting the wizard with her shortbow.

I need clarification on the kind of rolls at our disposal: how high is the water? How strong the current? (meaning an high or low DC for the swim check obviously). Also if Vanya chooses to move on the bridge and jump towards Na'alu (the guy on the lower part of the picture I guess), how many acrobatics checks would she need? As things stand Vanya advances on the bridge shooting an arrow at the mage as she does so

The water is deep but not super deep. The water's moving fairly fast so it wouldn't be a trivial swim check. You would need two acrobatics checks to get to Na'alu, one to pass the guards blocking you and another to avoid an AoO from the female guard.

Enraged by Vanya cutting him, Na'alu speaks an arcane verse conjuring a cloud of pungent fumes amidst the party.
Everyone in the cloud needs to make a DC 17 fortitude save or be nauseated for as long as you're within the cloud and 1d4 rounds after. This is a poison effect. In addition, if you're within the cloud you have concealment from targets adjacent and total concealment from targets further than adjacent.
Kelsier, Vanya, and Kel are up.

Vanya blades connect twice, badly bloodying one of the thugs. She just barely misses slicing through her opponent's neck with her offhand.
Kel's magic missile pelts Na'alu but doesn't seem to cause much damage.
The thugs hesitate at the edge of the toxic cloud but the female guard charges headlong. She swings at Vanya with a fist.

Attack and move back a couple of spaces to avoid a full attack. Also a question: can Vanya take an acrobatics check in order to avoid the AoO? She's moving out of a threatened square and this causes AoO in so doing she should be able to use acrobatics to avoid AoO, I think

Are we really going to hand over the documents and fail the mission? And can we trust him? Vanya has 10 hps left not enough to take on a wizard some sort of construct and 2 goons alone but we have wounded them pretty badly (taking down no one yet) we can surrender but we all need to agree imo
@ Klesier: Don't worry, that fireball at the beginning gutted us (maybe next time don't charge that far away so you can't be healed though)

Even if you don't speak bird summons understand basic commands.
It's a tense exchange but Na'alu makes good on his promise. Once the documents are handed over, his goons and the bizarre construct-woman back off allowing the party to recover Kelsier.
"I suggest you don't return to Bloodcove", the mage says as he looks over the journal and gestures for his men to withdraw. "The Aspis will be looking for you next time."

Kel says nothing to the Aspis agents, just walks over to Kelsier and uses his wand of cure light on him, helps him up and returns to Wayne and Vanya.
