Background:
Eloise Holycross was born to two parents of mixed origin. Her mother, Lilith Holycross, is mostly human but has elven in her background. She works at a ship's chandlery. Her father is the sailing master of the good ship "Gnome's Mercantile Discount Blessing" and is mostly human with a little dwarf. Obviously both parents had outsider in there as well as Eloise is obviously a tiefling.

Her two brothers are both sailors. They look completely human. Hari sails with his dad as a ship's carpenter and Jimbo drifts from ship to ship. Eloise is on excellent terms with everyone except Jimbo. Jimbo has this unfortunate habit of being very successful with women. He has at least two ex-girlfriends in every port at this point as well as any number of progeny.

Eloise started out as cabin girl for her father but has knocked around a bit at his suggestion to gain experience. Word has gotten around that she is a hard worker and almost fearless at heights so she has some experience as a topgallantsperson. In fights, she supports her shipmates without hesitation or demurral.

Eloise has worked hard to overcome her appearance and has even turned one of her most obvious traits into an advantage. Through hard work and practice she has learned to use her tail for any number of purposes. She also has an unceasing curiosity about people, places and things. She has been exploring her world her entire life. Locked or closed things nag at her. She generally overcomes her urge to open them and see what's inside, but she has succumbed enough that she has become skilled at it.

While on board, Eloise is an excellent crew. She does not flirt or date shipmates. She works hard at every task given and is generally cheerful. On land, if she is in port (Eleder) with her mother, she works for her mother and is a useful and efficient shop girl.

In other ports, Eloise is a terrible flirt. She not only flirts, but she is not very good at it. She both likes men and has no desire at present to have a permanent relationship with them. She also does not want children for now, later perhaps. And she's been mortified by Jimbo's antics enough that she will never have children without a husband on hand. She is a very sloppy drunk.

Eloise is Chaotic, but Follows the Rules:
Eloise is chaotic good. The way that plays out is she has very little internal structure other than 'I love my family and I mean well'. She therefore needs external structure. When she is on a ship voluntarily, she follows the ship's rules, both explicit and understood. She is a diligent sailor, keeps good watch, never steals from shipmates, never skylarks or shirks on duty and never neglects a fire. Thanks to her upbringing and especially her father she can explain why these things are important

The same applies when she is working for her mother back in Eleder. Left to her own devices, she tends to make a mess of things. If she survives, that will likely change over time as she sorts out what is and what is not important in life.

Were she ever to find herself on a ship involuntarily, who is to say what might happen?

What Eloise Wears Where:
On ship she wears her ordinary clothes with a dagger and thieves tools.
In port she wears her ordinary clothes, a dagger, belt pouch (with money) and thieves tools. Unless she is at home, she keeps her seabag near her.
Before combat, she dons her armour, equips her weapons as needed or ordered.
All other gear is stowed away (on ship) or in her seabag.

The thieves tools she keeps hidden on her person as best she can at all times.
