Also, just for clarification, Jujanil is only 5ft up, not 10ft. That is to say there is only 1 5ft square between her and the ground, allowing characters on the ground to still hit her. This is what I meant on the map, but looking back I didn't want to make it confusing.

Grundar moves closer and gets ready to defend himself and others behind a wall of metal while Jorah and Wembly call on magical might to go on the offensive. Jorah unleashes a blast of pure light to hit both the undead queen and two of her minions while Wembly calls on slightly more mundane aid who flies in fast and swoops in for a savage bite, but fails to connect. All three of Jorah's targets quickly shield their eyes against the terrible light, but it seems to affect th two monks the worst.

when the crossbow is fired at me?
It seems like something that would be very likely to be done prior to stepping through a portal into the unknown, so sure, I'll allow it. That's a really strange ability, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to actually work. Is it supposed to allow a Slight of Hand from a distance?

It is a weird ability but it didnt hurt to try it out! :)
Andruss Delsine |
Andruss calls for the occult powers to aid them in the battle, summoning a big web to cover the area occupied by the enemies.
The witch casts Web - Reflex DC 16 or become grappled for those on the cyan square marked on map. Also, that area is difficult terrain.
Then, he walks to the back of Grundar.
Just to note: "If you have at least 5 feet of web between you and an opponent, it provides cover. If you have at least 20 feet of web between you, it provides total cover".

Andruss moves closer and then begins chanting, when suddenly the figment of a spider appears in the center of the room, exploding in a small burst of magic and sending very real spider webs out in all directions. Sharaheen moves forward, but then falls down to the ground, dropping to her knees. Suddenly the small glowing light coming from her being increases, lighting the room completely and causing Jujanil to recoil from it's brightness. Sharaheen looks just as confused at the occurrence as you do, but then the light seems to increase again, this time as a pulse. And then again. Suddenly she unleashes a massive wave of pure holy, positive energy, healing all around her. All except for Andruss who seems to react very poorly to the healing energies, almost as if he where undead. He begins to retch, and the energy is painful, but not harmful. Everyone is healed: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 2, 6, 5, 5) = 30 <except Andruss, who is instead sickened for 1 round>

One of the monks manages to step outside of the magical webbing and then runs towards the portal, attempting to circle around and get behind the party. The other two in the middle each try to make their way out of the webbing as well, though have a harder time at it. <Dire bat can take an AoO against Monk 2 and/or 3 as they move.> The last one seems to be caught, as does the Vampire, though both struggle to free themselves, both managing to escape only to flee a little in each direction, though hindered by the light, Jujanil can't bring herself to move.

Grundar rushes the closest, and seemingly luckiest monk, drawing blood with his axe, but only a little as he manages to parry most of the blow away. Mal moves closer to one of the monks that is still unable to see, drawing a small dart and throwing it directly into the man's heart. He drops down, unaware of what just killed him.
Sharaheen looks up, still taking a knee and begins chanting arcane words, though the voice coming from the small girl is not her own, but rather than of a wizened male. Suddenly a new type of magic bursts from her, enshrouding both Andruss, who does not find it harmful at all and also Jorah, protecting them both. (Both gain a +3 Deflection Bonus to AC for 3 rounds)
Two of the monks attempt to attack back, rushing at Sharaheen, (#1 draws an AoO from Jorah and Grundar), and attempting to pound her with bare fists. Only one is able to land a hit, but as his fist slams into her face, she screams in pain as a small child would.

Seeing that she is outnumbered, and literally trapped like a fly in a web, she agrees to talk. But as Sharaheen comes closer to her, suddenly, involuntarily, a foul black miasma erupts from the vampire's fanged mouth. Sharaheen drops to the ground, unconscious, and the light coming from her begins to fade. As it does, you see strange spirits begin to form in a circle around the child, one of them you recognize as Bakten, and realize that these must be the spirits of Sharaheen’s
many former lives manifesting, meeting each other for the first time.
Then the bright cloud surges into Sharaheen’s mouth and the enlightened child becomes conscious and fully healed. The two clouds meet, and then seem to drain away, being absorbed by the spirits, but also by Sharaheen, and as soon as they are gone, so do the spirits vanish. Within seconds you hear the chamber slowly begins to crumble.
The sole remaining monk looks around confused, like he doesn't know where he is or how he got here, but runs towards the portal, vanishing back into the tower you can now see on the other side.
You see all light within the chamber begin to grow dark, beginning at the far end near the throne and moving towards you. But then you realize it isn't growing dark, as not even Darkvision allows you to pierce it, but rather it is becoming nothing, and begins to physically push items with it along the path, the thrones, the carpet, a few chests, all coming right at you, and fast. Grabbing Sharaheen, you dash towards the fading portal, landing hard on the stone floor on the other side only seconds before everything that had been within that other dimension that wasn't originally there gets deposited on the floor next to you, including the corpses of the dead monks.
Two ornate boxes in particular crash hard enough to burst open. One contains coins, including the ones you deposited in the entryway to the lower tower, while the other seems to contain relics of Jujanil’s past
lives. Several of these items are infused with psychic significance:
- Calysses of Bachuan (Pirate): Darkwood ship’s figurehead depicting a kraken.
Marakutis of Zi Ha (Royal Assassin): Masterwork dagger inlaid with jade.
Elris of Tianjing (Missionary of Irori): Specialized strand of prayer beads*, one of which functions as a bead of blessing.
Krenek of Dtang Ma (Dragonslayer): +1 earth breaker* made from the head of an adult underworld dragon.
Qith of Zi Ha (Undead-Hunting Alchemist): Confluence of the Five Elements*, Qith’s personal formula book.
Rianon of Minkai (Plague Healer): Fine set of robes and gloves lined with snow leopard fur.
Ilgafor of Zi Ha (General): Red silk battle standard embroidered with golden wings.
Malash of Hongal (Peacemaker):[/I] Scroll of illuminated prayers to Shelyn wrapped around a wand of holy shield.
The largest and most intricately ornamented box is inlaid with black onyx, and contains dozens of journals. The earliest volumes, written in precise and methodical script, detail Jujaril’s plans to erase records of her existence. They speak dispassionately about “obtaining necessary sacrifices for my ascension to lichdom,” and describe how she planned to harness the combined power of relics of her past lives and a convergence of ley lines to fuel her apotheosis.
The volume directly below those is covered in dried blood and pieces of viscera. The text below it is scrawled in large and messy letters, like a child’s first attempt at writing, and filled with profanities, confused rambling, and the often-repeated question “Where are my hands?” A second pile of volumes details Jujanil’s process of making sense of what happened to her when she awoke from her failed ritual. They include her bafflement that Ryuu stayed by her side after she lost her body and much of her mind, and her awe at the power she must have once had to enthrall him so thoroughly. The penanggalen’s words express a kind of twisted affection that she developed for the elf over the last 3 centuries. In the last few entries, Jujanil fearfully mentions a group of Pathfinders working with her latest incarnation, Bakten, and later smugly describes invading his mind and killing him from within in a psychic duel.
With Jujanil’s destruction, you have stemmed a rising tide of evil in Tian Xia. As you descend from the pinnacle, they see the storm clouds parting, and hear the triumphant hooting of yetis from the nearby peaks. Sharaheen accompanies you to Amanandar, vowing to help them organize Bakten’s biographies for delivery to the Lantern Lodge. She apologizes again for Bakten’s manipulations, and reassures them that she intends to spend this lifetime repairing the damage in Ayajinbo and Dallo. Finally, she bequeaths Bakten’s former home, the Sanctuary of the Unbound Knot, to the Pathfinder Society, recommending that they consider it as a potential site for a future Pathfinder Lodge.
Upon your return, you also find that Lord Mata Ryuu survived, teleporting to reunite with Lady Ishigo Shiori, and begin to work things out after so long.
The End
