Michel:
You do not feel anything odd.

"We'll have to see." says Lucius. "Please hold her head." Then he opens the bottle and pours a brown liquid down Gül's throat. A couple of seconds pass, and the woman wakes up coughing.

You're awake and back to 7 HP!

"A miracle." The priest smiles. "How are you feeling?"

Gül sits up, coughing and sputtering.
"Ugh"
She clears her throat one more time while wiping some spittle from her cheek.
"I feel a little bit like I drowned, but good otherwise..."

as Gül's eyes trace her surroundings, she adds
"Um, where am I? Or rather, where are we?"

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

"We're in a Christian church. Away from battle."
"At least those of use who survived."
"Misimba and his lion were killed, as was Octavia."
"Something or someone else distracted those jet (black) elves."
"Otherwise, the rest of us would be dead to."
"So, here we are. Battered, and fewer in number."

"I guess we should say thanks to whatever led those black elves away... hey, where is Berk?"
As soon as Gül said his name, Berk the snake quickly and quietly slithered out from her ample cloak.
"When did-"
Berk interrupts by coiling around her waist as her "genuine snake skin belt"
"...you always were a sneaky fellow, Berk"
Gül stands up.
"So, think we can go back and get my backpack? I left my bedroll back in town..."
not to mention I think I put my book in there.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

"This probably is not the best time."
"What, with a battle raging and all that."

"Where in town did you leave it?" The monk inquires. "We might be okay to get into town depending on how badly you need your things. I can't imagine the entire town would be embroiled in warfare right? Worst comes to worst, we could sneak our way in."

"But first," Michel says, "we must convince anyone we can to take the dark elf threat seriously. And whatever else it was in there that made that noise."

"It's just in the Gentle Genie, in my room. I should've brought everything instead of just getting Berk." Gül replies.

"Oh well, as long as the place doesn't burn, my stuff will probably be fine."
Gül looks around the rather gloomy room. "Anyone around here we can talk to about those guys that almost killed us?"

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

"Whatever else made that noise must be powerful, if those dark elves ignored finishing us off."
"Not that I'm complaining about the timing, mind.

Gül suppresses a yawn and says
"Do you guys think that we should just rest here in the church until the fighting dies down?"

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

"I can't really do much else right now except recover a bit."

"Wait." intervenes Lucius. "Maybe we could send one of us to take our things here. My donkey, Alfonso, is in the town and I can not leave him there for long. If all of your things are in the Genie, I can go myself and Alfonso will help me carrying them. What do you think?" The priest stands up, ready to leave if you agree.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

"If you wish. I still have my supplies with me."
"I have been travelling light so long, I'm used to it."

"I would be very grateful for my bedroll..."
Gül's face lights up at a thought.
...and my book
"Ah, and my father's book if you can, but don't do anything too risky father Lucius."

"I am sure the Lord will protect me. Abel, do you want to go with me?" The priest puts the bottle back in the table and looks at the man, but he just lies in the floor, saying nothing and staring at nothing.

"I will pray for your wife and kid. Goodbye." he says kindly before leaving through one of the side doors.

Virgil:
The battle comes to you suddenly. One moment you are just walking in the town and at the next you are dodging the gunshots and the charging horses. In some moment you were hit by something and made your way, stunned and stumbling, to a dark alley where you took a few seconds to recover. Looking around, you can see a pile of rubble that partially covers one exit of the passage. There are small houses at your sides and the big street from which you came is behind you. A lot of noise comes from there. Shouts and shots and neighing.

Shaking his sore head a bit, the handsome 1/2 orc mumbles a curse.
Don't want to be hurting that now.

Virgil peers around, as he creeps closer to the partially block end of the alley.

What in the name of The Drunk is going on!

Virgil attempts to avoid any of the houses, although he is paying attention to any calls for alarms, as he steps by them.

Virgil:
You are coming closer to the rubbage when you hear a loud noise and the trash flies in all directions, pushing you back a little. When you look again, a brown horse lies unconscious or dead in the floor, having crashed against the barrier and tripped. The animal has been shot in the side of the head and, underneath it, lies its
rider, young man with olive skin and black hair.

"Matteo." he mutters. He is trapped under his steed and possibly hurt.

Virgil cautiously approaches the down rider.
Having no experience in the medical field, the 1/2 orc gives him a quick look over.
I wonder whose side he is on? And is Matteo his name?

Virgil:
You can see soldiers running around at the streets at both ends of the alley, but none of them seem to be paying any attention to you. When you approach the fallen man, he twists and seems to stare at one of your tattoos. Suddenly, he mutters another name.

"Ognos? Where?" the man blinks several times and seems to snap back to reality. "You are not... Please, you must help me. I can't move. The horse..."

Virgil nods in understanding.
He thinks that I a someone else. Must be another 1/2 orc around this town.

Keeping his distant from the man's sword arm, the ever-suspicious 1/2 orc attempts to pull the horse off the rider.

Virgil:
With tremendous effort you manage to move the horse enough for the man to free himself.

"Thank you, stranger. Father Lucius of the Holy Chatolic Church, at your service. We should go now." He then grabs a backpack that lies at his side and tries to stand up, but legs fail him and he falls again to the ground. "Wait." The priest rises again and stumbles a bit, but finally manages to stabilize. Then he digs in his pocket, takes out a bag, and tosses it to you. It's full of gold.

"Can you escort me to the church in the outskirts?"

Virgil reflexively catches the pouch of gold.
He shrugs his shoulders, as he pockets the pouch.

I suppose, but what is happening out there? I have only been in the city for a short time and I am a bit confounded by the sudden appearance of this violence.

The 1/2 orc then reaches out to steady the priest.

My name is Virgil Geryon. I will assist you, if able, father.

Virgil:
"The Ottomans and the Aq Qoyunlu, fighting for this land. What else there is to know?" explains Father Lucius briefly, while beckoning you to follow. The priest hobbles for a while, but moves at a fast pace. When he turns his back to you, you can see a huge bite on it, going deep into his flesh, having teared great part of his clothes. It is clear to you that no regular animal or human could have caused it.

You run through many streets and the battle is always near you, but Lucius seems to be capable to avoid the worst places and you get out to the field without problems, reaching a gravel road. Far ahead, there is a building.

"There!" says Lucius. "That is the..." Suddenly, your companion stops moving. "He is here, Virgil. Run!" he shouts as he points back, and you turn only to see a horrific monster, that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. It is a six-armed humanoid horror, garbed in golden armor and surrounded by a nimbus of floating, glowing weaponry, from a club to a scimitar. The creatures's skin is completely black, and, instead of eyes and a mouth, its face has six lines that glow red and six immense grey fangs that resemble a grimace.

You are hearing a whistle inside your head, and an infernal voice resonates in your skull. "Yes." says the voice. "You should run."

I will go with no...lol.

Hurrying through the battle-strewn streets and alleys; following the priest closely, Virgil memorizes the look of both combatants.

Might need that information,, the 1/2 orc thinks.

The priest's pointing finger leads Virgil's sight up to the building ahead.

He takes a step forward, as the warning comes from the frightened father.

Seeing this thing manifest, Virgil's blue eyes go wide.

Not being one to argue where his life is concerned, the 1/2 orc takes off in the direction of the building!

Virgil:
You run as fast as you can, with Lucius at your side, and you see the monster is not following you. Instead, he just looks at you and suddenly appears ahead, between you and the church!

He walks slowly towards you, grinning with his horrible fangs.

"He's looking for me, Virgil." says the priest calmly while giving you a backpack. "There's a letter inside. You must give it to Brother Michel, in the church. It is necessary to defend the Faith!" He then runs away from the road. The creature once again dissapears and appear close to Lucius, and you see him trying to run in different directions. "Thank you!" you believe he says before dissapearing into the tall grass.

The path to the church is now clear.
