Yanda will give the wand a try, since you asked...
umd, heroism: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 = 26
She can also activate wands of CLW for anyone interested. She will not bother healing herself at this point, so she has the time.
Onjatan
|
Not knowing how long they were going to wait, Onjatan has Yanda intersperse uses of his CLW wand while waiting for the Infernal Healing to complete its task.
2 uses of Infernal healing on Araga, and 3 on Onjatan
Araga CLW:
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Onjatan CLW:
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Araga is now at full HP, and Onjatan is at 69/70 HP
While waiting, he checks the fire room to make sure nothing is sneaking up from behind, then checks the exit door for traps.
Perception vs enemies in smoke room: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
Perception vs door (+2 vs unusual stonework): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23

Looking around, they see nothing else of interest in the chamber, nor any secret doors.
Where would you like to go and do you want to return the way you came (back over the pit of eels) or go through the locked door at the far end of the tomb? Btw, I misspoke when I said that Yarrix has the key. She certainly doesn't since the whole idea was to lock her in there where she could never harm anyone! So if you want to go through the locked door you'll have to deal with the lock.
Also note that some of your buffs have expired, as noted above.
Araga
|
Araga consults her tremorsense, then briefly dips through the floor to check whether anything had moved in while the Pathfinders were elsewhere. There was that room where they lost hours, so there could have been time for things to move in.
She comes back and reports her findings.

Araga slips underneath the locked door and finds that the room with the statues is just as it was previously. As silent as the grave.
Meanwhile, Yanda is able to unlock the door.
Sorry again for the long delay - there's only a couple of things left on this level so we should be able to wrap it up soon. That said, I'm at a conference this weekend so I won't be able to post again until Sunday. That said, you basically have two options at this point: head through the door and investigate the room with the statues more thoroughly (you pretty much zipped by it before due to concern about your buffs expiring) and the other area of the map that is still covered up. Which would you like to explore?
Firewarden Yanda
|
"Well, I still have a few buffs extracts working, so let's head north and deal with the area there that we have not explored yet," she suggests, referring to the door to the north of the octagonal room.
Right before opening the door, though, she will down an extract of fly and then shield.

Did Araga not pick anything up on Tremorsense before going through?
Onjatan and Araga have the standard master/familiar empathic link. If her emotions started going weird he'd probably open the door before the third round.
Empathic Link (Su): The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.
And technically, on a nitpicky tangent... according to this FAQ, Araga isn't able to carry anything. Which means "damage to self with item in hand" isn't technically possible. I think it's still reasonable, mind, but just thought it an interesting loophole Paizo wrote themselves into.
| GM Abraham |
Araga did not detect anything with her Tremorsense before passing through the wall.
Onjatan can sense something unsettling in Araga though what exactly may be happening with her is unclear.

The group waits for Araga's return but she does not reappear. Onjatan's empathic link with Araga detects some sort of a shift - while previously he sensed something unsettling or confusing, now the emotions coming from her are more jumbled, chaotic, even mad. And then - abruptly - the linkage cuts off altogether! Onjatan can no longer sense any emotions coming from his familiar, but in almost the same moment there is an audible thud which the entire group can hear! Onjatan opens the door and sees the unmoving body of Araga directly in front of him. The chamber is filled with a blue fog that obscures vision beyond 5'.
Map updated but since you can only see the first 5' square I've only uncovered that much so far. But the door is open (and Araga is on the ground in the first square). If you wish to move in beyond that first square just use an arrow to show me where you want to move and I'll let you know what happens - the fog only obscures vision beyond 5' so you would see any obstacle before you actually walked into it.

Onjatan quickly checks his surroundings.
Two questions:
1) I assume whatever happened to Araga did not depend on her breathing in the fog? Because elementals don't breathe.
2) Any loose rocks that could be used to push her out of the fog? Barring that, can Onjatan's warhammer roll her out without Onjatan himself getting in there?
| GM Abraham |
Yanda hurls a flask of acid into the room. Other than hearing it shatter when it hits the floor, she is unable to tell if it had any other effect.
Not breathing dependent.
No loose rocks. You can pick up Araga and/or touch to deliver a spell and/or make a heal check and/or give a potion, all from your current adjacent square, as usual rules for what you can do from adjacent.
no way to know if something is in the room or where they may be.
Onjatan
|
Working quickly, Onjatan reaches into the room, grabs Araga, and deposits her against the wall.
Pick up the tiny-sized sorta-rock and lay her out of the way. The questions about his warhammer or rocks were mostly about keeping Onjatan from coming into contact with the mist

Alas, Araga is dead.

Per the talent that grants a familiar, Araga jumps back into Onjatan's mind when she dies. So... what does she know?
EDIT: And there is absolutely no way Onjatan would have waited for six rounds to go after her. None. He was expecting her back at two rounds, and sent her in when they were ready to open the door. And was this an area effect that hit her, or a targeted effect? Because she's pretty stealthy.
| GM Abraham |
Onjatan receives Araga back into his mind after she dies. Unfortunately, her mind is all a jumble, as if before she died she went mad. Onjatan, per the talent you quoted, you have Alertness but no other benefits from your familiar.
Since this would have happened back when she died - her corpse falling to the floor was the source of the loud thump you all heard - we can rewind the action to that point and Yanda and Onjatan can have their actions back. No reason for you to use your turn recovering Aragas body if you already know she’s dead. So… the door is still closed, you don’t know about the fog yet, and we are in initiative, with Yanda and Onjatan both to act.
Onjatan, exactly two rounds passed after she burrowed through the wall. I’m not sure where you are getting 6 rounds from? After telling you what you you learned from round 1: unclear jumbled thoughts, I waited a bit to see if anyone wanted to do anything, then processed the stated action: opening the door after 2 rounds. Unfortunately 2 rounds is what it took for Araga to die. Sending your familiar ahead to scout is a high risk high reward strategy; in this case it didn’t work out. After the fight is over I’ll be happy to explain what happened.
Also, everyone, this fight could be very dangerous. Good time to review all those misc chronicle boons.

I mean if that's the case, fine, but it seemed both really odd and like it was taking several rounds.
I would hardly call this "send the familiar ahead to scout." From my perspective, we lined up on a corner and asked the rogue to poke their head around the corner. The rogue climbed up 10' or so, so she wasn't where anyone would be watching for someone coming around the corner, carefully poked her head barely through the wall instead of around the corner... and then rapidly punched herself in the throat three times per round? That's not "normal risks of scouting", that's "author wants you dead right now" levels of pain.
Onjatan starts reaching for the door, then jerks slightly and pauses.
"A r a g a . d i e d .."
He appears to be listening. "M a y . b e . i n s a n e .. C o n f u s e d .. M u d d l e d .."

Ok, I made a dumb mistake and in addition I made a rules interpretation that on reflection could just as easily be interpreted another way which will hopefully be marginally helpful to you all. So... retcon:
Self dmg, with Str and resonance and DR: 1d8 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 1 = 10 Araga takes 10 dmg and is confused.
Second round: Araga fails 3 more saves (L2, M2, R2). Takes dmg *only once.*
Self dmg, with Str and resonance and DR: 1d8 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 1 = 7 Araga takes 7 more dmg (total dmg is 17) and is confused.
Then Onjatan opens the door and initiative is rolled: start of round 1.
Here's what has happened so far:
After Onjatan boosts Araga up and she burrows through the wall above the door at first he senses nothing particular from her, except perhaps the sweaty (do elementals sweat? probably not...) exertion of burrowing through the stone wall. But then something shifts: he isn't entirely sure what's going on with her but there is something unclear in her mind.
A second round passes (as previously stated by Onjatan, barring something else happening he will open the door after 2 rounds) during which... Onjatan continues to sense unclear muddled thoughts/emotions coming from Araga.
Onjatan opens the door. Araga is not immediately visible through the open doorway. Fog fills the room so only the 5' square immediately in front of the pathfinders can be seen.
Initiative is rolled.
Yanda and Onjatan can act. Yanda has her acid flask back. Araga cannot be seen (at least from your current position) but from Onjatan's empathic link you know that she is still alive and still has abnormal thoughts/emotions at present.

"S o m e t h i n g . h a p p e n e d .. I m m e d i a t e .. M e n t a l .."
No creatures nearby on the ground or this wall. Stealth was unhelpful. A trap? Gaze, maybe, or a ghost.
Onjatan pulls out a pair of smoked goggles and snaps them on. He then holds his breath, steps into the room, and looks up to where Araga should be.
Tremorsense didn't go off, so there shouldn't be anyone in the immediate vicinity unless they moved in (barring extremely special cases.) No delay, so either it was an AoE or someone got very lucky to spot Araga in time and won initiative (or were themselves stealthed). The most-likely candidates would be either a gaze-type situation (or a hypnotic pattern, or the like) or a trap. Can't do anything about a trap, but weird mist he might be able to help mitigate. Unsure if Araga's moved away in the last round, but Onjatan knows where she would have been aiming to emerge.

I need two Will saves from Onjatan.
Saves are +1 vs mind-affecting spell (or +2 if from a psychic source), +2 vs curse. +8 vs any attack a blind creature would be immune to. Already includes his aura bonus. Assuming this effect doesn't have an elemental descriptor.
