Roidira smiles and exhales, as if a burden has
been lifted. “So, you claim understanding. You have mastered
the ways of the tongue, now let us test the deepest rafters of
your mind.”
“Now you may drink from this fountain of enlightenment,” she
says, as she gestures to the pool beneath her feet. “Sup on the
knowledge that shall shatter all you hold dear,” she says, with a
strange edge of intensity. “All of you, step forth.”
If you choose to drink, indicate below.
Mercutio Menschjaeger |
Mercutio pulls a small, fragile snifter seemingly out of nowhere, and scoops up the contents of the pool. He eyes, swirls, and sniffs like a practiced connoisseur for a moment before speaking to it:
"Hello, Oblivion! How are the wife and children? *gulp!*"
Anibal Ibarr |
Skeptical, but intrigued - Anibal steps forward, unhooks his cup from his belt, and reconsiders the act before dipping the container into the water. Once he does, he turns to the Pathfinders with the cup at chest level.
He smells the liquid and raises an eyebrow. "Well - you don't try it, you might regret it.", he says, gives the pathfinders a and takes a huge swig.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh |
"You all know that this woman seems to live in that water, right?" Abaal points out sagely, sword still in hand.
Abaal, dubious about drinking the unsanitary water, waits to see if anyone gets ill or dies first before even considering trying the water.
Tesson |
"An invitation to drink? I never refuse that!" says Tesson, staggering forward to take the liquid in his tankard and drink as much as he can.

All but Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh drink from the pool and receive a vison. PM's sent - A few might have been sent by my alias as I am doing this from my work computer and I don't have the plugin installed here...
Al-Sahba eagerly awaits news back at the temple. She is enjoying a late dinner with Meriwether as they arrive and bids you all to join them “as the first of many rewards for their hard work.”
You report to her all that happened...
“What unspeakable cruelty. I have no love for the Roidiran
faith, but surely her followers deserved better than losing their
goddess among a sea of riddles. Questions of divine philosophy
can be the most challenging questions we face. It is not
surprising that a divinity known for cloaking herself in secrets
would make such questions even more unapproachable. Yet,
I believe there is much to consider with what you have said.
Perhaps the paradox of Roidira’s nature could be understood
through the lens of other absences that we tend to give names.
It could be, in that sense, that as cold is the absence of heat,
ignorance is the absence of knowledge, and darkness is the
absence of light, Roidira represents the absence of something
else. While I have studied theology extensively, you have seen
more of Roidira’s nature than I have. No matter the faith, she
who experiences the touch of the divine becomes an authority
the wise should heed. What are your interpretations of what
you have witnessed?”
Do you reveal any of your visions? How?
Tesson |
Tesson scratches his head while drinking ale. By the time, you have become accustomed to the smell.
"Yeah, I think there is more to see than what ye used to. Life seems to be concieved as a cycle. I'd say life per se isn't vain for Roidira. It is just a part of another whole. And thus, less significant than some of us use to think it is." he looks around to see if anyone listens.
He then just loudly burps and says with a big grin:
"Just the booze talking I sayz."
Artic Fox |
She seems to not reveal what she has seen, as she herself doesnt completely believe what has transpired, though she does make a mention in passing
"one's road does not and should not have a destination, for the journey is what to seek"
before turning her attention to making sure her gear is clean, and prepared for what comes next
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh |
Al-Sahba eagerly awaits news back at the temple. She is enjoying a late dinner with Meriwether as they arrive and bids you all to join them “as the first of many rewards for their hard work.”
You report to her all that happened...
“....No matter the faith, she who experiences the touch of the divine becomes an authority the wise should heed. What are your interpretations of what you have witnessed?”
"Well," begins Abaal slowly. "In my vision, I witnessed five people drink used bath water. What the theological ramifications that are, I do not know."
Mercutio Menschjaeger |
Mercutio considers. "Perhaps...I am Roidira."
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"For all you know it could have been the fountain of youth." Benedict smirks.
Abaal looks dubiously at the paler members of the party.
Mercutio considers. "Perhaps...I am Roidira."
Abaal's hand does not move from the hilt of his blade.
GM Emmjay |
After digesting your words, and her plate of roast dire boar, she takes a deep breath and speaks again. “The satrap wished for me to find a way to discredit both the White Feather and the Roidiran cult. In truth, I am uneasy about treating both in the same way. If you were to have your say, How would you have me use the knowledge you uncovered at the shrine?”
Mercutio Menschjaeger |
Mercutio shrugs. His demeanor is uncharacteristically solemn. "I...see nothing wrong with Roidira. She is a humble and frank goddess. Perhaps that is the problem? Ordinary folk do not expect or wish for such...but would be their fault, not Hers."
A tiny smirk returns. "She is almost an anti-god."
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh |
Mercutio shrugs. His demeanor is uncharacteristically solemn. "I...see nothing wrong with Roidira. She is a humble and frank goddess...."
"And she lacks tentacles." Abaal interjects helpfully.
Mercutio Menschjaeger |
There goes Mercutio's eyebrow again.
"That is true. More's the pity."
GM Emmjay |
“Many would have doubts,” al-Sahba muses, “but doubt and confusion are like acid to a cult’s rigidity.” Al-Sahba is grateful for your input. After you finish their conversation with al-Sahba, she asks them to keep her signet ring as a sign of her patronage.
