Aardvark's Fog of War Campaign (4E) (Inactive)

Game Master Troy Malovich

A 4E homebrew campaign set in the war-torn nations of the Mysk Islands. The characters find themselves amongst the forces, deciding who or what it is they are fighting for or against.

I've been gobbling up PbP content, and am eager to run my first one. I was waiting until I was comfortable with my mapping tool.

I will be using my homebrew world/history/gods, and will be adding information to my profile until most of the basics are covered.

I am a fairly rules-lawyer GM, but at least that means I know them pretty well. Whenever there is a house rule it will be posted, and there are not a lot, some are purely flavor rules, no mechanics (i.e. Eladrin are called True Elves).

The character creation rules will be in my profile. I am looking for 4 or 5 players, who are willing/able to post/respond fairly regularly (from poss multiple daily to at least one every other day).

Please, feel free to ask if you have any questions.

EDIT: No Essentials classes, both not familiar enough with them and don't think they work well side-by side with non-essentials from what I've seen.

EDIT: Starting at 1st level, semi-sandbox style game.

Hey! I have a few questions. :)

I'm interested, though I'll be out of town this weekend. Would you consider letting me join if I wrote up a backstory tonight/tomorrow morning?

My absolute favorite character to play is a kobold sorcerer I have. Depending on the setting, I can change her backstory to suit the campaign, but I'd like to know if there are any changes in your setting for kobolds, such as how they act, their relationship with dragons, ect. If you'd rather I made a different character though, I'm fine with that too, though I'd love a chance to get my sorcerer to work.

Finally, I've only played 4th edition a few times, but I'm more than willing to become familiar with the rules for this game. If you don't mind a newish player, then let me know. Thank you!

It could be played, but Bluff might be a vital skill for you. Arcane power is controlled by the Church of the goddess of magic. Unregulated casters are illegal (as are Psionics) and generally mistrusted.

Also, being a kobold would be looked down on by most of the society, which would consider you almost vermin.

So a good disguise would be very useful.

As far as they as a race, are pretty much by the book. Dragons are fairly uncommon.

I always welcome new players, anything that expands the hobby.

EDIT: Ideally it will be a political/military campaign. Yet will not be courtly intrigue/army rank and file/large scale combat. Kind of like a small team of operatives, discovering things while the war is merely the backdrop.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll hold off on the kobold then, since a character with -two- difficult factors seems a bit much, especially in a military setting.

I'll see if I can't think up something else, possibly a human cleric. I'll keep refreshing your profile for ideas.

Certainly interested. Possibly a superstitious ranger from Vin-Oslia. I'm ridiculously busy til this evening, but can start getting something together then.

I'd love to play. My mind is turning to a straight-up soldier, either a defender or a leader role. Military trained, but independently minded and now on detached duty. From somewhere like the Naltanic Empire or Pelarius, depending on where makes sense for the campaign. He's a worshipper of Graf, but not a cleric... not even very devout except in severe trouble.

I can post a few times most days depending on how work is going. I'm already playing in heathy's carrion crown and waiting in the village in Face the Fire, and it'll be great to have another game on the go.

So having posted i'll go look at the character creation guide :)

Rosey and Art, glad to have you.

Acidrica, you can still play the Kobold. Bluff is a Sorc skill, and a Cha class will have a decent score. With an average check, any but the most observant will prob mistake you for a goblin.

Okay I have the discussion thread started HERE

I'm game. Looking at playing a churlish Half-Orc Seeker (recon scout).

Welcome aboard, Ralif. Jump into the discussion thread for further information.

Still looking for 1 or 2 more players for this campaign.

Actually, Half-Orc does not work particularly well. Changing to Human w/ choose 2 stats +2 - lose extra skill. Will post character later tonight.

I'm interested.

Xabulba, go ahead and throw together a character and post it up in the discussion thread. With you that will be 6, or 5 depending on if Acidrica is still playing or not.

Acidrica, are you still interested in playing? We can start as soon as you get your character posted.

Otherwise, we may still need a leader before we start.

I'd be interested to join as a stand-by player running a Minotaur Runepriest hailing from Evo Pezar.

Do you allow Scales of War backgrounds (specifically Auspicious Birth)?

PR, go ahead and throw together a character, if I don't hear from Acidrica, you're in and we can start.

As far as the scales of war, as long as the background fits (and I'm pretty loose on what fits unless it belongs to another campaign world), then I'm fine with it.

The Auspicious Birth specifically, I have no issue with the ability of it. It could be almost better than toughness up through paragon, at the extreme range, or just 3-4 pts. The thing I'm not sure of is the fluff of it, I'm not a fan of prophetic/destiny characters. If you can reflavor it for your background that somehow the score you will swap it for has a reason to replace your Con.

For example, if you will use Str instead, you managed to fight off a childhood illness by forcing yourself to overwork your muscles to purge your system... blah, blah, blah. Something like that.

Aardvark,

Do you still have room for one more or are you full up? I can fill any needed gaps in the party, but would prefer to play a leader type if you have need of one.

Regards,

Hyde

Hyderlic,

We just started and I have no problem adding in one more. I was about to run with 7 anyways, but one player had to drop out.

Post a character in the discussion thread (there's a link about 12 posts up). All the world/house rules are under my profile.
