RE: Heal checks.
No, I don't really plan on giving out information via heal checks. Instead, I will add this:
Assess Wounds: DC 15 Heal Check.
You can get the general state of a persons wounds. They can be Healthy (above half HP), Bloodied (Below half hp), Disabled (0hp), Stable or Dying (Negative HP) or dead.

damn me for being unconscious, but discussion here should be fine too, without in-game RP.
Do we wanna hire the bandit? As a guide and stuff, since he "knows" this area.
A guide should cost 2sp per day, if we could diplomacy it down it'll be even better.
Just a suggestion throwing it out there.
*EDIT*
we could say that he'll have to repent for his sin by helping us, if he say he did once kill a person, or more.
If he didn't just ask if he's willing to join us to guide us around the area.
I think the first option, we could pay him less, or even not pay him at all.
Elros II |
seem pretty lawful evil to charge a bandit with death, rather than imprisonment =p.
I know that bandit are hung (by rope) or slain (by sword) and whatnot accord to the swordlord. But it also didn't say we can't be lenient towards a bandit that sincerely hoping to repent for its sin.
Grendolynn |
When you break the social contract that badly its easier to just kill you than put you in a cage and pay people to feed and watch you forever with no real expectation that you will ever behave any differently. Banditry is not like stealing a twinky from a local shop, it's violent crime often, almost ALWAYS accompanied by murder. Besides, killing him is no big deal, if he's really a good person Pharasma will send him to a good afterlife, if not f*ck 'im. Life is cheap on Golarion.
Amoonrann Stormheart |
Aye...they interrogated the bandit in the Guest House, I believe...thus I suggested that I tend to your wounds in the main house...
Best not showing weakness in front of the prisoner we're trying to intimidate, I figured. But its inconsequential, really. I'll post something shortly.
Grendolynn |
Those are my thoughts. I mean, in a world where we don't know what happens to us when we die (ie. the real world) it makes sense to feel bad about killing people. In a world where we know the gods and afterlife are real, and everyone gets what they deserve it totally changes things. Notice, Grendolynn is okay with letting him go, despite it being against the law. We have several options..
A)Kill him
B)Waste a ridiculous amount of time and resources taking him to the 'authorities' so they can kill him (oh wait, we're empowered as such)
C)Punish him in a lesser way
D)Simply let him free to resume his life of crime in 4 months when he's sick of the babies crying, his wife's nagging and he still can't find a decent job.
E)Enslave him
A,B, and C could all be construed as LG in my book. D is like true neutral or something. E is the LE option.
Edit: Ah yes, lets not forget F) Eat him and do naughty things to his bum...the CE route.
Elros II |
hehe @option F XD.
A, I don't think is necessary, but it seems to be the best option.
B, No just no, we are the law. (imagine saying this in judge dredd voice)
C, I don't like the barbaric way of cutting limbs, would rather just do A.
D, Possible, how about a job by being our guide, like tell us the layout of the bandit camp, the way there etc?
E, similar to D only D sounds less evil.
Amoonrann Stormheart |
Tiefling. Attack happened before she could get into disguise. Haven't had the opportunity/need to get back into hiding since then (as everyone would have seen the non-disguised Tiefling running around after the bandits/challenging Gren, etc).

And besides do we really want a campaign going: hello my name is interruption DETECT EVIL ba da dam. :P
I have only used it once so fare on Stellan do to my characters concern about having a white witch among us.
Well my question is: would you treat somebody's sentence differently if you knew they were NOT evil?
dunebugg |
No, actions and alignments are two different things. What you have done is what matters. Redemption is hard earned and in some cases impossible.
So the ends never justify the means in your characters eyes? Interesting. I think there will be a lot of fun RP in this campaign.. :)
Make sure you've read up a lot on Erastil - there is a lot in there about leading by example, and the importance of family. In my DM's prerogative, you are a follower of Erastil before you are a Paladin, and Erastil's teaching should take precedence over your Paladin code. But of course, it's still your character and I won't tell you how to play.
Roga |
Do you have any sources besides the inner sea guide?
The end might justify the means, as in overthrowing an evil king, against the law yes but a law that protects such a system is not a correct law.
I agree with you that Erastil comes before the generic paladin code. And can we avoid the Erastil discussion going around the forums :D
Elros II |
The protection against such a system is a "correct" law, just used on the wrong king. Which may or may not be a bummer. Cause if there's no law stating overthrowing a king = treason, evil people could just overthrow a good king, and be king themselves, and the good people would morally think overthrowing a king would be treason and won't do it. =[ Damn evil people always gets the upper hand, why god why!
*EDIT* Ignore my previous comment, if the law you mention isn't "overthrowing = treason" law.

Hey, sorry about the wait on posting; had a thirteen and twelve hour work shift back to back. Hello overtime! Thursday and Friday are both looking to be ugly for me as far as work's concerned, but I'll try to get a post in before the shift starts, at least.
No worries - I am moving in TWO DAYS! Plus I work today. And then have my regular saturday night game. And am trying to confirm readers for an event in 2 weeks... Lots on my plate! So this weekend may be a bit slow. But yàll need to plan what to do anyways, which doesnt require much from me.
Triaxus |
So, I completely forgot about the bonus feat I'd gotten from Dunebugg, which has limited healing ability. For character purposes (read: covering my backside) I'll says Triaxus has been hesitant to use the ability for various reasons, but we should have Roga up and running again pretty quick. Unfortunately, Elros lacks in purity of heart, so he's gonna half to sleep it off. :P
dunebugg |
Whew!! Yesterday was exhausting. Got up at 8am to go get the moving truck and one of our helpers. Started shortly after 10.. Moving two people into one place is a LOT more work than we realized, didn't finish until after 4! We even had 7 helpers. We are nicely settled in our new basement suite and super happy. It will be a few days before I finally get my office area back together, let alone get my computer setup, but my partner has a laptop thank goodness.
Game should resume normal posting again :)
@Triaxus: I completely forgot about the healing part of it, too. Your character does not seem to embrace his heritage from what I've pieced together so far. Maybe that's why youve hesitated to use it?
Grendolynn |
I try to post every time I see something I can comment on/effect. I think the in-character mistrust is slowing the game down, arguing about plans and such. Not that it shouldn't exist, it totally makes sense. But I'm fine with fast forwarding to the morning.
If we stay at Oleg's then we're never gonna get anywhere. I understand the logic that they aren't safe or whatever, but if we go kill the bandits then check back won't that keep them safe?
Amoonrann Stormheart |
I too post when my character can actually say/do something of relevance. Otherwise, just throws off the 'pace' of the characters actually saying and doing things of relevance. I mean, I could post something like 'Moony mopes about feeling all depressed and stuff' but that's hardly interesting reading.

Amoonrann Stormheart wrote:I mean, I could post something like 'Moony mopes about feeling all depressed and stuff' but that's hardly interesting reading.I don't know, this is the Twilight generation. You might get on the New York Times best-seller's list!
Well now I HAVE to add vampires...!
Triaxus |
@Dunebugg Just realized I never addressed your earlier comment. For a bit of clarity on Triaxus' reactions to some things, he has mixed feelings on some of the perks of celestial heritage, in particular when it comes how other people react to it. As for his ability, I'll just go with that he never read the player's handbook, and as such is somewhat in the dark as to how exactly it works. Which has gone badly before, as mentioned to Roga.

Everybody can leave at full HP, no rolls required.
Would like your input (especially shorter lived races!)
I would like to experiment with the timeframe that hexes are acquired when we get to the kingdom building phase. The rules essentially make you do checks 1/month, but I will make it 1/season (4x a year as opposed to 12). This means your kingdom will build about 1/3 as slowly. I also reserve the right to slow it down even further! (1, 2, 3x a year). It will have a big impact on the shorter lived races (humans, hobgobs) and less on.. Elros.
What this means for you: you have time to "settle in" to your character; have a family, start a business, what would your character do in your "downtime" years?
You will also have the opportunity to rotate characters. Make a close friend? Met up with one of your Allies? Maybe your wife or son (or grandkid!) wants some adventure time. Send them out while you retire to be a diplomat, or sit on your tushie and enjoy the (hopefully) quiet years.
I'd like your thoughts on this!
