You cannot perform a swift action using any other kind of action.
The fervor healing though is usually a standard action and only a swift when using it on yourself. So maybe Brianiac will let you use fervor healing as a standard.
But I do not know... I have the feeling Xoud is just going to go through a wall and run away just another time xD
As for the current situation..., as the shout is an area spell, my hope was it could deal more damage to the flies if they work like a swarm, helping to kill them faster.
Kaska of Red Talons
So seriously, if Kaska gets killed off by this thing, which could easily happen and I won't even try much to avoid, don't resurrect her. This isn't even remotely fun anymore.
I'll build a new wizard or something that limits the rolling I have to do to succeed at anything.

Do not blame yourselves Fireday or Kaska. Neither of us has been particularly accurate on this one.
Fortunately we have each other, and together we have the strength to overcome this.
Kaska, let's persist! Next round you will have two attacks, one of those is going to go through!
Fireday! You are key in here! Iomedae blessings are still with you, just spawn your "Holy Strike" blessing on Holg and Kaska swords so we can bypass the daemon DR and deal more damage. Then you use it in yours and join us on hitting the thing!
Viv, I think you have the ability to use force damage instead to bypass this creatures resistances. If you are not feeling confident enough with your blasts, perhaps you can use a flash grenade to try blind it.

I’ve been using force blasts against Xoud this whole time.
Note that if it has SR, that applies against my blasts, if I hit.| Kaska of Red Talons |
I'm telling you Viv, it ain't natural and it certainly ain't random.
Kaska has Improved Critical. She should be threatening a critical hit approximately 25% of the time. She barely hits at all more than 25% of the time.
Viv Voltine
Oh, I'm with you there. I just had a similar series in another game where in five rolls I couldn't score over a 6.
Holg Redhawk
Do you think there is a seed they use based on the alias name or id in the database?
When rolling in the same post the results tend to be average. But when comparing rolls on different posts it might be some characters tend to get better rolls than others.
Viv Voltine
And here's a game where I failed five out of six saves against wyvern poison and died due to Constitution damage.
I dunno how they seed the randomizer. Presumably in a way that just screws some of us.

Level 9
Cleric of Gorum
HP: +9
Feat: Vital Strike
Spells slots: +1 2nd level, +2 5th level
Skills:
K. religion
K. planes
Background skills:
K. engineering
K. history
After much thought between Furious Focus, Vital Strike and Dirty Fighting, I have decided to settle on Vital Strike for Holg's level 9 feat.
Holg Redhawk
So Kaska, what do you think? Do you want to try unlocking the door now or do you prefer us to look for the coccoon?
Holg Redhawk
Mmmm... I am not that knowledgeable about how laser guns work in Pathfinder, but I am pretty sure with a bow at least Kaska could take a third attack with his Iterative BAB in addition to the rapid shot one :)
Kaska of Red Talons
I just checked Rapid Shot and you are correct Holg! It allows 1 extra at highest iterative, post any extra that could be taken.
Holg Redhawk
Yep, blessing is a standard. We all acted, we are waiting for Brianiac :)
Fireday
Holg raised a good question in PM, Brainiac. Does my Against the Technic League trait work against Xoud? He WAS part of the Technic League while he was alive?
Holg Redhawk
I want to point out that thanks to his ghost-touch, Fireday really can crit an incorporeal creature.
It is kind of hidden in the rules, but the incorporeal subtype makes this exception to incorporeals immunity to crits.
That said I think his last post critical failed anyway as he got same roll as Holg who failed too.
Holg Redhawk
I cannot stress enough how good fervor or lay on hands is to hold in front of enemies.
How many times has it already saved Fireday's skin? :)
Holg Redhawk
Any chance we could have an explanation of what happened to Xoud now that we have ended him? :)
Just if it would not reveal any relevant spoiler.
Kaska of Red Talons
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Kaska needs a bandolier to hold all her pistols!
@Holg: Kaska's going to try to piece the scene together and find out more.
Holg Redhawk
I proposed to go back to Torch, but if someone has different ideas, I am happy to abide by a different direction :)
Holg Redhawk
Hi! Welcome to our little tribe of hawks and androids! :D
I think someone knowledgeable would be great. We are sometimes having troubles with that.
Other than that I think whatever kind of arcane caster seems like fun for you in a Conan-like full of robots will work. In my opinion a 9 level full caster would be better for our group and given we are already level 9, you can have fun with some of those kind of builds that suffer a lot at low levels. But I guess you can do with magus or skald if you are not particularly excited by full casters.
Kaska, Holg and Fireday are melee focused although Kaska can hold a laser gun when necessary.
Holg is mainly using his spells out of combat for healing and removing bad states from the party. He and Fireday are more focused on self-buffing than providing party buffs.
Kaska is also taking care of traps and locks.
Viv is our ranged combatant. She has us covered on that department, and she can make things fly! :D
Coen was helping with some blasting, control spells and crafting, but feel free to be another kind of caster!
As for how to tie up with the group... Holg and Kaska are from the same Kellid tribe. If you want to play a witch I would look in that direction for a background.
If you want to play an android, we just finished the tower of a wizard obsessed with gasses research, perhaps you could be one of his apprentices and we can stumble with you and you want to help us for whatever reasons. There was a dead android, Casandalee, perhaps you can be a second incarnation of that one as it seems androids just suddenly reactivate with a new life and forget their previous personality. Or you could be a twin of Fireday or Viv, our two other androids and join us to discover what happened in your past.
I proposed to go back to Torch, so any kind of character motivation should work. Maybe you are interested to research the Scar of the Spider (we are visiting next), you might be interested on fallen spaceships, or into the valuable knowledge found there, or you might just want to know what is going on in the Silver Mount or with the Technique League like us.
Welcome!!!
Fifteen
Hi Holg, thanks for the welcome!
I'm going psychic I think - plenty of Int and Wis to play a classic 'know it all but don't understand you strange humans' android. Will cover all the knowledge and a fair bit of other stuff.
Fluffwise, what happened to Khonnir Bane? I've used this character before as Val's younger sister so that might be doable again if you're headed back to Torch.
There's a gunslinger joining the group too, so ranged should be well covered. I'll focus on utility. :) On that note, what crafting feats would people like me to have?
Holg Redhawk
It would be interesting to discover how a Psychic plays :)
Kaska is more invested on her relationship with Khonnir, but we saved the man during the first book. He has been helping to guide our steps and pointed us the way towards Iavendeigh to find Casandalee.
We just directed a group of azers to go find Khonnir in Torch. In case that might help your story or somehow inspire you.
Kaska of Red Talons
Heya Urram, this is Fenna from our sadly ended Ruins of Azlant campaign back a while ago. Welcome aboard!
Looks like most questions and so forth have been covered, but a couple of things more.
Yeah, Khonnir is still around. Kaska is pretty tight with him and Val. I believe we'll be going back to Torch next.
Kaska is melee focused and occasionally connects with something. She's set up to switch hit and can do ranged if need be. Lately she's been using more pistols because she can manage to hit touch AC more or less on static bonuses alone. The dice have not been kind for a very long time.
I'd agree with Holg on a 9 level caster. We have lots of melee and ranged is covered so we could use a magical boost especially now we're reaching higher levels.
Weapon and armor crafting never goes out of style!
Molly Fairlocks
Hello, all.
This is Molly. With a couple of humans and a couple of androids, she's going to feel a little out of place. She's ready to back her friend Fifteen wherever she goes, though.
Fireday
As far as Crafting goes, Fireday has Craft Technological Item, Craft Technological Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item. I just haven't had much of an opportunity to USE them as we've been pressed for time and resources (I'm still using an unenchanted basic weapon!). As Holg said, a lot of my focus is self-buffing, namely to shore up my relatively poor stat spread. <_<
Holg Redhawk
Welcome to the party Molly! :D
A halfling sniper will surely shine among humans and androids. I am pretty sure.
Welcome to the madness. I miss things at range and make wisecracks.
Oh, if you don't want to play an arcane caster, I can swap Viv for one and open up the field for you to play what you want.
Actually Viv has expressed many times now how the dice roller ruins things for her and would be keen to play a never rolling caster. Given how she already uses force stuff and flies, to me it could feel like the very same character. So, if Fifteen was more attracted by other kind of character and looked at arcane caster only because of party needs, and if Viv would have more fun, I think this idea might be worth looking at. Specially given that with Molly we will be still pretty well covered in the ranged department.
As far as Crafting goes, Fireday has Craft Technological Item, Craft Technological Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item...
Oh yes! I have forgotten about that! Well, given we are probably heading to Torch, we can spend some time there for you to craft Fireday. Xoud has been dead for decades now, we are not in a rush to travel to the Scar of the Spider and find the neurocam. We can use that time to work out Coen's farewell and tie up with Molly and Fifteen new characters so they feel motivated in our quest too.

Another Numeria map, less artistic but perhaps more clear. I have this one physically, it is in the behind cover of "Numeria, Land of Fallen Stars", I greatly advise this one. It has given me a better understanding of the setting and has many inspiring ideas for players and GM's alike.
As I grow older I become more strongly aware of the inspirational power of art. Like... I mean... check this awesomeness:
- The spaceship falling on Numeria
- Fallen vessels discovered by Kellid shepherds
- Numerian plains Kellids
- Superstitious Barbarians destroying robots
- Robot wreckage
- The Black Sovereign ruling us all
- Torch's forging flame
- Starfall
That's the world our characters are living in! :D
Fifteen
Hey Viv, I'm not fussed. If you want to avoid dice rolling I can happily come up woth something else. :) I read one ranged, one full BAB, two divine self buffers and then Viv/Fifteen right?
My original thought for Fifteen is a Numerian Scavenger Rogue which might For?
Kaska of Red Talons
<Sigh> I really should know better, but I'm going to stick with Kaska and hope for better times ahead. I'll stop complaining (mostly) about the dice roller (although I have every reason to). Thanks for the consideration though.
I'm almost positive what I'll do is stick with Ranger until 12th level. That will be 11th level for Ranger, so Kaska will pick up Quarry then. The rest of her levels after that will be in Savage Technologist Barbarian. The extra rounds of Rage and a couple of Rage Powers will be a better deal than anything that's left to get by sticking with Ranger at that point.
Is the treasure sheet up to date? If there's money for it Kaska might pick up a Belt of Dex. I need to find some ways to boost her AC. She's getting shredded in melee.
Holg Redhawk
I noted all the posts where we found treasure. I was planning to go over them tonight and update the treasure sheet.
What about getting some wirejack-tendons implant Kaska? There are not many adventures where you can become a cyborg :D
Kaska of Red Talons
Holg! I'm appalled that you'd suggest such a thing! Kaska would never pollute her body in such a way! Why she'd almost be a machine! :p
She will be getting a couple more nice tattoos while in Torch though. :)
BTW Thanks for handling loot Holg. I'm so lazy and terrible at that sort of thing.
Holg Redhawk
Hahaha, that is true, we are Kellid's, f~~@'them all those robots and cyber implants! We are Red Talons!
Kaska of Red Talons
I do have to admit I was really tempted to see if Brainiac would let me rebuild Kaska into a Skald. This party actually COULD use a Skald well (most parties are better off with bards) and it would be kind of a neat "Now she's the Chieftain" kind of move, like she's starting to take the role seriously.
