Moving Lydia and Kiri.

The rest of the group moves into the larger room, nervously looking around the dimly lit room. No one has mentioned producing any sort of light source now that Davina's Daylight spell has expired, so anyone without either darkvision or low-light vision will have a miss chance.

Suddenly another ugly little grimple pops out of a hole in the far wall, and opens its mouth. Suddenly a disgusting torrent of putrid puke spews forth, more than you'd think its tiny body would be capable of holding! The vomit sprays 30 feet forward in a relatively narrow line, spraying over Jessibel, with a few stinking drops hitting Lucius and Domitius.

Jessibel, you need to make a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 4 rounds.

GM, Jessibel cast Light on several of us before we went down the ladder to fight the rats. Leora cast light on her shield too. Have 10 minutes passed since we went down the leader? If so, Leora would have recast her spell once it expired.

Finally seeing the grimple appear, Leora weaves between the pillars to attack it with her rapier.

Jessibel manages to raise her buckler in time to keep from getting hit in the face by the putrid stream, but the right side of her prized armor is covered with nasty chunks and dripping spew. The bard does not look pleased with this development.

I know Jessibel cast light on her rapier and offered the spell to the others, though I'm not sure who if anyone took her up on the offer.

Kiri's air blast slams into the grimple and knocks it to the floor.

"Maent yn lladd Kaani! Rydych anghyfreithlon!" another grimple shouts, and three more emerge from the holes in the walls.

Sylvan:

Two of them gather eldritch power, and the floor below Lydia, Domitius, Leora, Lucius, and Jessibel becomes as slick as the rungs of the ladder were before. I think I'm doing this right, but I'm not sure if there might be a penalty involved. Guess we'll find out.

Jessibel's displeasure at being puked on becomes full-on anger as the grimples pull their latest slimy stunt. The girl overcomes her rage, however, and tries to think and act rationally. Seeing the grimple that pulled a Mr. Creosote on her has scrammed, Jessi decides to try to extricate herself and the fallen Leora from the grimple grease.

She squats and grabs ahold of Leora (move action to pick up an item?), tries to step out of the greased area herself (into the square below her starting square, start of a second move action), and then (hopefully) drags Leora out of the slimed area.

(Moved Jessi straight down, down diagonally right, then straight down again; double movement cost for each square. Moved Leora two squares (down diagonally right, then straight down.)

The flute has indeed ceased, now that the shouts and sounds of combat have broken out.

Moving another character in combat is covered by the Drag combat maneuver, which, since your characters are willing, we can treat as if you rolled a natural 20, and you would be able to move Leora a total of 10 feet, which is how far you moved her on the map. Doing this adjacent to an opponent would of course provoke an attack of opportunity.

It should also be noted that the gremlin who puked on Jessibel is not hiding, it's dead or dying due to Kiri's attack.

The bard renews the light spell on her rapier, offering to cast the cantrip for anyone else who needs it. Noticing that the previous prestidigitations she'd used to color her hair and armor have expired, the raven-haired girl decides to go 'full-Thrune,' slipping on the CCG armband and Thrune amulet.

That's enough actions to keep her busy for a while. I'll let the others do the searching and whatnot.

Nothing of interest can be found in the western part of the room, beyond the slaughterhouse equipment. There is actually no explanation for what the C-shaped thing is on the left-hand side. I figure there was probably something special about it but it got cut for space during editing.

"All clear," Jessibel reports as she walks back out of the weird western passage and rejoins the others, wondering how they'll deal with the rusty gate that blocks their way.

Lucius simply reloads his musket as the tiny creatures flee, but he keeps a close eye on the holes to make sure they didn't come back. Looking over at the fragile gate Lucius looks at his companions. "Anyone have some skill with a lockpick or are we just going to break the gate down?"

"Unless that key Davina has works on this door, I think we have to break it down. It looks pretty rusty, should be a piece of cake."

Assuming no one steps forward to unlock the lock or the key doesn't work:

Getting a slight running start, Leora puts her armored shoulder into the rusty gate, trying to batter it down.

The key fits in but doesn't turn. This could be because it's not the right key, or it might be rusty and sticking.

Lydia lifts her arms and examines them for a moment; upon confirming their noodliness, she shouts at Leora, "You can do it! I believe in you!"

Fun facts: this is one of three characters I've ever played with a strength score below 14. The other two were a swashbuckler and a rogue.

Finding nothing of interest at the west end of the room Kiri moved back towards the gate where they were trying to get the key to work. She watched as they found that it fit but couldn't seem to get it to turn. "Have you tried turning it the other way yet?"

With Lydia's words of encouragement and Kiri's practical suggestion, Leora tries turning the key the other direction first. Then she tries twisting it harder in either direction in case the rust is making it stick, though she doesn't want to break the key itself!

Dom lowers a shoulder. "Let me know when you want me to try my key..."

The key turns part-way in the lock as Leora continues to work it from side to side.

I'm assuming she will continue to try to turn it, in which case:

After perhaps half a minute of working the key in the dusty, rusty old lock, it turns all the way and the gate can be slowly creaked open.

The stairs are grimy and slippery, but allow descent to an old door which turns out not to be locked.

Please move your icons or indicate where you need to be moved, and I will provide a post regarding the room on the other side of the door tonight.

Perception DC 15 (listening through the door):
You hear a splashing, as if something is moving about in a body of water.

Jessibel creeps down the stairs, trying to be quiet and impress her feathered mentor. When she nears the doors she turns to the others with a slightly perplexed look on her face and mouths the word: "Water?"

Davina follows Jessibel down the stairs. She sees Jessibel mouth the word water and shrugs.

We are near the docks and have been moving steadily lower than street level for a while. Water is possible.

She quietly listens.

Leora listens as well, hearing the sounds of splashing. She stops and waits in front of the door for everyone to gather, ready to open it once everyone has arrived. She draws her rapier since she's unsure of what will be on the other side.

Dom heads down to the door. This time, his hearing isn't quite up to the task; if there's something on the other side, damn if he can make out what it is.

Moved myself.

Moving ahead here. Assuming Lucius and Lydia will have joined the group before the door is opened, I have placed their icons at the back.

Leora opens the doors, and she and Domitius step forward cautiously. Shortly after the door, an open archway in the north wall reveals a huge, circular chamber, mostly occupied by a fifty-foot-diameter pool of rancid, brown slurry. Chunks of plaster have fallen away, leaving ragged patches behind in the walls and ceiling and mounds of rubble on the floor. What wall space remains is decorated in crude drawings and symbols of sinister form. Greasy-looking chains run between four stout pillars rising from the muck and anchor to various points on the wall.

Wallowing in the fetid water are three hideous creatures resembling roiling waves of fatty flesh, with half-formed limbs and a dripping, tumorous face.

DC 11 Knowledge (planes):
These are Lemures, the weakest of devilkind. They are mindless conglomerations of damned souls with only the merest whisper of consciousness and memory remaining from their former lives. Additional information will follow if anyone beats the DC by 5 or more.

Despite Leora's not-entirely-silent armor, they don't seem to have noticed the entry.

Domitius and Leora get a surprise round.
