This is the discussion thread. Feel free to chat here about whatever. Please use this thread for any OOC chatter not directly related to the current in-game scene.
If you have a question you can ask it here also.
I will run initiative in blocks, meaning whoever rolls highest for the party will set the whole party's initiative for the combat. Then the party's actions will occur in posting order. Meaning if you want to go after someone make sure you say so, but that you don't need to wait on anyone else to post your actions.
I will also put the monster's basic stats in a spoiler in my profile so that you can resolve your own actions. This means you roll saves for the monster against your spells, roll it's AOOs on yourself, roll versus it's concealment/SR/whatever yourself. This makes my life mucb easier at round summary time and generally yours as well because you can write an accurate description of your whole action.
Please format your posts as follows:
Jackson the devilbear walks into the bar shouting, "I've got hairy feet!" That guy's lookin' at me funny. He reaches over to a nearby table, and picks up a tankard of ale before throwing it into the complete stranger's face.

Any OOC stuff here
For combat, like this:
Move action; Grab tankard.
Standard action; throw it at bardweller #3
Face tankard (power attack, bless, whatever buffs/penalties): 1d20 + 9999 ⇒ (13) + 9999 = 10012
Damage: 1d4 - 50 ⇒ (3) - 50 = -47

That's third person, present tense (unless flashing back) narrative. Speech should be bolded, inner thoughts italicized.

Glad to be starting. I'll recheck my possession list and background before my first gameplay post.
I don't think I've rolled saves for monsters or AOOs on myself, but I can see how that would speed combat along. I'll do my best.

My character's updated to the revised version of the class.
Change log
Arcane pool dropped from 15 to 10 point maximum.
Counterspell now requires a slot higher than the spell being cast, instead of just one equal.
Spell Tinker was split into two exploits. The duration +/-50% is still called Spell Tinker, and the suppression was made into Spell Disruption. I've taken Spell Disruption.
I also fixed an error that was not a part of revision: Expeditious Excavation is not affected by Spell Focus (Conjuration) since it's transmutation, not conjuration. I thought of it basically as "Lesser Create Pit", which was incorrect.
Also did the game stall? What happened?

Shigeru |

I am in five other campaigns with Jelani, and he hasn't posted lately on them, either. However, do not worry, he'll be back, unless something catastrophic has happened - hopefully that isn't the case.
In fact, I think he's had one campaign going on for a few years now (Not one I'm in) - so he has a good track record. One that I'm in with him will have been going on for a year this upcoming February/March.
I'll poke him tomorrow if he hasn't posted - waiting for him to post in one of the campaigns I'm GMing as well.

Sorry guys, Wednesday-Saturday morning is brutal for me. As I said in recruitment, I might only get to update this once or twice a week. Please bear with me.
In other news, please make sure your characters reflect the new versions of the classes in the new playtest document, like Tara did. You can just redownload it from your downloads.
Edit:It's only tuesday morning for me right now, but I woke up late have a lot of games to attend to and homework to do. Work in an hour also. >_<

Iriel Lasslanta |

Question: there is now a revised playtest document. Would it be possible/allowable to update our characters to the revised versions?
Iriel wouldn't change much but the durations of animal aspect would increase and she could share the ability with her animal companion.
There are also new teamwork feats she could use.

Iriel Lasslanta |

Sorry, I totally did not see that somehow. I've updated sheet.
The main notable changes, beyond updating the Animal Focus ability, as I've switched her teamwork feat to Coordinated Shot (she can switch out her feats anyway).
If I may, I will say that the active Animal Focus ability on the animal companion is the Snake (+2 to AOOs and +2 dodge to AC versus AOOs).

DM Jelani |

That's fine Iriel.
Tara - The create pit spell should be 30' deep 10' deep base, plus 20' for you being level 5. Also if you end your turn on the edge you need to make a reflex save or fall in. Don't forget to add +1 for higher ground when shooting down into the pit also.
So roll another d6 damage on all of them, and either change your action or give me a reflex save.
I might not have time for an update post until the weekend guys, just as a heads up.

Shigeru |

Hey guys, sorry about my absense! I had stuff get in the way IRL that prevented me from hopping on. I hope I didn't cause too many delays >.<
I'm going to be reviewing what I missed and I'll see if I can get a post up either tonight or early tomorrow. Sorry again for not giving you guys a heads up!

Tara Firma |

Letting you know, I will be out of town, and unable to access the internet until the 6th of January. Feel free to control as needed in combat, otherwise assume she follows everyone else. Thanks.

Iriel Lasslanta |

I have to say, I am really not cool with the GMPC railroading us into combat.
I will go along for now, but if it's going to be that kind of campaign that's utterly on railroad tracks and the GMPC steers the party in a totally different direction from where the PCs want to go, then I am going to bow out. I truly appreciate Jelani's taking the time to run this, but if that's how it's going to be, then both the campaign is not well suited to my playstyle and I am not well suited to be a player in such a campaign.

DM Jelani |

It's a PFS scenario. It's meant to be played out in 4 hours of real time, to be suitable for convention play. It's definitely a railroad and you were about to go off it and essentially end the module. The result of getting the guard would be them asking who you are, why you're in Kaer Maga, why you entered Colligardie's house and then, even if you produced satisfactory answers for those questions, you would have blown your cover as Pathfinders. The scenario is written so that to get the next clue you either have to talk down these thugs (despite them attacking as soon as they hear you), capture and interrogate one, or kill them and find a note on their bodies. If Chidubem hadn't gone in, they would have "heard you talking" and all attacked Zarboluket. Also, it's what Chidubem would have actually done.
If you don't enjoy railroady play, then you should avoid PFS scenarios all together. 90% of them are 3-5 encounter strings with a little bit of plot skirting.
I'm fine with stopping this if that's what you guys want. The rate of posting tells me that people aren't really into it anyway.

Iriel Lasslanta |

Well, my key interest in this game was as a playtest of the ACG -- I had no problem for purposes of playtesting of following along the rails since the point was to just have some fights and see how everyone performed.
Since the playtest is over and there is therefore no other reason to play along except for the story, I guess I assumed there was more leeway to roleplay.
I do agree the post rate is slow and I'm not sure we've got everyone with us. Perhaps it would be best to stop it where it is.
Again, do not get me wrong--I am very appreciative of your taking the time to set this up and get this running. The playtest itself went too fast and was poorly timed for a lot of people to be able to participate.

DM Jelani |

Yeah, I agree. It hit right at the holidays, when posting drops off drastically. Many of my games that were going strong for almost a year have basically died from slowness over the holidays. Frustrating, but that's the way it is.
Since I just started DMing a new game, I'm going to go ahead and close this one. Thanks everyone for participating, hope you got some idea of how your chosen playtest class works in actual play. Good luck to all, and hope to see you around on the boards!
