Yeah, between that and Bogen losing two points of DEX, the island effects really hit you guys hard.

Bogenschützen, are your consumables up to date? I thought you'd used a tanglefoot bag on one of the chuuls.

On the road most of the day today; will have a post up tonight.

I will be traveling from Wednesday May 20 to Wednesday May 27, so my posting may be reduced. (I'm going to PaizoCon! :-D) I think I should be able to post once a day while I'm there. But, if I hold up the game for lack of posting during these dates, please feel free to bot me. :-)

OK, I figure I know what you're likely to do in most cases.

One other thing re Bogenschützen's attacks that I'd like to get everyone's take on before I resolve them. In the Environment section on underwater combat, it says that:
Attacks from Land: Characters swimming, floating, or treading water on the surface, or wading in water at least chest deep, have improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves) from opponents on land. Land-bound opponents who have freedom of movement effects ignore this cover when making melee attacks against targets in the water. A completely submerged creature has total cover against opponents on land unless those opponents have freedom of movement effects.
I am presuming that given the second to last sentence the last sentence should be restricted to melee attacks; I really don't see how Bogenschützen's being under a freedom of movement spell helps his arrows. Based on that and the definition of total cover in the Combat section, I don't think that Bogenschützen can attack the skum caster from range without firing from under water (at a cumulative -16 to hit). Thoughts?

How deep underwater is the caster? Attacks with non-thrown ranged weapons take a –2 penalty on attack rolls for every 5 feet of water they pass through. Is he 40 feet away?
According to the table, being underwater doesn't affect my damage. And my seeking bow obviates cover if I know what square he's in.
You'd previously mentioned that the archer had a pretty good idea where he is. If need be, I can walk nearer to him and fire. (Haste would give me 60' of movement.) Just keep the first attack roll.
I'm also fine with simply shooting once, calling it a learning experience, and moving on. :-)

He's not that deep under the water. Your bow, AUIU, obviates concealment but not necessarily cover:
Seeking: Only ranged weapons can have the seeking ability. The weapon veers toward its target, negating any miss chances that would otherwise apply, such as from concealment.
There's no miss chance here, just either penalties to hit or an inability to hit. Do you know if the question of whether a seeking weapon can hit an opponent with total cover ever showed up in the FAQs?
Bogenschützen |
*Shrug*. The wording on seeking is "such as from concealment". Paizo has consistently had a hands-off approach to these things in order to give GMs freedom to apply situational rulings. If you feel that seeking doesn't help here, then it doesn't help here.
I can simply walk nearer to the caster and fire from 10 feet away. Because I forgot haste when I posted the roll before, and because it would be a single arrow, the resultant attack and damage, as rolled, would be:
Longbow+Prayer+Haste: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 30, Damage+Prayer: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
____________________________________________________________
Again: We can simply call this a fact-finding round, and I can miss with my attack and then take a move action as originally posted. :-)

The rules regarding underwater combat are dumb, but since this is a PFS game I think we need to go with rules as written. So shooting from outside of the water into the water would not work.
However, there are no rules concerning shooting bows underwater, and though normally it might not be possible, his freedom of movement would probably allow him to do so, though once the arrow leaves his bow it would suffer the range penalties (-2 penalty per 5'). So if he moved up closer, then ducked under the water, he should be able to fire point blank with only a -2 to hit.

I will be in Orlando for Memorial Day weekend so posting may be hit or miss.

Any other day job rolls? Also, PFS numbers, please.

Bogenschützen's Chronicle Sheet!
Check these over and let me know if I made any mistakes.
Also, as a result of reporting this and Level 3 of Emerald Spire (which I just finished running on the boards), I just got my first GM's star. Everyone's gotta start somewhere, right?
ETA: Even if I didn't make any mistakes, let me know when you get your sheets. Once you all have yours, I'll set the game to inactive.
