So...for those of you who can't get enough of Skull & Shackles, I have your fix! I do have a few caveats, which you will see just momentarily. I'm quite picky, having read and played the game a few times. I don't give seats easily. I expect a decently paced game, somewhere between 3 - 5 posts per day, more if you can manage. Know that I'll let you know my work schedule in advance, and I will be a bit limited to post on those days until after my shift is over.
Now...to my rules and such.
- No evil alignments. Yes, yes, I know some folks want to rule the seas with an iron fist, causing fear and death in their wake. That's not how we do things here.
- Core races (and variants) automatically allowable. All others on case-by-case basis. This is one I'm very picky on. If you want an odd race, then run it by me and impress me with it. The only two races that will automatically get a NO are strix & kuru. Sorry, but cannibals and those fliers that HATE humanity are definitely not allowable. Nothing personal, but if you submit one, its automatically denied.
-Paizo classes are allowed, but summoners will have to work extra hard to impress. Also allowable are the archetypes from Razor Coast & the Razor Coast class yohunga. I very much like the paizo products, and I have looked over the Razor Coast products in play, and those are very much balanced, in my mind. If you want to play the Razor Coast items or want more info, just send me a message.
-3 traits, one of which must be a campaign trait. So...we are gonna have 3 traits each. I am allowing from the paizo products, and you can reflavor if you need to. I'm also allowing traits from the 101 Pirate & Privateer Traits third party supplement, but on a totally case by case basis.
Starting level 2 & 1000 gold Yes, you heard it right. We're starting high enough where a cat sneezing on you won't kill you. And you'll have some gear to boot.
20 point buy Simple enough.
-I will be selecting 4 players I have 2 players from outside the forum that want a shot at this, and I told them they'd get spots. They haven't decided yet, I don't think, but I'll have them check in, so you know.
So those are the rules and once I get some interest brought up, I'll start a roleplay thread. I want to see more than just crunch from my characters. And here we go!

Ajani Ihejirika |

Hello Cap'n Fox! I would like to submit Ajani Ihejirika, a Vanaran druid. The character was in another S&S game that died at the end of the first book. Please let me know if you have any questions. The character needs to be modified for your specs bit the background would remain as it's as long as it meets your approval. Thank you!

Mezegis |

I'll be submitting Bramzit for this one as well, and average about 15+ posts per day, so no worries about that one.
Is it alright if I abstain from making an alias until he gets accepted?
Also, what is your opinion on the oriental classes? I'm debating making him a Sorcerer/Ninja heading toward arcane trickster

Cap'n Fox Shadows |

@ Ajani: I like the background and the character seems quite fun. Not too serious, which is always good. Hop on over to the Tavern RP in the discussion thread. So far, I'd say you'll manage to get things to spec.
@ Meegis: I have no issue with the oriental classes. The sea isn't picky on who it takes, if they can survive. That's fine about the alias.

Check out the "Race guide" within the profile of this avatar...
Ability Score Racial Traits: Island Elves are both perceptive and agile, but tend to adapt rather than match force with force. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, and –2 Strength.
Type: Island Elves are humanoid of the elf subtype.
Size: Island Elves are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Base Speed: Island Elves have a base speed of 30 feet on land. They also have a swim speed of 30 feet, can move in water without making Swim checks, and always treat Swim as a class skill.
Languages: Island Elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Island Elves with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Aquan, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Halfling, and Goblin. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
Deep-sight: The eyes of some Island Elves are especially adapted to the light-less depths of the oceans, but not to air-filled environments. An Elf with this racial trait has dark-vision 120 feet when underwater, but otherwise has no dark-vision at all. This racial trait replaces dark-vision.
Amphibious: Some Island Elves are born with a permanent bond to water. Elves with this racial trait gain the aquatic subtype and amphibious special quality.
Island elves have adapted to life in tune with the sea or along the reedy depths of wild rivers and lakes. They gain a +4 racial bonus on Swim checks, can always take 10 while swimming, and may choose Aquan as a bonus language. They are proficient with long-spear, trident, and net.
It was created by another DM who's simply 're-badged' the Undine stats into a variant Elf.
Cap'n Fox Shadows seems happy with it, so you perhaps can't go too far wrong. Also, t'would be grand havin' a fellow native ta' be talkin' to. (^_~)
Very much cheers to all.

Bellam Anklebane |

Posting as Bellam Anklebane, my CG Inquisitor of Besmara from another S&S game that died right out of the gate. I could easily update the level and gear if accepted.
Especially interesting to him were the tales of the bravery of the Free Pirates in defending the land from a new Chelish invasion. He revered the heroes of those stories, as well as their goddess the Pirate Queen, and longed to defend his homeland in the same way. He saw the pirates as benevolent protectors, and wished to join them not for his own personal gain, but to shield his home from foreign invasions, and to drain the resources of the Sargavan government through tribute to keep them from exerting their influence over the native peoples.
He trained in both sword and shadow, hoping to one day bring the enemies of freedom to their knees, either through combat or espionage. Once he became an adult, he set out to Port Peril to seek his fate, and ended up in a drinking contest in the Formidably Maid...

I present Bramzit Brightonspinner, a reflavored Ninja and Air Sorcerer heading towards Arcane Trickster.
Bramzit, or Bram as he is known to his friends was born into the traveling troupe "Harrigan's Harlequins", where he learned the finer points of showmanship and chicanery. But as many children dream of running off to join the circus, circus children must dream on a greater scale. Bramzit dreamed of being a pirate.
In his youth, while learning the ways of the jugglers and acrobats, Bramzit excelled at the high wire. He loved the height, the wind, the freedom of the birds. He loved it so much that even in his free time he was up on the wire, trapeze, or just sitting in the nest. It was there that his life took a bit of an odd twist. At the age of 16 he was practicing a flip on the wire when a storm rolled in out of no where. Before he could scamper down the ladder, a bolt of lightning struck him, the current coursing through his veins. But instead of killing him, it awoke his ancient blood. The lightning coursed around him, dancing to his whims, and supercharging his senses.
Of course, he kept his new skills a secret from the circus folk, lest he be tossed in the freak show with all the others of “unusual” talents, but it signified to him that he was meant for something greater. Being a Halfling you are taught certain skills from birth, and how to sneak around was definitely one of the ones he remembered. He stowed away on a merchant vessel heading to Eledar in Sargava. A dangerous voyage, given the proximity to the Shackles, but there was money to be made. Of course, Bramzit was found eventually and about to be tossed overboard when he revealed some of his tricks. Moderately impressed, he was put to 3 months hard labor scrubbing the decks and performing the duties the crew hated. Well, as expected, pirates attacked the merchant ship and Bramzit was tossed overboard in the attack. Clinging to some flotsam, he made land and eventually found his way to Port Peril.

Eloise Holycross |

I'd like to propose a tiefling rogue character.
Her two brothers are both sailors. They look completely human. Hari sails with his dad as a ship's carpenter and Jimbo drifts from ship to ship. Eloise is on excellent terms with everyone except Jimbo. Jimbo has this unfortunate habit of being very successful with women. He has at least two ex-girlfriends in every port at this point as well as any number of progeny.
Eloise started out as cabin girl for her father but has knocked around a bit at his suggestion to gain experience. Word has gotten around that she is a hard worker and almost fearless at heights so she has some experience as a topgallantsperson. In fights, she supports her shipmates without hesitation or demurral.
Eloise has worked hard to overcome her appearance and has even turned one of her most obvious traits into an advantage. Through hard work and practice she has learned to use her tail for any number of purposes. She also has an unceasing curiosity about people, places and things. She has been exploring her world her entire life. Locked or closed things nag at her. She generally overcomes her urge to open them and see what's inside, but she has succumbed enough that she has become skilled at it.
While on board, Eloise is an excellent crew. She does not flirt or date shipmates. She works hard at every task given and is generally cheerful. On land, if she is in port with her mother, she works for her mother and is a useful and efficient shop girl.
In other ports, Eloise is a terrible flirt. She not only flirts, but she is not very good at it. She both likes men and has no desire at present to have a permanent relationship with them. She also does not want children for now, later perhaps. And she's been mortified by Jimbo's antics enough that she will never have children without a husband on hand. She is a very sloppy drunk.
The stats and a link to a cheesecake picture of how Eloise would like to be seen are in the character profile. Her gear will be a rapier, dagger, bow, light armour and such.

Cap'n Fox Shadows |

@CaptMadJaq: I'm looking for enough to get a feel of who the person is and their motivations. The RP is there so you don't have to go AS in depth on the fluff.
@Reinald: I'm all for the other races. I just want to know players aren't just going "ooh! This can REALLY kill everyone! I wanna play it" Catfolk would fit real well. I've always wondered what happened if a Catfolk fell overboard. You're welcome to submit it.
@ Alina: Add another trait, since every character gets 3.
I'm surprised nobody has wanted any of the Razor Coast archetypes.

Cap'n Fox Shadows |

@Krul: I'll send you a message with some info on it.
@Terz: Thundercats fan too? *two thumbs up*
For anyone interested, I'll put up the Razor Coast archetypes, and people can ask for additional info.
Barbarian: Surf Scavenger, Shark Surf Scavenger
Bard: Voice of the Three, Legend Chaser
Cleric: Volcano Child, Caller of Storms
Fighter; Buccaneer, Harpoonist
Ranger: Deep Sea Tracker, Headhunter
Rogue: Blockade Runner
Wizard: Scrimshaw Fetishist

@ Cap'n Fox... third trait: River Sniper. (from Pirates of the Inner Sea)
Rigging Sniper: Unlike most marines, you’re used to fighting most of your boarding actions at bow range, and understand the value of a well-placed arrow. When on the deck of a waterborne vessel, you gain a +1 trait bonus on attacks with ranged weapons.
Is this ok for you?

Ajani Ihejirika |

Cap'n Fox, how do you want us to handle HP after level 1? Roll for it? Average? Some other method?
On an unrelated note....gah, it's hard to re-skin Ajani's ability scores. Do I go negative on strength to get a higher constitution or do I keep a lower constitution modifier to keep my strength at 10? Decisions, decisions...
