Sorry for the delay. Some last minute work stuff kept me late the last few days. Please introduce your characters.
Summoned once more to duty and the call of glory, you arrive at the Grand Lodge only to find a note awaiting you with fairly simple instructions.
Action and intent comprise the scales of karma. Join me in my final place of study, the Sanctuary of the Unbound Knot in New Oppara, to ascertain how past intent and future action may collude to raise the veil of ignorance. The lore and wisdom of two thousand years shall stand as your reward.
Venture-Captain Bakten Shengrah
It sees that arrangements have already been made, and when you are ready to depart, far off lands hold your next mission.
. . .
A flurry of cherry blossoms paints the air above the Sanctuary of the Unbound Knot. A chill wind brings the last gasps of winter down from the Zi Ha Mountains, which legends claim to be the cradle of samsaran civilization. Now, in New Oppara, one of their living legends lies dying within his sanctuary.
Soon, the sages say, Bakten Shengrah is to transcend to the Great Beyond, taking with him all the wisdom of twelve lifetimes and two millennia of lore beheld firsthand. For Pathfinders, an audience with the reclusive Bakten is a privilege indeed. As the gust of wind subsides, a gray rabbit quietly lopes down the sanctuary steps and across the courtyard.
Victoria Hennessee |
"How wonderful. I always wanted to travel to the Far East. There should be artwork and flowers and oh wow...so much to do...and pack!"
The flighty woman with glowing blue eyes beams with excitement.
Andruss Delsine |
Andruss is a little more than 5' tall, his noble Taldan traces are clear for any common observant, specially by his well care beard, a symbol of nobility in his country. When meet the other agents, Andruss is very polite and serious, maintain an intellectual posture.
"Hello, agents. It will be a pleasure explore too far lands with you. I can't wait to meet Bakten Shengrah, I've heard a lot of tales of how wise he is, a man with many lives of experience, I would say".
"And maybe he can be useful for my plans", Andruss smiles after think it.
Seinaru Kage |
A tall man walks in, a holy symbol of Serenrae hangs about his neck. His bright blue eyes seem to almost glow as he looks over those present.
He smiles to Victoria, then turns to Andruss, "Andruss my friend! How good it is to see you again." His voice plays with musical tones as he speaks.
DM Beckett |
I'm working on getting this going now. So far, I'm tracking the following as playing:
Andruss
Eric Brooks
Jorah
Rivani (Need your info)
Seinaru Kage
Victoria
-
But only Andruss, Seinaru, & Victoria have posted here to see updates. Jorah noted having issues, and even this I'm having trouble getting to load/post. I'll be sending out PM's to the others as well, but need to get this going. Just a heads up, I will be deploying in less than 7 days, and I expect a few days without internet access. May or may not happen, I really do not know until it's time. Best case, no issue, but I will be on a European time schedule. Worst case, 5-7days without internet, but I don't expect that.
DM Beckett |
Honorable Pathfinders,
Action and intent comprise the scales of karma.
When the rabbit reaches you, its face elongates to a human girl’s. She introduces herself as "Twig", a strange creature from these far-off lands known as a Pooka. Twig’s speech is choppy and illogical: “Walk-lookers! You! Now! Come! Bakten, friend, good news, dying soon. But woe! Worry and fear. A veiled life. Come!”
As she speaks in her hurried, difficult to follow speech, she also utilizes her innate telepathy to try to communicate with images and symbols, but the mental pictures she transmits are similarly oblique: Bakten bathed in light, or studying old scrolls, or levitating with his face half in shadow.
Victoria Hennessee |
"How exciting. We will follow..." Victoria nods in glee at the sight of the rabbit creature. She will follow.
Jorah |
A handsome man approaches the group, gliding towards them without a sound, his feet never touching the ground as he walks. He is of average height and has a slim build to him, yet is perfectly proportioned and in excellent physical shape. It's hard to judge his age as he appears much younger then he seems, having a youthful glow to him. His hair is a light blonde, almost platinum and with a particular sheen to it. Bright blue eyes that almost seem to sparkle like stars in the night sky look over the group gathered. His clothing is modest, similar to a clerics vestments, and impeccably clean, covered by a mithril breastplate. A gleaming morningstar hangs to one side of his belt and a dark wooden shield is strapped to his back, emblazoned with a blue and silver butterfly, the mark of Desna.
"My apologies for being tardy. I have been recovering from an unfortunate blow from a greataxe that felled me. Fortunately, Desna still had plans for me and allowed me to continue my life on this world. My name is Jorah and I will be happy to join your party. I look forward to meeting this Bakten Shengrah." His speech is quiet yet smooth, almost as if he is talking in a whisper, though he frequently mumbles to himself in Celestial when not speaking.
Andruss Delsine |
"Andruss my friend! How good it is to see you again."
"The pleasure is mine, my old friend!", Andruss greets Seinaru.
The Taldan was only polite with the rabbit-woman, trying to disguise his thoughts about that weirdness.
As the other Pathfinders are arriving, Andruss greets them with all etiquette derived from his noble lineage, always with a friendly smile on his face and wondering to himself how useful each would be.
GNPW PREGENS |
Rivani enters and makes a respectful bow to the group. I apologize for the tardiness of my arrival. I was late in arriving from a previous adventure where we battled a daemon. Noticing the pooka she will attempt to get a reading on the creature casting Detect Thoughts.
DM Beckett |
This tranquil sanctuary’s architecture shows a strong influence of Minkaian styles. A prominent, gently curved, moss-covered roof soars over 30 feet into the sky above the single-story building. At the front of the sanctuary, wide stone steps ascend to the outer courtyard, which features a pristine copper bell decorated with intricate knotwork and several pieces of statuary. A pair of staircases on the east and west of the courtyard leads to the interior of the sanctuary, which is modestly furnished and does not contain any particular items of value or interest.
The earthen floor of this tranquil courtyard is perfectly flat and clear of debris. A 20-foot-diameter circle occupies the center of the courtyard, filled with a sand painting depicting intricate, endless knotwork. To the southeast, four fir trees grow in an orderly row, and to the southwest, a small rock garden peeks out from behind a layer of tall bushes.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
As the group enters the sanctuary, Jorah admires the beauty of the architecture and decorations surrounding them. He notices Bakten acting strangely but he's not sure what he's looking at.
DM Beckett |
Sorry, lets go with 20. I was trying to find if it was listed somewhere (as I just made that roll up), and I forgot to come back when I couldn't find it.
Andruss Delsine |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Despite realize that Bakten seemed to care about something, Andruss strive to not let him notice it.
"Greetings, Mr. Bakten! First I want to thank you for the honor of meeting you, sir. What's so great we did to the gods to you call us here?"

Victoria Hennessee |
SM : 1d20 ⇒ 10

Victoria is oblivious to anything out of the ordinary.
DM Beckett |
As you walk into the courtyard, suddenly a pair of darkly clad figures leap from the roof near Bakten, landing softly and rolling into a fighting stance. Both are covered head to toe in loose fitting cloth fit for stealth and mobility. On each has a oddly designed bladed longspear-like weapon (naginata) as well as a shuriken at the ready, and both also wear a light wooden armor.

Ok, I didn't catch that change. Doesn't matter too much, in this case, though, as you are up first in the normal Init.

Victoria Hennessee |
Not liking being surprised by thugs ( balloons or flowers are fine) Victoria casts haste on her allies.
"Quickly now! Get the better of them before they are ready."
Jorah |
Just an FYI to the party, because of his Tongues curse, Jorah only speaks and understands Celestial in combat.
Jorah moves towards the ninjas and says a prayer to Desna in Celestial. A stream of colors burst from the butterfly emblazoned on his shield toward his enemies.
Jorah casts Color Spray DC:17, hitting both the enemies, and has the Awesome Display revelation which needs to be factored in.
Victoria Hennessee |
Actually with two other aasimar in the party that is less of an issue as a curse.
DM Beckett |
Seinaru calls on divine protection against his enemies, leaving room for Eric to spring forward, attempting to dive his blade deep, but at just the last moment the lightly armored ninja dodges to the side. Jorah, calling on soft words of power, unleashes a multicolored blast of pure light upon the pair.
Will L: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Will R: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Seeing both the ninja drop in a sort of stupor, Victoria calls on her own magical might, speeding up the party, or perhaps slowing down the rest of the world. Directly after the magic begins to flow, suddenly, from nowhere, a pair of shurikens fly
Shuriken vs Victoria (FFAC 16): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 <HIT>
Damage: 1d2 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (2, 6) + 2 = 12
Shuriken vs Rivani (FFAC 13): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 <HIT>
Damage: 1d2 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (5, 2) + 2 = 11
Looking up, you see another pair of ninja on the roof just above where you had just come from. Rivani begins to focus his will, unleashing a mental torrent upon the closest one.

Rivani/Jason, please include your quick combat stats below your character. Especially now that I am deployed and have very poor internet, it becomes crucial for me to run the games.
Andruss Delsine |
Seeing that more enemies are coming from the shadows, Andruss curses one of them (the one with the yellow circle around him), draws his crossbow and takes a step back, staying behind of Seinaru and Rivani.
Andruss uses his Evil Eye giving -2 on his foe's saves for 7 rounds (Will DC 15 for just 1 round)
DM Beckett |
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Suddenly two more ninja's appear from hiding behind small bushes, likewise flinging a pair of shurikens, but targeting only Victoria, their closest target.
Attack vs Victoria (FFAC 16): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 <THREAT>
Attack vs Victoria (FFAC 16): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 <No Crit>

Damage: 1d2 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + (2, 1) + 2 = 6
Sorry. I normally try to spread attacks out more, but it specifies they go for Sneak Attack, and Victoria was the only target within 30ft.

Jorah |
Thanks to Victoria's magic, Jorah is able to reach the other group of thugs and unleash another burst of colors towards them.
Jorah casts Color Spray DC:17, and has the Awesome Display revelation which needs to be factored in.
Victoria Hennessee |
Ouch...hey you meanies! Stop it already.
She casts invis on herself and moves NW
DM Beckett |
The two on the roof are to high to hit without a Reach or Ranged Weapon. You could make a DC 15 Climb Check to get up there, though.
Seinaru moves closer to the ninja on the roof, while Eric attempts to climb on up, failing at first as he grabs a faulty handhold, but manages to make it up. Jorah moves away from the rest of the group and again unleashes a blast of harmless multicolored lights, knocking out one of the ninja hiding in the bushes, but not the other, and allowing for Victoria to vanish from sight.
Bakten mutters a few words, and then begins to float some ten feet off the ground, attempting to stay out of harms way, while the Pooka retreats closer to his position, albeit on the ground.
Eric Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 <FAILED>
Eric Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Will 3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 <SAVED>
Will 4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 <FAILED>
The two ninja on the roof draw another shuriken and launch it from higher ground, then both take a step back away from the edge.
Shuriken vs Seinaru (AC 23): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 <miss>
Shuriken vs Seinaru (AC 23): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 <miss>

Andruss Delsine |
Andruss whispers another strange words...
"Стародавні злі духи часто відвідує цей єретик!"
...and curses the same ninja (the one with the yellow circle around him), but this time, with a more powerful hex.
Andruss uses Misfortune on his foe (Will DC 15 negates).
Then, he moves close to Bakten.
DM Beckett |
It's fine to retcon that if you like. And looking back, it looks like I failed to finish that sentence.
It should have read like: Seeing both the ninja drop in a sort of stupor, Victoria calls on her own magical might, speeding up the party, or perhaps slowing down the rest of the world. Directly after the magic begins to flow, suddenly, from nowhere, a pair of shurikens fly <from somewhere up above, and it's only after they strike, digging deep, you see a pair of ninja hiding on the roof just above where you just came from.>
Victoria Hennessee |
I lost track...are we up? Or is internet still inaccessible for the GM? If so, that is fine, just wanted to post that we are still here.
Victoria considers her next action while invisibly recovering from the several injuries inflicted by throwing stars.
