Has anyone else had issues with threads spontaneously un-dotting themselves on here lately?

I don't know, I don't tend to browse the forums much any more.

I *did* lose all my RSS feeds for a few days though, and discovered that if you look at your profile, there is a "campaigns" tab that has all those you post in, with updates of how many messages since you last read the thread on it.

Very useful.

Yes, I lose my dots all the time. It's been going on for ages, though - months, at least. It's pretty annoying, to say the least.

Grand Lodge

I only recall losing the dots one time, but I've been accessing the updates through the "campaigns" tab since they introduced it.

I see the dots go from time to time, but usually only for threads I have not posted in for a while. The active ones seem to stay dotted for me. Another DM of mine started a whole new thread because he could not get the dot to stick. No idea why - it always worked for me.

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

I just essentially closed all the games and comment threads besides the ones I run or am in, so dots are immaterial if there's only 4 threads in each section.

Heads up.....home computer bit it. I'll be offline until the situation is handled; I doubt it will take long; maybe today even.

If I'm not on tonight, though, that's what's up.

FYI I am heading out to a gaming convention tomorrow, so my posting is likely to drop off considerably until probably Monday afternoon. Cheers!

I'll be out possibly a week. Computer in the shop.

Sorry for my continuing silence. I'm a bit stressed and busy and while I have some time to post, I've got a bit of writer's block - i.e. I don't have the space to think about what's going to happen next. The situation should resolve itself soon.

Hey Aubrey, I fancy trying something if you are willing.....

The maps you share out on Google Drive, we *should* be able to map into our own Drive, where we have a google account. I can't work out how to do that, but I think it's because you are just sharing it publically and giving a link. If you shared it to an individual google account, gmail address whatever, I think it should work.

It'd make it a bit easier for us (me) to keep track of maps, rather than keep pasting links....

Fancy giving it a try??

This is me...

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

That should work. Everyone would need a google.docs account but that's easy (you just put in an email address to register, and it doesn't have to be a Google on, and you are there). What do people think?

Dark Archive RPG Superstar 2013 Top 32

Works for me. I already have a Google account.

Sure, go for it.

Looking for one or two players for my 4e Dark Sun campaign - anyone interested?

I'm interested in observing, but I have no business in starting another game.

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Have no business? You can if you want. I always had you pegged as a 4e-unkeen, though. I leave it up to you, but you are welcome should you wish to play.

"No business" as in I would not do it justice - I'm in too many to consider another right now. And you are correct, I know next to nothing about 4e, so the learning curve would not help.

But if I watch for a bit, maybe I'll catch on.

We're moving house this week; then, we're going to Arizona for our holidays. So I'll be mostly absent until Saturday and then on Arizona time for two weeks. I'll be back in Norway on January 3.

Found the DS thread and gave it a read. As always, you tell a good tale, sir.

I intend to lurk for a bit, but I can't devote the time necessary to jump in and it looks like you have plenty of new recruits, anyway.

I'm nearly done - we should be back in the New Year. I also bought the NPC Codex, which should held enormously (but not, sadly, for this particular encounter). But one NPC and then we are rockin'!

I have received a gift horse and, rather than looking it in the mouth, I'm going to go for a ride. I will be far from home and computer for the next ten days or so. Please bot Sefayll in my absence.

Talk to you soon!

The gift horse in question was a ticket to a Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic. We had several days at sea and stopped at Montego Bay (Jamaica), Georgetown (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands), and Cozumel (Mexico). We got to snorkel out to a shipwreck and hike to (and climb up!) a Mayan pyramid.

I know several of you are much more traveled than I am, so this might not sound like a big deal for you, but this was an absolutely amazing experience for someone that had never even been to the seashore. It's going to be very hard to return to reality...

What pyramid? Chichen Itza?

Spanky the Leprechaun wrote:
What pyramid? Chichen Itza?

Coba. It's not as developed as Chichen Itza, but it's within a few hours drive of Playa del Carmen, so we could land in Cozumel, take a ferry to Playa del Carmen, take a bus (with a pretty good guide, I have to say) to the village of Coba and the archeological site, and hike the last 1.5 km to the pyramid. And reverse course to make it back to the ship just in time for it to leave.

We could not have squeezed Chichen Itza in - it's another 100 km west - and they no longer allow people to climb it, anyway, because there are so many visitors to that site that the ruins would really suffer from the traffic. Or so I was told.

They said Coba was a commercial power earlier than Chichen Itza, largely because it controlled what little water was in the area for quite a while, but as the cities developed, Chichen Itza got the upper hand and Coba became less of a local power even though it still controlled a lot of commerce. They think there were 55,000 Mayans in the city and its surrounding region at its peak.

It's a more rugged, undeveloped site, but it was cool, nonetheless. And in the dry season, there were no mosquitoes. Sadly, my regular visits to donate blood are deferred automatically for 12 months because I dared to step foot in the Yucatan.

Grand Lodge

Sounds awesome.

Blood donations are funny things that way - I wasn't allowed to give blood for ten years after getting tattooed in Russia. Nevermind that the studio was probably the cleanest place I've been in my entire life...
