Sorry 'bout the radio silence for the last couple days, Wi-Max is a fickle mistress at times. @dunebugg + Stellan, would it be alright for me to finish the event I started, or would you rather try and keep things in order?
As far as map-keeping, I'm willing to do it as well, but lack any serious photo-editing tools. An alternative I suggest is this, using Obsidian Portal: number each hex, from left to right, top to bottom. I believe it is ~77 hexes per page of the map. Then make a page on OP for each hex that is explored. I'll try and get a ad-hoc of this set-up done before crashing out, to give all an idea of what it would look like.

Alright, here's a rough idea, with plenty of room for improvement. I did the link for the area we are in, which leads to a list of hexes within it. As the adventure continues, I'll add new links for the expanded areas, to keep one page from getting cluttered. I've updated Hex 12, as that is where we are beginning, with the basic type of information I'd imagine would be immediately useful. What do you guys think?
Edit: Thought you might like to have a link. *facepalms*

Brilliant Triaxus, you're the man.
@DM, I don't really mind either way, but would like the pace to be faster than being slowed.
Also what's your take on casting spells on horse, both if it's moving and not moving.
I'm fairly certain that I would have to do a concentration check if it's moving, but what if it's just stood still, and I'm practically just sitting there?
Would like to know this before the next battle? Have to see if I should dismount before each battle or just sitting there.

You can certainly finish the conversation from the previous day, just make sure you label it clearly :)
RE: Time speed.. I should have clarified that it will likely only affect the "invisible" years. IE, the downtime between modules. There will always be some time off between books dedicated solely to kingdom building. It would mean That 3 years go by instead of 1 to get the same amount of "kingdom building" time in. No extra gameplay time will be lost/used.
If you would prefer to go "quickly" still, please say so :)

Great work, Triaxus, useful without breaking copyright or revealing anything that shouldn't be.
Well that's an idea. I see the point of greater verisimilitude with the slower time frame. But then pacing could suffer in what is after all a sequence of adventures. 1/3 speed would get very slow and age our characters quickly. Also changes outside the our lands would happen. The Brevoy situation may remain stable a few more years but not likely beyond that. It will be awhile before we get there though. We'll be lucky if we finish our exploration zone before the end of this year real time. the suggested pace would make the NPC's we build more important but many of the enemies on those lists are powerful, at a normal adventuring pace of advancement we could equal them soon enough but with a slow pace, not so much. But I'm good with it if that's the way you want to go. Written before dunebugg clarified but mostly still applies.
Short answer: I'd like 1/2 speed more than 1/3 but good with any.
Looks as though Triaxus volunteered for map duty, good by me!
I'd be happy to continue that conversation Traixus and I were having, I think nothing would be said that would keep us from the road today.

I'd personally prefer to go with the monthly rolls, as it allows us to get more done, but I admit there is a bit of draw to making this more of a generational game. Once a season sounds good, but I worry that we may not be able to get enough growth if we go slower than seasonal. But if the vote in the group is for the slower pace, then I'm fine with it.

If this were a real, tabletop campaign, that slower time would be fine...
However, this is PBP...Its already gonna take us a year real time to do much of anything. Do we really wanna make it go even slower?
That's my only concern...otherwise, I'll just side with the majority and stuff.

I don't know how Kingmaker works, as I haven't ever read the books or played it before. But my sentiments are basically identical with Amoonrann's.
Even if the "extra time" happens outside "gameplay" it still means more writing for all us (unless I'm completely misunderstanding) before we get to hit more stuff with our swords. And honestly, while I enjoy roleplaying I think the PBP format forces plenty of roleplaying for me just in normal gameplay, I'm more of a combat junkie. My vote remains with whatever is fastest.
Elros II |
The majority of us is voting "we're fine either way", And the only solid answer we have is from Gren and that's "whatever is fastest".
Since the majority, though actually minority (just the 1) vote for fastest, we most of us supporting this "majority" or should I say the only vote.
Let's do the fastest =p.
Triaxus |
Quick question for clarification before I update the map: are we using the top of the map for north, or the left side corner as on the core map?
And to give a more solid vote on the kingdom timing question, put me in for the fastest method as well.
Edit: Never mind, figured it out. Will have map updated asap.

If I hit, it's possible/likely I'll drop one bandit in one hit. However, I'm not sure Stellan has a way to quickly take the other one out of the fight. Maybe that sleep spell? Roga, you can serve at the cork on our death bottle. Me and Stellan hit the sentries, then kite back whoever follows us. Tri, Moonie, and Elros can be in flanking positions. We'll stop and turn around, Roga will step out and block their retreat and then Tri, Moonie and Elros will open up with spell and bow. Something like this
-----------------
OOOOOOOOOtOOOOOOOOO
OOOOEOOOOtOOOOMOOOO
OOOOOOOOOtOOOOOOOOO
OOOOTOOOOtOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOXXOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOO<----ROOOOO
OOOOOOOOOtOOOOOOOOO
t=Trail
T-Triaxus
E=Elros
M=Moonie
R=Roga
X=Bear Trap
Top is north, we (Stellan and I) run them up from the south (bottom) into the traps and ambush.
Make sense?

Looks like I have a pretty good stealth check and nobody noticed my severe ABSENCE this week. Things have been insane, being Pride week in my city. Hosted and attended far too many events, and the wine bottles are quickly piling up on my kitchen counter.
Tomorrow resumes normal posting for the remainder of the summer (minus sched'd holidays)

Sadly, looks like I'm going to have to cancel the game :( This will be another tragic "we barely got to play!" stories. My brother has been in and out of the hospital and things have become quite stressful. He's okay for now but it's taken a lot of energy from the family.
If one of you should like to take over DMing (or you find a new DM) just toss me a PM and I can transfer ownership of the thread to you.
Thanks for the good stories.
