Side Note: The mention of kobolds and devils has reminded me of the brilliant and hysterical Mr. Pett's adventure "The Devil Box" from Paizo's run of Dungeon Magazine (#109). Great Stuff! and I just dug out that issue and it has an amusing forward from a younger Mr. Jacobs serving as associate editor back then. : )
I've always had a soft spot for kobolds and love the Paizo redesign. I was running a kobolds-only party through the Iron Gods AP on the boards (To KoBoldly Go!) pre-2e. We got about halfway through the AP before covid and other things derailed it. I just loved the idea of kobolds getting their little claws on blasters and explosives, but they were disappointingly well behaved little scamps in the campaign. It helped that there were all sorts of aliens and non-standard humanoids for allies.

I truly did not expect PBP to languish during the lockdown, but yes, I think a new era of virtuality has presented more options and the end times have meant lots of life changes for folks. My PF1 PBP game that I've been running like 10 years(!) is still mostly going, though the future is uncertain, so i've kept a toe in PF1, but my new game groups are all DND 5e. Thus, I haven't really played PF2 other than here and it's just a lot of work trying to recall how Mikos works. I am totally enjoying this game and group, but it's another barrier to posting for me. I feel like I'm having bandwidth issues as well. Sadly, I think this is an opportunity for a clean break for me, too. Thanks so much for running Nomad Sage and I have truly enjoyed the company of my fellow adventurers. We'll always have Minkai!
Looks like the last Paizo update locked a bunch of folks out. I'm just getting back in. If anyone can read this but not login, try clearing out all the Paizo cookies from your browser and you should be able to get in. Hey Scranford, don't know much about Midgard, but I'm pretty open for a 5e game. I'll check out the thread.
Same here. Two players, maybe 3, just disappeared from one game. I think that campaign's over, sadly. It was fun. All kobold party made it 2/3 through the Iron God's AP. My other game has two players that are overwhelmed w work, family, holiday season, 2020, etc. so we may just take a break. That game is going on 10 yrs so hopefully we'll keep her going.
huh, I guess the thought may have been that the victim could readjust their grip on their turn, but that's weak. I would have thought that a success knocks their weapon to the ground and a crit success allows you to grab the weapon in your free hand. Wasn't that like a monk class feat or a feat tree or something in 3.5 or PF1? SO nothing happens if the victim goes right after you? I'd prob house rule that the effect remains until the end of the victim's turn so at least a success gives an attack penalty for their turn.
I think the big basic change is that everything just keeps scaling up as you gain levels. That makes sense to me in the consistent rules sense, but grates on me a bit style wise. Everything ramping up so far beyond mundane levels just feels more like a superhero game. I like grittier low-level action. and why does the difficulty of skill checks suddenly become beyond reach. Joe the commoner can't climb a wall today bc it went from DC 15 to DC 30 when the PCs reached mid levels. huh? EDIT: now that I think about it: is it just DC 30 for the PCs and still DC 15 for the commoner? DCs scaling with skill levels would make more sense. yeah, I still don't know PF2 that well. just too much going on.

I didn't realize that I was still using the beta release or whatever it was and not the final released version. That did clean up a lot and I understand the system better, but I'm also just not recalling pretty basic rules. I don't know if it's just too many variations in my head or I'm just getting old :p

Dark Markets remains one of my favorite PF books. Big recommendation.
Fair enough in the initiative actions. It looks PF2 has dropped the surprise round and that makes things a little awkward for ambush encounters. In PF1, PCs roll for perception and initiative and only those that make the perception check could go on their initiative in the surprise round. PF2 melds those rolls so it's slightly different. In this case, I'd prob have made the higher perception rollers aware of the spider as it began to act so they could resolve their action before it went e.g. spotting the hatch in the side of the pit pop open and long, pale arachnid legs dart out. my 2 sp.
I think well be waiting for the complete rules for a whole lot of info. The playtest is really just about testing mechanics. I very much like the change to silver standard. It's something I've toyed around with in the past. The prob with gold standard is that only gold is used. copper and silver become meaningless and platinum is too rare. It's really just a style thing, but I like the more diverse use of coin and more realistic feel imo.
At least the version in seeing in the orig. PF2 rules expands it with each spell action component added: s-touch; s,v- reach; v,s,m-30 foot burst. It sounds to me like the 'channeling ' class ability works just like bonus castings of the heal spell at whichever of these levels you wish. VSM for the old channel effect, but you could just touch some one for a quick 1-action heal.
I see the point on channeled healing getting out of hand. I just had a cleric join a long running game where we just had an Oracle available and it totally changed combat with wave after wave of hp refreshing. If they wanted to nerf that I could see maybe a min 1 channel/ day as the floor with Cha bonus added on, but totally taking a way a class ability based on a secondary stat is weak.
Bruno "The Keg" Ironspine wrote: Didn't see rules for drunkenness yet in PF2. Anyone else? Didn't see anything specific, but I'd likely rule that it would be an affliction with a Sick 1 result. Interval of an hour. So -1 on all rolls until you make a save attempted after each hour. Max duration of four hours. There is this, which sounds fun: You can spend an action retching in an attempt to recover, which lets you attempt a Fortitude save against the DC of the effect that made you sick. On a success, you reduce your sickness value by 1 (or by 2 on a critical success).
Iniative:
Dibbets- 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Keelhaul Kaul- 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Madman Jim- 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Corliss-1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 spook- 1d20 ⇒ 18 I think Corliss is the only one that could do anything about it, but too slow. Kaul sees a translucent pale copy of the body below flying up from the bottom of the pit. Even as he begins to shift back, he feels a big push from behind by some unseen hand! Kaul- Will DC 17 or violently pushed into the pit. 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) = 13 bludge, 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) = 11 pierce
Off to the Crusades! I was actually thinking of a Low Templar type character. Original thought was a Son of Brevoy. Born and raised in Restov. Trained in an Aldori dueling school. Ambitious, believer in causes: first the rebellion against Surtova which was little more than talk, then an expedition to the Stolen Lands which fell apart due to fractious infighting, finally joining the Crusade only to be robbed of his prized Aldori blade on the dangerous West Sellen route. Thrice burned, he doesn't believe in anything now except strong ale and easy pickings... at least that's my thoughts at the moment.

Doesn't it say up to level 13? That's almost another AP there! it could be a little more sandbox though. I'm interested. Maybe a jaded cad-type fighter this time.

As for last night's ep. The bio-warfare ploy was weak in the comic and not all that great here, though the homage to Night of the Living Dead was alright. and although initially WTF? leaving the front door open, they did talk about the heat and having personally tried to sleep on a hot sweaty southern summer night- yeah, you'd leave the door open if at all possible. The Henry thing was full on stupid though. I won't argue there. Woulda been bearable if he'd shot Gregory.
