The section of wall in question had the hollow sound of wood, rather than stone, when she tapped on it. A moment later, she found the latch that allowed the wooden partition to slide sideways into the stone walls around it, and revealed a natural tunnel leading into the darkness. Tamis took the lead heading down the tunnel, and it wasn't more than a few handfuls of steps later that she can see that the natural tunnel opens into a room with worked stone walls.

Tamis sneaks quietly towards the new room, careful for any traps.

As Tamis made her way into the room, a figure bounded up from the ground to her left. "Ah ha! Adventurers! Finally, someone has come to set old Guapo free! A merchant I once was and again I'll be, now that you have set me free!" The figure capers and laughs before turning to face Tamis squarely, fangs and claws bared. Come to free me and to feed me!" A wave of energy rippled in the air like heat waves, quailing even the stoutest of hearts.

DM Bigrin |

The creature is bowled over by the attacks of blade and magic, falling to the ground in a charred and slashed mess. Tamis looked down at the creature, holding her wounded arm close and staring at the bluish flesh and fang-toothed mouth. She decided she was looking at some form of ghoul - a ghast, most likely, given how strong he had been.
The room was mostly empty, with only a bedraggled chair and a small wooden chest still intact. One wall was completely covered in little marks, like those used in counting houses. If each mark represented a single day, then the ghast likely spent over a decade down here.

Tamis Thimble |

"Nasty little thing clawed me good, but I'm still standing." Tamis replies. Sitting at 31/44 health
She walks over to the chest and inspects it for traps. I really don't trust anything down here anymore
Perception(Trap-Finding): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

DM Bigrin |

The chest was not trapped, and opened easily. Inside was a mound of gold coins, more than can be easily counted, along with a sack containing about 200 pieces of copper. As she inspected the chest, Tamis found a secret compartment in the lid. Inside the compartment was a scroll with three spells written on it.

Tamis Thimble |

Tamis lifts the scroll from the chest holding it up to the rest of the group. "can anyone figure out what this says?"

spellcraft 3x @+14: 3d20 ⇒ (13, 14, 16) = 43
"Nice find! I put the fire on the bad guy this time!"

DM Bigrin |

Wesley spent a few moments studying the cramped writing on the scrolls. The arcane marks were difficult to puzzle out, written in a strange form and apparently for a wizard with only one hand to make the gestures with. The job went smoother as Bob lent magical aid. Finally, the arcane spells were revealed: magic weapon, stinking cloud, and spider climb. (CL 5th)

Trihedron |

Trihedron peeks from the secret doorway, then steps in - "My apologies to all, some sort of supernatural fear took hold of my actions..." - she shakes her head.
Wanting to get this awkward situation over and done with, she adds - "Shall we move on?"
Bob, thanks for the heads up on Inspire Courage - that one would have probaby been enough to keep Trihedron from running :D I guess it would all boil down to who acted first - Trihedron or Bob ;)

Wesley Furfoot |

"Wow, I don't have any of these in my book. I would prefer to scribe them in my book later. Then I could learn these when needed."

Tamis Thimble |

"there is nothing to apologize for sister... This place is not what I expected" Tamis consoles.
Are there any other exits from this room outside the tunnel we entered from?

bob the bard |

would my k Religion 30 know if there any infection to worry about, to put Evangline and my mind at ease DM Bigrin

DM Bigrin |

Tamis - No. Bob - Most ghouls are carriers of ghoul fever.
A humanoid who dies of ghoul fever rises as a ghoul at the next midnight. A humanoid who becomes a ghoul in this way retains none of the abilities it possessed in life. It is not under the control of any other ghouls, but it hungers for the flesh of the living and behaves like a normal ghoul in all respects. A humanoid of 4 Hit Dice or more rises as a ghast.

bob the bard |

BoB faces Tamis & Abroshqualmie
"Perhaps Abroshqualmie your skill in Healing can help Tamis word off ghoul fever. I would hate to see a pearsoon such as she lose one speck of her kindness and Looks to becoming a ghoul"
He says with a wink and a smile

Tamis Thimble |

I made the first save, no infection here. Unless I'm missing something, best not to waste spells down here.
"I feel alright. Going to take more then a little bite from a crazed ghoul to take me down. I don't think he was able to infect me Bob." Tamis remarks.
" Well, with that little trip done, I'm about ready to continue on with this horrible place." Tamis adds heading back towards the entrance they came from.

DM Bigrin |

The worked stone hallway heading south opens into a natural passage that continues another 50 feet or so before opening into a vast chamber. Through the middle of the chamber, a fast-moving stream runs. Rats are everywhere. Dozens of rats in varying sizes are scattered about the room, many turning to see the small glow of light from Abroshqualmie's fist. Near the stream, a woman in tattered clothing is standing before a small pack of rats the size of large dogs. Looking up, she screams, "Help me!" She tried to run towards you, but the rat pack cut her off. She moved again, but the pack herded her around the corner and out of your sight. Her sobs continued from the darkness out of your sight as the rats moved in on you.

Tamis Thimble |

"Rats...That's alot of rats. Fire. Fire would be good." Tamis exclaim in surprise.

Everyone rushed forward and prepared to save the woman as rats flowed across the cavern floor like a flood of fur and tails. Tamis and Trihedron each spitted one with arrows, and Evangline managed to take out a couple more with her massive sword, but it barely made a dent in the tide. The fur wave sprouted teeth and claws as the rats got close enough to attack, but most simply bit into boot leather or armored trousers. Evangline took a bite on her left leg from one particularly high jumping rat, but it was barely a scratch for the woman.
From the darkness to the west, the bare end of the large rat pack could be seen at the foot of some sort of rubble. The woman's screams and calls for help continued from the darkness beyond. The larger rats had successfully cut her off from any chance of joining you, apparently.
