The priests who tutored Malthir did an excellent work in instilling piety and moral fiber in him, but when it comes to skill with numbers, it seems they left something sorely lacking.
A total of seven men lie slain in the woods, feeding the wolves and other scavengers, and another we sent running back to the cowardly masters who are behind this plot. But fear not, I will give you a true and proper account of the battle when we are settled.
I see you have done good work here in the time we have been gone. I trust both you and Karina are well - is she back from bringing the radishes to Svetlana? Also, we have several things that Jhod should be told about, if we can pry him away from his busy work.
As Kressle moves to take the prisoners away, Casimir goes with her.
I'll give you a hand. There is a small matter I need to talk to you about as well.
After Casimir helps Kressle secure the captives, he takes her aside.
Malthir has asked me to speak with you about Karina. She continues to pursue him, despite his best efforts to brush her off. Now, being somewhat inexperienced with women and a Paladin on top, he is having a hard time handling the situation - so he would like you to have a sisterly chat with her. Perhaps you can persuade her to find another object of her affection, before Malthir is forced to reject her in a way that is sure to hurt her feelings.
Casimir does his best to keep a somber and straight face, but once he is done talking, he adds, in his usual casual manner. I know it must seem somewhat amusing to have to play these nursery-games - but even though Malthir is fearsome in battle, it seems that on the field of love, Karina is a foe too overwhelming for him to handle.
After he is done talking to Kressle, Casimir seeks out Jhod and relates to him the experiences of the past few days - how they found the statue of Erastil and the blessing of their weapons that helped them in the battle, as well as the foul corruption surrounding the dead unicorn.
Once he and the cleric are done talking, he settles for a bit with the rest of the Guardians and tends to his weapons in his usual fashion. His gaze often lingers on Vaysh, and after he is done with his routine, he moves to sit besides the reclusive sorceress.
You have grown quiet these past days. I hope the harsh work we must do in these lands and the evil we have faced already have not robbed us of the cheerful Vaysh we knew just weeks past. Or does something else trouble you? , Casimir says to her in a quiet, comforting voice.

The mercenary shakes your hand back, and introduces himself in his thick Brevic accent.
The names Eustach. In all honesty, i'm not keen on lying to a holy warrior. I stand for my family, and earning enough coin to keep my children fed. With my equipment confiscated by you Guardians that supposedly stand for redemption and hope, I have little chance of doing that. And i'll have ye know, I din't know nuth'in about no kidnapping or ransoms, we were promised damn good coin fer asking no questions. Generally I try and keep my work firmly in the light, but a mercenary don't always have the luxury of pickin' and choosin' like you adventurers do.
Eustach pauses.
So I suppose i've always been an Erastil man, family values and that. But I think ye young 'uns don't really understand the mercenary life. I bear you no grudge, and surrendered when you defeated my employers. But ye truss me up, march me around the Stolen Lands... it en't right, young sir.

You are right, I don't know much about your life or the life of a mercenary. But do you understand why we would have a problem with you attempting to kill us? What would you want to do to the man that tried to kill you because he was paid to do it? But you are right, we have more of a choice than you do. Still the charges against you could be serious. Your wife and children, what are their names?...What if you could make a life for them, not as a mercenary but as a man that stood for something larger than himself, someone who wanted to build something for himself and his family, would you be interested in that?

As I said, they are my main concern. Actually, young buck, I thought working for the Surtova's- with the leader of said house sitting upon the Dragonscale Throne, was a perfectly legitimate move, and a very kosher one in my line of work.
If a man tried to kill me because he was paid to do it? This situation has occured to me many times in my forty-two years lad, and although i've always defended myself, i've never held a grudge or killed a man who surrendered to me. There is honour among mercenaries. Your Sir Edric fellow seemed to understand this.
Their names? I've got two lads young 'un. Amadej and Grzegorz. As for yer idea, its an intriguing one. As long as the money's good i'd be more than happy to serve the cause of good, but I find I cannae be too choosy in these harsh times in Brevoy.

I re-read his post and caught he had a family already to I updated my post a little...sorry for any confusion.
EDITED to add some last dialogue...
This would not be in Brevoy, this would be here, in the GreenBelt, with us. Once this land is settled we will be staying and will want stong men with families to help us settle here. There might be a place for you, to help us build something special here initially and then maybe a chance to bring your family, if you were so inclined. Think on the opportunity, it could be a good one, and we get to Olegs tomorrow you can tell me your thoughts. For now Eustach, I want your word you will not try to escape, for one thing you wouldn't last long in these woods, the other, the women Kressle that you just met would track you down and skin you alive. As long as I have your word, I see no reason to tie you back up.
To the other Guardians when Eustach comes back from our walk and sits down no longer bound, I have this man's word, Eustach, that he will not try to escape from us so we can determine his fate when we get back to Oleg's. I will take responsibility for him.

Yes, Karina delivered the radishes in short order, and Jhod and his men left immediately. We've had a few sightings of trouble in the forest, but me and the wolves scare off anything that gets too close. The wolves scared Jhod's men many times, but they are starting to get used to them. The children love them, they even feed one of them... Oh yes, this is from Svetlana. she says, handing over a small, heavy pouch of coins (250GP).
100XP each for fulfilling that quest.
You and Kressle see to the prisoners bonds, with the exception of the mercenary who Malthir is speaking to. Sensing your need for privacy, Kressle takes your hand and leads you a little into the forest.
So... Did you miss me, Casimir? she asks with a sultry smile, leaning in close. She smells of the woods, of hard honest work, but you suspect Karina has applied some kind of perfume on her sister, masking the scent somewhat... Indeed, Karina is more fearsome than I could ever hope to be on THAT particular field of battle... Perhaps your lordship is interested in her affections?

            In regurds to the prisoners-
These men we carrying out a mission for good their House as such this attack and betrayal must be dealt with very carefully. As Vaysh makes note of these men are clearly not brigands and as such I do not believe they fall within the realm of our charter. We must take the squires back to the Trading post and find some way of transporting them to Brevoy. The Knight then lowers his head and speaks in a soft embarrassed tone I would like to thank all of you for defending me this day. I apologies that I have been distant especial when I received the letter from the other day. What the squire says is true the letter, forged to seem to be from my Uncle, Lord of the House Orlavsky. It asked me to abandon my mission here in the Greenbelt and return home. It said that the Swordlords were pawns of House Surtova, that my mission here was aiding the enemy… I was torn with what to do. Torn between my House and The Guardians. In the end I wrote to what I thought was my Uncle, I told him that I had given Sworn my sword to ridding the area of the Bandits and I couldn’t in good conscious break that oath. I saw the good we the Guardians were doing in this land and I could not abandon you and our quest. I apologies to not sharing this with you, the letter filled me with questions and I was not sure who I could trust. I was a fool, I have spilt my blood with you, my friends and I proudly will stand with you as protectors of this land.
Although anxious to return to Oleg's and send a message north to his Uncle, Edric agrees to finish exploring the region before heading back to the trading post. Before leaving the Battle field Edic does his best to give the fallen proper burial. If there is a spare horse the Knight would like to bring the bodies of the two knights along with the prisoners.

He whispers a quiet prayer as he draws out his sword and falls to his knees with his face pressed to it, Iomedae, hear my words for my need is great. In my hands I hope to carry something, something that may help to prove your might, your righteousness, and your strength to the people of the Greenbelt. Fenna inclines her head to the priest at his word, "That is fine news, it will be good for the people to have a place to gather which is dedicated to worship. Oleg is kind to allow us to see to their needs at his trading post, but without a place such as this to act as a symbol of the people's faith, it can sometimes be easy for them to loose it."
Later in the night, Fenna retrieves from her pack the three prophecies that have so far been brought to her attention and begins to reread them. Having examined those for some time, she moves on to pull out others from the bundle in an effort to find common themes or styles, but as the night draws on she becomes more and more resigned to the fact that the prophecies will only be revealed to her at the proper time.

I hope you don't plan on a public trial for every brigand you bring back from your travels... he says sternly.
Malthir dismounts and shakes Kesten and the men hand's in his typical friendly manner, Well trouble seems to find us where ever we go. No I don't think that a trial is on our agenda this time. There seems to be some political maneuvering going on, I don't know if you know these men, they appear to be knights from the Vilsinsky family. They attacked us and attempted to take Sir Edric. I am sure he can tell you more about their plans and politics though. When you get a moment I wanted to tell you about one of the men in the group, who I think may be useful to us. He was a mercenary who knew little of their plans. I thought you might be able to use him since we have quite a few folks around Oleg's now and could use more security. We can talk more on it later after Casimir and Edric fill you in on their plans for the squires.

Very well. A mercenary hmm? I could use a veteran to help school these green recruits- someone a cut above the average soldier. Sounds good to me, introduce me later. We'll take these men for now and keep them locked up safe.

You know, we should probably think about building some sort of secure holding place for these types of folks, we do seem to drag a lot of them back. he jokes with Kesten.
Am I starting to crack his shell yet? Malthir has been making a concerted effort to win the man over in the past couple month or so it has been.
Also did I have any contact with Karina while I was at the temple or did she pretty much avoid me?

Karina seemed to leave you alone. You have cracked Kesten's shell, he's simply a very stern and serious individual.
We've had no reports of anything like that Edric. Whoever they were they avoided Oleg's and the surrounding area or we'd know about it. We never mistreat our prisoners, Sir.

That is true my lady, but in the eyes of the Dragonscale Throne, Kesten Garess and his men don't even exist. The tents will suffice for now, and I have recently had some cages and manacles kindly bought for us by Oleg. Our arrangements will suffice for now.Kesten bows.
You receive the normal hearty welcome at Oleg's Trading Post and Svetlana rushes off to tell her assistant chef's to increase the amount of food being cooked for dinner.
Oleg smiles and stays to make small talk for a time.

Edric, are you going to update your armor to the MW Half-Plate or just order the materials for the MW Breastplate? We should easily have the money after the most recent haul. I am still saving for the MW Full Plate.

Later that night Malthir will introduce Eustach to Kesten and give him back his equipment. Eustach, remember what we talked about, I am trusting you that you will keep your word and in return there will be a place for you here in the GreenBelt. An honest living that you can pass along to your family for generations to come. I know it sounds nieve, but as you saw in the battle against the Brevoy knights, Iomedae and Erastil stand with us in this sacred duty. Kresten and the other soldiers are good, honest men. I hope you enjoy your new company.
Malthir will spend the rest of the night talking with the various folk but slightly anxious about delivering the Unicorn hair to Bokken. He suggests they don't mention it to the folk here until we see Bokken and find out the results. He plans to set out first thing in the morning after prayer and welcomes the rest of the Guardians to join him. I assume from out last conversation this potion brewing wasn't going to be a few hours affair, he would have to work with it for days, maybe weeks to see if he could get it to work? If we didn't talk about it Malthir would bring it up to him. We should also bring some cash to think about ordering a couple more potions.

Next morning at the temple, Casimir slips away for a short moment for a private farewell with Kressle, the joins the rest of the Guardians in packing up and getting the prisoners ready.
Once at Oleg's, he sees the two squires safely into the hands of Kesten's men, and then greets the folk at the trade post.
At the fire that night, he treats everyone to stories of how the Guardians defeated the cursed bear and how they restored the statue of Erastil and were blessed for their efforts. He makes no mention of the battle with the knights and squires, nor of the dead unicorn. Perform (oratory) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8.
Once his tale is over and the crowd have thinned, he seeks out Edric and any others who have not moved away on their own business. He brings out paper and ink.
We must send out messages at once, telling of the ambush. I will write to my uncle, who is an agent of the Swordlords. He will know how to handle the situation. Edric, you must write to your family. We will ask Kesten to dispatch some of his most trusted men with these letters, or perhaps even go ourselves.
Depending on whether or not Kesten has anyone trustworthy to spare, Casimir may deliver the letters to Restov himself, especially if the rest of the group are going to spend time going back and forth to Bokken.

Unlikely. Its more likely to be a 'drop stuff off, get out of my hut please i'm a hermit, i'll contact you if this works...' kind of deal. If you can convince him its important to the Swordlords, Kesten will go himself (you've seen enough of his equipment and his sparring sessions to know hes more than capable.)

I will rely upon Casimir and Edric to convey the message to Kesten about the Squires and what happened, but I will mention to him that this situation could be important to our goals here in the GreenBelt and that he should be careful no matter what he decides.
Malthir will ride the next morning to Bokken's and drop off the Unicorn hair. He asks Bokken about when he thinks he will be able to complete the potion and whether or the not boy is still here or back with his family?
On the ride back, So guardians, what do you think is our next step? There is a tree to the south of the outpost with some treasure in it according to the map we have found. Also there are the two groups of creatures to the south, the kobalds and the little blue creatures. Didn't one of them possibly have Svetlana's ring according to Kressle? Shoudl we head there next? The reward form the swordlords was pretty large and scouting the south area would help us complete some of our survey of the immediate surrounding area. Fenna, what are you thoughts on our next steps? If you look at the updated map it would be moving into and exploring A27.

If I may I would like to ask a boon of you and your men. As we mentioned before two of the prisoners we brought back today are squires in the service of House Vilsinsky. These men and the two knights they served, one the head of House Vilsinsky the other a cur sent by none other than the Dragonscale Throne, were in these lands to capture or kill me. I do not know the whole truth of the matter but I fear that they were intent on eliminating the possibility of an alliance between my family and the Swordlords, it is not beyond the relm of possibility that they planned to frame the Swordlords in order to provoke war between my Uncle, Lord Orlavsky, and Restov. This brings me to our favor, we need to get word back to the both the Swordlords as well as my Uncle in order to prevent any misinformation from being spread in regards to these events. Casimir and I will be drafting letters to our respective lords and we need someone trustworthy and capable to deliver these letters as well as the prisoners and the bodies of the two knights to Restov. You and your men have proven to be both honorable and skilled and we beseech you to carry our message north.
Edric then sits down with Casimir to draft his letter sealing it with his signet ring. If possible he would like whoever is delivering the letters to leave as soon as possible.

Fenna nods to Malthir's question, "Indeed, I believe that the Mites and Kobolds should be our next destination, perhaps we will find the tree marking the treasure on our way, and I would like to restore Oleg and Svetlana's ring to them as soon as possible..." the small woman pauses for a few seconds, looking a little bashful, "I would also like to give my prophecies another opportunity to prove themselves correct."

Agreed Fenna, if your prophecies do in fact become true, this could be a great help to our party if we can learn something about them before they occur. Of course predicting the future sounds like a dangerous business...

A feminine voice calls from the outer gate of Oleg's Trading Post. "Hello? Is anyone there? I am looking for Edric Orlavsky."
You see a thin woman near the entrance clothed in a traveling outfit of layered brown and red cloth. She pulls back her hood to reveal her face. Obviously part human and part something, she bears pointed ears, small horns on her brow, and milky-white eyes. Compared to these features, her middling height and dark brown hair are unremarkable.

"Indeed," Fenna agrees grimly, "there is always the temptation to see in the signs that which you want to see, not what is actually there... such will lead to poor choices, and inevitably disaster."

Fenna looks over to the new arrival with clear suspicion in her eyes, the appearance of this woman seeking out Edric so soon after recent events a little too much of a coincidence to be taken at face value... not that the woman's face is something which inspires trust.
Moving herself protectively in front of the knight, she calls out to the stranger with somewhat strained civility, "Hello, I am sure that Oleg will be out to welcome you to his trading post soon, but who are you that seeks Sir Edric?"
