Andros Firewind |

"Yes, that pit does appear like it would be a bit of a problem. Also, it usually helps if you don't wallow around in goo while fighting; it tends to limit your ability to move." Andros remains watchful to see if the strange man's words are truthful, but they seem legitimate enough. He also seems very good at stating the obvious.

As Booj turns from his tower-top discourse with those still on the ground below, he is surprised to see three of the little creatures had snuck up the stairs and are now rushing at him. They come up one at a time, the first being at the top as Booj turns strikes then dances back away from the goblin. Booj easily dodging the thrust of its spear. The next glides up the stairs to the top, swings its short sword at Booj, who barely deflects it. The last, however, manages to catch Booj on the return from the other's swing, and slashes into the goblin's thigh with his blade, but leaving only a moderate cut. The last two, after their swings, each take a position east and west of the stairwell.
KQ1 attacks Booj 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14 vs AC, shifts to I7
KQ2 attacks Booj 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27 vs AC, damage 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8, shifts to I9.
I have Booj at H8, and Andros at A5

Booj |

Cool, thanks. Bloodied. Five Storms vs Q1, Q2 Ref
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Crit on Q1 for 12, probably miss Q2. Flurry of Blows for 5 more vs Q1 if it's still standing, vs Q2 if Q1 has fallen.
Minor to pull garrote out.
Shift, direction depending on Q1's fate, but really don't want to get flanked again if I can make that harder.
Booj squeaks loudly at the surprise and the blow, and hammers at one of the kobolds by instinctive reaction. Realizing he might have to change tactics, the little slave pulls a leather cord from his rags. "More lizards, Boss!" he shouts.
HP 10/25, 7/8 surges, 0 AP

Aardvark DM |

The sounds of combat can be heard above as Booj cries out in pain before becoming his usual wildly flailing mass of limbs. He swings out at the creatures assembled against him, but only one of his swings connect, followed by a bite to the creature's arm. He moves closer to the thing, putting his back against the side of the battlements, hoping to become as small of a target as possible. The kobold itself spits blood from its mouth where some teeth were knocked out, and looks with surprise at the bloody marks the little goblin left in it's arm.

Booj - Five storms against Q1 and Q2, bloodies Q1

Yuriel Gard |

The sound of renewed combat rings out from the top of the tower, and Yuriel redoubles his attempts to get free. 1d20 ⇒ 16
Hurrah and at last!
"Hold strong, small one. We'll be up there soon. And we will attempt rescue before vengeance is required!" Yuriel calls as the water elf considers his route to Booj's side.

Aardvark DM |

Yuriel gets up and rams the door, leading with his shield. He busts most of what's left of the door, leaving only the solid bar on the other side in place as if it continues to try and block entry. Fairly easily bypassed, but still interposing, the bar hangs across the dorr still. Insdie, the tower's ground floor is smelly and filtht, strewn with the straw and canvas mats that surely make up the sleeping arrangements of the building's keepers. The center of the room is dominated by a simple, spiral, stone staircase. Railless, it rises up through the center of the room, fifteen feet up to the floor above.
The bar can be passed as a double move, or someone could spend the action to finish breaking it completely. For the stairs, each square is difficult terrain. The stairs are 3 squares high (so 6 squares of movement to get to the next floor, 12 to the roof).

Kobold Q - Q1 attacks Booj, misses, Q2 attacks Booj, hits
Booj - Five storms against Q1 and Q2, bloodies Q1
Yuriel - Stood, shield bashed the door.

Aardvark DM |

Andros approaches, peering into the darkened depths of the tower's base floor, noting only the crude and filthy furnishings. Armand approaches the base of the tower, firing bolts again into the fray, yet only striking the already battered stone above.
Kobold T - Attacks Booj, misses
Kobold Q - Q1 attacks Booj, misses, Q2 attacks Booj, hits
Booj - Five storms against Q1 and Q2, bloodies Q1
Yuriel - Stood, shield bashed the door.
Andros - Approached the tower door, to end in H7
Armand - Used Lightning Strike, missed

The bar can be passed as a double move, or someone could spend the action to finish breaking it completely. For the stairs, each square is difficult terrain. The stairs are 3 squares high (so 6 squares of movement to get to the next floor, 12 to the roof).
Jacen expertly limbos under the bar into the tower, and runs up the stairs.
I double move past the bar into the tower. Use my Action Point to run 7 squares up to the next floor. Am I within range of Booj to use Healing Word, and have line of effect?

Am I within range of Booj to use Healing Word, and have line of effect?
You can be either on the tower top (in the middle of the enemies), or 1 square down the stairs (in the middle of the enemies, but with cover) and heal Booj.

Jacen Ramirez |

You can be either on the tower top (in the middle of the enemies), or 1 square down the stairs (in the middle of the enemies, but with cover) and heal Booj.
I will pick the first option.
Jacen knows that Kavast values loyalty and courage above all, so with faith in his god, the cleric joins friend Booj on the tower top.
Healing Word
Booj can spend a surge to heal surge value + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.

Aardvark DM |

At the inclusion of the new target at the top of the stairs kobolds seem to be entertained, laughing with a guttural hiss. One of them simply strikes out at Jacen, but the other two begin spinning and twirling in an almost primitive dance. Their blades sway and move, making it difficult to tell when or where they will strike. As the dance comes to an end, they look to be exactly where they started from. For all its bluster, however, it was for naught, as not one strike found home on the priest. Kavast must truly be favoring the cleric's decision to stand on his faith in the midst of the foe.
KQ1 attacks Jacen 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11 vs AC
KQ2 attacks Jacen 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10 vs AC

Aardvark DM |

Yes, I was having problems with my map, and forgot to update the turn counter. Jacen is standing in the middle of the tower map, on the stairs square.

Booj |

Booj sidesteps to line up with the kobold he has bloodied, then charges at it, arms windmilling, in an attempt to push the lizard off the tower.
Cool. Shift to H8. Crane's Wings vs Q1 Fort
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
On hit, 12 damage. If that doesn't kill it, push (from the power) SW, trying to knock it off the tower.
Meanwhile, 7 damage to Q2 from Flurry.

Aardvark DM |

Booj's swings manage to connect with the creature, knocking it backward hard to hit the stone battlement before it falls limply over the side of the tower. Its unconscious form falls briefly before finding its end at the base of the tower.
Andros - Approached the tower door, to end in H7
Armand - Used Lightning Strike, missed
Jacen -
Kobold T - Attacks Jacen, misses
Kobold Q - Both attack Jacen, miss
Booj - Crane's wings against Q1 and flurry vs Q2, kills Q1

Yuriel Gard |

Yuriel cheers loudly as his companions above send a kobold corpse crashing lifelessly to the ground. He removes the final impediment, bursting through the bar, then starts his ascent of the tower.
Don't think I can make it to the top even with an action point, so will stay half way up. Any doors or anything else interesting on the way up? Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9. Any roll needed to remove the bar?

Aardvark DM |

The bar has 1 hp left, so any attack will remove it. Also, since the stairs are difficult terrain, you can use your swiftcurrent to flow up them at normal speed. In fact, if you swiftcurrent and double move, you can get to any square on the rooftop safely.
Andros, you're up

Aardvark DM |

Yuriel makes his way into the tower behind Jacen, moving with a fluid grace up the steps toward the action on top. Andros, willing to lend aid in their endeavor, decides that sometimes a little goes a long way, as he draws his weapon and smashes what's left of the obstacle of the bar across the doorway. If nothing else this will allow himself, and the one that seems to have some manner of control over the very lightning, Armand was his name, easier entrance into the confines of the tower if they so choose.
Yuriel, will you be using swiftcurrent to reach the top, if so, where do you end your move?
Jacen -
Kobold T - Attacks Jacen, misses
Kobold Q - Both attack Jacen, miss
Booj - Crane's wings against Q1 and flurry vs Q2, kills Q1
Yuriel - Moved into the tower up the stairs.
Andros - Removed the last of the bar across the door.

Armand Duvallier |

"An most excellent solution."
Armand doffs his hat at the newcomer and advances into the tower.
"The power of Chalyse shall incinerate you, small lizards," he announces, possibly with more optimism than accuracy.
Get as far inside as he can and fire Acid Orb at whatever is in range.
Acid Orb (Ref)
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Acid rages from his dagger towards the nearest kobold.

Jacen Ramirez |

Having heard Armand's announcement, Jacen makes room on the crowded tower by shifting to J7.
Jacen concentrates on the kobold in front of him.
Invigorating Assault

Aardvark DM |

Sorry, Armand, you are too far down on the spiral stairway to be able to see any target up above. I'd be willing to let you keep the attack roll and not move, or move and not be able to have a target.
Jacen steps aside to allow his comrades to enter the fight, while slashing effectively with his blade. His blade, swept in a backhanded side swing, catches the creature just at the nape of its neck. The cut draws a thin line, which quickly expands to reveal a cut halfway through as the kobold crumples into an expanding pool of its own lifeblood.
The last remaining kobold sees the ever-growing population of opponents on the tower top, and decides he needs to make a break for it. He dances slinkily to the stairs, decides that he can't get past the Sea elf on the stairs, and twirls over to the edge of the tower and leaps toward the closest tree. It makes it just far enough to grab at the base. He instead smacks into a branch and tumbles down the rest of the way. The bruise given to the kobold by Booj's last swing was painful, but after bouncing from each branch before crumpling to the ground, was the deadly result of a risky attempt at escape.
Athletics jump 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Athletics Grab 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Fall damage 3d10 ⇒ (10, 10, 2) = 22

Aardvark DM |

Armand struck the kobold before Jacen killed the other, and before the last one jumped. There is no sign of any other kobolds.

Yuriel Gard |

Yuriel sighs slightly as the others pass him heading back down the stairs, then turns to join them at the base of the tower.
He sits, back to the wall, and starts cleaning kobold goo from his scale armor, and from his face and hands. Occasionally he looks up at the group, but for now says nothing.
Is there a prize for least effective combatant? I think my one contribution was to (half) break down the door, after hanging immobilized in goo for about 5 rounds. Yuriel are now depressed :)

Jacen Ramirez |

Jacen leaves the looting to Booj. He wipes his blade on the sleeve of one of the kobolds before descending the tower. He reassures the dejected Yuriel with a pat on the shoulder.
Don't feel bad, the good thing about being a defender is that you're already doing your job just by getting in their faces. And less pots being flung at the rest of the team, the better.
