*Casts thread necromancy*
Anyone interested in CoC gaming should come check out Open Design's latest patronage project:
The Red Eye of Azathoth
We're still looking for patrons, in what promises to be an incredible anthology of linked CoC adventures. Perfect for one-offs, or for an extended ongoing CoC campaign where nothing short of the fate of the world is at stake.
Come check us out, and sign up as a patron today!

Well, if you're so inclined, I have a gaming suggestion for you -
I'm heading up a patron project for Open Design:
The Red Eye of Azathoth
Very inspired by Lovecraft's work, using the traditional Call of Cthulhu rules, for an anthology that promises to be incredible.
Come check us out!

Love Pathfinder. Love Call of Cthulhu. I run both systems and they are without doubt my two favorite RPG systems. Unfortunately the two don't mix. One is a combat orientated game the other is investigative.
. . . So come vote for the system you prefer, after joining as a patron. :)
There is a middling option we have offered - PFRPG rules where the players only use NPCs for characters, to approximate the relative power levels of investigators in CoC gaming.
Regardless of the rules set, there will be mysteries aplenty to solve.
BRP rules are currently in the lead. The poll closes September 23.

The vote has been extended to September 23, as to the rules set to be used.
As it stands, BRP rules (aka traditional Call of Cthulhu rules) are ahead of PFRPG in the voting by 4 votes.
If you're a pathfinder fan, join now and cast your vote!
(Or, if you're a BRP fan, join and vote and make sure BRP stays in the lead.)

Chaosium has a fairly easy and simple right-to-use agreement with publishers, and rights are easy to secure. In fact, they encourage 3rd party publication, and a dozen or so companies, such as Pagan, Sixtystone, Black Seal, Miskatonic River Press, etc publish CoC regularly.
And Wolfgang knows those folks, so if the project goes BRP, this won't be an issue. One of those publisher things...
B.
Brandon, as ever, has hit the nail on the head.
First, we have to decide on a rules set to use.
Second, if the patrons decide to go BRP (or "traditional" Call of Cthulhu), then we'll do what we need to do to make sure the project is legit.
Ultimately, it's all about spreading the excitement of Lovecraft's work (and others who have lovingly expanded upon the Mythos) and CoC style gaming, while adding our own footnote to the milieu.
If you're interested, the project is already shaping up into something I'm *very* excited to be a part of. We have a very talented group of passionate patrons who have an excellent feel for CoC gaming, and I'm quite pleased with the direction the project is heading.

Hey all - Josh Stevens here.
In case you weren't aware, Wolfgang Baur's Open Design currently has three projects that are in the commissioning stage. I pitched a Call of Cthulhu/Pathfinder RPG hybrid project called "The Red Eye of Azathoth", which you can check out at:
THE EYE COMETH!
If you were on the fence about this project before, please sign up! We're still in the stage of trying to commission the project, and are always looking for more patrons. The earlier you get involved, the more influence you have over the ultimate direction of the project.
Right now, patrons are voting on the rules set to use (PFRPG vs. BRP rules) and the nuances involved in the game system of choice. The polls will stay open until September 4, 2009, but to vote and have a say you have to sign up.
So, come check us out!

No thanks. That's what the Companions are for.
Why do people insist on diluting the APs? It's already saddled with fiction and pre-gens, and we've seen significant problems in the recent past with continuity issues due to lack of space (and editors' time, unfortunately) - which is a cardinal sin when it comes to any adventure, and especially a long-running AP. And make no mistake: these problems show.
The AP needs to remain an AP. Increasing the adventure word count (when needed), or the AP-specific support articles are superior uses of limited space within an AP. A bunch of magic items is not, AFAIC.
Let's put more of these things in the Companion and Chronicles line - where they belong.
*sigh with a side of facepalm*
The magic items would be tied to the AP, as stated above, and would be a support article. Further, I was only thinking about a 2 page spread, not diluting the AP.
But, the point has already been beaten to death. I'll check the Companions line. Thanks.

We already do this, sort of. New magic items appear in Pathfinder APs with relative frequency, but they're not given their own articles for the most part. Instead, they manifest as sidebars or are worked into the text of the adventure.
And then, sometimes, we do include a magic item article, like #22's genie magic article, #5's runelord magic article, or the upcoming article in #27 about strange relics and items recovered from exotic locations by the Pathfinders.
Yup! And I loves them sidebars.
I just wanted to basically see more of them.
The Pathfinder Companions might be a good place to go then; there's new magic items showing up in there quite often.
Ooh, I'll have to check that out then. Thanks!

I for one am sad to see the Set Pieces go. I really enjoyed them, and thought they were developing nicely.
But, I understand this will benefit the AP books in other ways (increased page count to work with, more room for the main adventure, longer support articles, etc.).
I was reminded by the title of another thread here how much I loved the old Bazaar of the Bizarre articles in Dragon.
I know that the APs are planned far into the future, and any changes wouldn't take effect for several months at this point. But, would it be possible to devote one or two pages of an upcoming AP to regularly feature new, Golarion/region specific magic items? Quick write-ups with some flavor text to tie them to the Adventure, that can be given out to make a treasure horde more interesting and less generic feeling? The article could also be used to expand upon unique treasure items that appear in the AP or are possessed by NPCs that the characters encounter.
I'm thinking talking shrunken heads from the Mwangi, or enchanted sword canes from Taldor, etc. Maybe just 3 to 6 new magic items per issue?
Would anybody else be interested in seeing a feature like this on a regular basis?

Thanks guys.
She ended up going home after getting three units of blood. They say she is bleeding internally but don't know where until they do more tests. She had to go home because she couldn't afford to be in the hospital any longer than necessary. I suppose that if they released her, they thought it was safe. She's got a test and a meeting with a specialist coming up Monday, so we'll know more then. She's going to get another test on Thursday too, so again, more information then. She sounded much stronger when I talked to her yesterday and today, so that at least set our minds a bit more at ease.
I've never been wrapped up in grabbing and holding when it comes to money, but right now I wish I had a big fat bank roll so she wouldn't have to worry about having the dough for decent treatment...for whatever this is.
Ah Daigle, sorry to hear this man.

Amanda was a cool sidekick/love interest, but she just could not carry her own show. (Or maybe she could, and the writing was just so bad it boxed her in.)
I think that a show Centered around Methos would have made a great show (but he was not "Miss America" while Elizabeth Gracen was, go figure)...
Totally, a Methos series would have been awesome.
Or even something following Richie, up until . . .

After being disappointed by both Batman: R.I.P. and Final Crisis, and taking into account my complete dislike of the character of Damien "Wayne", I have cut down on my Batman related collecting. I'm still collecting Batman Confidential and Superman/Batman (both of which still feature Bruce Wayne), along with Detective Comics (featuring the new Batwoman). No Batman, and certainly no Batman and Robin.
Eh, I see where you're coming from.
Just pick up one issue of Batman and Robin and give it a shot. Sure, Damian you'd like to just smack the crap out of, but it's interesting to see Dick try to wear the Bat mantle, and see just how heavy a burden it is.
He really is trying to fill some big shoes, and doesn't quite cut it IMO. But, for now it's cool to see him try.

Day 6 of our insurrection, and still no word from the Golem's masters.
They fear the might of GoFY!
We need to attract celebrities to our cause, just like any other political organization.
We already have Tim Hitchcock. Now we need others.
Soon, GoFY will be the pet organization of all of Hollywood!
