Razwin Gillywhomper is a Gnome Vigilante: a tinkering merchant by day, an insane thieving Bleachling by night. Crunch to come.
It keeps me alive.
No, really.
I’ve begun to Bleach. Every day I stave off complacency. I sharpen my curiosity like a mercenary sharpens his blade. Without the thrill of the heist, I am certain I would be no more than a faded shell, mind half-consumed by the First World.
Lord Trungeon’s manor. Under lock and key, through guards, golems, and traps, he had a safe that was meant to stay away from prying eyes. It took me seven hours to break in, evade the obstacles in my way, and break the damn thing open. In it was a locket that he had been given by his true love on her deathbed.
He kept his gold in a sack under his bed.
That is the most fascinating part of being a thief. You get to see the secrets that people bury away from society.
Betrayed. I was on a job with Jarrett Stone. The plan was for me to be a distraction for the guards while he snuck in and grabbed a fairly expensive magical orb. He was to meet up with me after the acquisition at a safe house. Instead he directed the guard to where I was hiding, and was given a fine reward for his aid in my capture. According to the guards, I hid the orb away somewhere, and am simply refusing to give up its location. I’m fairly certain Jarrett knows exactly where it is, and has likely made a pretty penny fencing it.
Ha! Honestly? I’ve been told it’s impossible, and likely it is. But that only makes me want it evermore.
I want to steal the Starstone.
More realistic? Perhaps to take something from a priest of Norgorber. I’d love to see the secrets their ilk keeps.
1. Jarrett Stone: A shifty Halfling who I used to run with. I thought him to be trustworthy until our last job together. Now the only thing I trust about him is that I will make him beg for mercy before I end his life. He knows me only by my heist name, Fade, and does not know my true name.
2. Esmund Nightshade: A travelling half-elf detective that follows Desna, though he often returns to Absalom. He’s a half-wit. No, saying he has half a wit is giving him too much credit. He’s an insufferable fool, and it’s clear why he follows a goddess of dreams: he’s an absolute bore to be around. I’ve met him as Razwin several times, and each time it is a struggle to stay awake as he prattles on. And yet somehow he’s one of the best detectives I’ve ever seen. He’s not clever, he’s just lucky; always in the right place at the right time to foil months of planning a heist. He does not know that I am Fade, although he may suspect.
3. Lady Penumbra: On one of my more unlucky runs, I hid in entirely the wrong alleyway, and had my shadow stolen by a http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/fey/shadow-collector/]fey creature who simply called herself Lady Penumbra. A different kind of thief, I suppose. I bargained it back in exchange for a merchant’s hat, a horse’s shoe, and three favors to be named later. She has yet to call on me.

Tommen walked into the cell with a quiet calm; he had done this countless times before, and questioning had become mind-numbingly routine. He eyed the prisoner: a child, from his height. That was nothing terribly unusual. Children were always stealing things. The child simply stared at its hands, seemingly unaware that anyone had entered his cell.
Tommen let out a small, polite cough to catch the child’s attention. When the child continued to stare at his hands, facing away from the guardsman, Tommen coughed louder. Still no response. Tommen let out a loud, hacking cough that no one but the deaf or the dead could pretend not to hear. This garnered no response from the child, but his fellow guardsman let out a bark of laughter. Tommen glared daggers at Sammeth, who quickly quieted.
“Good laugh, that one,” came a raspy voice. “Much merriment, full of life.” The child turned around.
Where Tommen had expected to see a youthful face was instead a thin, pale one. Where he had expected to see the undecorated chin of one too young to shave was instead a tangle of rune-like drawings that stood in contrast to the bleached skin. And where he had expected the naive eyes of one who held a relative newness to the world was instead eyes that seemed to focus on nothing and take in everything. Eyes that twinkled with a thousand thousand secrets.
“Aw hell, Sam,” complained Tommen. “You didn’t tell me it was a Bleachling.”
Sammeth simply smirked. “Ask him a question.”
Tommen sighed. Asking a question of a Bleachling was a waste of time, and Sammeth knew it. “Fine,” Tommen agreed, exasperation evident in his tone. “Hoy, Bleachy, what’s your name?”
“Indeed, what is my name?” the chalky gnome responded thoughtfully. His tone wasn’t playful to Tommen’s ears. It seemed the gnome legitimately did not know his own name.
“Come now, not in the mood for games. Just give me your name.”
“Hardly fair,” the gnome said wistfully. “Then you’d have two names and I’d have none. Unless you never had a name to begin with. What is your name?”
Tommen paused. Some bit of knowledge prodded the back of his brain: couldn’t fey do something with names? Gain power over those who gave them freely? Bleachlings were, after all, more fey then not. He decided to dodge the question. “I’m the one asking questions here,” Tommen responded carefully.
“Are you? I believe I just asked one. Two, now, if the second counts, but,” the Bleachling leaned forward conspiratorially and lowered his voice to a whisper, “I'm fairly certain I was being rhetorical.”
----------------------------------------
Two long hours later, Tommen and Sammeth exited the cell with little more answers than they had before they entered.
“Bugger that. As if we’re supposed to get answers from that…that thing?” Tommen said, throwing his hands up in disgust.
“I think he’s rather amusing,” chuckled Sammeth.
“For the first two seconds, maybe,” Tommen replied. “Did you see his eyes, Sam? Nothing sane has eyes like those.”
The two men walked on, talking back and forth to each other. The gnome watched them go from behind bars, and waited. One breath of silence. Two. Once he was sure they were gone, he casually walked over to a stone underneath his cot and rolled it aside, disappearing into it. Soon, the low chit chit chit sound of a stone tapping on stone emanated from the hole.
Two more days hard work, thought Razwin. Keep them busy for two more, and you’ll be free. Fruitful, today was. Tommen had appeared frightened when asked his name; good to know he was superstitious. Razwin could probably use that to scare him into only checking on his cell during inspecting rounds, and that was much more predictable. The stone and dirt before him gave way, slowly but surely, as he tunneled his escape.

Iftits aren't really any weirder than tieflings, all six native outsiders pretty much have the same origin. as for the racial traits, I disagree
as to the fluff, hes a mildly unstable philanderer and devotee to Calistria. not everyone has to be complicated. he was probably kicked out of his hometown but that's not important to the character so i didn't put it in.
for the not a thief thing, you sir lose a cookie. he's a medieval carnie with ranks in sleight of hand. even if he wasn't he'll be taking 3 levels in shadow dancer for the invisible untraceable scout, HIPS, has access to the fascinate performance, and is very charming in any circumstance. what about this character isn't a thief?
and while I'm bragging I should point out that parts of the backstory are vague because everyone else named the bar their people hang out at. then someone else made a character with ties to Calistria. I work with everyone
This will be the last time I address it in the thread (I don't want to bog the apps down.)
I suppose I should've clarified that, to me, just about every race outside of the core are weird races. I don't have a problem with the races themselves, its the experiences I've had with the people playing them. Most people already have a hard time playing an Elf and not just a Human with pointy ears. Or a Halfling who is just a Human with short legs. Now, throw in something like an Ifrit. A race that looks like humans with brass skin, horns and "Oh my gods! Is that guy on fire?!"
I'm not saying "Don't play an Ifrit," you do you. I simply said that I'm not a huge fan.
Don't take my cookies from me. I will throw down over some cookies, good sir.
There aren't points in your backstory that are vague, the whole thing is vague.
he was probably kicked out of his hometown but that's not important to the character so i didn't put it in.That absolutely is important! Were the townspeople scared of him? Did they revere him and that's what made him want the life of a performer?
what about this character isn't a thief?
Literally, all of him. So, he was in a circus...did they routinely pilfer purses? Was the troupe running scams in the cities they went to? The only "sneaky snek thing he does is sneak into bedchambers.
The deets are the backbone of your character. It's the details that inform what the character will do and how he will react. And when the campaign is homebrew, it's common for the GM to ask for these kind of details because it takes less stress off of the GM to create every single NPC the PCs come across. Those bars that are named? Locations in the city.
You asked my opinion. I gave it. Don't act like I went out of my way to personally attack you.

Alright folks, that is enough of that. This is a recruitment thread, not a discussion thread.
Thanks.

Always liked tinkering based gnomes. Looking forward to that crunch!

I think it's mostly that many GM's and players don't really think about it, or don't know about it. That said, I'm looking forward to Thursday.
Also, if you're looking for advice on a character, why not make a post to the advice forum or Pathfinder Reddit and link to this thread? You'd get the feedback without gumming up the thread. You could also request people PM you.
And, so this post isn't totally off topic, I've got Gwyn's profile updated. Let me know if I'm missing anything. If anyone has any feedback, feel free to shoot me a PM.

MythWeaver Character Sheet
After much debate, I settled on the Psychometrist archetype. There are too many cool vigilante archetypes!
Raz will be starting with the Transmutation school; I'm planning to skin implements as useful trinkets/items that Razwin has acquired or constructed. The Legacy Weapon focus, for example, is going to be something closer to a series of interchangeable weapon hilts that store small charges of energy created using a fusion of mundane alchemy and light magic, rather than something that gains power from an otherworldly or occult source.
I'm also planning to convert my character sheet into the more standard format used on the Paizo forums.
Let me know if I'm missing anything important!
Just wanted to chime in that I've also been impressed with the caliber of the applicants, and love the characters, backgrounds, and stories. I'll probably wind up lurking and reading even if I don't get chosen. Good luck, all!

Hey, GM, I know that it's already May 11th, but would you accept a character submitted sometime in the next twelve hours? I am interested in this campaign, but I have been very busy with work during the past week and will be unable to finish a submission before the time I mentioned. I would appreciate it if you would be willing to make this concession, but I would accept your decision either way.

Oh man! The suspense is killing me. Will he make it in tike?!

All right, after much (much) consideration, discussion, modeling and investigation, I have my picks. As usual the community here is inventive, creative and mechanically savvy. This was one of the tougher groups to pick from. Nonetheless I have my choices....
Razwin Gillywhomper
and
Nyx Illisha
Thank you to all that applied and don't be surprised if I PM you some day recruiting for other games (I do it often).
The lucky two, head over to Discussion!
