Interesting. I've only played on the RfC lodge and the Cosmic Crit lodge, and had that experience on both.
It's not a matter of lodge, it's a matter of software. In a desktop browser it acts as you stated, but in the desktop windows 10 app, it does not.

That doesn't match my experience. I use the windows 10 desktop app, and it still jumps me up to the post when I click a link. Maybe there's a setting I've missed somewhere.

I don't have a clue on the pin link issue. I use Chrome and Windows 10 and the links in the pins work for me.
________________
That said, I have a bit of an update as to my play experience over on Discord. I'm now running the second combat for my players and things are finally clicking.
I love the ability to link things in posts easier than having to type up the bracketed stuff, especially cause once I have a formatted combat block with my maps linked, it is much easier to cut and paste and update for the next post.
I also enjoy being able to easily post a screenshot of the battle map and other things (though I haven't posted any other things yet).
I'm getting more comfortable with doing multiple GM posts instead of trying to cram it all into one post with multiple previews and edits.
I'm actually debating running another game over there when my slate clears up as I have several ideas about how to keep improving the game for my players and me.

About how long has the Quests been taking in PBP?
I have a 4L wizard who needs 1 exp I would love to top off to 5L by the 28th, but not sure it's possible with PBP.
Not that fast, in my experience.

GM TOP |

A great group that clicks can do it in less than a week, but in most cases that doesn't usually happen.
Plus it can be an extra bit of time before the game even starts as recruitment and mustering often take longer then expected.
So to answer your unasked question... maybe you can finish in time?

Not sure if this was discussed before. About to start my second 2E character and going to use the playtest points boon Experienced Adventurer to start at level 2. Noticed though that he would only start with 30gp. That’s quite a bit less than if I started a character from level 1 (15gp) and played through 3 scenarios (14gp each) to get to level 2, ie 57gp. Guess some penalty is expected for bypassing scenarios but just want to see if I missed anything.

GM Blake |

I have not seen any contradiction by the staff in any of the threads about that since they started being posted day 1.

It's based on an expectation that we're using a lot more consumables than we're used to in PFS1.

It's based on an expectation that we're using a lot more consumables than we're used to in PFS1.
But we all get a couple free consumables per adventure in PFS.

AHHHHHH DOPLEGANGER!
(I just woke up and spent about a minute confused cause I haven't posted here in a long time)

Based on discussions that I've read, I believe the expectation is that PCs should be using a lot more consumables than we've ever been used to in the past. We're used to hording and buying big stuff while using 2 PP wands of CLWs as a crutch. If you search, you'll find plenty of discussions on the issue. I don't have a side as I won't be using my few points to start at a higher level.

Is there a thread like this for Pathfinder 1 PBP sessions as well?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah! Check out The Flaxseed Lodge

We have a few lodges on here. We tend to keep them separate to avoid confusion during recruitment. Reposting Flaxseed that Redeux already linked you.

Hey Cottonseed folks:
The web team just fixed the bug that was preventing people from selecting new avatars. Yay, no more blank faces!

I only just recently purchased Pathfinder core rules 2e and only just started getting into Pathfinder. I'm coming from D&D 5e where the campaign I was playing dissolved with the group and I'm familiar with play-by-post as I've played on a few different roleplay forums.
My question is how to best get started here? I've got my PFS ID (I love the idea of pathfinder society being continuous and having a "living" character in that respect), I've looked at a few of the links around the board but still a little unsure of the best way to go about getting started. Feel free to message me with tips, a direction or pointers.

The best way to get started is to jump right in. Most GMs are friendly, and will take extra time to help out new players.
Open recruitment is posted in the Recruitment tab. I'm sure someone will be along to link you to a 732 page PDF document with all the rules. I suggest you just find a friendly GM who is excited to answer questions.

GM Valen |

Thank you Watery Soup! I'll get a character done up and do that then.
@Ozreus - Welcome to Cottonseed Lodge and Pathfinder. I just happen to be starting a quest, so I will reserve you a spot if you are so inclined.
You can sign up here.

Just don't let any of the Society stuff slow you down from the Pathfinder stuff. Society is meant to normalize things across many GMs - the additional rules are to make it possible for you to drop in and play with any GM, or you to drop by and GM for any group of people, without having to deal with subjective rulings. There are bonuses and extras nut they're really small value compared to the fun of Pathfinder.
For your first game, just jump in and have fun. Add all the extras later when you're comfortable.
I'll be honest - I'm still learning a lot of the Society rules. I just learned that PFS1 GMs don't get day job rolls ... so I have to go back and revise 5-6 GM Chronicles I gave myself. It's all good; nobody has ever accused my characters of being overpowered. :) wait no :(

I'm figuring out that's the best way to go about it, thank you for the extra advice though Watery. I look forward to getting to learn the ins and outs of everything but more looking forward to the fun!
It helps how welcoming everyone is so super kudos to you guys for being so awesome.

GMs do get downtime in Starfinder Society and PF2 though. There is also a boon that gives PF1 GMs day job rolls.
I do agree with the advice to jump in and have fun. I usually recommend people start with a Pregenerated character that interests them. They can change the name and gender, no problem. They already have reasonable equipment. It makes for a low starting investment.
Once they have done that a couple of times, I suggest if they haven’t done so already that they read the Roleplaying Guild Guild. There is one for each of the three campaigns and it covers the basics of society play.
If you are building your own character, you need to read the guide and most likely Additional Resources.

The first time I filled out a GM Chronicle, someone said to fill it out exactly as if I were a player, and then walked off. So I did exactlt that. Because nobody hung around to watch me fill out the form, it's just something that never got audited until I made a day job roll in an online game and people asked what I was doing.
It's one of the reasons that it's actually a lot better for everyone if someone takes an extra few minutes to micromanage a new player's or a new GM's first game. All it would have taken is someone like numbat to have watched me fill in my first Chronicle and say, "whoops, GMs dom't get day jobs." Fortunately, I didn't propagate my mistake before I caught it.
Numbat's "let's GM together" or "let's play our first game together" is awesome for exactlt that reason.

Since this is the PFS(2) lodge, I'll note that GMs in PFS(2) do get Downtime, including Earn Income.
Watery Soup is reference 1st Edidtion PFS "Day Job" checks.

Welcome Ozerus! Glad to have you on board.

With this virus going around a very high amount of store games and meatspace con's have cancelled. We are working with these teams to help bring them into the fold of online games, whether it be PbP, PbD or VTT and making sure they are able to run their games during these troubled times.
With this said you will see a far greater number of newer players and GM's alike coming to each of our Lodges. Please provide a helpful hand wherever you can. Help them set up characters. Take a moment to explain stuff as online can be just a little different. Let's show them how great we can be and offer them a home until their stores become active once more.

I am going to second Tyranius's comment. Back when I was a VO here in this lodge, it helped my job enormously to have others welcome players and answer questions!
By the way, thank you Ozreus for coming by, and welcome! We hope you love PBP as much as we do. As you can tell, it's a very friendly and welcoming community!
Hugs,

Good day. I was just reading through the pfs2 guide and it says that those who participated during the playtest will receive boons. How do I redeem this?

Good day. I was just reading through the pfs2 guide and it says that those who participated during the playtest will receive boons. How do I redeem this?
Through the "My organized play" > "boons" tab. These boons included things like starting at level 2 or 3 or getting other minor bonuses. However, the system recently went down and was replaced with the free rebuild boon, but they will return once the organized play team gets everything sorted out with the AcP system.

The AcP system is still in the works so keep stocking up those points until it becomes live!

![]() |

That's a relief. I thought I missed a deadline or something when I just saw the rebuild available. Thank you.

I am looking for a few volunteers to help take the 2E Pregens and convert them into BB Code for the group file. If you would like to volunteer and help out with this project please send me a PM.
