Iovanna is pretty tanky, even if her AC is a little lower.
Let's have Cathran be present in the Ravengro town meeting that is currently happening.
It's a little forced, but we can clean it up. Sound good?

Cathran of Mendev |

Aye, sounds as good as a "hey, there's two new guys here to help you" is going to get.
Could be that he wrote to the Cathran's superiors about some thing concerning the Whispering Way shortly before his death, and they did not know when they sent Cathran with a message in response to him which was basically a diplomatic way of saying "Yeah, we got nothing, either, but this lady may be able to help you."

Cathran of Mendev |

Yeah, I took the average gold, and still have plenty to spend. Str 16 is a bit weak for a tank. Cathran would gladly pay for picking up more useful things like grappling hooks, crowbars and such, so long as she doesn't have to carry her bedroll and blanket everywhere she can actually hold them as well.

I'm not real happy with this avatar but the Gnome and Halfling options for avatars is pathetic. I didn't pick up a lot of basic gear since I assumed that there would be time to buy extra stuff later and, with my mediocre strength, didn't want to lug a lot of unnecessary stuff around.
Since he had never been outside of Qadira before, travelling the Inner Sea has been Oorin's life since fleeing. He would have made his way to Ustalav eventually. Oorin tends to be optimistic and fearless until confronted with something firsthand (as what happened with the Bleaching which he now dreads and is determined to never succumb to).
Oorin has an annoyin habit of changing his name if he gets bored with the one he's using. If someone tries to call him by his full name, Oorincunathysin, he'll always insist that they're pronouncing it wrong. This is not his birth name, which he no longer remembers (this does not bother him in the least), just the name he is currently using.
As I have no prior knowledge of the Carrion Crown AP, outside the basics, I'm open to any other ideas or tweaks you want to add in.

Your arguments for posting out of order make sense. Nobody should have to be clicking refresh constantly to be sure when their turn comes up.
Posting out of order becomes problematic when specifying position, however, as available movement/action can change every turn. If somebody isn't able to post immediately (I give 24 hours before I consider them to be delaying), I'd hate for them to feel like they shouldn't take their desired action because an action posted earlier but occurring later would create a conflict. I'd rather have things go slower and have everybody feel as if their turn is being honored.
Still, I'm always a proponent of being flexible towards player needs. If your time is limited and you know you're not going to be able to post for a while, you can post your intended action out of order. Keep in mind, however, that if your action becomes impossible, it will fall to you to amend it on your actual initiative turn. Along the same lines, players with higher initiative should never feel constrained by something that is supposed to happen after their turn. If a square is available when your turn comes up and you want to go there, you should feel free doing so even if it invalidates the action of somebody else.
I'd like you guys to use this sparingly, and do please limit your preemptive actions to the current round. In the past two combats, we've had moments where we had a list of actions for two rounds from one player before we had a single action from another player. I didn't make a big deal out of it, but I'd like the tactical/initiative parts of the game to be more organized than that. I played the first few combats pretty fast and loose, so I consider myself the cause of their scattered nature, but I'd like to add a little more precision from here on out (hence the introduction of grid maps).
Sometimes things might get a little bogged down, but I think that's partially just the nature of play-by-post. This game has taken on a more casual pace, but I think we can keep things moving at a good clip both in and out of combat.
Thoughts?

Cathran of Mendev |

Well, part of it is being an intelligent player, as well. I thought initially that Cathran would try to save a burning townsperson. She might have made it to the one closest to the stage, but saw that darn near everyone on the stage was closer to him/her than she was and did not feel as though they would let a person burn to death. Second thought was "I shouldn't be standing in the aisle when panicking folk are trying to get out of here."
Other stuff can be worked out here in the OOC. I assume that Iovanna and Cathran get the opportunity to pull a flank train, they will probably try to work that out, or if there is an opportunity for Cathran to step forward and tank, she will do that.

DM Hamied |

Oorin will join the encounter shortly; I'll place him at the town meeting as well, though if you thought the half-elves were getting strange stares...
For mechanical purposes, I will consider Oorin to be delaying (from the first round). That means, Sir Jolt, pick a square on the grid and toss your action into the order whenever you get to posting and we'll stick you there in the initiative.
And I agree...the gnome/halfling avatar options are really limited. Lem is a stud though, so you're in good shape!

Hrolf Steinolf |

If it was me unable to post for a time, I would much rather have the DM take an action he feels is in character for Hrolf than have him have the character stand idly for twelve seconds in a fire. It feels forced and doesn't help the games versimilitude at all. Am I alone in feeling this?
FWIW DM, if i'm too slow to post and miss the 24hr mark, please take Hrolf's action for me. I trust your judgement.

Hrolf Steinolf |

Is there any chance I could swap Hrolf's strength and charisma around? The way i've been RPing him i've realised that hes a warrior first and a leader second, as well as thinking about his role within the group. Was hoping it would be possible as its still early days and the group's had some shuffles.

Awh everyone's doing all these inspiring things after combat, and I'm now in toronto and have another 16 hours worth of in transit time left to look forward to.
Cathran slides up to Sheriff Benjan and puts the moves on him :P
Joking, of course. *laughs*
Or am I just hysterical at this point? Who knows!

However, upon reflection, I can think of no reason why Oorin should be stronger than an average gnome. His life has been largely academic, he's a shrimp and there's little to justify why he should be as strong as an average human, IMO. I'd like to drop his Strength back down to 8 and then boost up wither his Wisdom or Charisma (probably Charisma) if that's okay.

DM Hamied |

I'm actually okay with people that want to roleplay such a character, but only if they want to do it authentically. I had a druid once with 7s in Intelligence and Charisma, but he was extremely bestial (and his stats were intended to reflect his concept). He often found himself banished from towns, but he could sure track...

Iovanna |

Just temporarily. The screen on my laptop went dead a few days ago. I had been using my husband's laptop until I can get a new one, but our 4 year old decided to remove every single key from the keyboard on his laptop. It's fixed now though.

DM Hamied |

Oh, kids.
Sorry to hear about your computer issues. That's never fun to deal with. Glad to have you still.

Guys, I think it's time to declare this game "dead." I will confess that my heart just isn't in it anymore. It's been hard to get excited about it, because looking at the pacing and the narrative, it's just not been successful. I think that while I enjoyed reading and preparing for Carrion Crown, I wasn't quite ready to wrap my head around the Adventure Path and how best to take the lead on telling the story. Paizo has really put something great together, and I encourage you all to play and/or run it if you can. For this particular campaign, though, it seems the natural time to walk away.
I know I've kind of disappeared, but I would like to be straightforward about the end of this game. I apologize that it's come to this, but I think it's been in the works for quite a while now. I do hope you'll agree with me that we had some fun, and that there were some memorable moments. I still plan to be present on these boards, so I hope I'll have the chance to play with you again.
Best,
DM Hamied
