Gregor Ward |
You missed my movement. I had moved last turn, and wouldn't have been flanked. I should be in C11, and not all of them could attack me.
Round 5
Gregor looks over his shoulder at where Pai and Crain are taking the fight, "We shouldn't rush too far ahead, or away from one another. If these rooms are any indication, we could get easily outflanked or surrounded."
Standard, Inspire Courage +2/+2 (lasts rounds 5-7)
Crain Tresselmore |
Crain moves forward and attacks the enemy struggling with Pai.

DireMerc |
the two flanking missed anyway so Gregor was hit once for 5 damage then and another took a swing at Drakus and missed instead.
Drakus drops a queen's physician striking him twice (the one at d10 is down)
Crain strikes the priestess in the back. She reacts by moving into the corner were Mai was (correctly guessing she had moved) and taking a swing in the space were Mai moved. She correctly assumes Mai would try to flank but still fails to connect a blow.

Crain Tresselmore |
"Remind me to never piss you off, milady," Crain says with an extra flourish-y bow.
Mai Asta Isabella |

Just after Mai sees the result she quips
"You've just been terminated, you b**ch."

Gregor Ward |
Round 6:
Gregor strikes out once more at the one within the doorway to the north of him. He is concerned with removing himself from the middle of them, so he backs himself into the corner. As he does so, he calls out, "Crain! Pai! Do not get too far from the group. That is how we lose one another! Besides, we can't leave enemies at our backs, it is poor tactical planning!"
Standard, attack B11 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 22, damage 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8
Free, 5' step to C12
Crain Tresselmore |
"Well come the hell on then...we've got business to attend to! Dancing with them isn't doing us any good,"" Crain yells at Gregor, as he casts Shield yet again, knowing his magic had expired.
Crain Tresselmore |
Crain ain't waiting...that's not his style. After casting his Shield spell, he's following the doctor the next round.
DireMerc |
Crain kicks down the door to follow the doctor not giving him time to run.
The reek of burning wax wafts through this morbid chamber, with several tall, misshapen candles being the apparent source. Workspaces strewn with tall beakers of foul-colored liquids, parchments covered in insidious symbols, and cages of whimpering rodents fill large alcoves in both the northern and southern walls. A pair of huge stone doors hang ajar to the east, revealing a long hallway leading further into the dark. At the room’s center stand four large, cylindrical glass vats, each filled with a bubbling emerald fluid that tints the chamber’s light a noxious green. Within each suspension floats a malformed abomination— something part man, part angel, and part horse—things of half-formed muscle with dead, fleshless equine skulls. Three of the forms are motionless and still, but the fourth twitches now and then with life and magical rune circles glow at the top and bottom of it's glass prison.
Davaulus seeing Crain hot on his heels runs up to the vat containing the living creature.
"Deamon!" says Davaulus I propose a deal. Vow to destroy this intruder and I will grant you your freedom."
The creature nods and Dr. Davaulus quickly deactivates the magic field keeping the creature contained. As soon as the runes are off the creature breaks free breaking the glass and grabbing Davaulus by the throat.
"Foolish mortal! Devils make deals not Deamons! I will make you suffer for my imprisonment." it says in a raspy voice as Davaulus
screams in pain and terror as the creature drains him of life somehow.
Dr. Davaulus was at ~60hp and is now at 1 hp
Crain Tresselmore |
Uh oh!
"Well, hmm. Guys, things went from bad to worse in here," the normally aggressive Crain calls back out to the others, as he watches the scene play out in front of him. "Now there's a daemon loose, FYI.
DireMerc |
Well glad to see your back! However there is no enemy near you. While I npc-ed you I had you use 2 channels and a cure serious wound. Right now all the ennemies in the previous room are defeated and Crain pressed ahead closely followed by Mai. Drakus, gregor and Donagar will need 2 rounds to catch up.
Gregor Ward |
"Bad to worse indeed..." Gregor mumbles as he moves to catch up to Crain, "Maybe if you hadn't rushed ahead we could have better prepared ourselves." He knows, even if Crain were near enough to hear him it would fall on deaf ears, but he at least feels better for having said it.
Double-move to catch up
Crain Tresselmore |
"Yeah, and if you'd have pit down your attackers instead of slow danced with them, we'd have been here even earlier. Too late to worry about that now," he says, watching the daemon maul the doctor.
While Crain waits and watches, he casts Ironskin, which should last for 7 minutes.
Current AC with Ironskin and Shield is 30.
DireMerc |
Since no one interferes the demon opens it's mouth and a large swarm of flies comes out it's mouth and flies into Davaulus flying into his every orifice as he screams and finally goes limp.
The Deamon drops him on the ground like a piece of garbage and turns towards Crain.
"Indirectly I supposes I owe my freedom to you. As such I will spare your life if only to further antagonize the dear Doctor." it says in the same raspy voice that you now realize is from the swarms of insects insides it's body.
Mai and Crain can post. The others are getting close and will arrive next round.
Crain Tresselmore |
"Now daemon, I don't suppose we have to fight. I don't know that I can stop you, and I don't know you can stop us. If you get out of town, I'm not going to move to stop you. If you don't want to try that, then I'm going to have to come in there and see which of us walks out. How's about it?"
DireMerc |
"Brave words mortal. I am a deacon of Apollyon the Horseman of Pestilence. I have a debt to settle with the high priestess that had me capture and used and once I am done with her I will depart." it says and a quiver and bow appear out of nowhere as it marches towards the door to the south end of the room.
Crain Tresselmore |
"Killing the High Priestess is no skin off my nose. I'm all for you doing that. I'd hurry if I was you though, cause some of my goody two shoes friends will be getting here soon, and they won't be a big fan of this plan. So hurry."
Mai Asta Isabella |
Mai keeps quiet
And thinks
Crain, as much I as I would not want to fight it, it will bring disaster somewhere else and innocent lives would be lost.
Sgt. Drakus |
Drakus jogged into the room. Seeing the demon, he narrowed his eyes.
"Well now, I'll bet the interrogators haven't had an actual demon to play with."
He pointed his bardiche in the creatures general direction.
"City Watch! Dead or alive, you're coming with me. Which'll it be?"
Gregor Ward |
As Gregor catches up, he sees Drakus challenging the large nasty creature calling itself an 'embodiment of death by sickness'. "Well, what are we dealing with here? Drakus is right, we are the watch, and we cannot freely let this thing wander uncontested."
I use my Lore Master ability to get a 20 on the Knowledge check.
So I have a 27 to know what this is.
DireMerc |
He is a Leukodaemon
Here is what you know about them.
Deacons of the Horseman of Pestilence, leukodaemons serve their lord in Abaddon as well as across the planes by spreading plagues and pandemics.
Leukodaemons stand upward of 14 feet tall but weigh just over 200 pounds. The skulls that serve as their heads can be replaced with any skulls, yet these creatures choose horse skulls to show their loyalty to the Horsemen. The creature’s true head is merely a blistered knob between its shoulders.
A leukodaemon can unleash a cloud of corpse-bloated, biting black flies in a cone. These flies deal damage and can linger for a time sickening those hurt.
Any arrow a leukodaemon fires from a bow is tainted with disease. If a creature is damaged by a leukodaemon’s arrow it can be infected by a disease (as per contagion). A leukodaemon can manifest a bow and arrows at will and never runs out of ammunition.
Infectious Aura (Su)
All creatures within 50 feet of a leukodaemon take a –4 penalty on Fortitude saves against disease effects.
DR 10/good or silver; Immune acid, death effects, disease, poison; Resist cold 10, electricity 10, fire 10
Sgt. Drakus |
Drakus shook his head. "Buddy, they all say that. I'll take that little speech as a 'no' then."
He strode forward to attack.
bardiche power attack: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 - 2 = 13 for a possible 1d10 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 4 = 15 slashing, silver and magic damage.
DireMerc |
Well to late now.
The daemon easily avoids the swing from Drakus. In response he shouts "Alright then! no deal! You all die first!" He breathes out a cone of biting stinging flies hitting Drakus and Crain.
damage: 8d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3, 1, 1, 6, 5) = 25 reflex dc 21 for half. Also a fort save dc 21 or be sickened.
Lets skip init for this one. It's your turn now post in any order.
The flies linger and continue to attack for an extra round so if you enter the area with the black dots you take 4d6 damage reflex dc 21 for half.
