With those words said, he shoves the magus towards the door and turns his back on him. Hefting his ax up, he takes rear guard as they move towards the door.


RoW maps

Grim takes action quickly, pushing forward and opening the doorway. inside, there are stairs leading downward into the tower ending in another closed door. there do not appear to be any more creatures in this stairwell.

Porablum falls into a defensive stance and waits.

the guards on the wall react to the noise and sudden cloud of fog and rush towards the party. none of them are close enough to attack, but all of them draw weapons. three head towards the party, the furthest one runs towards the other door on the opposite end of the walkway.

With a guard suddenly appearing before her, Porablum cautiously moves away and towards where the open door where Grim was.

Hearing the weapons drawn and footsteps from the wall and below, Easlis does not wait for an invitation to a fight and follows Porablum's example squeezing past the others down the stairs.

Ready to spring through the door and shut it, Grimgisli motions for the other two to push through, knowing Hjorleaf can't see him any more than he can see Hjorleaf, but making the motion regardless.


RoW maps

all of the group stumble through the doorway, Hjorleaf coming in last as the others push past him.

Porablum, withdraw lets you move double your speed, so you should be fine getting throught he door.

Grim slams the door shut, and the party can hear the sounds of the soldiers moving on the other side of the door, searchign the fog for the intruders.

the inside of the stairwell is also covered in fog, making it hard to see each other.

Grim takes the spot behind the line he's asking the big man to hold, with his bow out and ready to provide assistance if they have to hold the position for long while the ones below try to get them deeper into the complex, hopefully with some speed . . ..

Porablum finds a plank that can be set into notches on the door to hold it fast from the inside. she and Hjorleaf heft it into place, blocking off the entrance behind them.

Brominate listens at the door, and hears the ice troll moving into the main tower, yelling at someone inside. he can hear the clank of armor and the sound of weapons being pulled from scabbards.

Brominate recklessly opens the door to the next room, drawing his daggers and hopes this next room is larger.

The door behind them barred, Porablum moves past Grimgisli to the stairs, but stops as Brom throws open the next door, hoping he doesn't draw more enemies to them.

The half-elf said unsure of their chances in taking on the troll. He takes out the sword as soon as he hears the door opening. Easlis moves through the fog and tries to get a glimpse over Brom's shoulders.

Grim and Easlis try to work out what the better option might be: fight on the walls, or push into the tower itself. Brominate, of course, doesn't wait for the discussion to conclude and acts on instinct.

He swings the door open and springs through, daggers at the ready. he immediately finds himself flanked by two more guards.

the room that Brominate has opened up appears to be a large lobby or entryway. there is a large bubbling fountain in the center with wisps of steam rising from it.

a third guard moves up and attempts to aid a guard that is dressed in finer armor and appears to be a sergeant of some kind

two more guards fire crossbows at Brominate

those of you in the stairwell, if you dind't move yourself during that last round when Brominate opened the door, you can take an action when the door opened before the guards attacked. I wasn't clear on who had moved and who was just taking free actions to speak. just post your previous round action, then a break then your new round. if your actions kill or incapacitate one of the soldiers I'll give Brom some health back

My intent was to move once I received some indictation from below that we are moving on. I understand the push, though.

Seeing that the guards do not care who they are and that they do not wish to talk or take prisoners...leads the large man to a desperate decision.

well this went to s%*% real quick. Can not get any worsethat it is now.

Backside appears to be securred...for now at least...push forward and kill anyone that stands against us. Those that ask for quarter will be granted such if they swear fealty to their true ruler...if not they can hold there innards and beg for forgiveness.

The large human's shape shifts and warps until the image of the black rider is beside his companions.

Hjorleaf, I think 20' of movement puts you where Easlis is standing. 25' gets you through the door and where Brominate is standing. 30' gets you your own square, but there will be either 4 enemies around you (2 flanking) or 2 enemies flanking you and you will be away from the main body of enemies. 35' or more opens up the tactical possibilities quite a bit.

We really need the people standing in the doorway to make space for everyone else.

I moved Hjorleaf one move, as requested.

Gritting his teeth, the archer moves through the enemies, expecting a great deal of pain. He works to avoid as much pain as he can, but he doesn't expect a great deal of success.

Total Defense (Standard) for AC 22 during the first round, Move 20' - move provokes from 3 of the 4 (not Orange) as he ends between Orange and Purple.
Putting my money where my mouth is, because I am confident if we let them bottle us in, we're dead.

He doesn't stop there for long, though, moving into the corner where he can avoid being surrounded, though he can still be trapped.

Movement should provoke from both Orange and Purple, who start with flank, so . . .. AC 18, too, so that should really hurt. Assuming he is still up:

Once "safely" in the corner, The Ranger starts letting arrows fly at the opposition, turning his bow against the target to his left first.

Porablum sees Hjorleaf move past her to the door, and seeing as she can’t get past him and Brominate, she casts a spell, reaches out, and touches Hjorleaf. A glow surrounds him, insulating him in a protective cocoon.

Casting shield of faith on Hjorleaf for a +2 deflection bonus to his AC.

as Brominate opens the door, Grim sees that the situation could get real bad real fast and shoves his way right past Brominate and into the room. the guards are too surprised at this sudden rush to effectively hit Grim even though they were already there and aware of the group, since they hadn't acted on the map yet I'm going to call them flat footed for that first round.

however, as he tries to shoulder past the guards again, the two guards swing at him
longsword: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
longsword: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6

Grim fires an arrow, hitting one of the soldiers squarely.

once Grim is out of the way, Easlis casts a spell, trying to make the sergeant drop his sword
reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Porablum sees an opportunity to hit the group with a spell but doesn't want to hit her friends, so she just casts a spell on Hjorleaf.

Hjorleaf waits for a second until Brominate clears the doorway.

I know you already posted, Hjorleaf, but I wasn't clear on where you were going. did you use one round of movement to get to where you are in the map (in the doorway)? you should still have your actions from the current round, as I believe your moving to the door was what happened the round that Brom threw the door open.

(Sorry all). Unsure if anyone can still make AoO's, but to be safe... Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 moving at half-speed.

Brominate does some fancy footwork and tumbling to get out of the center of attention and north of the foes, near Grim, and strikes at the (orange) guard.

Dagger attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 (Nope!)

As Hjorleaf pishes his way into the fight, the guards freak out. The black rider is here! take him down! don't let him escape!

one of the guards move up to the doorway, trying to support the sergeant in fighting Hjorleaf.

the sergeant is hit by a big blow from Hjorleaf but he swings back

Hearing swords clashing, his friends running pass him but no enemy rushing in as a response to his attacks Easlis grew bolder and squinting through the fog attempts to find the door to cast another spell. Seeing the Hjorleaf transformed as the black rider, the half-elf tries to push the Ulfen down such that he wouldn't soak all the effect of the spell.

"Black rider, duck!"

As soon as he sees that Hjorleaf is out of the direct line of fire, Easlis unleashes a wave of flames which burst through the door burning all the creatures just outside of it, including the troll.

Hjorleaf, I moved you a 5-foot step to the South East - I'm in the space directly to the south.

Hjorleaf makes his bluff and strikes, then tells Porablum to use her magic. As soon as the warrior is clear, Easlis steps forward and sends a gout of flame out of the door. As soon as the flames pass, Porablum steps out and shouts, "Surprise rainbows!" as she casts a spell and attempts to send forth a wave of colors to knock enemies unconscious.

Casting color spray, DC 15 Will save. My Awesome Display revelation causes the enemies to count as 3 hit dice fewer than they are for the purposes of effects.

Hearing the gnome yell about rainbows and surprises Easlis frees us the space for the other spellcaster fearing that the whole room would blow up in rainbows and sparks.

RoW maps

Brominate sees the enemies pressing in, but does what he can to free up his ally. he stabs orange in the back, killing the guard.

freed up from the one guard that got too close, Grimgisli fires on the next guard (green), injuring him with one arrow and missing with the second.

Hjorleaf slashes at a guard and misses, then gets out of the way.

Easlis releases a cone of fire
reflex sergeant: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

both of the regular guards take the brunt of the attack, sreaming as fire engulfs them. they both fall to the ground, writhing in pain and then going still. the sergeant mercilessly uses one of his own men for cover taking less damage. the troll avoids the worst of the flames, but the fire doesn't go out as quickly on her, doing extra damage.

Porablum tries to follow it up with her own display of magic, but the sergeant makes a move at her that breaks her focus in her efforts to protect herself. Porablum loses the color spray with no effect

the sergeant swings down at Porablum, but his eyes are on Hjorleaf, the black rider. he steps through the door, chasing down his target

one of the guards from the courtyard makes it into the fray, guarding his sergeant's flank

the farthest north guard steps up and swings at Brominate but misses

The troll yells curses in giant at Easlis for his fire magic, but can't reach him. she swings angrily at those near her, thrashing around at Porablum, Brom and Grim.

Grim, thanks for pointing out the guard numbers. one of the guards left the walkway to go through the second stairwell and I forgot all about him behind the F.O.W. added him back to the map.

also, for your stats, please everyone take a moment to make sure your stats in the Google slides are all correct. this includes your saves, AC, and HP. I am generally leaving it up to you to keep those updated, though I spot check them if something looks off to me. every time you level up please make sure you update all of your stats!

brominate has less luck, and is unable to find a good spot to stick a dagger.
