Just deleted a double post on the gameplay page. Apparently my phone felt like posting twice.

It looks lile we're heading to the left now and then we'll head inward again once halfway around this circle?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

FYI: For those who might be interested, Wayfinder #17 is out! My newest article is found on page 32.
Check it out (Free download): HERE.

![]() |

Congrats on the publish! Do you contribute often?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Its the third Wayfinder I've been published in...so far.
I've also got a full article in Wayfinder 13 and partials in 16.

Brezik Arkennslag |

My apologies guys. I was out of town last week and had expected to be able to log in. Turned out to be a busier week then I had planned.

Brezik Arkennslag |

Headed out of town for the week... will have limited phone service and no computer access... Will do my best to keep tabs and post occasionally.

Updated my tagline for spells and abilities. I have some spell utility left but quite low on healing. If we proceeded into more encounters and it went badly or we bit off more than we expected, we could end up vulnerable while we rested... Assuming we continue to be badass. Things could always go poorly as well.
Al, how are you on Lay of Hands?

![]() |

To the Glory of Battle!

![]() |

Allister is ready and willing to press on, and still has all his lay on hands abilities should we need healing.
I say one more at least.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

I'm going to try and level some time tonight, but if not, then tomorrow morning hopefully.
NOTE: Since Gad only need 2 hours of rest, he will take/share the majority of the watch to let the others rest as much as possible.

Rogue Talent: Umbral Gear: As a standard action while in an area of dim light or darkness, a rogue with this talent can coalesce wisps of shadow into a quasi-real, functional item. The rogue must choose whether to make a crowbar, 50 feet of silk rope, a glass cutter, a light melee weapon with which she is proficient, a reversible cloak, thieves’ tools, or a wire saw; the GM may allow other similar items. The rogue can use such items for a number of minutes per day equal to 10 plus her rogue level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be used in 1-minute increments.
An item created with this ability remains until the rogue is no longer touching it, or until the rogue runs out of duration for this talent, at which time it dissolves. A rogue can select this talent more than once, gaining an additional 10 minutes of duration each time this talent is selected. If a rogue has selected this talent at least twice, she adds 50 feet of silk rope with a grappling hook, a masterwork light melee weapon with which she is proficient, and masterwork thieves’ tools to the list of things she can create.

In all the fuss of leveling up, we forgot about the group treasure so far!
We found an amulet of natural armor +1, an elixir of hiding, an elixir of swimming, and a potion of bear's endurance.
NOTE, the GM said: An apprise check will get you to the most easily carried and valuable treasure. Brezik rolled...
Brezik Arkennslag (appraise): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
I'm not sure what that means exactly, but I wanted to keep this info handy for later!
NOW: While I there are multiple reasons to be denied this, I was wondering if I could have the Amulet if Natural Armor?
Nobody seems in a hurry to take it (that I remember) and its one of the things Gad would be interested in magically and visually (Golden Dragon scales? HECK yah!)
However, I do not want to take it from anybody who wants and deserves it too. So...can I get an opinion on this? Also, please forgive me if someone has already claimed the item and I missed it?
As far as the potions go...anybody wants them? They are all useful...although the swimming elixir less so at the moment...

![]() |

Allister would be glad to see you wear it.
The gold flows are a dangerous temptation when coupled with Allister's stupidity and his love for gold-plated treasures... What could be more glorious than a gold plated paladin? Lightbringed Naabi would be so proud.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

OK.
Unless there are further objections, then I'll take it.
I have plans to use the gold dragon scales too!!
=)
I'm putting the rest of our treasure in our "group treasure' spoiler on my avatar sheet. Look there if you want to take something and then let me know.

Brezik Arkennslag |

Hey Fez... just wondering if you caught that Allister's attack was a critical hit.

Belathorian Twice Born |

From a narrative point of view I'm worried about this one.
When I wrote Bel's backstory I genuinely didn't know where this story arc went. I had no idea we would be dealing with stuff so close to home as it were.
If this were a novel I was writing, Bel would die destroying this dragon, I'm not even sure I don't want him to. It would be so very fitting!

My bad lately, busy at work and holiday weekend. I'll post in-game today though. I have 4 channels and can smite with them all. Also she'll set up buffs with Magic vestment, shield of faith, and magic circle against evil. Going great sword into this, seems like a good moment to put full faith in Gorum!

![]() |

My first dragon fight!
Might be my last with how well this is going so far... Would be a great way to go out!

GM Fez |

So with those two twenties sitting pretty in the gameplay thread let me ask if you guys want to work with one of my houserules. Since I've picked up the game from elsewhere they weren't in the expectations, but here's what it is:
Houserule: Instant Death: This is something I have developed over time and while it comes up rarely I feel it adds to dramatic tension when it does show. If you roll a 20 on your attack, and follow with a 20 on your critical confirmation you get one more attack roll at the same bonuses. If this attack roll meets or exceeds AC the creature being attacked is instantly killed, regardless of any effect that may prevent such a thing from happening.
I use this both for and against PCs, and in the many years I’ve run using this rule (or had it adapted by my players who wanted a turn GMing) I have seen exactly 1 PC die because of it, where I have seen probably 2 dozen or so NPCs die. 8 of them were in one campaign from a Praying Mantis AC (which was later Awakened and gained Monk levels to become Mantis-Bro)
Thoughts?

![]() |

@GM Fez - I like it. If that's how you run your other games, I say let's go for it. GM houserules rules are great.
I might be biased, as I currently have 1 or 2 opportunities to do so.
@Gad'larr - I love our walls of attack roll text.

Brezik Arkennslag |

I'm fine playing with or without the house rule.
In this case I'm guessing it's a moot point... That's allot of damage we just threw at that dragon.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Yeah...the 'wall of text' attacks...this is how I designed Gad'larr to work really!
I like the dramatic flair of the instant kill 'Crit' and it makes some sense to add some cinematic bonuses on occaison since we are not using Hero points.
=)

So I've been thinking and have this proposal. If GM is ok with it and everyone isn't offended by how it would effect their immersion, I think Viv should really be a Cleric of the Evangelist archetype. We have a pretty solid line of heavy hitters, so being a full caster and buffing the party with Inspire Courage is really what she's currently trying to do but less efficiently anyways. The major issue is that it'd retcon a domain she's known and change the feats she's learned a little (need medium armor proficiency now too).
What does everyone think? It's not super necessary, more so ideal for her character in retrospect. Didn't have a great long term vision for her over a year ago ;)

Brezik Arkennslag |

The Evangelist really does seem like it describes her with all of her speeches and such.
However, I like the idea of her waiting till 7th level to make the changes. Maybe She is recognizing that Gorum had made her a general and leader and thusly reequipped her for the role.
She could take medium armor proficiency as her feat, and forgo the increase to her channel.
Thusly the only abilities she would seem to be losing from an RP standpoint would be... a domain and the ability to spontaneously cast heal spells.
The one worry is that she's putting off that full plate she always wanted till level 9.
That's my 2 cents...

Qina Coldfire |

Giving up channeling dice hurts, and so does losing spontaneously converting healing spells, but we'll manage. It's fitting though, but mechanically it seems sub par. Maybe a prestige class would be a better option. The bottom line is do what works for you.
I'll take the brooch of shielding and a potion of cure moderate. Has the brooch been used at all or is the full 101 points still available?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Regardless of what I think, I always believe you should be happy with your character and how it is made. I've had GM's allow PCs to re-train (with time and money costs) into a new archetype and it made sense to me. I agree with Qina however, there is probably a Prestige Class(s) out there that will give you more/better than retraining.

![]() |

I like the idea and think it would be more fitting for your character. However, I also agree with Brezik that it might be best if it occurred after a level-up. At that point the change could be after some deep introspection following a harrowing adventure - finally coming to terms with who she is as a person.
As for the mechanics of the change, I have no issue with you making sweeping changes so long as your character's thoughts and actions justify it.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Hey everybody! Just to let you know...My first officially paid-for published work as a writer is finally available! Affordable Arcana: Wondrous Items...
If you decide to buy the PDF, I hope you enjoy it!

Brezik Arkennslag |

Just thought it would be a good idea to put this here...
Our Situation
We've been told "There are handholds leading down from the ledge to the pit 30 feet below. DC 10 Climb." I have no idea what kind of terrain a pile of gold would be... Might soften a fall might not. But it's prolly difficult terrain.
Climbing rules
Basic Rule- With a dc 10 climb check you can move 1/4 your speed. That means that since most of the party has a move speed of 20ft. It would take us 3 rounds of successful double moves to climb down.
Accelerated Climbing- You can move at half your movement speed by taking a -5 penalty to the check. This would let most of us get down in 3 move actions.
P.S.- Keep in mind that armor check penalties apply.
P.S.S.- If you fail your climb check by 4 or less you make no progress... you just waste an action.
P.S.S.S.- If you fail you climb check by 5 or more you fall.
P.S.S.S.S.- If you fall you get a DC 30 reflex check to catch yourself as you fall. The DC is the difficulty of climbing the surface plus 20.
Falling
Basic Rule- For every 10 ft. you fall you take 1d6 of damage.
Purposefully falling- If you plan to fall the first 1d6 damage is non-lethal. What's more is you are allowed an athletics check (DC 15) to reduce the amount of damage you take by 1d6.
Falling prone- If you take any Lethal damage you fall prone.
Yielding surfaces (May or may not apply here)- Giving surfaces can convert 1d6 of damage to nonlethal damage. This does stack with purposefully falling.
P.S.- Keep in mind that falling is a move action and getting up from prone would be a move action also.
P.S.S.- Best case scenario... Jump down make the acrobatics check and the ground is yielding. 2d6 nonlethal damage ... land on your feet.
P.S.S.S. Worst case scenario... fail the second climb check fall the whole way and the gold is no yielding, take 3d6 lethal damage... fall prone, have no action to stand back up.

Brezik Arkennslag |

Hey Fez,
I know wer'e waiting for Allister to clarify his action, but I was wondering something.
When the door was slammed in Brezik's face did it slam towards him or away from him?
