I am currently unwounded Alexander. I recognize that we need to leave this place, but I do not plan to leave valuables behind to be picked over by those who might sneak in after us. If there are choice items that we can carry out now, I intend to do so. With that he continues to examine the items in the back room, looking for things of value, but also possible traps.

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht shrugs and nods, following the little man, "He's got a point Alexander, besides we've been over most of the room already during the fight. There can't be much more in here to risk disturbing. It is wise to bring out as much as we can each time we enter." with that he starts looking things over with Nefer. "I'm sure I can rig something up so that we can tie it to the bottom of the rope, so we can just all pull it up once we've climbed to the top. When we return.... as long as I have some block and tackle.... I could work up a lift system... with some more supplies... maybe a four point brace at the top.. at least two block and tackle... some extra rope and a platform... no that may be too much... what about a type of one man basket... yeah, that could work..."

bwatford |

Neferteri wanders over to the weapons rack and begins to inspect the weapons that are on it, being careful as he goes. The rack on the south wall holds a composite shortbow, the composite shortbow is still serviceable, but its string has deteriorated, and must be replaced before the weapon can be used. A masterwork khopesh, and a masterwork spear also rest in the rack.
Moving from the weapons rack to the rack to the east it proudly displays three shields. The shield on the right is a light wooden shield identical to the shields carried by the soldiers in the diorama. It bears Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs that spell the name “Akhentepi,” marking those soldiers as under the command of Akhentepi. The light wooden shield on the left does not appear to be Osirian in origin. The center shield is unusual in that it is a light steel shield shaped like a scarab; it matches the one borne by Akhentepi in the engravings on the doors earlier. It is also the shield that Alexander detected magic from.
Looking at and inspecting the diorama the group notices that it has a sculpted landscape and tiny stone and wooden statues, the diorama depicts an ancient battle between the city of Wati and an unidentified enemy. However it does not appear to have any real value other than nice window dressing and now that the animated statues are gone it no longer detects as magical.
All five chest in the room as well as the urn are all sealed with wax.

Neferteri will both renew his own dancing lights and cast Detect Magic as part of his investigations. He studies the foreign shield design, wondering about its origin.
Knowledge (Geography): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
He will point out the masterwork weapons and gather all three before examining the chests and urn.

Nulyth Shenir |

Nulyth joins Neferteri in examining the weapons and shields, clearly interested in the shields... "I agree with Neferteri. We should gather up what we can from the areas we have cleared. We do not know what manner of thieves and cheats will enter this tomb after we have left..." He looks at all the gathered chests... "Perhaps we should use some of our profits to purchase a cart to ensure easier transport for any goods we may find tomorrow?"

bwatford |

Neferteri can determine that the light wooden shield on the left that does not appear to be Osirian in origin, is actually similar in style to those used by tribes in the Mwangi Expanse far to the south.
Neferteri's detection of magic confirms the magic from the chest with the potions and the magic aura from the scarab shield but he can not determine the school of magic.
Neferteri +8 lbs. This puts him at a medium load.

Neferteri has not studied spell craft but will attempt to identify the potions by taste.
Perception 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Perception 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
This potions a healing drought. It replicates a Cure Light Wounds spell. The other lets the imbiber see in the dark for about 30 minutes.
He then turns to the chests and urn. Shall we open these here or try to take them with us?

Alexander Pierpoint |

"Those items are rather commonplace, though useful," Alexander says. He limps over to the scarab shield and points it out. "This is far more rare! Nulyth, you may wish to carry this. Not only is it magically enhanced to serve you better in combat, it also has other qualities."
This +1 light steel shield is fashioned in the shape of a scarab beetle—a creature that functions as a psychopomp for Pharasma, guiding the souls of the departed into the afterlife. Scarab shields are especially favored by archaeologists and tomb raiders for the protection they grant against guardians and vermin frequently found in ancient ruins and forgotten tombs.
Once per day on command, a scarab shield grants its wielder a +2 sacred bonus on saving throws against fear and death effects for 3 minutes. At any time while this bonus is in effect, the wielder can end the effect as a swift action for a burst of healing energy. The wielder loses the saving throw bonus, but is healed of 1d8+3 points of damage.
In addition, a scarab shield can protect its wielder from swarms. If a mindless swarm attempts to enter the wielder’s space, the swarm must attempt a DC 11 Will save. If the save succeeds, the swarm can enter the wielder’s space and attack the wielder normally. If the save fails, the swarm instinctively avoids the space occupied by the wielder, completely ignoring the wielder for 3 rounds. This effect ends if the wielder makes any attacks, but the wielder may use non-attack spells or otherwise act without ending the effect. This ability functions once per day.

Nulyth Shenir |

Nulyth listens to Alexander's explanation of the shield as he points it out and then looks down at his own simple, wooden shield. "I could definitely make good use of such a shield." He retrieves the shield, testing its make and weight. "It is much lighter and easier to wield. Unless anyone has an objection, I would gladly keep this shield!"
While he waits for the rest of the group to chime in, he suggests perhaps the healing potion should go to Alexander. "Perhaps we ought to give the healing draught to Alexander, he seems to be drawing much more ire from the denizens of this tomb than any other." He smiles wryly at the aged wizard.
AC remains the same, but I lose -2 ACP and drop 4 pounds from my encumbrance! Which I am all about. So, baring someone disagreeing, Nulyth will take the Scarab Shield.

![]() |

Good with me, for at least until next level. Note that you should be immune to fear, which negates one of the powers of the shield. And you will soon also be able to heal yourself with a swift lay on hands. Which will make another power at least somewhat redundant. So at some point we may want to hand it down to Holbrecht. Perhaps after getting you a +1 largershield? Just do not forget to turn it on so that you can use the power to heal yourself. Oh, also no one wants to have a swarm on them, but this will send the swarm from you, who will likely be up front back to those of us with fewer hit points and worse saves. This may not always work in the groups best interest.

bwatford |

Added the Scarab Shield to Nulyth. Still need to know who is carrying what of the other treasure and what we are doing with the other chest and urn.
Also Nulyth, what are you doing with your old heavy wooden shield?

Nulyth Shenir |

Okay, I'll update my character sheet. Also... I need to change the link under my profile to the sheet you linked to us earlier. As far as the old shield, he'll just leave it in the tomb for now until it can be retrieved later (and likely sold).
In reference to the shield, Neferteri is the only other member that is proficient with a shield and I don't think he can use a medium-sized shield?
Lastly, I wish khopesh's weren't exotic weapons, I like the image of Nulyth wielding a khopesh, but I don't want to burn a feat for that. Especially since mechanically speaking, it's not really any better than a longsword (unless you devote feats into Improved Trip).

Alexander Pierpoint |

"I thank you, and will be happy to carry these potions," Alexander says. "But I would like to suggest we make our way back to Neferteri's home for now and rest up for the night. If I am not fully recovered by dawn, perhaps Holbrecht will give me the benefit of some clerical healing, and we can keep the potions in reserve for genuine emergencies."
His eyes turn to Lin. "As the only other person with no healing powers of their own, my dear, perhaps you should like to carry one of these restoratives with you."
The old man briefly purses his lips, then points the heel of his cane at Nulyth's current shield. "Perhaps you might like to leave that in the scarab shield's place, as a form of recompense to Akhentepi? 'A fair trade is not theft', and all. Now. What of these other objects? If no one else will, I am willing to try and carry the books, but I am... not strong and may become even slower."
Unless anyone objects, I'll carry one healing potion.

![]() |

My place it it is, after we get these chests and urn open. And what are you talking about Alexander? I have no healing powers. Not sure what you have heard about us halflings. And unless you count the shield, Nulyth has no healing powers either.
Neferteri works to open each chest Not sure we we can carry the contents but I'll at least know what is in here. after the chests have all been opened he will check the contents of the urn by puncturing the wax seal of the urn and trying to look inside, casting light inside if necessary.

Nulyth Shenir |

Nulyth nods at Alexander's suggestion of leaving his old shield as recompense for taking the Scarab shield. "That is an excellent suggestion, Alexander. While my old shield is by no means a suitable replacement, perhaps Akhentepi will view the gesture as honorable." The aasimar places his old shield upon the rack in the empty spot left by the magical shield, which he then straps to his arm.
When the topic of carrying item comes up Nulyth offers to carry a good portion of the heaviest items. "As I mentioned before, I can easily carry another one hundred pounds without reaching the full amount that I can haul. If we load the heaviest items into a chest, I can then carry that chest to the rope, which can then be pulled up. Also, might I suggest we perhaps look into purchasing a large enough ladder to climb in and out, as well as a pulley system of some kind to haul out the heavier items?"

bwatford |

Nefereteri gets down to the business of opening the five chest, the chests are of good craftsmanship but less ornate than the one found in the area with the chariot. None of the chest appear to have a locking mechanism on them and each is sealed with wax, which was a common tradition for preserving items in a tomb. After spending about ten minutes looking the chest over Neferteri is assured that they are not trapped.
Beginning with the chest in the northwest corner, Neferteri uses one of his arrows to slice through the wax seal as he opens the chest up. Inside of the chest is a small sack with 100 gold pieces inside. Moving to the second chest and repeating the process there is a pouch with 42 silver pieces inside. Moving to the third chest there are several scroll tubes holding papyrus records and private memos of Akentepi. Moving to the fourth chest it holds expense ledgers, speeches, and private correspondence. Moving to the fifth chest it is empty.
Neferteri then moves to the clay urn and spends a couple minutes checking it for possible traps before breaking the wax seal. It contains an expensive smelling perfume that immediately fills the room with its pleasant sent.
Appraise checks can be done on both the documents, ledgers, etc as a whole, one can also be done on the perfume.
Also neither the golden books or ledgers, papers just found have been studyed by anyone. Both will require Ancient Osiriani as a language or a DC25 Linguistics check.
Alexander + Cure Light Wounds Potion
Party Treasure + Anketepi ledgers/papers + 200 gp + 42 sp + Urn of unknown perfume + 5 small treasure chest + small sack + pouch
Again I still need to know who is carrying what. I will get these added to the party treasure list shortly with weights, etc.

Holbrecht Bastionne |

When Nulyth mentions rigging up a system for getting things up and down the pit Holbrecht nods vigorously, "Yes, that's what I was just thinking... or did I say it? ... Maybe I was thinking loudly again... Hmm, who knows?, Yes, once we get to the top and haul it up, I think I can carry a lot more. I don't think we'll have much luck finding a sixty-foot ladder, nor be able to haul one around. I could rig up a pully system, but it would have to be a simple one, otherwise I'll get lost in the work and we don't have too much time to go through this tomb."

bwatford |

Over the course of the next few hours our group of adventurers manage to get the treasure hall from their first day in the tomb back to Neferteri's place in the safe and sound confines of Wati away from the dusty trapped filled tomb. As the group sits around now and goes over their take. They must now decide what is to be kept and who is carrying what items and what is going to the market. There is plenty of time left in the day as it is currently afternoon and they noticed that the markets were already abuz with items coming out of the necropolis. They were all eager to get their share as well.
I need to know who is getting what out of what hasn't been split up yet. What will be kept and a list of what is being sold off. Once we get that done then everyone can go shopping or explore other parts of the city. If you want to do anything in the city before resting. The necropolis gates close at sundown around 8pm and will reopen tomorrow at 6am.

Alexander Pierpoint |

"I cannot part from these scrolls and tomes," Alexander says, as he sits regarding the books. "Or at least, I can not bear to flog them for mere money. This is knowledge, history brought to light after centuries of oblivion! If nothing else, I would donate these books and scrolls to the temple of Pharasma after I have finished writing down of them what I may. They are the proper keepers of knowledge of the dead, and will be able to protect these texts from scurrilous thieves as well as copy them for posterity."

![]() |

Nefeteri frowns at the wizard. There is value in knowledge, and value in antiquity. Let us copy the knowledge from these manuscripts and then try to sell them to someone who values them as much as we do. That way we retain the knowledge and profit from the item itself. We can listen to what an offerer plans to do with them before choosing to sell them if you like.
We need to find the right buyer anyway to maximize our return on these items. Might as well RP selling them. Perhaps the church of Pharasma will actually buy them. Or perhaps Alexander will choose to take them as part of his share and donate them. Neferteri does not venerate the goddess of death and does not wish to make a donation himself.

Nulyth Shenir |

Once back at Neferteri's place Nulyth immediately begins to remove his breastplate, relishing in the instant gratification of all the built up sweat beginning to cool almost immediately. He quietly allows the others to make the determination on how to proceed with their findings while allowing his clothing to dry out from the exertions in the tomb.

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht nods and agrees with Alexander, and Nefer, simultaneously. "Yes, there is plenty to learn from these papers and books, and I would almost prefer to stay and study them instead of returning to the tomb. I did suggest early on, though, that we look at selling any items of historical value to the Grand Mausoleum library, even if we don't get the best price. That way the shared knowledge remains, and we still manage to continue to fund the expedition."
Responding to Nefer's latest mention, he agrees, "I would say carpenter, as I will need to purchase some supplies for the make-shift lift and pulley system I intend on making, and they might have what I need on hand. Other than the information garnered from all the books, scrolls and papers we found, I have no need for any of the other stuff."

![]() |

Well, we had a hard time with some of the challenges we faced. I recommend we take what funds are gained and purchase better equipment for all. Who know what we might face next time?

Lin Zi |

Faced with loads of history to carry, Lin quickly summons up Kachu again to take his fair load in his blue-furred arms then dismisses him with it back to his home plane. Riding high on danger, treasure and survival Lin speaks up.
"Whatever we're going to sell, I'll need you to tell me how much it is worth, that I might get a fair bargain for us all. With more success we may be notables of these markets for some time, a fair price will sow seeds for a fair reputation later." She grins and attempts to brace her load on one hand, raising an elbow to wipe away drops of sweat. "More than material worth, might be well to know just a little of the history of our trove; if we are selling or giving them to Churches then I'll need to know which other religions would be likely to supposedly declare interest."

bwatford |

After returning to Neferteri's and going through their first haul from the tombs, Alexander and Holbrecht changed into some fresh clothes and got down to the business of pouring over the ledgers and scrolls and books and scripts that the group brought back from the tomb. Meanwhile Lin Zi, Nulyth and Neferteri gathered up some of their loot and went down to the Sunburst Market to see the vendors and what they might get for their new possessions.
Activity in the market was at a peak when the trio arrived, vendors and their specialties was easy enough to make out, there was weapon dealers and armor sellers, ones that dealt in paintings and art, vases and perfumes there was also vendors that specialized in oddities and strange artifacts, The entire atmosphere was overwhelming, much like the great markets in Absolom. The trio got down to business first with a weapons dealer, showing the merchant the shields and short bow and the Khopesh and the Spear that came out of the tomb of Akhentepi. Lin Zi ever embellishing the fact from which they came and the tiny dolls they had to fight to gather such valuable items. The merchant first looked over the bow, it was still serviceable but needed to be restrung. Not great craftsmanship, well used. He then looked over and was overjoyed with both the craftsmanship and the history behind both the spear and khopesh. He noted the fine detail work and pointed out the signature marks that were representative of the time period that they were made. He then looked at the shields, slightly intrigued by the light wooden shield in the design of the Mwagi Expanse. Noticed the battle scars on each and kind of shrugged at the trio on them.
"I will give you 35 platinum for the lot." the merchant exclaims waiting for a response.
While the trio was busy in the market Alexander and Holbrecht began to go through the two books with thin, gold-plated metal sheets for pages. The first is a brief biography of Akhentepi, and the detailing his life and birth and his accomplishments as a military commander and the second is a list and description of the various military campaigns conducted by the nation of Osirion between 2350 and 2450 ar. It looked like the information was engraved into the thin gold pages to help the book preserve better over time. The historical value contained within was immense as far as military campaigns of the time went. It also had a brief explanation for the plaque of madness that swept over the city in 2499. It was one of the last entries in the book, it explained that Akhentepi had lost his family years earlier and had took himself a mistress but does not go into more details before the plaque entry.
The entry in the book reads 'But Wati’s destiny was forever warped in 2499 ar, when the cult of Lamashtu unleashed the Plague of Madness among the city’s thriving populace. Many of those whom the fever did not immediately kill were driven to murderous insanity, and within months, more than half the city had fallen in painful, anguished death. Most of the survivors fled Wati to make new homes elsewhere, but a stubborn minority remained behind, determined to reclaim their city. But even once the plague had run its course, their livelihoods collapsed as An and Tephu took over Wati’s once exclusive trade routes, and their floundering community struggled against recurring outbreaks of the undead from the city’s many abandoned buildings-turned-tombs' From the way the books are written it seems some were written firsthand by Akhentepi himself but the later entries seem to have been written by someone else as they speak of Akhentepi in the third person. Perhaps some of the final entries were added just after he died but before the tomb was sealed.
Let me know if the merchants offer is acceptable and then we will move on.

Alexander Pierpoint |

When Lin Zi, Nulyth and Neferteri leave, Alexander distractedly asks them to purchase him a few supplies from his share of the proceeds: a journal, a vial of ink and an inkpen.
"And a bandana, I suppose," he says, "or a hat with a wide brim." The old man rubs the brand reading 'THIEF' on his his forehead with an expression of disgust.
That'd be 18 gp and 1 sp for the writing goods. No idea about the forehead-cover.
"This is priceless," Alexander says once Holbrecht and he have concluded their research, his expression mournful. "Collector, my hairless rump. We must present these texts to the Pharasmin. To leave this in the hands of some miser, rather than making it available to the world, would be an act of vilest greed. If necessary, I will tell the others that they can take the value of sale out of my share."
The old man notes the reference to a mistress and frowns, thoughtfully. He starts to search the scrolls for any other references.

![]() |

Turning to Lin Zi and Nulyth Neferteri comments It is a reasonable offer. But since this is a weapons dealer I wonder if we could get slightly more value by trading for a masterwork weapons and some coin?
Our GM may not go for this, but I am wondering if instead of half price for coin if the dealer might give us a little more than half price if we were willing to accept trade. Perhaps with a good diplomacy roll? If he had a masterwork scimitar and short bow for instance… I am not sure what the split will be but if Neferteri has enough coin he would love to upgrade his bow.
Your offer is very fair good sir. But I wonder if you might prefer to retain some of your hard earned coin and make us a good deal on some of your merchandise? If so, and you can give us good terms I can offer to let you have first rights of refusal on any new items we find.
Diplomacy with Luck: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht nods in agreement with Alexander's statement, but once again makes a point of taking a stance on the middle ground, "Yes, you are right... but, we can appease all members. As long as we sell to the Grand Mausoleum, if even at a lower price than we could get elsewhere, then the records will be kept and available to the public, and we continue to increase our funding."
He purses his lips, seeing the determination in the man's expression, "If they are unwilling to buy it, then, then you could choose to buy them for yourself and donate them. I wouldn't volunteer yourself out of coming out ahead if all parties can come out ahead from the start."
With that said, Holbrecht begins making a list of the supplies he will need for his lift and pulley mechanism for when they do shopping of their own. After he has made his list, he remembers the parts of the construct he gathered. He draws the pieces out and begins taking copious notes on what he can from how they were made and operate.

bwatford |

The weapons merchant listens intently to Neferteri's offer of trade and listens to some of the things that the halfling searches for. He then fiddles around his wares until he pulls out a small bow with exquisite craftsmanship.
"I believe this will fit your small but skilled hands quite proficiently. Don't get many of your distinct size but one of the other halflings sold this item to me just this morning. I tell you what I will do, if you promise I get the first dibs on future weapons that you might find in the tombs. Take the small Masterwork Shortbow and 5 platinum in trade for the items you offer and you have yourself a deal." the merchant offers with wide eyes waiting for a response.
Meanwhile Alexander and Holbrecht now began the task of sorting the scrolls and the ledgers, flipping through them to discern their contents. The papyrus records in the scroll tube looks like records of shipment of military goods across the different installations at the time, private correspondences between generals and military leaders which may have been of a highly secretive nature at the time but now it was hard to make out all their exact meanings. There was copies of speeches that Akhentepi gave to his troops at different times before battle, ledgers of troop transfers and notes on different soldiers and what they were best at and who they were assigned under. In a paticular group of papers that discuss the tomb directly. It seems after the death of his family, Akhentepi took a mistress whom he planned to eventually marry. Preparations for a secondary tomb for her were begun here. When Akhentepi died unexpectedly, no financial provisions had yet been made to continue excavating her tomb. Further construction on his mistress’s crypt was abandoned, and the tomb was sealed in its current state once Akhentepi’s interment was complete. It also speaks of a child that was born from the mistress but doesn't go into more detail, however the name of the mistress is given.... Andromeda Pierpoint and apparently all she received from Akhentepi's last will was a pair of amulets as the will had not been changed yet to include her in any other way. It does mention that one of the amulets was buried with Akhentepi and the other one Andromeda kept.
Let me know if the merchants offer is acceptable and then we will move on.

Alexander Pierpoint |

Alexander drops the papyrus he was reading with regards to Andromeda Pierpoint, barely in time before they spasm into trembling fists. His expression is terrible.
"Now," he says in a hoarse voice, "I have more reason than ever to get to the bottom of that tomb. And also more reason than ever not to let these documents fall into the hands of some private collector." The old man speaks the last two words with the kind of distaste people usually reserve for the description of a room whose floor was unexpectedly covered in cockroaches...

Nulyth Shenir |

Nulyth listens to the offer from the merchant and looks to Nefer and Lin. "Whatever the two of you think, bartering and dealing is not my forte. If you believe this to be a good deal, Neferteri, then I just your judgement." He wipes at the sweat trickling into his eyes. He looks around at the crowded market to get an idea of how the rest of the explorers have fared in their ventures.

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht huffs, scowls, gently places the work he is doing on the doll down on the table. Then he speaks slowly for the inattentive that have clearly been ignoring what he's said repeatedly, "Alexander.. no one.. has suggested.. that we sell.. to a private collector. We are saying.. we sell to.. the Pharasmin church. You know,.. the Grand Mausoleum.. where we did research?" He is clearly frustrated by how many times he has said it, yet the man keeps repeating an issue no one has even introduced.
"If they.. won't buy it.. THEN.. feel free.. to buy.. for yourself.. from your share. I'm sure.. we could.. all agree.. that we're willing.. to sell to the church.. even at.. reduced prices.." He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, then picks back up what he's been studying with the construct.

bwatford |

As the trio of adventurers wait for an agreement on price with the weapons merchant back at Neferteri's Holbrecht ask Alexander to come with him to the matket to fetch some supplies and to see about hireling a carpenter to disassemble the chariot and reassemble it for them. Agreeing that it would probably do him good at the moment to stretch his legs the duo head down to the Sunburst Market. After asking around about a carpenter or experts in chariots the duo is finally advised of who to speak to. One of the only merchants in Wati that deals in chariots and often does reproductions of the sort. After finding the merchant and meeting with him the merchant says that he may be able to help you with your current dilemma if he would be able to have a look at the chariot first and be able to purchase it if he so chooses.
He goes on to explain the intricacies of assembling and disassembling such a machine, especially if you wanted the war machine to still function. He explains it would need to put together a team to get it back to the surface properly and to reassemble it properly. The merchant insist that he will lead the team himself and the charge would be 35 goldpieces for the work. He also explains that it would take about 2 days total. One day to disassemble and get each piece secured and crated to be hauled up by rope, he assures you that each piece needs to be crated for protection but a pulley system would not really be necessary because of crating the individual pieces. Once everything is brought up then on the second day they could reassemble the pieces and make sure everything is in working order.
However the merchant absolutely refuses to enter the tomb with his men until you have both agreed upon the cost of the work and that the tomb was completely cleared of any possible inhabitants.

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht scowls and ponders the information they are given, before he explains, "That seems like it will be a problem. You see, regardless of the safety of the tomb, or the fees paid, you are not allowed to enter the Necropolis unless you have registered as a team and have elected a spokeman in conjunction with the rules as set forth by the Grand Mausoleum. Is there any way you could allow me to study the requirements necessary to do what is needed? I will instead pay you a reasonable price for my education and still assure you that you will have first choice in purchasing the chariot."
If the man agrees to teach him, he will absolutely be spending a skill point in craft carpentry.

Alexander Pierpoint |

Before going out, the old Wizard ties a piece of cloth around his head. It makes him look vaguely like an erudite pirate -- and handily hides the 'THIEF'-brand. During Holbrecht's negotiations, Alexander eyes the carpenter, his face expressionless, and finally shrugs.
"There are magics that could shrink the chariot and lift it out of the tomb," he tells Holbrecht, "but those are blastedly expensive and might end up costing us more than the sale of the chariot would yield. Your learning the fine art of carpentry may well be the more sensible course of action."

As the chariot dealer listens to Holbrecht's response he ponders the question for a moment. "Perhaps you are correct and the Pharasmins would not allow me to bring a team into the necropolis without permission." he then begins to look over Holbrecht and try to size up what his abilities might be. "You may be able to accomplish the task of getting it to me for proper rebuilding. But I would need to know the design of the chariot before instruction could begin. Perhaps you could draw it out for me, mark all the locations of connecting pins and fasteners, especially on the wheels and shroud. Most of the dis-assembly will have to take place with the chariot in an inverted position once you get the wheels off. It also depends on how complex this machine is, some were equipped with springs for rocky terrain, others were not. Some were wood some were metal. I would need a complete diagram if I could teach you at all."
There is messenger service available from the Sanctum of Silver and Gold (Temple of Abadar) for local communication within Osiron's borders. If you need long distance correspondence then you would need the services of Terhk’s Fine Expeditions which may be able to get a message to a foreign land but it would take some time.

Alexander Pierpoint |

"Still alive. Have leads on Timothy's murder. Also need you to research family archives. Find ANDROMEDA PIERPOINT. May have found origin of our family in Wati. Andromeda unwed mistress of general Akhentepi."
A brief not-much-of-a-smile flickers over Alexander's face.
"It seems we shall have reason to return to the chariot's current place of rest," he murmurs. "And to buy you a sheet of parchment and some charcoal, as well, Holbrecht."
The old man wipes some of the sweat off of his face. "I could use a cold beer," he says. "Or some cold water, at least. Let's go to the Tooth & Hookah once our other business is concluded. We've earned a drink after this day."

Neferteri is unable to tear the summoner away from her study of some ancient blade but assumes that since she does not object that it is acceptable for him to concluded the trade.
Good merchant, it is with pleasure that I agree to your terms and look forward to additional business dealings with you in the future. Can you also offer coin for this small bow I carry? It is not as fine as the one you just sold me, but with your extended clientele I am sure you would find a purchaser soon. Why I know of a group of halflings staying at a local inn that are expiring the tombs myself.

Nulyth Shenir |

While Neferteri finishes brokering their deal with the merchant, Nulyth looks around at all the different weapons. He admires the exquisite craftsmanship of several of them, tasting their edge with his thumb and sucking on his thumb after slicing it on one of the blade. "A little sharper than I expected."

Holbrecht Bastionne |

Holbrecht waves off Alexander's suggestion, pulling out his oft-used scroll case replete with many sheets of paper. He also draws his inkwell and pen, and tries to muddle together what he can from memory for at least a start. "I may remember some of the finer details, as I did give it a thorough once over...granted with the eye of an engineer.... not a carpenter... though the trades seem reliant... I imagine I would take to learning the craft fairly well... especially based on my studies... There. Does any of that help for the moment?" He drew as much as he could remember from when he examined the chariot earlier.

The trio of adventurers concludes the offered transaction with the weapons merchant, he takes the items from the group and hands Neferteri the small masterwork shortbow and 5 platinum pieces. After the transaction has been completed Neferteri offers the merchant his own shortbow for sale. The merchant looks it over and shrugs, "Give you 1 platinum and 5 gold for it. Best I can do on an ordinary weapon." he says as he waits for a response.
Meanwhile across the market Holbrecht draws what he can from memory for the merchant and gives it to him.... "This is what I was afraid of, it's a ancient Osirian New Kingdom Chariot Model A; with New Kingdom detailed harness systems for horses; this baby here has springs and everything. It was the ultimate war machine of its time. This must have belonged to a general or a pharaoh himself perhaps?" he pauses momentarily before continuing.
"Not going to be so simple to teach you to disassemble it. It would be impossible for one not fully trained as a driver or a carpenter. We will have to do some intensive lessons. Come see me when you have some free time and we will get started."

A untrained skill check can not beat any DC higher than 10. It will be a DC 15 Craft (Carpentry) or Profession (Driver) check to successfully disassemble the chariot without breaking it. You will have to wait until the group levels so you can gain the skill before attempting it or convince the Grand Mausoleum to let you bring in professionals to remove the Chariot.

Neferteri agrees to part with his more mundane short bow, balancing the need to have a back up with the weight of carrying and extra weapon. It is a fare offer and I will accept it. he says obviously pleased that the man has not tried to cheat him.

Neferteri agrees with the merchants terms and sells his old bow. Once the trio finihes their dealings with the weapon merchant they begin to look around for a merchant dealing in treasure chest.
They soon find one that is dealing with another group of adventurers in front of you. Once the group in front of them is done then the trio steps up and presents the ornate chest and the other five small treasure chest that they had found. The merchants eyes swell at the sight of the ornate one as he begins looking it over and says to you "This chest is absolutely beautiful, lacquered white and trimmed in gold inlay. Undamaged and a functioning trap. I will offer 20 platinum pieces for it. For it is a true work of art."
He then looks over the other 5 small chest, and simply says "I will give you 5 gold for the lot. Do we have a deal?"

The distance is roughly 720 miles (420 via ship and 300 overland) it will take roughly 18 days to deliver your message and the cost would be 15 gold. So just let me know when you want to send it as soon as you have the 15 gold.

Per your earlier post the sale price for the 5 small chests was 7.5 gold. Shall we bargain over each sale or assume for mundane items they can be sold for what you state is the selling value?
You wound me good sir, offering what I know is less that fair value for our wares. My friends and I risked our very lives to recover these items and bring them to you. No, I shall take my 6 chests over to the stall across the way. Perhaps he will be more willing to offer a reasonable price. Neerteri turns to leave...

Lin Zi |

Lin quickly joins the assault with a dazzling smile and barrage of words- "I myself can vouch for the danger in retrieving this items, deep from the tomb of Akhentepi, as well as my own personal appreciation of their beauty and fittingness of function. I could not see myself purchasing these for less than fifteen gold pieces should I ever decide to leave this beautiful desert city of yours and settle down so surely we can find eachother agreeable on a different price..."
