Mendevian Crusade Re-Recruitment

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 111 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

I'm opening up recruitment for two (probably three) new crusaders. This is an ongoing game, where there are two groups existing in a shared world/timeline.

Queen Galfrey of Mendev, Sword of Iomedae, has called for a fifth and final Mendevian Crusade. An open call has been issued to any with strength and courage to make their way to Clydwell Keep near the city of Kenabres in order to join. She has decreed that anyone who can take and hold blighted lands long enough for a Wardstone to be erected there will be declared lord and master of those lands in perpetuity, under the authority of the crown of Mendev.

The two groups have been going for a while now, but have only managed to completely clear one hex of land. They are currently in somewhat of a race (unbeknownst to each other) to re-capture an old Hellknight fort called the Fort of the Nail.

This game is very combat heavy, wilderness exploration, with possible PVP between the two parties but not within each party. The fights are hard, and few punches are pulled.

The group you will be joining consists of a synthesist summoner (invincible flying tank, soon to be party airship), a barbarian and a fire-focused blaster sorcerer. There is also possibly a druid, but I don't know if he's still around.

Just fair warning; this game does have two groups sharing a timeline. The reason I lost the players was a long real-life delay due to the timeline becoming un-synchronized. This will only happen rarely (if ever) when the two parties are in the same location geographically, but not chronologically.

========================================================================

House Rules:
Commonplace Guns: While still expensive and tricky to wield, early firearms are readily available. Instead of requiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, all firearms are martial weapons. Early firearms and their ammunition cost 25% of the amounts listed in this book, but advanced firearms and their ammunition are still rare and cost the full price to purchase or craft.

Hero Points in effect.

Alignment:All mortals who lack a divine aura are considered neutral. People with divine auras (clerics, paladins) are an exception. All good gods have paladins, and a paladin's alignment matches its god's. A cleric's alignment must also match their gods. Outsiders and other supernatural beings may fall anywhere on the alignment spectrum. Morality will be fairly grey in my Golarion.

Character Creation:
Level: 7

Ability Scores:6d6 drop the lowest three or 20 point buy. You can reroll any score that ends up lower than 6 one time.

Races:Basically any Paizo, including custom races from ARG up to 11 RP (custom races need to be approved individually, exceptionally powerful normal races may also be vetoed. ie Drow Noble)

Classes:Any paizo on d20pfsrd.com, all archetypes available.

HP:Max at first, then 1/2+1

Traits:2 traits, standard rules apply

Starting Gold:Standard, 23,500 GP (no crafting anything other than potions, wands and scrolls)

To be considered you need to create an alias, have all the character's crunch in the alias in the standard statblock format (like a monster in the bestiary or like what herolab puts out). You should include enough background for characterization, I don't need a novel, but I want to know who they are. Bonus points for creativity. You should also include an appearance description.

I will approve characters once finished. If there are more than three approved applicants the group will choose from amongst them.

Here is the campaign for the group you'll be joining if you want to give it a look, and give the gameplay thread a read through.

bringing the post over

've been itching to play a cleric of Erastil,
i'll get back with a full character, lets see how the dice gods treat his servant, i'll come back with a full character

6d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 2, 5, 2) = 16
6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 3, 6, 1) = 22
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 1, 6, 4) = 21
6d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 4, 2, 5) = 22
6d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 4, 3, 6) = 28
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 6, 5, 2) = 24

still working on the cleric or Erastil (Aasimar garuda) scion of humanity
1 level paladin (divine hunter)/6 cleric, plant (growth)/animal (feather) domains

Str:18; Dex:19; Con 16; Int:14; Wis:18; Chr:11

Cool, you're probably better off switching your int and charisma. It would give you more channeling, and skill checks besides perception aren't called for very often in this game.

Okay, so I'm going to give this a go, though I don't know if it's breaking some sort of PbP etiquette if I'm in a couple of Jelani's games already...if so, just disregard. :-)

6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 5, 5, 5) = 27: 15
6d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 3, 6, 4) = 19: 13

6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 5, 6, 6) = 25: 17

6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 2, 4, 6) = 21: 13

Well, that's not bad...not bad at all.

Anyway, considering the wilderness theme, I'm considering a druid (menhir savant/animal (feather) domain) with a 1-level monk dip.

Str 17
Dex 15
Con 13
Int 13
Wis 18
Cha 11

Or a melee Oracle (probably life mystery, considering the need for healing).

Str 17
Dex 15
Con 13
Int 11
Wis 13
Cha 18

I'll see if I can throw something together.

Reposted as requested. I'm retasking a couple of aliases, and will post with each once the majority of their crunch (but not necessarily equipment purchasing, etc.) is done.

Can I ask what AP/source material you are using to produce the 5th Crusade? Sounds like something I would enjoy DMing for my group.

I would apply, but I don't believe I will have time. Unless Urzug doesn't join KMGM's Stolen Land game. Then I'll roll.

I'm making it all up from scratch. I mean, there's lots of Golarion in it, but the encounters maps etc are mine.

This looks interesting. I think I might read the gameplay thread and see if there is a niche I would like to fill...

Actually, let me roll one up, and I'll withdraw if I join the other.
6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 3, 1, 2) = 1612
6d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 6, 6, 6) = 2518
6d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 2, 4, 6) = 1713
6d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 6, 4, 6) = 2617
6d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6, 3, 5) = 2315
6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 2, 4, 2) = 1813
And that's the best I've ever rolled, I think.

I'm thinking Dwarf. Tower Shield Specialist.
STR 17 +1
DEX 12
CON 18 +2
INT 15
WIS 13 +2
CHA 13 -2

At this point I'm pretty sure we're down to two players. That means we've got four slots to fill. The for sure remaining players are the synthesist summoner (he's a tank, does haste, good damage, soon to be the party airship's engine once it's finished being built), and a sorcerer who likes to burn things.

They could use another beef cake, a full divine caster, something ranged, and a fifth wheel. I will point the players here to interact with you guys soon. If there are more than four applicants they will have a strong say in who gets selected.

Liberty's Edge

Interesting concept... it reminds me of Kingmaker with demons instead of bandits and such. :) Going to roll and see what I get as I muse about a potential character.

6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 4, 3, 4) = 19 => 12
6d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 2, 1, 1) = 19 => 15
6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 2, 6, 1) = 21 => 15
6d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 1, 4, 1) = 17 => 12
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 5, 4, 4) = 24 => 15
6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 6, 2, 2) = 21 => 15

Ugh, what an annoying array. Everything pretty average, nothing that I'm particularly good at. :/ Will have to think on this one a bit. Definitely want to come up with a character concept though, the campaign idea is too cool.

Indeed. I want to play so that I have a better idea at remaking it for my group.

Liberty's Edge

Alright! I have an (imo) awesome idea for a dwarven alchemist coming up. The "average" stats actually work out really well for it. As does the moral greyness... :D

Our characters could be cousins!

6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2, 5, 6) = 30=18
6d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 6, 2, 1) = 17=14
6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 4, 1, 5) = 22=16
6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 6, 5, 4) = 29=17
6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 3, 2, 3) = 20=14
6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 4, 2, 1) = 16=12

Wow, that's nice. I will have to come up with something good with that. I'd love to make a Dragon Disciple (big surprise I know) but it looks like you are all full up on bruisers. I will put some thought into it and post again.

Liberty's Edge

Adeptus, I would be happy to make our dwarves related, although I am not sure if your dwarf would like my dwarf... he's a very, very bitter man.

Oterisk? Making a dragon disciple?! What bizarro world is this? ;)

hey Jelani, so sad our arena game died, but this looks pretty cool, thinking of an Idea to submit. Are Tiefling, or Aasimar premited to take any of the variable abilities to replace the spell like ability?

stat rolls
6d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3, 5, 6) = 27=18
6d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 5, 4, 1) = 21=14

wow so lets see what to play

Revising the above rolls to:

1) 6d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5) = 14
2) 6d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5) = 13
3) 6d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) = 12

5) 6d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) = 16
6) 6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) = 11

Once we roll are we set with these stats, or can we decide to go with 20-point buy instead of going with what the dice decided? I'm fine either way :)

6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 3, 4, 1) = 20 = 15
6d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 3, 1, 1) = 18 = 13
6d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1, 5, 6) = 25 = 18
6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 6, 5, 2) = 26 = 17

6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 3, 6, 4) = 27 = 16

I have a cleric of Erastil in mind as well, as it is pretty much ready to roll, but I see other clerics... We'll see.

Does this include no crafting of firearm ammunition?

Here's what I have so far. Dropped Holy Gun due to redundancy for Holy Tactician. Still working on a background, that will take the most time.

Background
(UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

Appearance
A young human woman not far out of her teenage years. At just over five and a half feet tall with a thin build she does not have an intimidating presence. Liette's hair is snow white and cut short, but shaggy. Her eyes are a pale blue and skin is of fair complexion. She dresses in a rugged, utilitarian style that is juxtaposed against her delicate features oddly. A high-collared long jacket of supply gray and white leather is worn over a thigh-length shirt of fine mithral chain, dark breaches and tall riding boots. A pair of masterfully crafted revolvers are holstered beneath the jacket at her waist.

Personality
Liette is reactionary and boisterous, the first to speak up and loquacious to a point of overwhelming others with her personality. She is kind-hearted, despite her brash and loud nature.

She strives to help those in need, and is violently opposed to the presence of corruption and weak people abusing others to get ahead. Her adherence to a strict code of honor and righteousness can be used to manipulate her and play against her sympathies.

Ooh, if I remember correctly, I was interested in this last time you recruited, but didn't end up getting a good character around... Let's try again!

6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1) = 18
6d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 6, 5, 3) = 24
6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 6, 1, 2) = 22
6d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 6, 4, 6) = 27
6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 6, 3, 3) = 19
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 1, 6, 4) = 20

So that's... 14, 16, 17, 18, 12, and 16. In order, 18, 17, 16, 16, 14, 12. Very nice stats, that... I shall be constructing something post-haste.

Quick question... You state that Paladins can be of any alignment that's good. Could one potentially create an Anti-paladin of a non-chaotic evil nature? I've wanted to try it for some time now.

Okay, so one of the players did in fact come back. So I only need three players. Now to answer some questions:

Garris - Yes, Tiefling and Aasimar are available. You can take any of the types (demon-spawn, angel-blooded etc) as well as the alternate racials. You can take any mount available to you at 7th level as long as it's large.

Liette - You can still choose 20 pt. buy, even if you rolled. You can craft ammo.

Lantzkev - You should use the stats rolled in the first thread.

Loup Blanc - Paladin's (and other divine spellcasters who have deities) share their deities' alignment exactly. You could play an antipaladin of an evil deity, but honestly I doubt the group would invite you in. Most of the antipaladin's abilities only work best on good creatures, almost everything you fight will be evil. On top of that, the area they have been exploring is also full of undead (another thing Antipaladins suck at fighting) The group did formerly feature a cleric of Amsodeus but she was heavy on the law and light on the evil.

Abigail Garrett - You're almost good to go. Lost your background/personality spoiler inside your equipment one though. How are you getting two animal companions? One from the animal domain, but the other?

6d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 3, 2, 3) = 17 10
6d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 1, 6, 6) = 20 17
6d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4, 4, 5) = 21 13
6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 3, 2, 4) = 26 16
6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 2, 2, 2) = 19 13

Tsukiko was raised beleiving she was the offspring of a Shinigami, the orderly agents of Pharasma, and her bond to life itself would seem such. though technically living, she seemed very unliving due to her creepy guant, sickly, pale and wiry appearance, her constant smell of a graveyard, her inhuman fortitude, and her necromantic healing powers derived from her odd heritage. forever out of place among the people of Tian Xia, and forever ageless due to the manifestation of her blessing. but due to her ability to see one's intended lifespan, she works hard to keep others from prematurely reaching their time, allowing Pharasma a bit of peace from a flood of premature judgements. the lady of graves whispered into her ears "go to mendev, protect the crusaders, and ensure as few of them a premature judgement as possible. your gift, is not the scythe of your mother, but the reverse, as your mother collected those whose time has ended, you, are to prevent premature ends." so with the help of the goddess, she approached the crusaders as an ally as expediently as possible. "to you, the crusaders of Mendev, the keeper of the dead, lends you her blessing, with myself as her vessel."

If you approve the oracle for this PBP game, I'll reformat it later like a bestiary block with the rolled stats, and thanks!

lantzkev - You need to make an alias and have the character finished before I'll approve it. See Abigail Garrett for a good example.

Lumiere - Same goes for you. You need to put Tsukiko in an alias if you want me to consider her.

i'm not very good at bestiary style stat blocks. i can try.

6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6, 2, 5) = 25=17
6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 1, 3, 2) = 20=14

Cool that's acceptable.

So far completed we have:

@Abigail Garrett

the Feather Domain doesn't give you a second animal companion, it technically restricts your list of options. so you could take it an have the Roc, but you wouldn't have the cougar.

or take the standard Animal domain and choose either one.

Sorry about the confusion. I listed both because I wanted to discuss, if chosen, with the other players which one would be better for the group. Also, cougar fits better than tiger in my mind, so I changed the flavour. I'll make it clearer on the sheet.

As for Lumiere's comment, I had another read of the feather domain and I don't see where you found the restriction you are referring to. Could you clarify what you meant?

I believe she was also under the impression you were working with two animals. I suspect a further mistaken impression that taking the feather sub-domain restricts your animals choices to birds. Such is not the case.

I will have my dwarf done by noon est Monday.

Okay, everything is finished here. It's in my alias profile, but copied behind the spoiler tag here for sake of ease:

Profile
Liette d'Argent was born amidst the fires of piety. Born into a family of prominent crusaders of Mendev in the city of Kenebres, Liette was the youngest of seven children. Her mother, Juliette Amierria d'Argent, served as a sanctified midwife in the service of Pharasma, watching over births among families of crusaders in the nation of Mendev and warding unborn children from the corruptive forces of the Worldwound's near proximity. Liette's father was Aubren d'Argent, paladin of Iomedae and Knight of Ozem hailing originally from the nation of Lastwall. Her family were born and raised under the watchful eye of the Church of Iomedae and all children of the d'Argents were raised with the intention of joining in the most sacred duty of defending not only Mendev, but the world, from the horrors of the Worldwound.

Trained from a young age in the capital of Mendev, Nerosyan, Liette's strengths were discovered not to lie in swordplay or strength of arms, but in her cunning and personable nature. Originally scheduled to be trained as a warrior-priest of Iomedae, Liette's middling success at grasping the concepts of clerical magic left her instructors wondering how best to apply the innate skill of her prestigious bloodline.

Over the years of her tutelage, it became clear that Liette possessed a keen eye for archery but lacked the upper-body strength to make her accurate shots penetrate armor or the simulated hide of demonskin. At fifteen she was presented with her first firearm, a battered pistol her father recovered from a conflict on the border of the Worldwound. Showing promise with the old firearm, Liette was brought into the tutelage of Alversio Kaladan, an alchemist from far-off Garund in the Duchy of Alkenstar. Alversio had spent the last two years training Mendevian cavalry how to properly load and fire muskets from horseback and brought Liette in under his wing to show her the finer points of firearm maintenance and usage. Liette would travel with Alversio and the regiment of mounted riflemen in training exercises and border skirmishes with overflow from within the Worldwound.

It was during this training that Liette's tactical acumen became apparent to Alversio, and he would often push her to try and organize and rally the riflemen during their training exercises. Discrete pushing eventually became more structured as Liette grew older and was taught not only the strategies and tactics of her father, but also the way of honorable combat and piety to the Inheritor. Like all children of the d'Argent family, Liette too had received the calling of a paladin, though answered much later in her life than that of her older siblings. Liette, however, possessed a training unlike that of her more traditional brothers and sisters: a mixture of long-range combat with emerging technology, coupled with her understanding of battlefield tactics and pious tempering.

When the time of the crusade began, Liette was but one face among the many called to duty to reclaim the land swallowed whole by the Worldwound, and what was once Sarkoris would be pulled from the ashes. Proud to have been chosen and with a burning desire to prove herself to her family and her mentors, Liette eagerly awaits the day when she will go to join her brothers in arms that is steadily approaching.

Her adherence to a strict code of honor and righteousness can be used to manipulate her and play against her sympathies, as can her desire to prove herself to others (especially her family).

Sheet fixed. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback, Jelani. I'll probably not do the Antipally, then... Although I'm looking at the Hellknight prestige classes, which are quite interesting. I'll definitely draw something up ASAP.

How's this work for you?

Hey Jelani,

Thought I might throw something into the ring as well. I looked through these campaigns a little bit back when we were talking about our respective maps through Maptools. Since you're recruiting now, I wouldn't mind getting in and seeing what the games are like from the inside.

6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 6, 1, 6) = 25 = 18
6d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 4, 2, 4) = 19 = 12
6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 6, 3, 4) = 24 = 16
6d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 4, 3, 6) = 16 = 13
6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1, 3, 3) = 15 = 9
6d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 4, 4, 5) = 23 = 14

Haven't really decided what I would want to play, so I may take a bit of a read through in order to see what I think might fit the game play style.

Hey Jelani not completly done, but mostly, have a few finishes to make along with background but wanted to be considered. Have and SCA event this weekend so should finish up Sunday or maybe earlier.

Hello, I'd like to try creating a character for the Crusade as well.

Rolls are:

6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 6, 5, 2) = 27
6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6, 6, 4) = 28
6d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 4, 2, 4) = 17
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 3, 4, 1) = 20
6d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 6, 1, 4) = 25
6d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3, 2, 3) = 13

So in order 17, 18, 13, 14, 16, 9
I should have my character crunch/alias together by later on tonight, or tomorrow at the latest
