another year teaching middle school science. at least I have gifted kids this year. AZ keeps sucking me in. i'd rather be in NM. figure one more year will have me back in the black and with more experience to get a job in ABQ- dunno why it's been so difficult.
part of the reason i even considered returning to AZ was that I wouldn't have to be here over the summer but they've managed to chisel half of my summer away anyway :P
it's 100+ degrees and humid enough with the monsoons to make me VERY cranky.
No worries Skipper... riptides o' real life have tugged at as all, and yea've always been great.

Do a good job--one of my wife's pet peeves, teaching HS chemistry and physics, is how much elementary school/middle school science gets shafted. She was considering becoming an elementary school principal just to get the teachers to handle science better.
Elementary is a lost cause. With all the focus on Math and Reading, pretty much little else is covered.
Even in MS where we actually have required Science, I get pressured to cover more math. Fortunately, 8th grade Science does require a bit of Math, but I'm not going to cover Math in place of Science. NCLB is ridiculous. I recently read a report where Chinese educators were shocked that we were speeding back toward the models of rote memorization and testing that they were leaving behind...
Good news on the housing front- an ex-girlfriend is out of town all next month so I'm going to sublease from her which will give me more time to find a place for the rest of the year.
I don't know any teacher who has anything good to say about NCLB. Re the focus on Math, though, my wife would love it if the kids came in with some idea of how to apply it to problems in Chemistry. That's more a problem with how Algebra is taught at the HS level, though.
I recently talked to some college kids studying Chem at a coffee house and asked what I might cover in MS Science to prepare them for HS Science. They said moles. :)
All I can say is teaching is hard any way you look at it and I salute those with the fortitude to stick it out.

ack, my computer just went down. that may slow my posts for a bit...
so after the fan in my computer appeared to die in a very loud way in the library yesterday, it now seems to be OK. Not sure if I should get it checked out or not...
I'd say it's something to be wary of... that which has risen unnaturally from the dead may be prone to a second death.
I'd still use it... just keep a bat handy if things go south like Dibbs suggests...
Have you vacuumed it out recently? I've had fans get clogged with dust.

Dingus- I don't believe alter self changes possession nor does it allow you to take a specific form. From what I remember, you just become that creature type.
Disguise self would change the appearance of your gear and give you a bonus to try and resemble someone in particular.
That's what I took from the description, but then it was higher level than Disguise self so I thought it might. I guess that's the difference between illusion and transmutation spells. Oh well...good idea anyway. I might swap that spell out since I haven't used it yet if that meets your approval. Good for a wizard, but maybe not a sorcerer with limited spell choices. I guess I'd need both spells to pull off what I'd planned.
the plus side is you can gain abilities. for example, if you took sahaugin form you get swim and darkvision.
