- If you take the Heirloom Weapon trait, your character does not gain proficiency with the weapon. You still get the masterwork quality for free and a +1 trait bonus to attacks.

- While any class is available for submission, I will let it be known that I am not a fan of Alchemists and Summoners. Just an fyi.

- Gnolls will be allowed as a race for characters. Here is my version:

No racial HD

Darkvision: Gnolls can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Canny: Gnolls gain a +4 racial bonus on Survival checks.

Hey there Tanner,

I would like to submit Khalid Al Ha'zareen for inclusion into your game.

To clarify any inconstancies you may find in the profile, I tried to get him into an establish game before, thus the 5th level build, but I will be working on modifying the build to meet with your criteria, and should have that done sometime this evening.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the character, and the opportunity to apply for a LoF game.

Hey Tanner, its Malthir from the Kingmaker group.
I have been wanting to play a Gnoll for some time. Here is Grall, a Barbarian character I made for my tabletop game that never panned out, the background is a little long due to that fact but I think you will appreciate the detail, even if it is a bit much. Will flesh him out completely if picked and may change up the other trait.

Sovereign Court

I would like to submit my idea for a Half-Orc Monk of the Sacred Mountain.

Most people call him: The Watcher

The Watcher grew up in the hungry mountains (Belkzin) as a slave of the Rotten Tongue Tribe. The tribe periodically raided Lastwall and Ustalav. The Watcher is so named because he has a tendency to stare people down unconsciously as if he is looking right through them. This trait enabled him to survive as a slave in an orc tribe because any other behavior would have been interpreted as a sign of weakness. They would have killed him instantly if he hadn't learned to project strength and arrogance with his every waking breath. The Watcher was never given a proper name while he remained a slave. He still awaits one.

The orcs would make him fight other slaves to the death for their amusement. They would throw weapons into the pit them to use, but the Watcher always refused to pick them up. He insisted on killing with his bare hands, and he has developed quite a tase for it. The orcs of the Rotten Tongue tribe considered this form of combat to be inferior, so they called The Watcher terrible names and insulted him constantly.

The Watcher did eventually escape his captivity once he became older and wiser.

Crotalus Starchild, Paladin of Sarenrae reporting for duty, sir!

I grew up on a small trading post that my parents own in the Katapesh desert. We were visited by many clerics and paladins of Sarenrae on their way to the various towns. I began supplementing the family income by hiring out as a caravan guide or guard depending on the situation. Each town I visited I would always make it a point to stop into the local temple of Sarenrae and reacquaint myself with all the clerics and paladins that passed through our trading post for so many years. I decided to dedicate my sword to Sarenrae and protect those who evil creatures and evil people preyed upon.

I had just finished escorting a caravan, when the head of the local Sarenrae temple came over to me with a burly looking man. The man was introduced as Garavel who was putting a party together to escort a caravan to reclaim Kelmarane. The old cleric added that they would like to reestablish the monastery and temple in Kelmarane, but would like it to be cleared of gnolls and anyone else who does not seek redemption for their evil ways. I quickly sign on for Garavel's band.

How do you feel about 3.5 stuff? I've got a paladin of Sarenrae also made up for a LoF campaign that went belly up
Here
The only problem I've been running into is the Oversized Two weapon fighting feat. It's a holdover from 3.5, and some GM's will not allow anything 3.5 in their games.
Don't know why, it's kinda like being invited to a family reunion and told you can't bring your dad
Let me know.
Thanks,
V

I don't have my 3.5 books in front of me. What are the prereqs for Oversized TWF?

Str 13, TWF according to this.

Here is my submission. Grim-Eyes, a female gnoll desert druid. I can have a background up tomorrow. Thanks!

I'm not throwing my hat into the ring, I just want to wish you guys good luck and hope you have more fun than I did when I played it (bad player interaction) Good luck, have fun!

Sorry, still learning about Google Docs. Even though the folder is public, I found I have to shared every document as public. Please try now. If this doesn't work, I'll figure out how to get it into the profile.

Since it was one of the more contentious feats when it came out (stretching way back to when I was still active on the WOTC boards) I'm going to say your character can take it, but I would add Improved Two-Weapon Fighting to the list of prerequisite feats.

In the profile now.

Background
Quiddling Cinderhill is a proud newly sanctioned member of the Pathfinder Society. The little halfling the Pathfinders at an early age when an expedition came passing through his village, looking to restock. Drawn by their exotic appearence he followed them wherever they went during their stay, listening to their stories when they were out talking to the public and eavesdropping when they were talking amongst themselves. The Pathfinder didn't stay more and a few days in his village but it was more than enough to change Quiddling forever. No longer content with what the quiet village life had to offer he became determined on joining the Society. Everything he did from that day forward was something to take him closer to a Pathfinder membership. When he finally reached adulthood he set out into the world with his aim fixed at Absalom. After some trying times in the city of Katapesh, trying to stay clear of slavers and doing odd jobs for money, he managed to scrape up enough gold to travel to Absalom. And once there he must have made a good impression on the Society because the member application process went well and he was accepted as a full member and assigned to a venture captain named Thaim Dahl.

Quiddling's first assignment was to accompany an expedition lead by a man named Garavel. Quiddling is tasked to investigate the rumours of several ancient structures in the area where the expedition is heading. Although he is not pleased with the tales of gnolls roaming free in the area, he is excited to be in the service of the Pathfinder Society.

Background
Linah Jamil'Kaid grew up as an ordinary girl in the sleepy settlement Kayhed, located in north east of Katapesh. She lived together with her father, mother and baby brother. The combined efforts of the inhabitants of Kayhed had kept the village free of threats, be it the occational gnoll raids, starvation or sickness. But during Linah's eight summer the quiet life took a turn to the worse.

Linah's younger brother became afflicted by a strange fever none of the villagers skilled in healing could cure. The disease spread in seemingly random patterns throughout the settlement, and the infected's conditions grew increasingly dire. Dumbfounded about what to do the elders ordered the sick villagers to be secluded until a cure could be found.

Two days after the sickness had hit Kayhed Linah went missing. Terrified that she might have gone to visit her brother in quarantine her parents rushed to the tent where the sick were kept, only to find that her brother was missing as well. The villager tending to the sick swore that no one had entered of left the tent. Soon the whole village was engaged in searching for the two lost children. They did not however have to search for long. As soon as they directed their search outside of the village they found Linah and her brother at the nearby oasis. Linah was kneeling infront of her brother, with his head resting on her lap.

But the sigh of relief was quickly replaced by a alarmed cry. Linah's long black hair had turned light brown with tints of red, and her sunburnt skin had turned lighter. Her dark brown eyes had turned blue and stared straight ahead, as if she focused on something only she could see.

Linah began to chant in a language unknown to the villagers and then with a flat and calm tone she said: "This ends here.", and laid her palm on her brother's forehead. At that moment a wind erupted around them and her brother began coughing. As he did a cloud of black sand came rushing through his mouth and scattered in the wind. As the wind settled Linah regained snapped out of her trance and turned towards the villagers with a smile. Her brother rose to shake the sand of his clothes, now completely cured from his affliction. A vague mark, roughly the shape of two wings, had manifested where she touched her brother on the forehead and on her palm. As Linah continued to cure the rest of the afflicted the mark grew more and more potent until you could (with a bit of imagination) make out the holy symbol of Sarenrae.

It was not only her appearance that had changed, but her personality to. After the incident the previously shy and quiet girl had gained a stronger confidence and gentler tone of voice. As rumour spread of the girl who performed a miracle spread it soon reached a monastery of Sarenrae. They sent three of their priests to Kayhed to investigate if there was any truth in the rumours. As they reached the village it was as if Linah was expecting them as she stood at the edge of the settlement waiting to greet them. She stood ready with a few of her belongings already packed, and had already told her family that the clergy would take her to the monastery.

The priest were convinced that this was some kind of sign so they took the girl back to the monastery to be educated into the clergy. As the years passed the priest taught her about Sarenrae, about healing and how to defend herself and others with the scimitar. During her training Linah never performed any feats to match the one in her home village but still proved to be a promising cleric and a very gifted healer.

Recently her mentor Khalib Karadesh picked up news of a caravan moving to rebuild the lost village Kelmarane, and he sent Linah as a missionary to help build a temple in honour of Sarenrae.

Some questions about the PbP:
* Does time zone matter? I live in Sweden (GMT +1), would that be a problem?
* What is the minimum amount of posts per day? I can post at least once a day without a problem, but if the required amount is three or more then i don't think i'll be able to keep up (and my time zone might prove to be a problem).

Time zones are not an issue. After I post an update for action, I would like a response within 24 hours. I don't have a minimum number of posts per day, really. As long as you are posting at least once a day I am fine. Weekends are usually slower.

Greetings. I'd like to apply as well, to add a little more Gnoll flavor.

Dim-Grin, Gnoll Ranger:

Spoiler:
Desert heat, cold nights.. He liked it just fine. It was home. Travel was good, and spoils were better. Sometimes it was scavenging from failed trade caravans, other times it was taking what they had directly. Even rarer were those that had something that would be traded for. It was life. Strongest-over-weakest. Everything could speak if you knew how to listen...

Some of the travelers were not attentive. So he would creep closer, and steal from them without them knowing it. First, their tongues were stolen, and after that, their secrets were his. Some were forgetful, and their items became his. Some were weak, and their lives became his. Maps brought more secrets, and those secrets brought him respect. Things had power. He was not the top of his pack, but neither was he the bottom. As long as the sand was underfoot, and the winds blew hot or cold, he was home. Only the weak fear death in their own home.
Traits: Jackal Blood, Reactionary Alignment: N

Possible types of Ranger being considered are Beastmaster, or Spirit Ranger, as it seems appropriate for the setting.

I cannot seem to find the Jackal Blood trait. Can you tell me where you found it?

I would like to apply with:

Sabeen the Desert Witch:

Human Female Witch CG

Seven days after the fall of Kelmarane a caravan passing twenty miles south of the village heading for Solku came across a 5 year old girl, apparently mute and wandering aimlessly. Taken for a survivor from the village, none of the caravaners noticed either that she was surpisingly hale for so long alone, nor the small scorpion the girl was intent on following to cross the trade route.

Sabeen grew up fey and otherwordly, seemingly able to hear and see things that others could not. While she spoke it was often of things that made no sense. Of persons that seemed imagined. Many though her made slow by the harshness of the sun. She simply did not fit in with the simple family who took her in and she spent more and more time wandering alone in the desert. She kept secret her companion, her friend. As time went on he (he was most certainly a he) taught her many amazing things. And with that knowledge came a power for her to influence, for the first time, the things happening around her.

At 18 she left, wandering the wilds of south and western Katapesh. A thin figure, cloaked and veiled, there was something about her that made commoners sign the evil eye as she passed, even when it was to pause and help a sickened child, and made bashers think twice about crossing her path.

She wandered but always she felt drawn to Kelmarane. What answers lay there she wondered. During an infrequent trip to Katapesh she heard news of an expedition, a mission to resettle the village after decades. Her feelings became a compulsion and she approached the expedition factor about joining. A small demonstration of her abilities secured a place.

Whatever she would find there, she would finally be coming home.

Traits:
- Survivor
- Desert Child

I have to do a few adjustments yet, but here's the character concept I would like to apply with. (On my Profile).

Half-Orc Sorcerer

Well, here she is. Nuveril was built on a 20-point-buy, so I'd have to add some points if she is selected. She's pretty much the anti-Adele: a tiny, rude, tightly-wound ball of barely-contained violence. Hates gnolls, so traveling with any would be a real challenge for her. She has the old-school, no-longer-mandatory illiteracy and superstition of spell-casters. Her tribe operates on a barter system and sees no value in coinage (hence, her extra starting money is in trade goods); they also worship their ancestral spirits rather than a deity, which is the source of a good deal of Nuveril's angst and stupid-reckless thirst to prove herself: She doesn't know if the human ancestor-spirits of her adoptive mother's tribe will accept her or if she is dependent on her biological halfling ancestors, of which she knows only that they are mostly slaves and thus weak and comtemptible. She ran in a LoF game which died after...

Legacy of Fire spoilers:
reaching the ruined monastery; we fought everything on the main level (I believe) but never went downstairs.

DM Tanner wrote:

Directly, it is in the "Dark Markets, A guide to Katapesh" book. Indirectly, I found it on a .pdf that someone put together, collecting all the feats and traits from the various pathfinder sources that were not in the core books.

Hey Tanner, I'm going to throw this character in. He was in an Entombed with the Pharaohs pbp that died. He is obviously going to have to have major changes to, well...everything, if I get picked. I don't see any reason to make changes to him unless I'm chosen. This is him in a nutshell.(minus the overhaul)

Zerekias

Just an fyi, I can only post in the evenings (unless I'm off work that day) and weekends. But I already know the reputation of the weekends on these boards so I guess that doesn't really matter.

...so how do you feel about Pseudodragon Oracles with a slight Napoleon complex?

(backstory in profile, no stats as yet as would need to clarify base stats with potential GM - then would be a 10 minute job)

I'd like to submit Dotandra Abdul Katap for consideration. She's a halfling slave/rogue. Her info is in her profile.

Thanks,
Jamie

Here are the base stats for Sabeen in support of my application.

Primary role would be buffer/debuffer/summoner with some back up healing (although the later could be enhanced).

She is a bit of an idiot savant, capable of amazing intelligence one moment and seemingly child like the next.

Not sure of your views on slumber hex. I've left that off for now.

I am GMT+0. Should be able to post a couple of times a day.

So many great characters! I wish I had time to run another game just to get everyone playing. I will choose this evening at ~10pm EST and post a link for the OOC discussion thread.

Sovereign Court

Tanner, I don't know if it matters to your decision or not, but I have made a few minor adjustments to Khalid's stats.

Thanks,

Talomyr

There appears a shortage of arcane casters, so I'd like to present Gribbit Bin Freeti, the fiery goblin sorcerer as another option. If he's chosen, I'll finish his character sheet tomorrow.

Thanks,
Jamie

First of all, thank you to everyone for the great submissions. If I did not have a family, school, or work, I would definitely run another game ;)

Here is the roster for the Legacy of Fire game:

Khalid Al Ha'zareen, Human Inquisitor
Nuveril, Halfling Barbarian
Grall, Gnoll Barbarian
Grim-Eyes, Gnoll Druid
Linah Jamil'Kaid, Human Cleric

Please go to the OOC thread [link] and post to confirm.

I wish good luck to those not chosen to find a great game in the future. Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to firstly offer up a game, and then consider our subsequent applications.

Auri WILL find his way out into the desert...eventually...

Thanks for the consideration, Tanner.

btw, are you finished with the Kingamker game? Haven't had a post from Virgil in a few weeks.

It was slow-going for a while, then I saw Cale's player say he was bowing out.... [checks thread]...Ah! It picked back up. Posting momentarily.

Ah drat.. I was hoping for a Gnoll Majority.. Or an all Gnoll party (with that Pseudodragon).

Yeah my Pseudodragon seems unique enough that people want him along, yet hasn't *quite* made the cut yet :p

Oo! Maybe we're on the Waiting list? *blinks cute Gnoll-eyes at DM Tanner*
