About Michel BellamyNAME Michel Bellamy
The 10 Minute Background which did not really take 10 minutes:
Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged! 1. French, born in Gascony farmlands. Orphaned at just a year old to the Battle of Castillion which destroyed his parents' farmland. Rescued by a Tengu At'a'Jutsu Master named Klah Nakai and taken along with two other orphans he rescued after or during the conflict. 2. Nakai’s school is an attache to Sumela Monastery and Michel and the other children are raised as monks as a front. The monks house Klah Nakai and his students as a favor owed to Nakai.
3. Despite his ascetic lifestyle and rigid training schedule, Michel is not particularly reverent. Crass even. Wise in some ways, but arrogant and conceited in dealing with people. 4. Michel stands tall at six foot four inches, and weighs about twelve stone, cutting an impressively lean figure despite his dense musculature. As a student of At’a’jutsu, Michel must be as swift as he is strong. 5. Nakai chose the name Michel after the Archangel Michael, who Nakai views as the Warrior, based on his understanding of Christian Theology. He also chose the name because of its ubiquity in the region so the boy could fit in. Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
1. Michel wants to prove himself as Nakai's greatest student. He will constantly try to one-up his comrades at anything that could be construed as a contest. 2. I'm hoping to see Klah Nakai developed as an important NPC as he will try to get involved in local politics in order to curry favors and gain a hand in directing the course of history. Nakai's agendas should be mysterious, and Michel should be bewildered for good or for worse as he discovers just how deep this rabbit hole goes. 3. I want see him develop loyalties to his fellow party members which will strain his relationship with his Teacher. Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!
1. (Known) Michel poses as a devout monk in Otlukbeli, despite not caring about religion one way or another. He knows God exists, and Michel pays his due in prayer, but his real loyalty is to Nakai, not to some invisible God. Miracles or no. 2. (Unknown) Michel is aware that Nakai is in contact with powerful people, but he isn’t aware of the extent of Nakai’s network. In addition to being a skilled martial artist, Nakai is the shadow operator of a network which buys and sells spies, assassins and other mercenaries, making himself as many enemies as he has friends. 3. GM Secret! Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.
1. Klah Nakai: A black feathered Tengu Monk of ambiguous ambitions. Obviously the most important character in Michel’s life, his teacher, his father, the man is everything to Michel. 2. Moussa ibn Tariq al-Fulan: A Turkish Dwarf and a Christian Monk in Otlukbeli. Moussa is in league with Nakai and has agreed to act as Michel’s handler. 3. Emeline Leroy: Michel’s closest friend among the students. Emeline has been like an older sister to Michel and is the oldest of Nakai’s students. She was also orphaned by the battle of Castillon. She has been a bit jealous of Michel’s position as the favorite, though despite his generally sound judgement, Michel has no idea. I’m picturing her with ninja levels, if that’s fine. Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.
1. Though he keeps his face clean shaven, the auburn, almost red, hair on Michel’s head and his bright green eyes make him somewhat exotic in Turkey, even among other European humans in the region.

In addition, a monk gains a +1 bonus to AC and CMD at 4th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every four monk levels thereafter, up to a maximum of +5 at 20th level. These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is flat-footed. He loses these bonuses when he is immobilized or helpless, when he wears any armor, when he carries a shield, or when he carries a medium or heavy load. Flurry of Blows At 1st level, a monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action. When making a flurry of blows, the monk can make one additional attack at his highest base attack bonus. This additional attack stacks with the bonus attacks from haste and other similar effects. When using this ability, the monk can make these attacks with any combination of his unarmed strikes and weapons that have the monk special weapon quality. He takes no penalty for using multiple weapons when making a flurry of blows, but he does not gain any additional attacks beyond what's already granted by the flurry for doing so. (He can still gain additional attacks from a high base attack bonus, from this ability, and from haste and similar effects). |
