Dominic Radzi |
Dominic tries to corner the rider, cracking his whip over his head. He whirls it around, readying for the horse to come closer.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Lydia Stillbourne |
Seeing that Black Maiden appears to have already assigned herself the errand of grabbing the tapestry, Lydia and Fomalhaut continue playing rodeo clowns to Lady Rhiannon and her steed.
Same readied actions as last round.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
She pauses long enough to take a shot at Dominic, curses, and then rides off.

Black Maiden |
The Black maiden hefts the massive tapestry onto her shoulders with a grunt of effort and begins to march towards the gate, a bit slower than she had before.
Move action to pick up tapestry, +100 pounds now heavy encumbrance.

Fomalhaut take a spiteful swat at the goshawk as it flounders...
last round's AoO, slam vs Triumph: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

masterwork scythe vs Lady Rhiannon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11
Lydia shrieks in pain at the nasty sword wound, and her counterattack is reduced to something more like merely a levering maneuver to free herself of it as she retreats behind her own shadow.
Dominic Radzi |
Dominic casts a spell at Lady Rhiannon, hoping to distract her momentarily. Then he steps forward and lashes his whip at her.
Spellstrike: Cast Daze at Lady Rhiannon (Will save DC 13)

Tawner Kelenfold |
"LYDIA!" In Tawner's exasperated state he forgets to call on his god, but completing his last few steps, he brings down his scimitar on the woman.
Melee weapon, str, flank? I get flank, right?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage & str: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Lady Rhiannon |
In a frenzy of flailing arms and weapons only one blow connects.
Yes, even with Tawner's flanking bonus. ;)
"TRIUMPH! You 'avé quashed mon Triumph foul reapair! Do you 'ave any idéa 'ow éxpensive zat bird was?! DO YOU?!"
Rhiannon raises her sword to smite the shadowy apparition.

Tawner Kelenfold |
Memories of Mangle come flooding in with the pain of hoof attack. His father's horse was an ornery gelding. Tangle, not so much.
But Tangle was dumb, much like I'm being.
Tawner steps back out of range (five feet) and concentrates on the symbol hanging from his neck. An immaterial wave races out from his chest where the wooden figure glows with an inner light.
Tawner casts channel positive energy to heal (standard action).
Channel Pos ergy: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Everybody including Lady Rhiannon is healed 4 hp except for these two:
*Lydia shouldn't be affected either way because I'm not choosing to hurt undead. Sorry
*Black Maiden is out of the 30ft range. Sorry
Black Maiden |
No worries, Black Maiden is being a selfish jerk and walking off with the prize and crossing her fingers the rest of you make it out alive. Downside of my class... I'm not actually particularly useful in combat until level 3 when my fuzzy bunny is a little more vicious. For now I'm mostly a face character.
The black maiden, continuing her tirade against galtic accents and several other things probably best left unmentioned. She briefly considers letting her friends know she had left, but the *Blankity Blank* had a horse, so the best plan was to keep walking and get out of sight. If her friends where smart, they'd scram as soon as they spotted her leaving.
Double move off map.
Dominic Radzi |
Dominic steps back and then lashes his whip at the woman again, hoping to reopen any of those wounds closed by Tawner. "Surrender! We have you surrounded!"
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Lydia Stillbourne |
Lydia notices Black Maiden make off with the loot, but figuring this miserly matrician would simply pursue them if they were all to just run off - not to mention that they've finally managed to hem her in - she decides she should finish what they've started. She attempts to numb the horse's mind....
Daze, DC 14, on Zephyr.
Fomalhaut |
Fomalhaut is less subtle.

Zephyr Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Dominic catches a bit of Rhiannon's thigh with his whip!
Triumph regains consciousness. The falcon regains it's feet AoO and moves out of reach.
And the Black Maiden and her loutish rabbit steal a wall rug!
"Ai weehl cut you to shreds apparishe-on!"
Rhiannon longsword v Fomalhaut (higher ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23 damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2 hit

inflict light wounds wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

slam vs Lady Rhiannon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 You've gotta be f%@@ing kidding me....
Fomalhaut continues flailing at the noble, only to be spited by the last rays of the setting sun!
Tawner Kelenfold |
Tawner sheaths his sword and then uses that free hand to gesture some forgotten symbol in the air.
Tawner casts Guidance on Dominic.
Edit: Oh and a 5-foot step away from the might beast.
Lady Rhiannon |
I'm going to assume that Tawner steps back first (so as not to be potentially clobbered by the horse and rider) and then casts guidance on himself (because the spell has a range of touch), unless he is switching sides. Hmmm.... Dominic still hits though.
"TRIUMPH! Again you ét yur weird shadow-thengy quash mon Triumph!"
Still trapped and whipped and waved at by the elf and the 'weird shadow-thengy' Rhiannon urges Zephyr forward.
Rhiannon longsword v Tawner (higher ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23 damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4 hit!
"Ai said: Fairward Zéphyr!"
She urges her horse to (unimproved) overrun Tawner. Does he decide to stand, and possibly be bowled over, or move to the side and let the big white horse pass?
Tawner Kelenfold |
Oh yeah..."Target: Creature touched". Dangit!!! Okay, so guidance on myself. I guess we won't know what I'll do until it's my turn again. :\
Lydia Stillbourne |
If I were you, I'd have taken a scimitar swing. :/
@DM, I don't know if you'd be willing to show mercy and let him reconsider his action?
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Normally I am a merciful GM. I gave Tawner his 5-foot step before he cast next to a threat after all even though it is somewhat ambiguous in the post. While I am willing to aid with the easy and obvious, I am loath to play other people's characters. That's sorta their job. Otherwise I would be writing an online novel. That and I don't want to ever assume that I know for absolute certainty what players are thinking when they do things. I personally try to avoid doing the obvious when possible when playing--because really what's the point of playing then? It is pretty obvious that Tawner wanted to cast a spell and knew he had to disarm himself to do it. If he wants to change the spell he cast he may so long as it is a spell he can cast right now.
Tawner I still need to know if you are moving out of the way or not.
Tawner Kelenfold |
I appreciate that more than you know, World's Most Interesting DM! If I die, I die. That's how the game is played, though I did not intentionally try to get myself killed. However, if I do die, would someone please feed my goldfish?
Yes, I move out of the way!!!
Quick note on my hp because I don't believe it's 10, I think it's 2: Took 11 damage (2/13); healed 4 (6/13); took 4 damage (back to 2/13)
Summary: Tawner sheathed his sword, still has his shield, took a 5-foot step before he cast Guidance on himself, and is moving out of the way.
Lydia Stillbourne |
Next chance I get, I'll try to daze (DC 14) the horse again.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Que the Bennyhill music as Lucy and Mara continue running away!
Next chance I get, I'll try to daze (DC 14) the horse again.
Moved you in for range sake. Fomalhaut still has a standard left if you need something retrieved from your pack.
Zephyr will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Fomalhaut |
Fomalhaut makes a deep, unnatural hissing noise that reverberates off the various mausoleums and headstones, making it almost seem that the entire graveyard is making it....
Intimidate to demoralize Lady Rhiannon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Tawner Kelenfold |
Tawner mumbles and moves his hand in an almost familiar sign. He reaches out to touch Lydia before she can start running after her quarry.
He can feel the magical energy leaving him and somehow he also feels a jolt running back through him. Her skin is soft to his touch, but he tries to ignore this and instead turns his attention on to the galloping horse.
Tawner casts Guidance on Lydia who happens to be standing next to him at the time.
Heh. I can do this all day long.
He then follows the rider.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Continue running away! Though hey, should be fairly out of sight for now, so cut into another direction off the road to at least force a tracking survival check if nothing else.
I would though like to point out that if the Maiden is carrying a heavy load, her movement speed drops to 20' (Run at x3), she would have a -6 AC penalty to Str and Dex skills, and a Max active Dex modifier of +1. Zephyr, being a horse, moves at a Speed of 50' and depending on his training might have the Run feat. It has been three rounds since she hoisted the tapestry on her back (a move action) and took off so if she runs this turn she's only gotten 140 feet away from the tomb. Where he icon is currently denotes about 55 feet of movement. If she turns to the right (her left) and keeps moving that only puts her one full square off the map.
For the record the cemetery occupies a town square. Basically, it is a fenced-in park area rung around by a broad roundabout street which in turn is rung round by town buildings.
Black Maiden |
Going back and counting, I've had 2 turns off map that would have been running. I didn't think it would matter, but if it's going to be important then she'll start dashing off down alleyways or some such instead to get off the main road and make it harder to run her down by horse.
Lady Rhiannon |
Zephyr will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
The woman's wonderful horse stops suddenly. Rhiannon kicks at its flanks and fumes.
"Aaaarg! Vairy wéll ai weehl simp-lee need keep un of you alive long enough to questshe-on air trade. Tell mé aré any of you impairtent to hair? Ai doubt eet, ze wai she léft you all haire to die."
