Krogar Ironfist |

"We're looking for the delegation that went missing in the Sumber Hills not too long back. We heard they've been taken by water cultists. Have you seen the delegation or any water cultists?"Krogar asks.

Abu Al'Her |

Abu looks around, to see if he can see anything shiny or dangerous.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

DM Default |

"We don't know anything about that!" the guard calls back. "So you and your friends can go f%%# off. We're busy with repairs!"
The guard seems pretty adamant.
You don't really see much, I mean, you are on a somewhat traveled road.

Krogar Ironfist |

insight: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Krogar raises an eyebrow trying to decide if they REALLY don't know anything about that.

Abu Al'Her |

Abu stares at the rude guard. "Repairs are always a pain, we could help you out, but we are looking for these people." he scratches his chin, "Say what, tell us what you know about them and we can help you out."

DM Default |

Huh...post was eaten.
"I told you lot! We don't know anything about a delegation so would you all kindle go f!+& yourselves!"
The guard is getting increasingly agitated, especially so that he's being ignored.
While ill mannered and foul mouthed, the guard seems to be telling the truth.

Krogar Ironfist |

"We should be on our way, guys, these people don't know anything about the delegation or the cultists. Likely they're holed up somewhere else." Krogar tells the party.
"Any strange happenings around here?" Krogar asks the guard.

"Darwin" |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Seems completely reasonable sir dwarf. You folks have a pleasant day."
Darwin will then move on down the road as if he expects people to follow him.
Once out of sight, he will turn to the others and say "they're the cultists, aren't they?"

Krogar Ironfist |

Krogar will follow Darwin after exhausting conversation opportunities with the guard.
Once out of sight
"I don't think so. The guard seemed truthful, if foul mouthed." Krogar remarks."And I'm not killing innocent men, just because of a mere suspicion that they might be cultists."Krogar stamps a foot on the ground for emphasis."Let's just search the area, maybe the cultists are hiding around somewhere."

Abu Al'Her |

Abu shrugs. "Guess we just have to move along."

DM Default |

The guard fires a bolt at Krogar.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
But the thick crossbow bolts embeds itself just to the left.
Assuming you leave quickly after that.

Abu Al'Her |

Abu shakes his head, "I didn't even see anything good on their wagons." he looks up as several of the group looks at him. "What?

Krogar Ironfist |

How can we enter the keep from where we are now

DM Default |

The front and what you've seen of the sides seems decently fortified, but you all know that the keep is connected to a river where boats are moored.

Abu Al'Her |

Abu looks around for an entrance, if the main gate is barred.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Krogar Ironfist |

Krogar thinks for a moment of assaulting the keep then decides against it and moves off to search the grounds for possible cultist hiding spots.

DM Default |

Abu and Krogar perform a light sweep of the perimeter, keeping a careful eye to make sure no cranky guards start shooting bolts his way. The walls seem very intact, and you even spot a few sentries posted along the wall and on some of the towers. If there is construction, most of it is going on inside. There is a water front entrance as well, yet that seems to be intact too. Judging from the design, it probalby opens from the inside as well. But as far as easy entrances go...well, you could always annoy the front gate enough to make them send troops out to deal with you.

Abu Al'Her |

Abu shrugs and starts to walk towards the main gate. Whistling while he walks.

DM Default |

This time, Two bolts whiz through the air straight at Abu.
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
While one buries itself in the dirt, the other lands squarely in Abu's shoulder. You all gape at the clearly blatant attack on your comrade, but are surprised when the bolt bounces off. It seems the guard is using some kind of blunted amunition. Non-lethal but smarts like hell.
Abu, you take 8 points of non-lethal damage
"I got full rights from the captain to get every g%*$+#n guard in this place to wail on you so you don't come back. Now leave us alone!."
The guard you talked to earlier is pissed, and rightly so for someone who blatantly doesn't respect the man with the weapon. At least, that's how he reasons it.

Krogar Ironfist |

Krogar retaliates in kind, sheathing his hammer and calling holy fire on the guards.
Dc 12 Dex save or take radiant damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
"Thats for shooting at us."

DM Default |

Dex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
The guard barely has time to duck out of the way, actually you're almost sure he slipped and fell. Regardless, you gout of flame shoots passed him, leaving him unharmed.
A few moment's pass.
A low, rumbling horn begins to sound. You hear bits of yelling inside the keep, and someone banging on a sort of bell. And now the gates begin to open.

"Darwin" |

"I guess we're doing this then."
As the guard dives for the ground in the most awkward way possible, Darwin draws his bow and prepares for ranged combat. As the bell rings, he will put his bow back on his back and draw his rapier while slowly moving forward. When the gate begins to open, Darwin will say "Man, these guys have no idea how fighting with fortifications works. Good thing for us, too." He will then begin picking up the pace, shouting back at the group "Let's go! Follow me! DEATH AND GLORY!" the last part comes out as a roar as he charges the still opening gate.

Jamenas |

Jamenas takes out his longsword and holds his shield in front of him.
VENEGEANCE!!!!!! He indicates areas in which to go
Herd them into one area around the gate.

DM Default |

The gates open to reveal at least 8 combatants in-formation as they exit the gate. Another 4 join the original gate guard above, keeping a safe distance from melee and aim their crossbows.
With their formation in place, it would take a great deal of strength or agility to break through to the inside.

Krogar calls upon holy fire to smite the same one Darwin hit.

Jamenas glares at three members of the guard. His eyes glow red, and he mutters incantations to his god.
I shall have my vengeance!

Darwin quickly lowers his center of gravity, which gives him enough weight to shove the guard he rams into easily, sending him stumbling back by 5 ft. He then quickly swipes his sword across the isolated guard in front of him with expert precision. The gash is large and bleeds quickly and the guard struck falls back onto his backside, in shock of the sudden pain (he's still conscious, but he's prone now).
Abu's arrow flies directly on target, but a particularly strong gust sends it careening off and misses it mark by a couple feet.

DM Default |

The guard you injured is already dead with an assist from Krogar last round. Redirecting...
Darwin swipes his blade carrying it through the rough cover of one of the guards armor, and drawing blood in the process. You can see the pain on his face as he grits his teeth and stifles a yell.
Abu moves around to assist Jamenas, setting his bow back in favor of his sword. A quick tumble followed by a small stab with his weight pressed behind it, you hear that familiar gasp of someone who has been stabbed and didn't expect it.
Jamenas attempts to force the guard to lay down his arms.
Go ahead and roll an Intimidate check with advantage. Add charisma to a d20 roll if you don't have that skill
Krogar makes sure his small friend is in fighting condition, and then moves to assist Darwin. Though his swing is wide, it actually catches the guard unawares and deals damage!
Go ahead and roll damage, that attack hit.

Krogar 8 damage
Darwin ducks the two bolts aimed his way, and Jamenas brilliantly splits the one aimed at him by striking it with his sword. Abu merely moves two inches to his left as the bolt goes whizzing past him just above his shoulder. Krogar unfortunately, doesn't move out of the way fast enough, and takes a large hit in the chest, sending him into sputtering coughs.
Players up. If that one guy doesn't surrender, I'll give him an attack before you gusy *probably * kill him.

It adds my dex to bonus, but don't know what penalties are placed on the attack. But.. with that low number, i don't think i hit anyways.

DM Default |

@ Abu
There is no 5 foot step in 5e, you have to spend an action to disengage, preventing you from attacking.
Furthermore, You may make a seond attack with your offhand weapon, but you do not add your ability modifier to the damage. I know it specifies strength, but I'm going to rule that just as your offhand is not as strong, it also doesn't have enough dexterity int he same regard, achieving the same mechanical effect.

Jamens is successful in intimidating the enemy combatant into dropping his weapons and raising hi arms in defeat, right before Abu steps in and stabs them man in the side, and he drops.

Once again, it seems though everyone got a shot, the ranged combatants are much more wary of Krogar and his mighty staff of subjugation (lol). Everyone else seems to have doged or dodged the bolts.
The last melee combatant runs back into the keep in fear.
