![]() Returning to the inn, you find it not the place it was just a few hours ago, with the deadline now passed the inn is mostly empty, except for a few locals and a couple adventuring looking fellows sitting at one table. Farhaan is busy sweeping up and the staff looks exhausted. Upon entering Farhaan smiles and says.. "Did you fine folks get registered in time?" looking around he adds. "Most of the guest are off in their rooms either planning for the big day tomorrow or already asleep. Place hasn't been this quiet for days." he picks up pieces of a broken glass from the floor. "A much needed break in activity however." ![]()
![]() Farhaan gives Saedue her change and says "I will have your bath drawn right up, Would you like perfumed water? If so please let your bath attendent know. We have Susinum (a perfume based on lily, myrrh, cinnamon), Cyprinum (based upon henna, cardamom, cinnamon, myrrh and southernwood) and Mendesian (myrrh and cassia with assorted gums and resins) available for a extra silver usually but business is so good I think I will let you decide for free." he says obviously in heightened spirits by all the coin coming into the establishment this evening. Mechanics: Saedue -1 silver ![]()
![]() Farhaan slides Seadue's silver into his pouch. "The regular rooms do not come with bathing facilities, only the suites. However we do offer hot bath services for a silver. When you are ready you can just pay me and I will have your bath prepared." he says with a smile. Mechanics: Saedue -1 Silver Piece. ![]()
![]() As the daughters of the Desert finish their business they head up the stairs. Farhaan then turns his attention to Saedue. "Welcome to the Tooth & Hookah" he says with a smile. After hearing your inquire about a room he responds to your request... “Regular rooms cheap, just a silver a night per person, two people maximum, or a suite for more just 3 gold per night per person, but that’s for groups of travelers. So what will it be for you tonight dear?" he says as he kind of looks over your shoulder from the direction you came from. ![]()
![]() Farhaan looks at Bjoern and nods... "It is quite simple really, you must have an adventuring company/group or organization of at least four people. You have to designate a spokesman/leader that will interact with the priest handling the lottery. When you have that then you report to the Grand Masoleum to register your group. They then will give you a token. That token will go in the drawing. When they draw your token they will draw a random site token and match those up and that is where your group will be assigned to explore. There will be three drawings, each a week apart so each team will get three sites total and will have up to a week to explore each one in turn." he says now a little winded. "That about sums it up." he says. ![]()
![]() Farhaan gives Bjoern a old metal key with the number 4 etched into it. He then records your tab in a journal. Everyone has arrived but you do not know each other yet, no adventuring company has been formed and all of you are looking for others to form one. So you have not signed up for the lottery as of yet. Mechanics: Bjoern -1 gold, -1 silver ![]()
![]() The Garundi Barkeep turns his attention to Bjoern's request. Picture: Click Here Farhaan lets out a deep chuckle and gestures to a set of stairs half-hidden behind a screen painted with a camel. The artist’s haphazard brushstrokes gave the poor beast a look of permanent indigestion. “Regular rooms cheap, just a silver a night per person, two people maximum, or a suite for more just 3 gold per night per person, but that’s for groups of travelers. Unless you’ve got friends on the way?” He then pauses for a second before reaching down and retrieving something from under the bar. He then sits a sizable wooden stick cut from hardwood on the table. He has various stains and lacerations along its length. "The rooms have locks, but they are for the honest type. Me I use old 'Gertrude' here as a attitude adjuster just in case someone thinks my belongings are theirs." he then looks directly into your eyes. "Our rooms have locks and foot lockers for your stuff. No one is going to mess with anyone's stuff on my watch." he says. Farhaan then reaches behind the bar and produces a cup onto the counter then pours you something out of a ceramic carafe. You sip the sharp, clear liquid in the cup. It smelled a bit like roses and a bit like licorice. Farhaan then looks at you and ask with a smile "So stranger, what will it be?." Mechanics: Bjoern -1 Silver ![]()
![]() As is customary for Farhaan he waves off your payment for water. After listening to your question in responds in a low serious tone that you have not heard him take before. "Nefer my boy, you can't be seriously considering going in there? Do you remember that night you had a little much to drink in here and I told you the story of the one time I went in there and what happened don't you? Well I can tell you no good will ever come from it." he sighs not waiting for an answer. "Let these fools go treasure hunting, you stay safe and keep your head down. Don't get messed up with those halflings. When those priest find out they are taking an entire pack of dogs in those tombs they will never hear the end of it. You know they are just gonna trash the site and you know the Pharasmins won't be having that. One of the rules of the lottery. " he laughs. Doing his best impression of the high priestess.."Every Slave’s Hut Is a Memorial: Every structure within the necropolis is a testament to the people who lived and died in the city. Explorers must not desecrate or vandalize standing structures and tombs, but preserve them as the memorials they were intended to be. Some structures may be trapped or decrepit, but willful and unnecessary destruction will not be tolerated." He then looks at you.... "What do you think those dogs are going to do?" Farhaan then looks about the room.... "About the only legitimate group forming in this room is that old wizard type there with the flag, his intent seems noble and not just tomb raidery." "If you must see about going through with this, then I would talk to him, but watch out for that girl, she's a looker and as silver tongued as they come." he says as he dips you another cold mug of water. ![]()
![]() Farhaan takes the silver piece from Nulyth and slides him a key with the number 1 etched upon it. He then slides a menu onto the table in front of Alexander. The menu is written in chalk on a green slate material. "For the lady? She tends to like the bottles of Elven Blush" he says while raising a cocked eyebrow. Tooth & Hookah Menu and Services Adding the document to the campaign info tab as well Nulyth -1 silver. ![]()
![]() Farhaan looks strangely at the dwarf of whom he still doesn't know the name. "Maybe you can help me with something Mr. Dwarf. A certain patron gave me this." he pulls a single small gem from his pouch and lays it on the counter in front of Holbrecht. The gem looks almost like ice with a faint blue tint. It is almost crystal clear and sparkles even in the low light of the room. "The patron said it was something called an 'Ice Diamond' I haven't had time to take it over to the Sanctum of Silver and Gold yet to see what it was worth but the patron said it would cover all their expenses while here and then some." Farhaan says as he bends down to the dwarf's level. "Can you tell me what exactly it is worth or where it comes from there Mr. Dwarf?" Then seeing the approach and announcement by the young girl on being a thief, Farhaan quickly picks the gem back up and pockets it. "Maybe some other time." ![]()
![]() Waiting for a break in the conversation between Alexander and the dwarf Farhaan continues his conversation with Alexander in Ancient Osiriani. Ancient Osiriani Language:: Farhaan shrugs.
Alexander, your brother was here a while back. Stayed a few days before the incident. Timothy was in the company of another man, one whom Timothy said could talk with the dead. Ancient Osiriani Language:: Farhaan said with a straight look on his face.
"On the morning before they found Timothy's body just inside the gates of the necropolis Timothy came to me and was really excited and nervous. Told me about some big discovery they would make that day, about some artifact that was going to change the world." Ancient Osiriani Language:: with that Farhaan reaches below the counter.
"I have heard that story a hundred times from travelers around these parts. But this time it was different. He gave me the description of his older brother and said if his brother were to come calling if something happened to him I was to give you a package. He then gave me the package that I was to give to his older brother upon his arrival and told me to only speak of it in this language. Said you would understand." Upon standing back up Farhaan has a ornate wooden box about the size of a tobacco box and sits it on the counter. The engravings on the lacquered black box are trimmed with gold leaf and have the holy symbol of Nethys on it. A mask with both a black side and a white side. Farhaan slides it toward you. You also notice that the box has a very high quality lock on it as well. Farhaan looks at Alexander and says... Ancient Osiriani Language:: "Sorry, Timothy didn't leave a key." ![]()
![]() Farhaan turning back to the Dwarf in a balance that looks expertly and diplomatically played as if the barkeep has done this for many years. He begins to speak to the dwarf. "They call it a lottery because the tombs are drawn at random to make it fair. Perhaps you get drawn a real tomb, or perhaps you get drawn a barbershop. Either way they are all make shift tombs. Just some are considered better than others I suppose." Farhaan laughs. "and yes you need a group, and by the looks of it half the patrons in this bar right now are looking for the same thing." he says and then pauses. "Maybe this gentleman even." turning back to the wizard. The entire gesture seems to be a ploy to get both of you aware of each other so it would be easier for him to address both customers at the same time without causing any grief to the other. ![]()
![]() Farhaan recognizes another patron at the bar and turns his attention to the newcomer. He takes the silver for the requested room and hands Alexander a old key marked with the number 2 on it. He then takes the ceramic carafe and pours a cup for Alexander the same as he did for Holbrecht. Then he opens his mouth to speak but pauses upon looking into the wizards face. Then begins to speak in Ancient Osiriani. Ancient Osiriani Language:
"Are you a Pierpoint? Relation to a Timothy? The resemblance is astounding. Of course he is younger but still the resemblance is quite striking." he says in a low direct tone. Alexander -1 Silver ![]()
![]() Farhaan waves off the offer of more payment. "Consider it included with the room. You do like it I hope. It's an old family recipe." he says as he closes your hand around the coin. He then scans the room as if to check up on his serving girls and anything going on in the bar. Almost as if he was expecting some sort of trouble. He then turns his attention back to you. "So Mr. Dwarf are you here for the lottery as well?" he ask inquisitively. ![]()
![]() Farhaan takes your silver and gives you a room key. It has the number 4 etched on the old metal. Farhaan then looks at you strangely as you mutter to yourself the complexities of arithmetic and equations. "The well or Toothy?" he says before realizing you were speaking of the well and not the tiny crocodile that rest within. "It was here way before my time. I didn't have the inn built, but I purchased it a few years ago after an adventure into the necropolis. The well does go very deep, not real sure how far down however." moving with you over to the end of the bar where the well is he continues. "Must be vast however as toothy just surfaced one day and seems to like it here. We feed him scraps, but he never seems to get any longer than six inches. And doesn't seem to have the desire to go back to wherever it is he came from." he then throws a morsel of meat into the well and it is quickly gobbled up my the small crocodile. Farhaan quickly reaches behind the bar and produces a cup onto the counter then pours you something out of a ceramic carafe. You sip the sharp, clear liquid in the cup. It smelled a bit like roses and a bit like licorice. Farhaan then looks at you and ask with a smile "Do you always do that?, I mean talking to yourself." Holbrecht -1 silver. ![]()
