Karinna quickly stabs the wand-bearer.

Attack (rapier), Piranha Strike: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 - 1 = 17
Damage (piercing), Piranha Strike: 1d6 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) - 1 + 2 = 6

You wound him, but not gravely.

Karinna also wounds him!

"Do you see? You can threaten us all you want, but you cannot escape your role to play. You can only chose whether or not to embrace it." The postulating elf points a finger at him menacingly.

Readying an action to cast magic missile when he begins casting, hoping to disrupt the concentration with damage.

If the enemy casts...:
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Cleric 1 | HP: 13/13 | A: 18 T: 11 F: 17 (+4 Dodge v Giant) | CMB/D: 5/13 (+4 V Bull Rush/Trip) | F: +5, R: +1, W: +6 (+2 PSN, Spells & Spell-Like Abilities) | Init: +1 | Perc: +4 (+6 Stonecunning) | Darkvision 60 Ft Dwarf | CLW Wand 50/50

Thoric doesn't need much to act on what his gut was already telling him. Rushing up to Daranil's friend the dwarf swings his waraxe... yet it comes up short. (pun intended)

Dwarven Waraxe Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Dwarven Waraxe DMG: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Bonded Investigator 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 19/15/15 | CMB/D: -2/12 | F: +2, R: +6, W: +2 | Init: +4 | Perc: +6/+7 for traps Darkvision | Inspiration: 2/5

Azig steps in to the doorway. "Drop the wand and any other weapons unless you want to die! This is your only chance to surrender and not suffer the fate of your master!"

Intimidate: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9 Perfect roll for the very much NOT intimidating ratfolk!

** spoiler omitted **

You cast magic missile, killing him.

This is after Azig tries to intimidate him. Although Thoric was surprised that Yargin avoided his attack so easily.

Bonded Investigator 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 19/15/15 | CMB/D: -2/12 | F: +2, R: +6, W: +2 | Init: +4 | Perc: +6/+7 for traps Darkvision | Inspiration: 2/5

Azig strolls in then, poking at the body on the ground with his little rapier. "Huh. Looks like you called it right Daranil. Pull the curtain on this one."

He picks up the wand and tosses it to the mage. "Is this magic or just a stick to intimidate folk?" Then he searches the body and the area around it.

Perception?: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (6) = 17 Adding inspiration

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Azig, you find a locked chest. But Yargin had the key.

Azig looks the chest over. "Hey Daranil. Is that putz the kind that would keep a trapped chest? Or would he trust keeping it hidden and locked?"

Perception to find traps?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

If he doesn't find any traps:

He uses the key to open the chest.

If he finds a trap he tries to disarm it. Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

And he'll show whatever he finds to the group.

Daranil catches the wand, but his eyes remain on the fallen form of his old teacher. The elf walks with a spring in his step to examine the remains. The angle of his fall. The tasteful splaying of his hair. The way his clothing billows around the body.

Artistry (Forensics): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

"Ahh, it was almost too easy. To be laid low by such a simple casting... of..." and his eyes narrow. He leans in close. Though he is unhappy to disturb his work so soon, he simply must know the deed is truly done. Daranil gently runs his fingers along the cheek and under the chin of his mentor's body.

He half expects his hand to pass through an illusion.

Male Halfling Cleric 1 [HP 9/9 | AC:19 | T:15 | FF:15 | CMB: -1 | CMD:13 | Fort:+4 | Ref:+5 | Will:+6 | Init:+4 | Perc: +5 (+7 in dim/darkness) | Speed 40]

Lem stands up from behind his crate. "Wow, that was quick." He joins Daranil over at the body to start rummaging through the corpse's pockets. "What does this guy have to do with Lamm?"

You do find a trap, it's a needle trap. You didn't disable it, apparently.

Assuming by the post that I didn't set it off so can try again?

Worried that the trap could be dangerous Azig studies it again before trying. "Yes... A needle. Maybe poison? I don't think I like this putz! Good thing he's dead!"

Try again!?!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 "Ouch!"

Fort Save if needed?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

You set off the trap. You get a needle in your hand, and it dispenses a powerful halucinogenic. You are under the same effects as the confusion spell for 6 rounds.

Seeing the wand tossed to Daranil intrigues the dwarf. Curious if the magic is from the gods, Thoric cast Detect Magic to get a glimpse of the school.

Hearing the trap trigger and an ouch from Azig, Thoric moves to aid his new companion of his wound. He says a little prayer as he cast Virture on the rat kin.

Thoric's Detect Magic:
The school of the wand is invocation.
