I am looking for interest in playing a Strange campaign.
The basics will be a published adventure, but I will change some of the recursions to a homebrew version.
I have the following guidelines:
- post once per day
- looking for 4 players
- all characters start on Earth as human as a Spinner, Vector or Paradox. Character creation per the core rulebook, including class, descriptor, focus and possessions.
- PCs will, of course be quickened, and will be new "recruits" to the Estate.
- I would like some sort of background concept. It doesn't have to be detailed or even fully fleshed out, just something to give us some ideas to work with.
Once PCs are created we will work out the "connections" part of each PC to link everyone in some fashion.
Please let me know if you are interested!

I was not planning to use any Numenera foci. Just the Earth foci in the core book.
I would say that a Numenera recursion is certainly possible, which gives a chance for using those foci.
AND, it doesn't look so good from an interest point of view, so this is likely moot (in which case I will look to start a different campaign in a few days).

Feel free to post an introduction in the gameplay tab.
That is an advantage of pbp. I think that this will be a bit different as the players make all the rolls; we will have to see how that goes.
Intrusions might be tricky too.
I ran the game 3 times; twice prepping for GenCon and once at GenCon14.
But I have run Numenera a few times more.
And I like the Strange better but I am not sure if that is a universal belief among the players.

Hello, its Black Shadow. Here is my character. A Graceful Spinner who Operates Undercover. Basically built her to be a fast type character good at breaking into places and mildly athletic. I was interested in trading one of my twists for the Sabotage Jack ability so I could get some lockpicking skills though.

I am hoping to trade out my Spin Identity for the Sabotage (Jack Ability) from Numernera. My character is going to be an intrusion expert and I am looking to have training in picking locks and disabling devices (Such as Security Systems, Traps and/or Cyphers/Artifacts). Unfortunately there is not an archetype that fits this kind of character. The closest equivalent is the Spinner but even then most of their abilities are Social based. As for the Sabotage ability, it is out of the Character Options book for Numenera.
Sabotage: You are particularly good at bypassing locks and dismantling devices. You are trained in Lockpicking, the Numenera and any task involving sabotaging and object.
This should be easily translated into The Strange, just replacing "Numenera" with "Cyphers/Artifacts" and it should work ok.

My character was a professional thief before she was quickened. Decided to take Graceful instead of Stealthy as I wanted to be somewhat acrobatic and balanced on her feet as well as get the Trained in Speed Defense so I can dodge stuff. Besides I could probably use Careful Movement as a skill to sneak around anyway and there is always effort if I require it and I can probably take the stealth skill at a later advancement.

Well, if you'll have me, here's Vanessa Evans. Vanessa is a Sharp-Eyed Paradox that Solves Mysteries.
The basic idea I have for a back story is that she was a detective or investigator of some sort. She used her Paradox abilities to help with her investigating. She was so renowned that she garnered the attention of The Estate.

Wow. Suddenly I have interest.
So - some points of interest.
As stated above, you will be on Earth to start. You are 'quickened' individuals recently recruited by the Estate and have just arrived at their Headquarters Campus for initial training.
@ Seth86 - that is a build for a RUK character, so no go. Must be an Earth foci.
Also, I really only need 3 players. Ollie has one spot as the fellow brave enough to re-open conversation.
So two more.
And in the interest of full disclosure, I have a fourth on the line who may want to try it; if so, they are also "in" because I have known them for years.
@ Tanya - I think we can work out the swap for the lockpicking skill. Let me do some more research on the topic when I get to my books.
Thanks for all the interest.

Keith S. |

@ Tanya - I am good with swapping out spin identity with sabotage.
Since Seth86 is not ready to go, I am dropping him off and moving with the 3 valid players.
That makes the party:
Ollie, a brash spinner who works the system on Earth.
Tanya, a graceful spinner who operates undercover on Earth.
Vanessa Evans, a sharp eyed paradox who solves mysteries on Earth.
Please check out the discussion tab and introduce yourself in the gameplay tab and we will begin rolling (so to speak).
Seth86 - thanks for your interest, and I will keep you in mind as a back up.
