Sorrin the Wayward |
I didn't see anything that could have been done without risking the mission.

You are correct for that one.
As you take in the scene the surface water breaks and the boy reappears. The sharkmen on the rocky protrusion reach down and pull him up. "The blessing has been given." The boy squirms slightly as the he sits up, his fingers gingerly rubbing his left thigh where he was bitten.
Another whining voice come from the cages suspended from the ceiling. Looking up you see another person waiting for his blessing.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna is quite relieved to be on draw land after the encounter with the eels. She decides that unless there is a dire need, she's going to stay on solid ground. Her rapier is returned to its sheath for the moment.
The bard waits for a message from Sorrin before continuing beyond the rocky outcropping.

"Hanging iron cages? They certainly have an appreciation for dramatic flair! Everyone is on the other side of the outcropping, we're moving out."
She gestures to her companions to move forward. "Sorrin says there's a pool 100 feet long up ahead with iron cages holding prisoners. Let's go."
Astrianna draws her longbow and begins to climb the rocky outcropping, moving forward with her lights.
Move to O31
Sorrin the Wayward |
Several pirates and two shark-men. I think it's the damned "kiss", they might be making more mindless shark-men. A boy... soul extinguished. If no cure, we have to kill them... ALL.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna relays Sorrin's information to the rest of the group. "Several pirates and two shark-men up ahead. Sorrin thinks they're spreading the kiss to the pirates, some ceremony. There's a boy and the prisoners there too, watch for friendly fire."

The book doesn't indicate how high the cages are only that they hang from the ceiling. I'll say the cages are only 2-3 feet from the water surface and the water can lap into the bottom espeically when there is thrashing in the pool. A terrifying effect for those waiting their turn to be kissed.
Here is a description.
They see Astri's light, but they do not see Sorrin.
A ledge along the west wall of this chamber juts like a platform eastward to the center of the water and stands just above the waterline. Rusted iron cages hang from the ceiling by chains. The water slaps the stone, black as midnight, and renders the depth of the pool indeterminate.
You see two hybrid shaped enforcers lift the fisherman recently ravished boy and stuff him back into his rusted cage. There he bleeds and moans in agony, covering the hideous gashes across his midsection with his bleeding arms. Three others joke about it when they notice the light coming form the other side of the lake.

Sorrin focuses on closing the gap and moves along the ledge...
Double move along the ledge. Rope Master, Take 10 for Acrobatics 24. I'll trust you to place him as far as he can get.
From Rope Master - "can take 10 when using Acrobatics to move over narrow surfaces even when in danger or distracted"

Round 1
Astrianna takes the high ground and casts a spell on her quiver to extend her ammunition reserves. "I'm tempted to dispel the invisibility just to watch ptahh carry you into battle, Sorrin."
Move action: 5' move to O32
Standard action: Cast Abundant Ammunition on quiver #1 (contains adamantine, blunt, and silver arrows). Using a Blunt arrow as the reagent to cast the spell.

"I'll get the rest of us across. Just need some cover," Chell says quietly to the others. She moves to a point right across from the rock outcropping O30. She says a brief prayer and soft mist rolls out from her location, obscuring their view. Once they are covered she says, "Give me a minute. I'll make a bridge."
Cast obscuring Mist. Going to build a bridge using Stone Shape. Just need to know if I need one round or two. Currently I can shape 18 cubic feet of stone and the other side is 35ft away. If I make it 6in deep will that still be strong enough? Can I reduce one to dimension for another? Do I need the scroll I have for another 15ft?
Sorrin the Wayward |
Slight arc, 1/12 rise. 18in at center. An arch bridge is a bridge with abutments at each end shaped as a curved arch. Arch bridges work by transferring the weight of the bridge and its loads partially into a horizontal thrust restrained by the abutments at either side.

I think I can make that. Google search came up with a lot of varied answers. Most involved people trying to use it as a way to capture an enemy. Some DM's said no while others offered a save. They all seemed to agree that as long as what you made fell within the volume you could mold then it was fine. And one source suggested that since it uses clay as a material component, then whatever you can shape with the clay is what you can make with the spell. Can I make a bridge out of clay? Probably. Can I make a statue that looks real? No. The question now becomes can I make a bridge 25 feet long and do it with 18 cubic feet of stone. I don't know. Never made that calculation.

Sorry about the delay, it's been hectic at the office. To keep it simple without doing geometry, I think you need two spells to cover the distance. You have 18 ft of stone but you can shape the stone within the 18 feet, but that does not include stretching the stone beyond the 18 ft. I could be wrong and would consider reassessing if you can link me to rule or interpretation.

This page mentions a lot of uses for the spell including making a bridge. I assume the only requirement is I must touch the bridge. Which I am. In a RL game I played, one of the players shrank the pillars holding up a roof and we collapsed it on a skeleton dragon. The spell is really useful but I promise not to use it in direct offense.

N,17? Can't tell how grid falls. From 20ft up... Expert Leaper ignores 20ft w/DC 15 Acro.

N:17 is fine. This room is bigger than I was able to make it. Each hex was suppose to be 10 ft, but there is only so much I can do the map grids.

Chell as far as you spell, it really doesn't matter to me. I'll let one spell cover the area.
I know I've been slow on my posting recently, but I'd like to try to move this action forward.
