About Jade Fox

The Black Whale huh? The worst part about it, is I didn't even commit a crime for this one. Sure, I've pulled off my fair share of robberies. But it feels wrong being arrested for a crime I didn't even do. Worse yet, I was framed. That spiteful tiefling Jerrux - sellout. And all because he didn't get the Blackrose job. He'll get his - when I get out of here, that is. I've never killed anyone on purpose before. He might be the first.

Guess, since I have time, I could tell you how this all started.
My brother was sick. Real sick. Like deadly sick. Some super plague or something. Not sure what it was. I'll leave that to the medics. Couldn't afford a doctor. Needed some money quick, so I decided the only way to come by some coins that fast was to take it. Slippery slope, this thought process is. The doctor was good. He was doing a good job, but my brother, Heihachi, couldn't quite shake it, so the doctor kept visiting, and the bills kept coming in. So it was back to the proverbial well. One thing I learned. Once you're ok with doing a thing once, doing it again ain't so hard.

Since then, Heihachi's gotten better, but now it's too hard to keep looking him in the eye. He'd be ashamed of me. Worse yet he'd speak shame about dishonoring the family and whatnot. He's a good man, but sometimes he get's real self-righteous, ya know? So I had to leave.

It wasn't too long before I got "employed" on job-to-job basis. Once I proved my worth, I got the big one. A merchant in Korvosa was transporting some jewels from the bank of Abadar to a ship for transport. I made off with the jewels and the ship to go along with it. I thought I had done it all unseen, but some begger saw the whole thing go down. Said it was a fox-folk who done it. They started calling me the Jade Fox. I bet they thought they were cute, with me being Kitsune, and us coming from Tian Xia and all. Trouble was, the jewels were emeralds. Stupid racist bastards. Jade indeed!

So now my ship's brought me to Absalom, only I had to sell it to score a flat here. And now I've lost that too. Probably the rest of the load as well. Talk about some bad luck! From my own ship to sitting imprisoned here in the Black Whale.

First thing I do when I get out of this cell is hit the flat. See if there's anything left. Second is see if Lovely is around. She's my cut-out. I get all my jobs from her, and if I haven't got any work, at least I can get some leads from her. She should be somewhere around the Crimson Coin. Thirdly, if that's a bust, I can go back to the well as a circus acrobat. Maybe there's some work in town I could find if times are too tough. Finally, I track down that no-good Jerrux. He's gonna pay. Really pay.

Racial Traits
Agile (Ex) +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics checks.
Change Shape A kitsune can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex. The kitsune always takes this specific form when she uses this ability. A kitsune in human form cannot use her bite attack, but gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear human. Changing shape is a standard action. This ability otherwise functions as alter self, except that the kitsune does not adjust her ability scores and can remain in this form indefinitely.
Duplicitous Many kitsune prefer to avoid the attention they often attract from human neighbors and attempt to convince all around them that they are human. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Disguise checks.
Natural Weapons In her natural form, a kitsune has a bite attack that deals 1d4 points of damage.

Ninja Class Features

Poison Use
Ki Pool At 2nd level, a ninja gains a pool of ki points, supernatural energy she can use to accomplish amazing feats. The number of points in the ninja’s ki pool is equal to 1/2 her ninja level + her Charisma modifier. As long as she has at least 1 point in her ki pool, she treats any Acrobatics skill check made to jump as if she had a running start. At 10th level, she also reduces the DC of Acrobatics skill checks made to jump by 1/2 (although she still cannot move farther than her speed allows).
By spending 1 point from her ki pool, a ninja can make one additional attack at her highest attack bonus, but she can do so only when making a full attack. In addition, she can spend 1 point to increase her speed by 20 feet for 1 round. Finally, a ninja can spend 1 point from her ki pool to give herself a +4 insight bonus on Stealth checks for 1 round. Each of these powers is activated as a swift action. A ninja can gain additional powers that consume points from her ki pool by selecting certain ninja tricks.
The ki pool is replenished each morning after 8 hours of rest or meditation; these hours do not need to be consecutive. If the ninja possesses levels in another class that grants points to a ki pool, ninja levels stack with the levels of that class to determine the total number of ki points in the combined pool, but only one ability score modifier is added to the total. The choice of which score to use is made when the second class ability is gained, and once made, the choice is set. The ninja can now use ki points from this pool to power the abilities of every class she possesses that grants a ki pool.
No Trace At 3rd level, a ninja learns to cover her tracks, remain hidden, and conceal her presence. The DC to track a ninja using the Survival skill increases by +1. In addition, her training gives her a +1 insight bonus on Disguise skill checks and on opposed Stealth checks whenever she is stationary and does not take any action for at least 1 round. Every three levels thereafter, the increase to Survival DCs and the bonuses on Disguise and opposed Stealth checks increase by 1.
Vanishing Trick As a swift action, the ninja can disappear for 1 round per level. This ability functions as invisibility. Using this ability uses up 1 ki point.

Swashbuckler Abilities
Panache More than just a lightly armored warrior, a swashbuckler is a daring combatant. She fights with panache: a fluctuating measure of a swashbuckler’s ability to perform amazing actions in combat. At the start of each day, a swashbuckler gains a number of panache points equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 1). Her panache goes up or down throughout the day, but usually cannot go higher than her Charisma modifier (minimum 1), though feats and magic items can affect this maximum. A swashbuckler spends panache to accomplish deeds (see below), and regains panache in the following ways.
Critical Hit with a Light or One-Handed Piercing Melee Weapon: Each time the swashbuckler confirms a critical hit with a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon, she regains 1 panache point. Confirming a critical hit on a helpless or unaware creature or a creature that has fewer Hit Dice than half the swashbuckler’s character level doesn’t restore panache.
Killing Blow with a Light or One-Handed Piercing Melee Weapon: When the swashbuckler reduces a creature to 0 or fewer hit points with a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon attack while in combat, she regains 1 panache point. Destroying an unattended object, reducing a helpless or unaware creature to 0 or fewer hit points, or reducing a creature that has fewer Hit Dice than half the swashbuckler’s character level to 0 or fewer hit points doesn’t restore any panache.
Deeds Swashbucklers spend panache points to accomplish deeds. Most deeds grant the swashbuckler a momentary bonus or effect, but some provide longer-lasting effects. Some deeds remain in effect while the swashbuckler has at least 1 panache point, but do not require expending panache to be maintained. A swashbuckler can only perform deeds of her level or lower. Unless otherwise noted, a deed can be performed multiple successive times, as long as the swashbuckler has or spends the required number of panache points to perform the deed.

Derring-Do (Ex): At 1st level, a swashbuckler can spend 1 panache point when she makes an Acrobatics, Climb, Escape Artist, Fly, Ride, or Swim check to roll 1d6 and add the result to the check. She can do this after she makes the check but before the result is revealed. If the result of the d6 roll is a natural 6, she rolls another 1d6 and adds it to the check. She can continue to do this as long as she rolls natural 6s, up to a number of times equal to her Dexterity modifier (minimum 1).

Dodging Panache (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet; doing so grants the swashbuckler a dodge bonus to AC equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 0) against the triggering attack. This movement doesn’t negate the attack, which is still resolved as if the swashbuckler had not moved from the original square. This movement is not a 5-foot step; it provokes attacks of opportunity from creatures other than the one who triggered this deed. The swashbuckler can only perform this deed while wearing light or no armor, and while carrying no heavier than a light load.

Opportune Parry and Riposte (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. The swashbuckler makes an attack roll as if she were making an attack of opportunity; for each size category the attacking creature is larger than the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler takes a –2 penalty on this roll. If her result is greater than the attacking creature’s result, the creature’s attack automatically misses. The swashbuckler must declare the use of this ability after the creature’s attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made. Upon performing a successful parry and if she has at least 1 panache point, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action make an attack against the creature whose attack she parried, provided that creature is within her reach. This deed’s cost cannot be reduced by any ability or effect that reduces the number of panache points a deed costs.
Swashbuckler Finesse At 1st level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, and she can use her Charisma score in place of Intelligence as a prerequisite for combat feats. This ability counts as having the Weapon Finesse feat for purposes of meeting feat prerequisites.
