Malthir Al' Dagon |

Round 2 Action
Malthir will march forward to either the square with the torch in it or in front of B8, whichever square allows the straight charge from Edric so I am out of his way and then attack either B8 or B11, whichever one I am directly in front of. pwr atk 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 dam 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Casimir, try to stay with me and focus on one enemy at a time so we can try to drop each one faster! Sword of justice, hold true today
Malthir's sword strikes true and lands a glancing blow on one of the bandits.
Edit: If Edric is not mounted he would just move in front of B11 and attack.
One last important edit, the shield wall should actually last 4 rounds, YEAH FOR LESS ARROWS KILLING ME!

Casimir |

Round 2 attack
Casimir holds the rank with Malthir, and strikes at the same bandit. (or an adjacent, if Malthir's blow is enough to drop the first. Well, actually, according to to the initiative order, Casimir acts first. Anyway, bandits get beat, one at a time.)
Attack roll 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage roll 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
With a lightning stroke, almost too fast for the eye to follow, Casimir lashes out at one of the bandits. The razor sharp Aldori dueling sword slices up through the mans arm, almost severing the limb. A gush of blood sprays forth from a severed artery.
Woo for a nice hit and max dmg!

Fenna Thistleswade |

"Not from this distance I fear," Fenna offers in response to Casimir's suggestion as she fires another bolt towards the bandits, this time targeting the ones stood in the open illuminated by the torchlight, against B11, 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11, 1d6 ⇒ 1, but even without cover the shot flies wide.

Round Two Action
Mounted Combat:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Hold the line Guardians of the Greenbelt! Let us put these brigands to the sword!
Activate Shield wall and move action to stay in line with his companions.
I'll be out most of the day but will hopefully get a post in tonight. Until then Alexander can make Edric’s actions and such. His plan is to help Malthir and Casmir defeat the three bandits on this side of the river and then jump over to the east shore and attack Kressle activating his challenge and charging if possible.
Here are some rolls to user while I'm away.
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Jump:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Mounted Combat:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Casimir |

What is Talia's current hp total? I guess you did not manage to avoid the arrow damage. If all six archers decide to target her instead of us, she will be in serious trouble! Edric may even end up on the ground before his turn is up, with Talia bleeding to death.

Vaysh |

Vaysh finishes her incantation, but immediately begins her next one, repeating the same words as she surveys the field ahead of her. They have so many against us, I must work hard to aid my companions.
Day is done, dusk is here, my dreamer do not fear.
Cast sleep again.

I checked the posts and Talia was still down 2 points when we entered this combat, so she is down 6 points total. That leaves her with 7 points...I guess better her than us..glad I said that out of character...

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Vaysh's sleep spell is rewarded by a cry of alarm from the watch tower; and she then hears two loud THUMPS as she watches two men fall from the tower.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3) = 10
Vaysh continues to chant in celestial as she continues her deadly enchantments, for once not impeded by the threat of melee or a treacherous bandit.
Kressle continues to screech and demean her men; you can't help but feel a little sorry for them. She yanks the bow and quiver from the closest bandit, and orders him to join the melee. Aiming the bow with greater accuracy than her minions, she exhales softly as she releases the arrow towards Malthir, seemingly recovered from the fear Casimir briefly inspired in her.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
She has little more luck than her men though.
The lone archer remaining on the Western watchtower aims an arrow at Talia and lets loose, the arrow flying close but not striking the noble steed.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
The three archers in the eastern watchtower can see that a melee is about to begin, and fire another volley at the warriors, trying to soften them up. Each of them picks a different target for their shot.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
But once again, sturdy armour and shields prove a great defence against the volley.
Then the brave trio make their move. Edric co-ordinates Malthir and Casimir and they advance as one. Casimir cuts one of the bandits down as soon as the melee begins, and Malthir scores a nasty gut wound on another. With Edric focused on their defence, his mount lashes out with its teeth at the bandit that Malthir wounded, but the bite is clumsy and Talia misses.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Round 3 post up shortly, nice round Guardians. Could somebody post your trio's AC's total for me, I think I have it right but want to check it.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Lashing out more in instinct and panic than co-ordinated battle skill, both bandits miss. The bandit north of the log and in the open shifts his position closer to the bank and fires an ill-advised shot at Malthir.
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14
1d8 ⇒ 1
The shot hits the leg of the wounded bandit there, who cries out in pain. The bandit who made the shot seems to smirk at the results of his arrow.
That's for snitching on me to Kressle, you fether! he shouts across the river.
Facing Kressle's expectant glare and having been relieved of his melee weapon, one of the bandits from behind the log moves out from his cover and attempts to leap the river-
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
The bandit clears the river at one of its narrowest points with a leap, and moves to replace the bandit Casimir felled, shortsword drawn. Kressle makes a quick hand motion and the remaining bandit behind the log quickly moves downstream, and takes a shot at Vaysh.
Vaysh you are getting a cover bonus from the trees.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
1d8 ⇒ 5
Showing true marksmanship for the bandits for the first time in the battle, the arrow flies true through the trees and plunges into Vaysh's chest. Looking down at the arrow in shock, Vaysh struggles to maintain focus on her spell...

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Casimir |

Seing Vaysh struck by the bandits arrow, Casimir yells.
Vaysh! Fenna! Get down! Take cover on the ground!
Turning to face the new onrush of bandits, Casimir smiles his now familiar cold smile and says scornfully: Ah gentlemen, how nice of you to join us. We will serve you cold steel momentarily.

Malthir Al' Dagon |

Will roll it first, and debate it if it becomes relevant. 1-20=miss + me checking the light radius on a torch etc.

Malthir Al' Dagon |

See that his opponent is already injured, Malthir attempts a regular attack for more accuracy.
Round 3 Action
Attack the one I already hit atk 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Edit: pushing the shortsword wide on his opponent with his shield, Malthir cuts down heavily removing the mans arm from his shoulder. As the shortsword falls away to the ground, he looks down to see why he isn't bringing it back up. Seeing his arm on the group, the blow catches up with him and he falls unconscious on the ground.
Kressle, I am coming for you, as Happs kneeled before me and felt Iomedae's justice, so shall you. Don't you have the courage to face me?

Casimir |

As Sir Edric's lance plunges into the chest of the bandit in front of him, Casimir swings in low, seeking to finish the job.
This assumes that Sir Edric's target is still standing after taking 8 hp worth of dmg to the chest. If Talia also attacks on Edric's initiative, and drops the guy, my attack is aimed at the bandit directly in front of me.
Attack roll 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Possible crit
Damage roll 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Crit confirm 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Crit damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Well, here's hoping that Taila finishes off Edric's guy. I'd hate to waste a good crit on a guy with 1 hp left. :-)

Fenna Thistleswade |

Fenna winces at the arrow striking into Vaysh's chest, and speaks an urgent prayer as she reaches up to lay hands on the wound, "I beseech the Twelve and One to restore this servant of His herald."
As the Azlanti words are spoken, the arrow is pushed out of the girl's chest by an unseen force, and the wound begins to knit together, CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.
Once the healing is complete, the small gnome points to a large stump near their feet and ducks behind it.
Standard Action: Cure light wounds.
Move action: move to the square south of Vaysh
Free Action: drop prone

Vaysh |

Fenna's probably won't, but the resolution of the sleep spell will. Are B4-B6 doing anything? If they are shooting I'm going to hit them with the sleep, shouldn't have aiming trouble since they have a strong light by them. If they aren't doing anything, or I have trouble, I will try to hit 2 of the guys that our team is in melee with and preferably uninjured. If that isn't happening, I just drop it on Kressle and see how that might take the fight out of them. Would have focused on Kressle earlier, but all the folks she had with her have scattered.

B4-B6 shot at the party last round, but none of them scored hits. Theywill act after you this round.

Casimir |

Whatever you do, don't target the guys we are in melee with. They are already dropping. Barring unforeseen events, we should take out at least two of them, if not all three. Kressle and the archers in the tower are a much better target.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Fenna heals Vaysh and drops prone; taking cover from the arrow fire. Vaysh winces but just barely manages to hold onto the spell and directs it at the second watchtower at K2
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
All three men promptly fall asleep and tumble off the watchtower, landing with horrid crunching sounds as bone breaks and ribs snap.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6) = 15
3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2) = 10
Vaysh your Round 3 action is to cast Sleep again?
Note- people you put to sleep won't always plummet to their death, but these men are extremely cramped on top of the watchtowers; they aren't really meant to accomodate 3 people, and by the looks of it Kressle's had them sleeping up there in shifts too...
Kressle goes silent, and moves south, leaving the cover of the logs to cross the river in the same manner as the bandit who leapt across. As she lands, she draws two vicious looking handaxes that she twirls expertly. She motions for the party to approach; still saying nothing. Her eyes are steel as she readies herself for killing...
The remaining archer on the western watchtower waits to take a shot once a target is isolated...
Readied Action to shoot at a target once its out of melee.
Edric plunges his lance into the man's chest in front of him, while Talia lashes out at her masters target with hoof and teeth.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
A moment later, Casimir plunges his sword through the bandit's heart, finishing him off, and then Malthir's sword lops the arm off his opponent, who goes into unconsciousness screaming. At Malthir's goading, Kressle says nothing, she simply stares at the group with intense concentration etched onto her face...

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

As Malthir dispatches his target, the bandit in the western watchtower takes his shot at the Paladin.

Vaysh |

Vaysh cringes at the bone snapping falls that result from her spell, she looks to her smaller companion and gives a quick nod of thanks for the healing, then repeats her incantation for the third time.
Day is done, dusk is here, my dreamer do not fear.
Since I’m almost up, if Kressle is still so isolated I’m going to hit her with the sleep and anyone near her that is on their side. Avoiding my group.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Feel free to change your action as a result of this post Casimir.
Vaysh drops a Sleep spell centred on Kressle, affecting her two companions. Kressle herself does not appear to be affected, though perhaps she merely resisted the spell...
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
The bandit beside Kressle falls into a deep sleep, but the man in front of Casimir resists the spell. Kressle moves up next to her remaining ally, gaining some cover and striking at Casimir...
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Kressle's main hand axe hacks past Casimir's blade and buckler with vicious speed, cutting him across his midriff. Smirking at him, Kressle waves the handaxe lazily through the air, Casimir's blood dripping from it...
The archer in the west tower takes a shot at Edric, but the arrow soars far over the head of the noble.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Edric declares his challenge on Kressle (will let Edric RP it if he gets time), wheeling Talia around to face the bandit leader, and then striking at her with his lance.
As long as Edric threatens Kressle, you all get +1 to hit her on attack rolls.

Casimir; attacking Kressle instead or stick with your declared action?

Casimir |

Ouch...where did that stroke come from? Damn, she's good.
His chest burning with pain, Casimir raises his buckler and takes extra care to keep his guard up as he counter-attacks the bandit leader.

And we're back to the top! Over to Fenna. Also Vaysh let me know if you dropped prone or not in the previous round.
Updated Map pre-Fenna-Round 5 Map
Edit-Vaysh you targeted your Sleep spell last round, you still had an action though. I've assumed you were casting Sleep again, let me know if that's the case.

Vaysh |

Vaysh begins to flag after exerting so much energy in repetitive casting, she pulls herself together through strength of will, Got to pull myself together, I know that I have more left in me. Then the familiar words begin to usher past her lips once again, though this time her lullaby seems to be draining her own energy.
Day is done, dusk is here, my dreamer do not fear.
That is the last of the first level spells. Got Daze and Heavenly Fire after this. Dropping it on the melee clump, think that I will be able to hit all three before my team comes up to the plate on them.
Not going prone, they seem to have moved past me on shooting as we engaged them and I believe I am going to need to move closer to them soon.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Will Saves for Vaysh's Sleep
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Both of Kressle's bandit allies fall asleep, but once again Kressle seems to resist the spell.
Kressle swings her two handaxes in tandem, weaving in front of the three men and mount. Kressle divides her attention, one axe launching a furious assault to finish off Casimir and the other hacking towards Malthir. Both blows cut through the warrior's defences deftly and hack at the men through their armour, which screeches in protest at the axe's carving into them and the flesh beneath...

1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Casimir takes 6 damage (mininum again!) which puts him on -1 I believe, and Malthir takes 9 damage. Over to Edric, Casimir for a stabilisation roll- DC10 Constitution at a -1 penalty and Malthir's action. Vaysh is out of first level spells as far as i'm aware but has actions left this round.

Sir Edric Orlavsky |

Round 5 Action

Damage:1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Startled by her master’s cry Talia's attacks are wild and it takes all of Edric's concentration to stay in the saddle so he is unable to attack.
Would it be possible to have Talia perform an Aid Another attack next round or is that beyond Edric's abilities?

Casimir |

Casimir wrote:Also, If Talia can't hit on a 17, the question is how much use it is to have her attack?Talia's attacks are a bonus if Edric makes the ride checks; 3 extra attacks a round is always a nice bonus :), and one of them is at a +3
So Edric still has a attack this round?
