Tirok and Ivori:
"They did not say a reason. Just that they had surrendered. As fair know they had not done anything against any law so don't know why they would have needed to surrender. I do not have much experience dealing with hellknights and I doubt I could combat a whole fort of them."

Camlo sighs as the woman ignores him, and allows himself to be taken by the guards. He's obviously well practiced at this bit. While Asher is causing a distraction, he pockets his thieves tools.

Aubrey:

If I recall, the number of actual Hellknights in a hellknight facility isn't usually all that high - a few full-fledged knights and bunch of men-at-arms (Armingers? Do I have that right?). What would Ivori have seen about the forces in the Fort, and were any out on patrol or such? Would he have any idea where the cells would be?

Tirok and Ivori:

"Tell me about your companions and their capabilities. They'll be disarmed, of course, but I don't know if this fort has the ability to ward casters completely.

How small of an animal can you become? Would you be able to get word to your comrades if we need to plan a breakout?"

He begins to lead his horse back toward the fort.

Tikrok and Ivori:
"Well, Camlo, the halfling, is good with a knife. He gave me quite the wound when he was confused. Illes has some magical talent and is skilled storyteller. Sefayll, whom you spoke with, also has some magical ability. I've only just met Asher myself but he was playing close attention to a special looking crossbow while we made camp. Elisile, the elf, is a skilled bowman and mage. I'm pretty sure Illes and Elisile are still with us.

As for forms I can turn into, a mouse or a bat would probably go unnoticed. If necessary I can turn into an earth elemental and earth glide under the fort.

Sefayll allows herself a moment as she is led to the cells to feel sorry for herself, but realizes quickly that she hasn’t earned the luxury. She was a fool and she’s dragged her friends into a mess of her making. When she realized the Order controlled the fort, she should have turned around and waited for them in town.

Now, her life is forfeit, but she must make sure her friends do not pay for her error. But how.

Sorry for the missing spoiler.

Spoilers, please.

Tirok and Ivori:
"I haven't seen it for myself but he seems the type. I'm not sure how stealthy you can be with all that armor. Perhaps you can cover the exit in case things go badly. Can you talk your way into the keep? Then you can be closer to the action one things go sideways. I spent most of my magical protections on myself when I thought I was going to have to stop the hellknights from executing the dwarf but I have some left to help you move faster if necessary."

Spells in question are slipstream and feather step. As for my spells cast earlier, freedom of movement and barkskin were both extended so they should last 3 hours 40 mins. Strong jaw and bears endurance both expired. I'm not sure how far away Ivori set up camp so it's up to you if the long duration spells are still going Aubrey.

Ivori:

Spoiler:
The forces are mostly hellknights and some armiger squires - most armigers generally stay at the main fortress-headquarters to get trained/indoctrinated as a hellknight before being allowed out. Total forces maybe about thirty. They do patrol the area so some will be out and about. They have some cells, they are in the bottom level of the keep, though you haven't personally seen them - you didn't enter the keep, mostly just kept to the outbuildings.

Try a Perception and Diplomacy check (this isn't for Tikrok, its an abstraction of what you either noticed or discuivered through conversation).

Tikrok:

Spoiler:
If the duration is hours, it's still going.

The rest:

Spoiler:
With the exception of the casters Illes, Sef and Elisile, the rest of you may converse.

Dravite calls from his cell, "What the fook is that all aboot? Fekkin' hellknights..."

"I dinnae get ye," says Dravite, "What have we all done?"

Camlo:

Spoiler:
Yes, it did.

Ivori:

Spoiler:
Ivori recalls talking to one of the last remaining Blackarrows rangers at the fort. Apparently, behind the waterfall just to the south of the fort, there is a tunnel which leads under the keep to the cells. It was how the adventurers got in when they retook it from the ogres. The hellknights know about it but as far as Ivori knows they haven't done much about it yet.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

The Rest:
"We have done nothing. Sef was told never to return to the Hell knights, and so by stepping foot ion the fort, apparently has broken their law and her life is forfit."

Aubs:
In that case, Camlo will wait for a time when there are no guards immediately about, and attempt to escape his cell and locate Sef, with the intention of having a chat with her. I.e break out, break into her cell, release her bonds, have a chat, then put everything back without being discovered.

"It sounds like that cave behind the waterfall is our best bet. Hopefully we can get in and out without causing to much ruckus. I'm sure we will have to recover their equipment once we spring them from the cells. Also, much of our traveling gear was stowed on their horses which we will need to retrieve somehow. You wouldn't happen to know where this waterfall is do you? I'm sure I could find it if necessary."

Tikrok and Ivori:

Spoiler:
It's right beside the fort so you both will have seen it.

Tirok and Ivori:

How about we send Tirok in in tiny animal form - maybe a bat? at dusk so he can determine the location of his friends. Can he communicate in that form? If not, maybe carry a tiny note (a la Hedwig...) letting them know to be ready.

HP: 108/108, AC:30/16/26, Fort:+11/Ref:+8/Will:+12 CMD: 32, Init+6, Perc+17 current form(Giant Vulture) Effects:beastspeak, extended barkskin, extended strong jaw

Tikrok and Ivori:
Sounds good to me. New plan: Wild shape into the infamous bat shape at dusk with a note to let the rest of the team know we are about to spring them. Baring them trying their own escape plan it should go well. Try to get as close to the cave as sensible in case we hear something going down.

Tikrok and Ivori:

Spoiler:
Druid and explorer decide on their plan of action and head back towards the fort. The shadows are lengthening as they get close. Ivori scribbles a note which he hands to Tikrok. Tikrok then transforms into the shape of a bat, heading for the waterfall beside the fort.

Ivori:

Spoiler:
What are you going to do now?

Tikrok:

Spoiler:
Tikrok files towards the waterfall. Now he knows it is there, he spies the cave about ten feet above the pool at the cascade's base. it is slightly tricky but he is able to inveigle his way behind the falling stream and into the passage beyond. His echolocation reveals a cave leading into the rock. After fluttering about for a few minutes he discovers that the pace is empty of any human life. However, he finds a few branching passages and it isn't obvious which way to go.

Survival check to work out which branch leads under the keep and (presumably) to the dungeon.

The Rest:

Spoiler:
The cells are in a corridor, separated from the jailhouse guardroom by a door. The hellknights largely leave the prisoners alone, although every few minutes one patrols the corridor to make sure no one is trying anything.

If Camlo is to carry out his plan, he will fist need to make a Disable Device check (DC 30) to undo the lock on his door, make a Stealth check (DC to be determined) to crepp out to Sef's cell, and make another DC 30 Disable Device check to undo her door.

Aubrey:

As much as Ivori would like to take a casual walk all around the fort and observe the defenders...Hellknights were, he knew, a step above the average castle guards.

He moved to the best spot he could, in sight of the cave but out of sight of the walls, and settled in to wait for Tirok. Or an explosion. Whichever came first, really.

Ivori:

Spoiler:
Ivori settles down to watch the for, a few hundred feet away from the gate and just withing the treeline.

Tikrok:

Spoiler:
Tikrok finds a few doors lewading from the caves. It is quite the labyrinth down here, but he reckons he has found one door which would lead to the bailey close to the stables. But the one which really interests him should, by his reckoning, be under the keep. He can't open it in bat-form so he reverts to his human shape. Pressing his ear to it, he can just about hear the scrape of a chair on a stone floor.

The rest:

Spoiler:
Camlo waits for a suitable moment after the guard has done his round. The good thing about lawful hellkinights is their predictability. Whipping out his tools (ooer, Mrs!), unlocking the door is little more than a formality. He creeps to Sefayll's cell and finds no more difficulty opening that door than his own. He finds her lying on the floor, still manacled and gagged.

Asher pontificates in his cell to Camlo, not realizing the halfling is not close enough to hear him. He tells stories about his childhood, a vacation he took, and a bit a bout a squirrel. It's quite a bonding experience for the two of them. Almost.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

The Rest:
"No, none of that Sef. You wouldn't leave any of us behind. We will not leave you. Either we all get out, or none of us do. I would have been dead in this place long since if it wasn't for this group of miss-fits. It's time to return the favor."

She gives him a grateful smile. With a steadying breath, she pushes the depression of the situation out of her mind and says, "That altruistic streak will bring you to harm someday, Master Zenovia. Please free my hands. Do you think you can re-tie them so I can free myself if necessary?"

Once her hands are free, she will take a moment to cast detect magic and concentrate on different parts of the room to see if there is any sort of magic in force.

Alwyn is riding up the road to Fort Rannick from Turtleback ferry. As this is pacified Hellknight territory, he makes no attempts to be stealthy or to disguise himself.

Ivori, Alwyn:

With the continuous roar of the waterfall, Ivori doesn't hear the hoofbeats of Alwyn's horse. Only as his attention wavers does he glance to see the rather intimidating figure riding up the road.

Not more Hellknights coming ba...No. No, definitely NOT a Hellknight, he thinks to himself, seeing the skull-helm and tiger skin.

Tall one, that. Almost elf-tall...but dressed a bit rough for any elf I ever met. Maybe he's not headed for the fort...

Alwyn:

Spoiler:
As he rides closer to the fort, Alwyn notices a figure lurking in the trees near the waterfall to the side of the castle, partially concealed by the vegetation and the oncoming dusk but not from Alwyn's keen senses.

Tikrok:

Spoiler:
Having checked out the passages, Tikrok returns to Ivori for reinforcements. As he reaches the cave mouth under the falls he looks about cautiously and notices a rider on the road to the fort, his horse halted and looking at Ivori's hiding place. With a jolt he recognizes Alwyn, the Shoanti Gorumite who he thought he had despatched to the tribal conclave far north of here.

ivori & Alwyn:
Tikrok makes his way out of the cave to Ivori's hiding spot. Once there, "Fear not swordsman, that is no foe. That is Alwyn Agnarrson of the shoanti, a man I thought I had sent home to his tribe. What he is doing here I don't know." Tikrok waves for Alwyn to approach.

If that's a Shoanti, I can see why he's not with his tribe, Ivori thinks, taking in the newcomers nontraditional appearance. Meh. Who am I to judge? I'd not exactly be a common sight among the wagons.

Hands well away from his weapons, Ivori greets Alwyn.

"Well met, Alwyn Agnarrson. I am called Ivori Zalakura, and I think your friends are in trouble," he says, offering his forearm to the big Shoanti.

Spoiler:
"Well met, Ivori. I see you are with my old companion Tikrok; his friends are my friends. May the blessings of the Lord In Iron be with you both." Alwyn grabs the Varisian swordsman's hand and gives it a hearty shake.

"What seems to be the problem at the fort? I never liked or trusted the damned Hellknights; if they have reneged on the deal we had, blood will flow." Alwyn seems entirely comfortable with the prospect of cracking Hellknight heads.

Ivori, Alwyn, Tikrok:
"We approached the fort looking to gain supplies and navigational aids for a trek across the cinderlands to Kaer Maga. I was in the shape of a horse as we arrived as I don't trust these hellknights. It turns out it was a good move as the rest of the group was 'escorted' into the fort. No sooner had they gone inside when a couple hellknights grabbed Dravite from where he was working and held a sword to his neck. A few moments later they dragged him inside as well and I made a quick getaway. I would imagine they've been taken to the dungeons below the fort. I've already scouted the tunnels behind the waterfall and found them unguarded. I suggest we make haste in getting to them before these hellknights make any more rash decisions."

Spoiler:

Alwyn tips the faceplate of his skull helmet into place - it is the yellow-stained white of ancient, weathered bone with a bloody handprint over the right side of it. "Before we free our buddies we need to agree on a strategy - do we subdue or kill the Hellknights? Killing Hellknights does not bother me in the slightest, but then we'll need to kill all of them to stop word of this from reaching their headquarters. It might be more politic to knock them out; we can always get rid of them later if needed."

With a growled oath, Alwyn's platemail erupts with fierce-looking spikes. He draws his greatsword and nods at Tikrok. "I'll lead the way. Open it whenever you are ready."

I'm casting Gorum's armour now - it'll last 2 hours. With the mask, cloak, greatsword and overall height, Alwyn already looks pretty scary; the spikes should put the intimidation factor over the top.

Ivori, Tirok, Alwyn:

Ivori purses his lips and nods, impressed, as the Shoanti gets even scarier.
"I'd say knock them out. If we kill any, they'll be hounding us for years. They're annoying enough without such a grudge.

He draws is own blade and nods his readiness to Tirok.
