Welcome Quina, Vivian, Belathorian Twice Born, Brezik, Allister, and Gad'larr.

Let me first start off by saying welcome to all the players who haven't had the pleasure of gaming with me and welcome back and I'm sorry to those that have. I'm glad you have chosen me as your DM and I hope to not disappoint. This is a classic adventure and one of the first ones released for the Pathfinder rule set.

I'd like to take a little time and get to know my players so below you will find a brief bio on me and if you feel comfortable writing one feel free to do so.

I am currently running several games on these boards and my players almost always enjoy themselves. I've been playing Pathfinder since about 2010 but have played D&D 3.5, Shadowrun, Final Fantasy table top, Vampire the Masquaraide(one session), as well as several home brewed games in the past so all together I have about 15-20 years of gaming experience.

I also enjoy role playing video games and have been a hopeless final fantasy junky for the last 15 years. I've played both MMO versions of Final Fantasy and even met my fantastic wife while playing FFXI. I currently play FFXIV though it isn't as fun as XI was in its hay day(before level cap was raised beyond 75). I have also played dragon age origins extensively.

I have an on again and off again relationship with Magic the Gathering which is currently on again lol. Tt is something my step son and I enjoy doing together, even though he insists on building the most annoying decks on the planet. I've also gotten him, his brother, my wife, and my sister in law all hooked on Pathfinder.

I should warn you guys today is my 2 year wedding anniversary so I won't be on much after 4 PM CST today. I'm also taking my wife on a vacation this weekend so I won't be on at all after 5 PM CST Friday until Monday at 10 AM CST.

Greetings! Thanks for the nod Mathpro and congrats on the 2 year, have a fun weekend!

I started playing table-top RPGs with 3 and then 3.5, on and off since 2001-ish. Lately there has been a several year hiatus due to my wife's pregnancies and lack of substantial free time has brought me to the wonderful world of PbP!

My tabletop experience has mostly been homebrews. Otherwise I've played a good amount of Elder Scrolls, and Diablo throughout the years. I work in robotics and automation, very excited for them to take over the world.

Howdy! I'm so excited to be here. We have quite the party and I have no doubt it'll be a fun party. I've been playing since AD&D and for over 20 years now. I've been on the boards for over a year and it provides quite a fix when you just can't get to the table for a game, or when you just gotta roll some dice at work. My video games of choice are roleplaying games, particularly fantasy, and zombie survival.

I was wondering if you use maps, and if so, what format?

Happy anniversary Mathpro and Mrs Mathpro!

Thank you for selecting Belathorian, I've a good feeling about this.

I'm fairly new to the boards, though I have jumped in with both feet! I like that pbp allows games to fit around my (crazy) life without requiring massive and strict time commitments. I'm currently juggling a seven year old, a two year old, a full time job and my final year of uni. Woo! I've been playing pathfinder for a few years and reading RPGs for a lot longer.

Looking forward to gaming with y'all.

Edit: Vivian, you know you've just cost me several days of my lifetime by even mentioning Diablo... Now where did I leave lord of destruction...

Good to be here. Thanks again for the chance GM!

My history with Roleplaying has been decades long...

Started with the old "Basic" DnD back in the early 80s, and I'm currently 44 years old.

Been playing table-top/video game RPGs in many formats for too many a year. Pathfinder has been a passion of mine for the last several years. Battletech (both tabletop and video games- Wechwarrior Online rocks!) is a major passion of mine as well. I miss Shadowrun, but I can never find a GM to run it. Everyone wants to play it, but no one wants to run it. Don't get me started on the Rifts RPG (Palladium).

I have a IRL gaming group which is trying to finish up the Legacy of Fire AP, which we have been slogging through for 4 years. It does have my favorite character so far however: A Gnoll Desert Druid of Seranrae (Mythic Tier:5 Hierophant). Gnolls get a bad rap, but they are just a product of their environment really.

I currently have a wonderful 2 year old son which has driven my free time to almost nothing, so I've decided to try PbP for the first time this Winter. So far I've had a lot of fun, but have had 2 other game die on me (My GMs quit or disappeared for various reasons).

I currently work as a purchaser for a contract manufacturer that makes prototype circuit boards and LED lighting.

Part-time I've been a fantasy writer/game designer (not accomplished),
but I recently did get published in Wayfinder #13.

OK...my wall of text is finished. I promise. (pardon my spelling errors)

What are you studying? I'm going back in the fall to start working on my Masters in Mathematics.

And Diabolo II ate my teen years lol.

This is going back a ways but has anyone played Heavy Gear? It was a game a lot like Mech Warrior that came out in the mid 90's that had dial up play on line capabilities if you could stand listening to your dial up modem for the 10 minutes it would take to log in.

I spent most of my 90s in the U.S. Air Force.

I did nearly play Heavy Gear's table-top version back in ~2010, but it never came to be. Isn't that the 'world' Metal Gear Solid (or whatever) is based on?

Halfling Inactive

My 90's were mostly dedicated to Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Command and Conquer, Privateer, and finally StarCraft towards the end. I recently discovered gog.com, which sells old video games packaged to run in dosbox on newer operating systems. Nostalgia is such a cruel mistress.

I don't remember Heavy Gear but it apparently evolved into a card game and even a tv show.

I might have some questions for you in the next couple of months..

Diablo 2 was king, even got a soft spot for the original to be honest. Never got into 3, might need a new PC for that (and for my Jenners..)

Might have to log into MWO just to run around somebody's legs in my spider tomorrow now that you guys put that out there.

Hello everyone, and thank you for the invite Mathpro!

I am very new to PbP and Pathfinder. Currently in another campaign with Mathpro that started just over a week ago. Vivian and I have been close friends for many years, and he thankfully introduced me to the world of Pathfinder Society.

That said, I do have an extensive background with D&D 3.5 and 4.0, and many PC RPGs. My first gaming love was Final Fantasy 1 for NES, which I played at my grandmas house so often that her parrot learned to whistle the tunes. Diablo 2 was a nasty addiction (the last thing I need is ANOTHER reboot). WOW was my game of choice for a couple years during my college years and the release of Burning Crusade and WOTLK.

Outside of gaming, I have a wife and 13 month old son who is already a badass barbarian. They take up just about all of my time and energy. I'm a huge fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and like to write in my free time.

I can't wait to get started with a new campaign, and look forward to the adventure that awaits!

As one of the fastest and most mobile guys in the group I fully expect to be the "interception" and "chase" guy as needed. I'm not much on ranged combat yet however (I have some shuriken and a dagger if I need it) so I expect to be charging (Flying kick!) a lot. I have always favored the Dragon Style feats anyway.

But the temple that Toth tends is not in Kassen, it's across the border in Lastwall. Same with Karakt, though he is a man of the road so I guess could pop up (GM discretion) knowing that Belathorian is in Kassen at the moment. Belathorian is furthering his church training in Kassen.

And yes we'll be starting today. My first post is going to be VERY wall of texty so it will have spoilers for each of you to prevent everyone's eyes from crossing. That being said I am going to update the rest of my games(only 9 of them) before I start writing because generating said wall of text is going to consume a lot of time.

To help me set things off on the right foot can I get everyone to post where they would be staying in town?

Just wanted to get this out there... I don't want this character to be too disruptive or get on anyone elses nerves... so I will not play it up too much... but I want you to be aware that this is all taking place in the background. (CONSTANTLY)

Brezik is loyal, brave, kind, and self sacrificing to a fault. He genuinely wants people to like him, he just has no idea how you do that.

sooo... 5 Charisma... eh:

Brezik is a stout young dwarf who is strong of arm and odor. He spends long hours working at a hot forge but isn't too hot on washing up as much as he should.

Brezik is almost always laden down with his tool belt (yes, you can see his but crack... he is constantly pulling his belt up but it seems to have very little effect) and backpack both loaded down with more tools than anyone should ever be carrying.

You can always count on him to have a snack at hand and somehow manage to get more food into his beard then into his mouth. If by some miracle he doesn't have a snack on hand he is most likely absent mindedly plucking the remains of a past meal out of his beard and eating it now. Let's not discuss the fact that he will talk with food in his mouth often.

Being a dwarf raised among humans he's been exposed to two different styles of joking and really doesn't understand either kind... He's always telling jokes of his own that only he gets and stopped caring a long time ago if anyone else does or does not. Add to that the fact that he's loud and boistorous and not particularly aware of how his actions and presence effects others can make him a little tough to be around.

I think it looks great! Thanks for throwing that together!

I'm assuming Vivian would start in her family's home.

Belathorian would be staying in the church of estrasil.

Vivian, if it's OK with you, Belathorian and you could know each other well, I imagine Belathorian would be trying to help your father with what ails him?

Yeah that sounds good to me. They would likely debate theology too. Dominic would have reached out to you himself, while Viv would have been praying to Gorum for strength and keeping polished iron weapons by her father's side.

He may have disclosed the true nature of his aliment you as well, DM can chime in on if he wants that or not.

It takes a lot for Gad'larr to dislike someone. He's too much into wanting people to accept himself as he is without pre-judging him. So he never tries to pre-judge anyone.

I do admire your concept: Keeping a balance of an interesting person but still be semi-annoying without overdoing it will be difficult.

Location: Gad'Larr would be staying with his adoptive family since his return if they let him. Otherwise he would just camp out near town and live off the land as best he can (Survival),
and go into town each day to find out the daily happenings.

That is fantastic! Same kind of bird my grandma used to have and everything, good memories. There was a specific cave in Final Fantasy 1 that was full of giants (which gave a lot of gold/kill) and she would farm the cave in between my visits so I had hoards of gold and high levels. Cool lady.

I know having a paladin in the group can often times be a source of tension and conflict with their strict adherence to Lawful Good alignment. So here's some important information about Allister Sunscale that may be of use or interest to you, his future companions:

1) Allister may be Lawful Good, but those two ideologies can conflict with one other and be subjected to personal influence. Allister favors Good over Law if he is forced to choose one over the other. His affiliation with the Dawnguard also largely influences his beliefs, and as such Allister has a take-no-prisoners approach to evil foes. There are times where this may appear questionable to outsiders, but seems perfectly justifiable in Allister's simple mind.

2) Allister's high Charisma makes him endearing, but his low Intelligence makes him vulnerable to misunderstanding or taking people's word at face value. He is sworn to battle evil, but struggles to identify evildoers unless they readily declare their intentions. If someone intends to break a law, or use unsavory methods to achieve their goals, Allister can be easily misled to avoid disagreement.

I apologize for my late start in the Gameplay thread. I had not noticed it was started until just a little bit ago. My first post is now up.

Will update Viv fora 25pt buy today, also realized I didn't have any traits and took Armor Expert and Ambush Training.

Hey guys just want to open the line of communication about adult themes. I want everyone in this group to be comfortable so if there is any time where I or another player take things to far and make you uncomfortable please speak up and we will do what we can to resolve it. Allister I hope you don't mind the direction I went with my recent post, if you do you can ignore it.

Please keep in mind that this is a family friendly site and minors do surf its pages so all adult material should be kept off. If there are times where we are heading to adult content it will be hinted at and then things will fade to black for the details. I hope everyone understands and if you have anything to say on the topic you can do so. I want this to be an open group.

I'm liking your GM style already!

No dramas with whatever themes from my corner. Just be aware that I often monitor from work which filters some, seemingly random, words so my posting may become slower as I have to use my phone/wait until I get home. Not a problem though.

Gad'larr you were were about to loose your v-card as well but I figured I would back off on the content...apparently my muse has one thing on its mind this morning lol.

I appreciate that you held back!

Gad'larr is so self-controlled I'm afraid that could have turned out very badly! (Actually I had not thought if he's still got his v-card or not...but your probably right on the money there.)

I like to challenge my writing from time to time, but that...ouch.

I'm good either way. Although crow may have to cover his ears and close his eyes.
