Abu looks at the woman, then pulls out his coin purse. Upending it on his hand it shows only 15 gold, 2 silver and a few copper. "As I've said, i've been with these guys all day and haven't had any opportunity to go buy anything. If i did take your purse with the 48 gold you've said you had, i would have three times more than what i have." After a moment, Abu puts all but one gold in his purse back. At this Zomith is fuming.

"Alright! No more chances! Boys! Bring me the halflings neck! If his friends interfere then kill em too!"

Zomith raises her weapon in the air and the four humans beside her do the same.

"Now!"

DM rolls:

It comes from all directions, so fast that you aren't even sure you were under attack. Everyone but Abu is shot at with an arrow.

The arrow aimed at Krogar snaps against his chainmail, unable to penetrate.

Darwin's improved fighter reflexes lets him dive out of the way.

Vikrael manages to sidestep the arrowing flying at him in swift motion.

Jamenas is struck with an arrow is dealt 4 damage

Dessarin isn't so lucky as he is struck and takes 9 damage

It's clear to you all now that Zomith was read, maybe even planning for things to go the hard way, and she has a big nasty smile on her face as she prepares the great axe in her hands. It was easy enough to gather up all her favors to round up a force of a considerable size.

"I'm going to enjoy cutting up your friends and saving you for last." she growls

"You, You, YOU MURDEROUS HOBO! I expected my gruff friends to be the instigators but this will sooth my guilt having dispensed all of you!"
With that Dessarin speaks into the mind of Zomith, "what a delicious mistake you have made you fool, muahahaha!"
Opening his mouth he almost seems to vomit strange bits of green and sometimes blue fire at the three enemies to the western side of Darwin, casting Faerie Fire.
Then coughing a sickening wet cough, he shakes his head and uses his forearm to wipe the spittle from his mouth. He seems to almost fall forward to the ground, his arms slowly bracing to catch him but changing while in mid air. In a breathtaking moment, he had rapidly become a large brown bear. He moves as close as he can to the left of Darwin, to the point that the arrow sticking from his collar bone can still be seen among the newly sported fur. The arrow's feathered tail pointing right into the face of the annoying orc woman.

December 26th Update

Both attacks of Darwin's strike true. Zomith is able to back up enough the stabs are shallow, but still, she's bleeding lightly. She smiles at Darwin's warrior spirit.

" I thought I about leaving you with a broken leg, but then I decided I don't like you."

Zomith roars into the air.

"Leave em sobbing and beggin for mercy! But leave the halfling for me!."

Abu is silent a quick as he places his dagger in the nearest man's side. He grunts in pain as Krogar also bashes him with his quarter staff. On the verge of passing out, he drops his weapon, and acts as if he want's to flee.

Jamenas increases his defenses, readying for the next onslaught of attacks that are sure to come.

Zomith and the men beside her gasp as Dessarin vomits his spell onto them before transforming into a large bear that looks down threateningly at his enemies.

DM rolls:

Dessarin, in the future if you could post which class you are casting the spell from and the DC of that spell, I would be appreciative. It would save me time trying to jump around you character sheet.

But if I have this right, your spell has a DC of 13 to dodge, and one enemy technically moved before your turn, it only hits two. You could get three enemies, but it would also hit Darwin too. Your decision.

Zomith manages to dive out of the way of the spectral fire Dessarin spits up, though her cronie isn't as lucky and gets a full helping of it.

Zomith herslef is angry at the sudden turn of events, cut off from her main target, she turns to Darwin and attacks recklessly.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Note this is not a flanking thing. She has an ability that gives her advantage on all her attacks. However....

Zomtih strikes but Darwin, years of combat expertise behind him, makes quick work of her attacks and parries them with efficient movements. Zomtih isn't paying attention to her surroundings, only on trying to deal as much damage as possible.

All attacks against Zomith can be made with advantage. In Vikrael's case, I can roll his extra dice for him.

As Vikrael has already posted, Darwin is up. Once again, feel free to post default actions in order to speed things along. Keep in mind though the battlefield can change.

Krogar only: Insight Check 12:

While you can see Zomith is enjoying the fight, even if she has taken a lot of damage, there isn't necessarily malice in her eyes (well, maybe for Abu). There's a mix of anger, pride, and determination.

Krogar only: Insight 15:

There is no murderous intent in Zomith's eyes. She may be angry as hell, but she isn't looking to kill today. Any declarations as such are probably just threats to scare.

"I'm simply reclaiming what's mine!" Zomtih declares. "If a little shit stole your sword and armor and refused to give it back, you gonna just give up? If he's stubborn, then you gotta bust his head until he understands!"

Abu's action will be taken into account after Darwin's post.

They act on previous orders, leaving Abu for Zomith as they attack the rest.

Krogar is hit by two arrows, one sinking deep into an open spot in his armor. 21 damage

Darwin, an expert in combat, manages to deflect the attack of the man in front of him and an arrow that flies at his leg, but does not have enough time to dodge the second shot. 6 damage

Jamenas, though more resilient with his shield of faith, is caught off guard as the two men that surround him strike him with heavy blows. Even worse, an arrow comes flying across the field and sinks into his shoulder. 16 Damage, DOWN.

Vikrael, fresh off his intense barrage against Zomith feels a sharp pain as two arrow sink into his back. He staggers before looking up and being blindsided by a hard blow from a mace. 18 damage

Dessarin, towering in his bear form, draws the ire of the man in front of him. He sustains a blow, his thick hide absorbing some but not all of the impact. He roars though when an arrow pierces his hide. 8 Damage

Dessarin, Abu, Krogar, Jamenas actions are next. Though everyone is free to post their default or character actions. Action will move forward when the four players report their moves.

Dessarin and Abu have posted default actions, which means just waiting for Krogar and Jamenas to proceed.

Remember, you don't go below 0 hitpoints. but each additional blow is 1 failed death saving throw. 3 of those and you're dead.

Jamenas you can go ahead and take an action now that you're healed. Remember you're technically currently prone from being unconscious. Also, Dessarin not sure why you rolled new attacks when your previous attack had not been factored yet. I'm going to use you previous rolls and void out your new ones for now.

December 26th Update

This is technically the 2nd round of combat. Th initiative is as follows: Darwin, Cronies, Dessarin, Abu, Krogar, Jamenas, Zomith, and then Vikrael.[/ooc]

The Cronies were lying in wait of you all so they got a surprise round with one attack each. Since then you've been peppered with arrows twice so we're in the middle of the 2nd round.

December 26th Update

Correction to Abu's statement. As you attacked the nearest person to you with Krogar, it was him who was gravely wounded who tried to retreat. Zomith hesitated, but I wouldn't call that fleeing.

Dessarin attacks Zomith with a wild animals ferocity, tearing into her as if she were his next meal.

Note Dessarin, you do have a multi attack but it is specifically one bite and one claw, not two claw attacks. I will be rolling the damage for you but using the attack to hit dice.

Dessarin bite attack: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Wow....my best rolls always go to you guys....

Abu releases two strikes to finish off his enemy before moving onto Zomith, but the man manages to get out of the way of the halflings short swords.

Abu, you do not have advantage against the man you are trying to kill. You can use sneak attack because Krogar is right there with you, but it doesn't give you advantage. Also, Sneak attack is only used once per turn. If you had missed with the first attack, I would apply the second attack if that hit. But both missed.

Krogar works on keeping everyone alive. He clutches his holy symbol closely and lets the diving energy flow freely. Jamenas feels much better as does Krogar himself.

Jamenas himself, just revived from death lashes out violently against the nearest man. His blade sinks into the man's flesh. Smoke rises as cronie screams in pain.

And then...a large thud sounds as a large battle axe hits the ground. All eyes turns as Zomith falls to one knee, her face and left arm bleeding profusely. There seems to be a large dark red spot under her leather armor. She tries to rise back to her feet, but falters. Her face grows paler, and then, she falls.

"Wait! Wait! One of the men to her side yells to you all, everyone who's fighting and may not have noticed what just transpired.

"Wait!" he asks again. He holds his hands open, though his mace is still on his possession, the leather strap holding it to his wrist.

"Look, you can keep the gold. We'll forget about your little friend robbing Zomith blind. Just-Just let us patch her up and we'll go. I'll convince her not to come back for you, alright?"

Combat is still technically going on, and while none of the cronies have completely surrendered or dropped their weapons, they do not have them directly pointed at you all.

If you guys decide to keep fighting, we will resume initiative with Vikrael, or you guys can stop combat for now.

December 26th Update

The man who spoke before scowls and seriously thinks to himself.

"Her life or her honor..." he mutters under his breath. Its almost as if the choice he is making is agonizing for him to make, but eventually he does indeed make it.

He walks up to Abu, his weapon is sheathed, and nothing but the look of hatred in his eyes.

"Boys, get Zomith some aid. When she wakes up we'll have to find new work elsewhere since I don't think she'll be satisfied is she stayed in town. Me....I might not be going home tonight."

He leans down and whispers so only Abu can hear as the men gather up Zomith. They start walking away, a few have hands on their weapons just in case. Zmoith is groaning, but she's recovering from the healing Krogar gave her.

Abu only:

You definitely get the impression that Zomith told him what she suspected.
"She hates thieves, you know? Reason why she's a mercenary, to keep shit like you from taking someone's savings because he feels like it. But its these friends of your's I feel the most sorry for. Poor guys, don't even know they got a turncoat in their midst. Just promise me when you run off with their valuables, you give them this for me."

The man leans back, finished whispering to Abu and spits a large, disgusting hunk of saliva on his face.

"Your halfling friend is whatever he says he is. No harm done. We'll be on our way."

He stands there, waiting. If nothing violent happens, he leaves with the others. Some look like they definitely want to keep shooting arrows at you all, but (if no violence or aggressive action occurs) they leave.

Krogar's good mood entirely gone, he says to the party,"We'd best get moving, I'm pretty sure we've overstayed our welcome here. Zomith might not be coming after us, but who knows which of her other friends might."

If no one objects, Krogar will lead everyone to the Sumber hills.

Hook
The Fugitive
You are on the trail of a ruthless murderer, Bastian Thermandar. Know as an arsonist who burns his victims to death, he has fled to the Dessarin Valley, where your trail currently leads you. You must bring him to justice

Krogar was out with his mercenary company, the Silver Shields, fighting orcs in the Sword Mountains, and after a successful campaign, he returned to visit his hometown, to find some of his clan dead, many others hurt and their houses burnt down. The cause? A human named Bastian Thermandar, who was given shelter, but repaid the clan’s kindness by going on an arson spree. Krogar has applied for leave from his mercenary company, vowed to hunt the arsonist down and bring him to justice, and has tracked him down to Dessarin Valley.

Krogar is gruff and has no time for polite niceties, like most of his dwarven buddies. He is also as stubborn as a rock. However, once you get to know him better, he is a staunch and loyal friend who will stand beside you no matter what happens. He does not give his word often, but if he does, he always fulfills what he promises, and he detests people who make promises they don't keep. He values family and friends above all else.

Hi, I'm rather new to this 5e character creation business(and 5e as a whole). Please inform me if I've screwed up in any way.

Months ago, Gar Shatterkeel destroyed the your ship by conjuring a powerful storm. Dozens of sailors died, and now the character intends revenge. Hunting him down has proven difficult, but you have heard he hides somewhere along the shores of the Dessarin River.

Backstory: Vikral grew up in the city of Luskan an orphan in the streets of that rough city. Living in the shadows of the Captains and their dark allies the drow, Vikral quickly learned that power only respects power.

Once old enough he joined crew to sail the seas and perhaps even profit from piracy if it came to it. Soon enough he realized that he was not cut out for the intensive labor the life of a sailor would require. While tireless his frail frame had difficulty performing some of the functions on the ship.

Still he made sure that his toughness shown through never backing down from a fight. His reputation for a being a tough, if not competent, fighter grew and he was able to avoid fights through intimidation via a silver tongue rather than actual fisticuffs.

That silver tongue caught the eye of the weather wizard, Aldous Marouf. An aging bachelor wizard, Aldous had no one to pass his legacy on to, at least until he met Vikral. After a few years on the crew of a Kurth ship, Vikral was brought under the wing of Aldous. Six years was a long time to be apprenticed and to serve on a crew that changed personnel so frequently.

Now nearly 30 sitting in a tavern in an Inn at Red Larch, Vikral thinks fondly of that crew, his sponsor in the Art, and laments the bastard that sunk the ship, Gar Shatterkeel. He is around here, somewhere in this area of the Realms and Vikral will find him and give him pay back to be certain...

Wealth: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

So I had this idea and just basically ran with it from beginning to end. Took a while to track down a 5e reference book. I've played the system once before but unfortunately had to stop. (Had a bard duelist in that one who was so much fun!)

Here is Zeek, an Aarakocra Barbarian. I went with the Defeat the Skyriders option but with a twist. Zeek can already fly! And naturally he's a Barbarian with the Eagle totem. Could not resist that. He'll be ducking in and out of combat when he can but that doesn't mean he can't stand his ground if he needs too.

He won't be as strong as a race with strength as a bonus, but the whole culture just speaks to undisciplined warriors, and the moment I saw the eagle totem I knew what I had to do. Outside of combat I see him as a scout and hunter. Especially thanks to his background. He can provide for the group in lots of areas!

PERSONALITY & BACKGROUND
Ideals
-Respect
-Family (Modified. Less about blood and more about bonds)

Bond
The Daawsun (Dawson when pronounced right) family is the family that saved Zeek and gave him a home for a few years. He is more then just grateful to him. They are his family now.

Flaw
Naive and unlearned, Zeek can be easily tricked or swayed that certain things are 'the way they are' with ground folk. He's very adept at surviving and fighting but he was young when his tribe was killed, barely a hunter, and though his time with the Daawsun family has taught him a few things he has never been to a settlement larger then the one the Daawsun family is at.

His high wisdom does mean he'll likely learn in time, with help, so I may end up having to trade this flaw out for another flaw. Or it might come to represent a more natural sort of intuition that doesn't translate to socializing.

Zeek's Story:
Chaos. Nothing but chaos. This is the last memory Zeek has of Zeek's clan. It came so quick, like a storm of blades and monsters. Then he was falling. The Fall. The End. The Ground.

How Zeek survived he knows not. The ceiling should have killed him. The Fall should have killed him. The hay could not save him. And yet... it did. With some help from those who owned it.

Zeek will start at the beginning. Before... before the Fall. Before the End.

Zeek was flying with his tribe, hunting for food. We had learned to avoid taking from the ground folk. They got angry when we did. Came at Zeek and his family with bows. It was strange how they 'herded' these creatures but we learned to watch for the signs and in the end there was plenty for all in this land.

This day, the Hunters flew. We needed more meat for the young ones who could not fly. Zeek had hunted before but never for so many. Then they came. One moment the skies belonged to Zeek and the birds. Then there were... Others. Creatures like the Pony's that the ground folk road but with wings. Atop their back rode ground folk in metal and carrying metal.

Warriors.

We tried to fly around but they gave chase. The Hunters were not to be hunted. We spun about to deal with these would be hunters, but found our simple wooden spears ineffective against their metal. Their mounts even wore it. It slowed them but the advantage it gave was undeniable.

They retaliated.

Zeek Fell. His Tribe Fell. Then there was blackness. Then pain.

Pain meant life. Zeek survived! Only Zeek survived...

The Barn. The hole in it was Zeek Falling. The Ground Folk... They found Zeek... and they took him in. They healed him, though it took many months for his wings to recover. Zeek knew pain... Many pains. Word of other Hunters found. None alive. All dead. The tribe must know. Zeek worked hard to regain his strength. The Ground Folk, so kind, helped him.

Reluctant but needful, Zeek left Ground Folk and returned to nest. All dead. Feathers found. Hair found... Metal found. The would be Hunters. Ground Folk that Flew. They had tracked Hunters back to Zeeks nest and... and...

Zeek felt anger. Such anger. And pain. Such pain. Alone, he flew, wishing to Fall. Without realizing he flew to the Barn. The Ground Folk were still there. Hearing Zeeks tale, they wept with Zeek, and offered him a new nest in the Barn.

In return, Zeek hunted for them, for his new tribe, the Ground Folk tribe known as the Daawsun family. He earned his keep. He learned the land. And he grew happy again.

Then they came. The Ground Folk that Flew. The Daawsun hatchlings called them... Feathergale Knights.

Anger. Such Anger. Zeek flew as they landed. Waited for them to separate. Watched as they came to each farm in the area to take, to kill. One by one Zeek killed the Knights. His talons tore their throats. Then his hands took their weapons and he used those to pierce their metal.

Three died. Most escaped. Zeek intends to follow. The Daawsun family says Zeek should not, should stay and hide. Zeek cannot. His new tribe was attacked. He must... Must protect them. Now he has a metal disk and metal weapons too.

No more family will Fall.

Ken's unnamed - Half elf Sorcerer Barbarian
Abu Al'Her - Deep Gnome Rogue
Vikral Ramshaan - Human Wizard Abjurer
Jamenas - Half elf Paladin Druid
Darwin - Human Fighter
Gauls Marcus Arvitus - Human Battlemaster (willing replacement)
Krogar - Dwarven Cleric of Life
Zeek - Aarakocra Barbarian

Expect a decision by Tuesday. Once again, thank you all for applying.

Awesome! Yeah, sorry about that late submission. Passed out on Friday sometime during the day. It had been a looong morning. Thank you for considering Zeek!

Sorry I didn't finish my submission (Taradin Stormfury). Truckload of life hit this week with a family member in the hospital. If my Sorc/Barb would fill a niche that no one else would, I can finish him up pretty quick, but otherwise it looks like you have plenty of other great submissions. So good luck to the rest of ya!

After careful consideration, I have decided on group. Thank you all for applying, and if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Would the following characters please report to the discussion thread.

Dessarin the Deveived
Vikral Ramshaan
Abu Al'Her
Krogar
Darwin
Jamenas

I will create my profile tomorrow, thanks for the selection DM!

Popping in, yes I know con is slightly off, I'll fix it when I get to a comp. I also made a minor tweak, switching proficient skills from Persuasion to Insight. Also, my background gives proficiency in one type of land vehicle, but I don't know what options there are for land vehicles...

Thanks for invite!

Also please be paitent with me if I happen to ask too many questions as I've only played a single 5e game before this and all I know from Forgotten Realms is from R.A Salvotore's books - Companions of Mithral Hall, The Cleric Quintet and the video game Neverwinternights 2 (which is not considered canon).

I should have a profile up shortly, if my work computer will ever finish updating.

Hola, I am very interested in this campaign, but I was curious if you are allowing feats at the requisite levels. Also I was interested in using the variant human stats where you gain a feat and pick only two scores to get a +1.
