Yes, I know. I just hope no one is leaving all that work for the last day.

I'll have everything completed by the end of this week. I work for an ad agency as a writer and my wife is 9 months pregnant, so they're squeezing every last ounce of copy out of me before I take off for paternity leave.

Howdy all. Been thinking about this for a while and it appears that the arcane caster slot may still need an applicant. I think that this looks like a very interesting campaign and figured I should drop a submission.

Here goes:

Main - Kiritta Narvagoth - Wizard(diviner(foresight)) 5/Harrower 2
Campaign Trait - Rostlander

Cohort - - Ranger(beastmaster) 5 <-- eventually likely to go Mammoth Rider unless I change my mind

Basic Background - unfinished-first draft:

Born in New Stetven in Rostland, Kiritta was a star progeny, always smarter than her friends. At an early age, her parents, who were well off merchants, sent her to study in far away Korsova at the famed academies specializing in conjuring all types of creatures great and small. For the first time among those who were her equals, or at least close, Kiritta nonetheless continued to be close to first in her class.

At the age of seventeen, in the fifth year of her studies, Kiritta met Halcorg, a youth from a small village about two days north of Korvosa. Theirs was a forbidden romance. She, a merchant's daughter and wizard from far off Brevoy, he the son of Shoanti tribesmen. For several years, Kiritta and Halcorg would meet in the woods outside of Korvosa and do what youths in love do.

At the age of twenty-two, nearing the completion of her studies, Kiritta and Halcorg were together when an old Shoanti woman came across them. Not knowing who she was, Kiritta attempted to use the limited magic she knew to scare the old woman away. However, the old woman simply laughed and then cackled:
Begone whore from the city. You will never again despoil one of the Shoanti.
Then the woman spoke words in a strange tongue that even the well schooled Kiritta did not know. The woman then commanded Halcorg to come with her to the tribe. With longing in his eyes, Halcorg followed, but his gaze never left the frozen Kiritta. By the time that she regained her senses, her beloved was gone as was the strange old woman.

Kiritta returned to the academy, but found that she could not concentrate on her studies or call creatures as she had done before. A month later, she failed her final exams with flying colors and was forever banished from returning to the school. Not knowing what to do, she went to where she had always met her beloved. There, in a small copse of woods a few miles from Korvosa, she sat for several days. Staring at nothing, her gaze shifting from the spot in the woods where her beloved had been taken from her to the sky and back.

Finally, on the fourth day without food or water, despondent and lacking any hope or direction, a woman suddenly appeared. She introduced herself as Laetha, a cleric of the Great Dreamer, Desna. The woman told Kiritta that she had not failed, but had simply learned what was not the goal of her life. Laetha told Kiritta about Desna and about traveling to find Kiritta's destiny. After many hours of speaking with Laetha, Kiritta was too exhausted to continue and fell asleep.

When Kiritta awoke in the morning, she found a simple necklace with a purple butterfly upon it and a strange deck of 54 cards. Taking these items and her meager belongings, Kiritta set forth on foot to see more of the world and discover her destiny.

Over the next two years, Kiritta discovered that she could use her magic to see that which could not be seen. She could frequently sense danger before it affected her and could understand creatures whose language she could not speak. She also discovered that the deck of cards was a Harrow Deck, a tool used my many fortune tellers in Varisia. Having the Harrow Deck, Kiritta chose to learn to use this. Finally, under the tutelage of an aged woman with crinkled fingers and eyes so sunken that they were almost unseeable, Kiritta made her first reading. The old woman almost screamed when the cards were laid out. The reading was that one Kiritta loved was in great danger and that she must go east to save him.

Kiritta immediately began her journey. After nearly two months of travel, Kiritta was passing well north of Korvosa when she heard a soft cry from within a patch of briars. Turning and pensively looking into the briars, she saw what looked to be the bloodied leg of a person. Throwing all care to the wind, Kiritta pushed aside the briars and found within her beloved, bleeding and nearly unconscious. She gave him water and bound his wounds as best she could. After much care, Halcorg was able to speak. With tears in his eyes, he attempted to reach out and hug her, but his strength was nearly at an end.

Over the next day, while hiding within a small cave Kiritta was able to find, she slowly nursed him back to some semblance of health. When he finally was able to speak, he told her of the horrors he had seen. After being taken back to his village, he was sent on a quest far to the north. This quest of manhood took nearly two years. Then, several weeks ago, he returned with the head of a white bear, the trophy he and been commanded to bring back. But, when he returned, he found his village under attack. He attempted to help, but they were too many. Finally wounded and bleeding, he fled in the hope of one day returning to avenge the loss of his family and village.

Kiritta nodded understandingly and told Halcorg of her travels and learning of Desna. After speaking with Halcorg, Kiritta showed Halcorg the Harrow Deck and then made a reading, her second. As with the first reading, this was very clear. Their paths would stay together for some time, but would eventually separate, but not permanently. And, that their paths would lead them far to the north and east. To a wild land in need of salvation and care. A land in the need of good souls and those willing to fight for what is right.

Running out of time tonight. Will continue later

If Prophet is too quirky of a story feat for Ni'tir I can try something else. I just thought her possibly clashing witht eh Technic League would be a neat idea. Druids vs Tech Worshipers. :)

So her Cohort Xi'Tir is mostly done, merely have to get her background and appearance set. For the most part it is similar to Ni'Tir's. As they have been basically inseparable have her seperate alias here for your perusal still working the rest of the crunch out. Her items are all set and within the 10K limit.

@Ni'tir I like how your characters are turning out. I found more story feats other then just my Ultimate Campaign book lol.

@Corsario As much as Stronghold and Nation Builder are great story feats, I think I may switch to Dynasty Founder. The increase in leadership would fit him having an elite force and such. Let take the Stolen Land by FORCE! 30 1st level, 3 2nd level, 1 3rd, 1 4th. Which that would make Seraph his Captain by being the 5th level.

I wish I could exchange a feat to take an extra story feat. But that would be a tad over powered lol!

It would make a pretty nice spread in followers. Starting to get a LotR vibe like when the Riders of Rohan moved across the land to sve Minas Tirth~

@Everyone I love the characters, I haven't had enough time to comb through them all!

@Tirion Glad to see another posting a concept here! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! :D

Added "The whole wide World" section to Edeldhur's background - it is almost done.

Crunches are about done, still making some final decision on scrolls to purchase, so that the spells can be added to his spellbook.

All in all, it is almost finished ;)

Great News Everyone~

i will exchange Stronghold Storyfeat for Dynasty Founder and the creation of atruly elite military force. For rp purposes I am more then wiling to exchange a feat for another story feat or, as the campaign evolves, evolve my story feat as we discussed. The below is an idea of what the Lionhearts would look like at Leadership 17 which is what Danath would reach with Dynasty founder. Granted I may have to reduce it some for soem of the leadership variables I may be missing~

I decided to take the flavor option you suggested Corsario and fluffed up the lesser followers as best I could. Still working my way up from the crafters and I will generalize the warriors but each one will be unique so that I can build a living breathing elite squad of soldiers who are about to charge into the Stolen Lands and Pioneer a new nation!

I wish I could make the higher level ones into actual classes but I flavored them to fit as best I could despite some possible disadvantages~

If you have "8 level 1 warriors", in game you will manage 8 level 1 warriors. And I will consider them as such.
If you make details for 1 and leave the others as "generics" that is fine too.
If you detail all, perfect, I'll see how to use them.
But those are not characters. NPC classes only, normal NPC rules. You won't adventure with them, but You can use them. Your own guard squad, your own think tank. Your own and loyal spies, diplomats, acolits, servants, concubines, messengers, heralds, stewards, traders, explorers, porters, squires, trainers, advisers, cooks, buffoons, assassin's (nah, forget that last one, we are all good here ;) ).

LVL 4 Second-Captain Alastair Cadwallader – Male adept of Iomedea.

Alastair is Seraph’s sub-commander, an honorable and pragmatic individual accompanied by a hawk with celestial ties that sits upon his shoulder. He is beloved by those under his command, almost more so then Lord Danath himself for how he tirelessly cares for his men and administers to their wounds after every engagement. He is commonly heard saying, First to Charge, Last to retreat and lives up to that saying every time.

They use their Pilum’s initially when the enemy is attempting to close and then turn to either their longswords or longspear’s depending on where they are in their formation.

Through their sheer tenacity these men are trained hard to advance if the enemy shows signs or attempts to break away, doggedly pursuing them if there are no other enemies to deal with. They are the first to charge and defend their Lord, camp or Longbowmen from harm.

Stat Block for 5 human Experts lvl 1

Human Experts (Varying):

These crafters are invaluable to the Lionhearts, as where the soldiers are the protectors, these men and woman provide the basic services to keep the men’s gear, well being and other troubles from slowing them down. They are the crafters, the wagon drivers, camp hands and other needed laborers needed around camp. However they don’t do this work entirely alone, in down times the soldiers are required to lend a hand whenever and wherever they can so that these individuals do not fall behind. Even Lord Danath is known to pitch in whenever possible.

Lionheart Experts:
Adel (Bowery) Greyfield: An energetic wheat blond woman with a fair complexion and dexterous hands who left Southern Brevoy to pursue a pioneer’s life in the stolen lands, joined the Lionhearts for protection and in the hope that Lord Danath succeeds in his vision.

Merriam (Gravedigger, Blacksmith, Driver) Jegmen: A grim man in his late fifties, joined the Lionhearts to get vengeance for his family that had been recently slained in a bandit raid at their farm while he was at the markets in Restov. He doesn’t disguise his hate for bandits and will do his utmost to end them if left unprotected. Danath has Adel keep watch over him because of his destructive tendencies.

Celestia (Armorer) Whitmoor: A tall woman with equal large... hands, needing every bit of her stout frame in her day-to-day handling of the Lionhearts armor. She is a boisterous, fun-loving and loud woman who openly carouses with the younger men in the troop, more or less teasing those that fall to her charm’s. She has proven invaluable to the group for her expertise in repairing armor in and off the field. She is known to work long hours and adjust the straps on each soldier’s armor to make sure they are ‘fitted’ correctly. She joined the troop on a whim, or so she claims, and appears to be enjoying herself immensely.

Cul’Chan (Tian Carpenter) Xiangshou: Short and wiry, this small framed quiet tian descent man moves around the camp as though he is constantly on a mission. Referred to as Mr. Fix-it warmly by his fellow Lionhearts, he has proven more then capable of performing carpentry work with whatever is available. He joined the Lionhearts to provide for his struggling family in Brevoy and has proven more then loyal due to his fair treatment in and among the Lionhearts.

Ip (Weapon Smith): Tall, gaunt and ashen skinned this man in his late forties is a quiet ad thorough man who speaks extremely little. Having only exchanged a casual nod in the morning’s or a single suggestion as needed. He quietly tends to the many weapons of the troupe. Honing them to an edge that surprises even the most seasoned among the soldiers. His history and motivations are unclear and Lord Danath is the only one who has ever had an actual conversation with him.

I'll try to reach you over the weekend to review, it that that is ok with you.

Danath is ready for final revision please let me know and be warned. If you add everything together he has 36 pages of text... So much work. lmao.

Working On Seraph now will post shortly. :)

However I made some changes to his followers alignment and name as it was taken already. Going to turn them CG so they are in line with Danath and Seraph.

If you need to I can label everything with a gp price in the profile, just let me know. :)

Liberty's Edge

I'll PM you, and yes, please, put the GP costs, at least for the magic and over 500 Gp items.

Backstory, crunch and gear are all updated in my profile :D

Hraggar to come later today.

Corsario,

I'm going to politely bow out. This looks like a lot of fun, but I'm just not feeling my Character creation muse.

Best of luck and good gaming everyone.

Sorry to see you go.

Thanks.

Roger that I thought I had all the high cost items covered already but I will double check and re post them into the sheet, they are in their own tab underneath his backstory tab. Again apologies for the mass of text, tried to clean it up. =/

Some of it was flavor as well, The War Elk isn't an Elk it's still a Horse but sometimes you just want it to be a little cooler. Hopefully that isn't an issue~ :(

No issue at all.

Seraph is complete, minor changes to her as well. :) please let me know what you think~ :D

Edeldhur and his cohort and sister - Daliedhur - backgrounds are finished up until the point when they headed for Brevoy.

My question to the other applicants is: how are you all inserting the "common" phase for our characters' backgrounds? Are you leaving room for it? Have you added any particular details in common with other applicants? Just curious.

I know that Ni'Tir has added a hook point as she and Daliedhur crossed paths while the elves were on patrol - what about the others? How are you going about this one?

For the sake of trying to create connection points, I'm leaving here some details of Edeldhur's background story - perhaps someone comes up with good ideas :D

- Both he and his sister are elves originating from the elven kingdom of Kyonin;
- Edeldhur is a wizard, passionate about conjuration, Daliedhur is a ranger, much more martially inclined than her brother;
- In spite of initially being most of the time apart - he was studying, and she was out patrolling - they eventually fell into place as true siblings, and each shared and learned on each other's views - mainly through the long periods patrolling the wild borders of the Tanglebriar;
- Their curiosity, and will to expand beyond the treeline, made them leave their ancestral home - Edeldhur to study the Arcane arts at the Arcanarium in Absolom, Daliedhur as her brother's protector, and to se the world with her own eyes;
- They spent a long period in Absolom, while Edeldhur perfected his knowledge and studies, while his sister ventured further and further away from the city, exploring and adventuring - recounting every single piece of information she discovered about the surrounding regions to him;
- Whenever he had a moments' break from his studies, they adventured together;
- The seed for the idea of making something different with their lives grew strong, until it coallesced into a decision - Edeldhur felt capable of continuing his studies alone, and when his sister recounted the details of what was brewing in Brevoy, they decided to depart;
- They went initially back to Kyonin, to get the bkessing from their parents for their endeavour - founding a home away from home, taking the elven sight and furthering way beyond their borders;
- They did get their mother's blessing, but not their fathers' - he was unable to understand why it was that they did not apply all their knowledge in assisting their race;
- They were unable to transmit to him the idea in their heads, that the elves could not remain isolated in their woods - they would not evolve - with TIME (something the elves have in oodles), they could build something unique, and with this ideal they departed towards Brevoy.

Ok, so it is simplified, but it is only to throw some ideas out there :D

Hraggar is complete.

My apologies. Yesterday was my youngest's b-day and I was much busier than I thought I was going to be.

Can't image what 3 is going to be like haha.

Hrraggar at last!

We need to talk about his Archetype. some abilities I didn't like. On the good sense, they can be little bit better.

No problem, the runes are a bit underwhelming.

Still here and interested, work has been hellish, will have backgrounds and items done tonight. Hopefully submitted in about 4 hours. Sorry for the wait. :( Aching to get going with this if I get picked up lol!

Kingmaker is rad~

I will see how to incorporate your characters Edeldur so we can try and build a team here. :)

I will look into some of the other characters that are still here and incorporate them as well~

I am working on my background. Required some alterations. I do not know how much I will have other's backgrounds tied into mine as I have not read many others. Not because I do not like them, but more because there are now almost 450 posts in this thread and the backgrounds are frequently 5+ pages. I have just run out of time.

With any luck, I will have my main character's background done by tonight. For anyone wondering it is:

Kiritta - Human(varisian) - Wizard(diviner(foresight))/Harrower - CG(NG)
Halcorg - Human(shoanti) - Ranger - CG(NG)

Liberty's Edge

Don't worry about the teams, we will sort that out later.

No problem, you got time.

Any thoughts by the way?

Liberty's Edge

Yes, make the duration of the runes longer, on one side.
I'll send a PM about it.
