Cool.
Is Plugg going to respond to Doran's other crew suggestions, or should I move on? I've got some stuff I'd like to get up before the ships separate.

Wynifrid |

Wyn is leveled. Took 1 level rogue, pirate archetype.
Get 1d6 sneak attack, Sea Legs as a bonus feat (replaces trapfinding), +2 to Reflex saves.
Skill points spent to shore up existing skills and add 3 ranks in Perception.
3rd level feat is Improved Grapple, at last rounding out her general brawl/disable concept.

Hmmm? [checks character sheet on website and my character sheet on hard drive] Ohhh I forgot to incorporate the discovery into the "Special Abilities" on this website's character sheet. I think I mentioned it in a post on this thread when we hit level 2. It is "preserve organs" (25% chance that critical hits fail). I'll tidy up the online character sheet. Thanks for noticing.

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

Level Three
+1 Base Attack Bonus
+1 Will
+1 total extracts per day
1 new formula: true strike
+7 hp (4 + 2 CON +1 favored class)
+6 skill points Heal, Sense Motive, Appraise, Perception, Knowledge (arcana), Sleight of hand
Swift Alchemy (Ex): At 3rd level, an alchemist can create alchemical items with astounding speed. It takes an alchemist half the normal amount of time to create alchemical items, and he can apply poison to a weapon as a move action.
Feat: Precise Attack

No problem mate. Excellent choice since you get tight in combat. Your character seems very well rounded and I think you did a great job building into the doctor concept!

Doran Tidewrack |

Doran being updated now, changes are below. I've picked up a rank in perform, so he can get hold of a harmonica and entertain, get the stage set for some bardic goodness. And I'm loving that we now have 3 people who get sneak attack - flanking buddies abound.
+1 BAB
+1 Fort and Will saves
+1d8 sneak attack
+8 hp (6 +1 Con +1 Favored Class)
+9 skill ranks: Perception, Stealth, Acrobatics, Swim, Profession (sailor), Perform (wind), Climb (+2 ranks), Disable Device
Trap Sense +1
Feat: Precise Strike

Olli, I was thinking... What if your brother was captured along with Iakob and still a prisoner on Deepmar island?

![]() |

Your call Ollivor, he could have still been in and John can drop the bomb on you about his fate, or he can be safe and sound. It would give a good reason for us to team up to Deepmar.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Sorry I have been away the last couple of days. Threw up a quick post and I will Lvl up tomorrow. Any thoughts or suggestions for Thorn and how he can help the group, I have not looked over my options yet but I will still be favoring the bow even though I have not used it very much to this point.

![]() |

Bow is strong. This last combat made it hard for you, but it really does work well. You have point blank shot, so the next feat to maximise your striking potential should be Rapid Shot, for +7/+7 at 1d8+3 damage per shot. You will need to get a composite longbow, but with a STR of 14 it should not be too expensive. Trap sense at level 3 kind of sucks, but mabey Barcas would let you pick up the Invulnerable Rager archetype that stacks with Urban Barbarian. Reckless Abandon (Ex) should be your next rage power since you won't be in combat as much and you get the +1 to hit every shot. Another option would be a single level in fighter to get Deadly Aim as fast as possible bringing up your damage even more.

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

Thorn, Precise Shot is another choice since it eliminates the penalty for firing into a melee. But medium armor is good too.
I went back to the recruitment thread to see when this game started. Coming up on one year soon enough!
I forgot we were using Hero Points. Good to know for near-death situations.
Also did the group reach a consensus concerning Called Shots? Considering how damaged we get (perhaps the crits against us stay in my mind longer than the crits we make) I think using that game feature might hinder us more than help us.

Thorn Syndergaard |

So I was playing around with the Fighter and I like that I get Heavy and medium armor, plus I get the bonus feat at first lvl so I get two feats to choose and I was thinking Precise Shot and Rapid Shot. I get a better armor and two feats to help the bow keep up with the elven curve blade damage.

![]() |

@Thorn: THat would be quite strong as far as damage goes. Archer archetype would also fit you well if you end up taking any more levels in fighter.
@Olli: I'm waiting on my post until I know what you want to do about your brother, so let me know.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Ok, I took Fighter (Archer), Precise Shot and Rapid Shot for my Feats and Ride, stealth and survival for my three skills. I gained Heavy and Medium armor to go with Tower Shield to boot

Doran Tidewrack |

Sorry to hear it, Barcas. PbP is an interesting epidemiological tool - I've got 2 GM's down with bugs right now.
Hope you win the fight.

DM Barcas |

Update: I am mostly better, but my wife hasn't recovered. My son's still a little sick too. I've lost my voice, which is pretty aggravating. Still, between caring for the two of them and trying to stay alive myself, I haven't had any time for updates. I hope that this will pass soon and that I can get back in my swing of things to get something posted before the traditional slowdown that always occurs around Christmas.

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

Sorry to hear about all the illness in your family. That's stressful.
Take your time in answering this question.
I was writing a post about Vrunyar gaining new insight into a formula (explaining his new extract True Strike) and wanted to get some details correct when I discovered a discrepancy in the rules. The spell list here contains true strike. However under the “Alchemy” section of the Alchemist class in the APG it states that “Extracts cannot be made from spells that have focus requirements (alchemist extracts that duplicate divine spells never have a divine focus requirement).”
The problem is that true strike has a focus, a small wooden archery target. So is this a valid spell choice or does Vrunyar need to choose a new formula?

Ollivor Myles |

It's been a hectic Season for this house, but things may slow down for me a bit more. Starting tomorrow I'll be heading to visit my parents in another part of the state and staying there for a week. Their connection is spotty, though I 'SHOULD' still be able to post. It maybe slower regardless though

Doran Tidewrack |

I have updated the crew lists in the Campaign Tab.
Illness update: I've lost my voice to coughing. Houston's having an H1N1 (swine flu) outbreak, so I hope that's not what I've got.
Barcas - one minor point I noted on the crew list - you've got Hojo listed as being originally from the Man's Promise. I think you meant the Empty Lighthouse.
Sorry you're still sick. I also hope you don't have swine flu.

Wynifrid |

I looked it up, it's one of those flus that can cause an extreme immune system reaction, which is why usually healthier adults can suffer from complications (because their healthier immune systems can actually make it worse). One of the scary things it does in extreme cases is cause pulmonary embolism.
Regardless, treatment is same for any flu: stay at home, rest as much as possible, fluids, etc. etc. If you have trouble breathing, go to a doctor. If you REALLY have trouble breathing and chest pains, call 911/go to the emergency room.
If you still haven't been sick for long, go to the doctor and get an antiviral. If it's been going on for awhile, however, that may not be effective.
*disclaimer: I am not a doctor or health professional.

Doran Tidewrack |

I'll be leaving for a few days in the mountains tomorrow, back on New Year's Eve. I'm expecting limited connectivity and computer time, so will be pretty quiet until next year. Happy New Year to all!

Well my friends... I am going away on business. I won't be able to access the pazio forums for a while. Isaac is going to send me updates via e-mail on the game and we will try to see if I can incorporate my posts via e-mail for the time being being. I won't be able to play off of you much, but hopefully I can still contribute and see the game progress.
Fair Winds and Following Seas

Doran Tidewrack |

Sounds like a long-ish trip, John. Good luck with it, hope to see you back here. Travel safe.

![]() |

Eh.. being away from my wife who we learned recently is now pregnant makes anything long, but you're right Doran, it will be long-ish. Occasionally I can hit up the forums and I will work with Isaac to keep up posts from John. I will be back though, and at this speed of these PbP's I think I will have enough time to be able to write up the post where I put a bullet into Pluggs head.
